Stay with me...there's a bit of a story here, but a good one that reflects how Lisa/Brent made a not so great situation into a really FANTASTIC experience. Location, price, and staff are GREAT! Unfortunately, when we arrived, the exterior treatment to remove mildew made the room smell. After a few options on how to make this work, Lisa offered to refund me and pointed me to the next inn right next door. How often does that happen? I've stayed here (under my maiden name earlier) dating back to 2004. I was told about Land's End from my friends who visit every year for a family reunion. Nice, family oriented place. This was such a nice and unexpected experience. When we arrived we were greeted so kindly (I don't remember the man's name) and by the dog Ginger, whom gave us a sweet hello too! We stay here nearly every year at least once or twice. Personally I think it's the best dog friendly Hotel on the Oregon Coast. We stay here when we don't bring our dog too as it is a phenomenal location. Not much better than staying in downtown Cannon Beach. You are in walking distance of nearly everything and literally steps from the downtown beach entry. Not the fanciest decor, but livable and comfortable for families and pets. Great place! read more

This hotel has clean and nice rooms. Our room was on the side and had the oceanview like we had reserved but I was expecting one if the rooms directly facing the ocean. In any case, the room was spacious. Help came right away when we had some trouble with the TV. The room was cozy and the fireplace fully equipped with a duralog and a matchbox was an icing on the cake. This room had everything we needed for the our one night stay. Just a heads up for the price you're paying you're only really getting the privilege of being right on the beach. The rooms are very old, seemed outdated. Even the towels and toiletries in the bathrooms seemed very cheap. We were not even able to access a hot tub or spa. No swimming pool. Again you're paying for a beachfront access and that's about it. If you're looking for other amenities you might want to look elsewhere. Booked a week long stay here. Here's my experience. PROs: Ocean front room, first floor that opens to a patio overlooking the beach with a spectacular view. Dog friendly. Laminate floors. Flat screen with an HMI to plug in your own Roku* if desired (* see CONs) CONs: Number 1: THE OWNER ACCUSED ME OF STEALING HIS CABLE BOX AFTER I LEFT. This was because I unplugged the HMI for the cable box (didn't move it, just unplugged it) and plugged in my Roku, as I didn't find their collection of VHS tapes (VHS? for real??? What year is it again?) to my liking. Admittedly, I failed to hook the HMI back up before I left because of how difficult it was to access the back of the TV (it was almost screwed in flush with the wall). Bad move on my part for not hooking it back up, and I apologized to the owner for that when he called to call me a thief. But even though I tried to explain to him that I couldn't sell a cable box for two cents on Amazon even if I wanted to, he was convinced I stole it and called me liar, then banned me from his hotel. To put this into perspective, I had just spent $2000 at his hotel, and not only did the owner insult me for something I didn't even do, he banned me from his hotel over a worthless piece of legacy equipment he probably found later on that night. Lol! Judging from the reviews, I'm guessing he doesn't exercise that same business acumen with all his customers. Probably just the ones with lots of tattoos like myself. Other than that, the kitchenette had a mini fridge only suitable for storing beer and not much else, which was disappointing in a town where every restaurant closes at 8 pm. There were also no drawers to store your clothes, and the patio right outside my window had been booked for a funeral service at one point (with a really bad live acoustic guitar jam session afterwards), which was very awkward. Summation: Even if i hadn't been banned, I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me. Avoid this place. read more

Truly enjoyed our stay here this weekend. The manager is very accommodating and the rooms are very nice. Unfortunately Cannon Beach had an ice storm during our stay and the whole town lost power but they supplied extra fire and flashlights to help make it more enjoyable. It simply does not get better than this! Upon arriving, I was greeted in the office by a gentleman who addressed me by name and was beyond nice. It felt as though he was the owner. If he's not, he definitely deserves a raise! The envelope that was provided to me had my keys along with a list of restaurants in the area (what days they're open, if they deliver). It's little things like this that make a difference. The hotel also provides firewood to burn at the beach at night for $6 (super reasonable). The room we booked was a one bedroom. We got a balcony, fireplace, kitchen. It's all that you want and so much more. There is a hot tub on the property. Our balcony overlooked the beach. It is literally just steps from the beach. It is also literally by all the bars and restaurants- just a short walk. Outstanding location, room, service. If you're looking to stay in Cannon Beach, look no further. This is your place! So happy to discover this beachfront hotel! We went off season and thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk down and stroll the beach and town. Cute little coffee shop right across the street too and parks nearby. We missed the Elk but apparently they are roaming around. We did the short walk to haystack rock at low tide which was incredible. Our unit had a perfectly appointed little kitchen and fireplace, Roku and table by the window overlooking the beach. Very helpful front desk and it was quiet and clean. The patio isnt very big but there are some tables and chairs. Excellent price for the location. Call direct to get the lowest price. read more

We enjoyed ourselves so much the first time, my fiancé and I decided to make a return trip. Although both visits have been off-season (March/January), we can't see any reason not I visit year-round (guessing it's packed during the summer)--plus, you can save on the rates. We chose Land's End because if it's beach-front and town-center proximity, fireplaces, and history of strong reviews. We don't have a dog (yet!), but we look forward to returning to this pup-friendly gem in Cannon Beach again! PS: 1-star deduction: Land's End needs to fix their WiFi. Very disappointed! We planned on staying 4 days. The location is beautiful. Right on the beach. But, the room is NOT comfortable at all. Couch is made like you're sitting on the floor. Refrigerator is very small and again you need to get on your knees to get in it. No comfortable chair to relax in. And the queen bed was crammed into the room. Maybe a foot on each side to the wall. Heat didn't work and no additional blankets. Overall....the room was extremely uncomfortable! I also told them when we checked in that my husband has mobility issues. To access the room it was up 2 sets of stairs. They were short, but after 6+ trips up and down the stairs getting our belongings in, a guest next door to us said we could have drove up to the fence and easily accessed our room with NO stairs. Uugghh... Lastly because we left after 1 night, the hotel added 25% to our bill because we canceled 3 nights. We won't be back! read more

I've been to Cannon Beach numerous times and always stayed in different hotels/resorts. This is our best stay by far! Why? Location, location, location being right in town allowed to walk to our favorite places including the awesome coffee shop behind it - Insomnia Coffee Co. Although not the trendiest or nicest, it is a great value, and our room on the first floor with an ocean view was recently remodeled. The place feels like its family owned so has a more relaxed and chill vibe to it. We brought out doggo and loved just opening up the back door onto the patio and walking right out to the beach. The room was spacious for a family of 4 and the views were all so breathtaking. read more

We've stayed here 4 or 5 times in the past two years. This place is clean, modern, with comfortable furnishings, helpful staff AND it's the only lodging in downtown Cannon Beach that accepts dogs. It's literally steps to the beach and almost every room enjoys an ocean view and comes with a fireplace and a Duraflame log. It's three stories high, with no elevator, so if you aren't up for stairs, ask about a ground floor room. If you stay here we can recommend Lazy Susan's Cafe for breakfast and Sweet Basil's wine bar for dinner. Ask the desk clerk for directions to either place. Do check rates in advance. The town is a tourist attraction and rates vary by season. read more

Unfortunately, my experience was extremely poor solely due to the HORRIBLE customer service. I'm not sure if the gentleman in the back office is the owner or not, but if he isn't I would highly suggest they fire him. Don't get me wrong, the grounds are beautiful and you are extremely close to the beach... not to mention the breath taking views. However, these days you need more than that to stand out from the rest. Customer service plays a key role in recommending a specific place to family and friends. Therefore, I will NOT be recommending Land's End to anyone I know and I strongly suggest you don't either. I've stayed at tons of different hotels across the coast and this was by far my worst experience. The gentleman who sits in the back office was rude, unprofessional, aggressive and down right disrespectful... he made both my girlfriend and I feel uncomfortable upon checking-in. Again, for the price you pay to stay in Cannon Beach, you are sure to have a better experience somewhere else. ***UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO SUE'S COMMENT BELOW*** And so my distaste for this establishment continues, as Sue's comment above is simply not true. How could one possibly hold a room for over one month? For your information, my Grandfather passed away on the day of my reservation... and excuse you, but I did call and inform the receptionist or whoever it was I spoke to of this situation. But you're right, I should have still found a way to fulfill my reservation because your business is far more important than a death in the family... clearly. What a joke. I am in utter disbelief that Land's End has managed to achieve as high of a rating as they have on here. I imagine due to the lack of reviews. Sue's comments only further my point of how awful the customer service is here. For anyone considering staying here, I strongly suggest you find an alternative... there are plenty of other hotels nearby that are far more deserving of your money. We visited Land's End at Cannon Beach last week. We have been going to Cannon Beach for the last 13 years, but we've always stayed at another location, off of the beach. We decided with our boys getting a little older, that we wanted something beachfront, to be able to enjoy the beach easily! We researched and researched, and called several locations to find out about rates and availability. We were so impressed with the customer service on the phone with Land's End! They were genuine and personable, and we booked our 4 nights with them immediately. We were even more ecstatic to find out the personnel and accommodations were even better in person!! Everyone was so kind, eager to help any way they could, and worked to make our vacation as best as possible! Our room was perfection. The views were unbeatable, and the updated room was more than expected! It was great to have a kitchenette and be able to make food in our room! Beyond our expectations! They provide you one duraflame log each day..I've never known another hotel to do this..it was a sweet gesture that we took full advantage of, and even purchased more as we enjoyed the fire in the evening! They have beach toys available for little ones to play with, and movies to borrow for your stay. We loved where we used to stay, and have been loyal to them for the last 13 years, but after this stay, we look forward to making Land's End our new home away from home when we visit! Our stay could not have been more wonderful, and we can't wait to come back again!! read more

PRO: The staff is pleasant, the grounds are clean and well maintained, and the suite was clean for a motel. It also seemed well appointed for a motel. (there were just a few annoyances) So, why only 1 star? .... because the CON is a biggie CON - Why only 1 star? This motel never upgraded to a slide card system - keys that can be changed after each person checks out. Most motels and hotels have changed the room locks over to the slide card system. This is much safer than using traditional keys in the rooms. Some older properties have chosen not to convert to a card lock system and still use regular keys. It looks like Land's End is one of them. If you stay at this motel you should be aware that there are probably many other people that have keys to the room. A small motel cannot afford to re-key a room lock every time a customer checks out and forgets to leave the key. Another huge concern is the ease with which a person can duplicate a room key. If safety and security are a major concern to you then you should always stay at a lodging property that uses the card locks. Annoyance 1 - We paid more for the "partial ocean view" but the the glass on the sliding doors that provide this (expensive) view was very dirty. Gosh, this would be first on my list for the cleaning crew. I wanted to go buy some Windex and do them myself. Annoyance 2 - While the suite had a small fridge and stove, the fridge's freezer was completely frosted over causing the internal fridge temp to be less than optimal. (one word - DEFROST) Additionally the stove had those standard metal rings around the heating elements that were replacements and NOT the proper fit. This meant that the pots and pans placed on each heating element were all propped at a weird angle. (unsafe) Annoyance 3 - If you were hoping for some downtime indoors with good TV reception you will be disappointed. A large flat screen TV is in the living room but with horrible reception - fuzzy on all channels. They do have DVD's in the main office but don't expect to see anything else clearly. Annoyance 4 - The jetted tub is fine for one person only. Be very careful how you refresh the hot water while you are seated in the tub. There is an odd positioning of the water spout on the "side" of the tub. It aims the water into the center (middle - not the front) of the tub, right where you are seated. This is an odd configuration that could get one scalded. Annoyance 5 - They offer WiFi but they don't update its security. They use the same UID & password for all guests and it NEVER CHANGES. Be advised, there is no repeater or range extender so signal strength can be very, very poor depending on your room location. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for Land's End since the boyfriend and I first stayed there in October. We've since been again because we loved it so much! Cannon Beach in charming and Land's End is a GREAT location and right on the beach. Pros: 1. Very reasonable pricing 2. Great rooms 3. Updated features 4. Nice staff and gay friendly 5. Dog Friendly 6. Location, short walk to most Cannon Beach restaurants and galleries 7. Fires on the beach....oh, yeah! 8. Close to Haystack Rock and fun walks up and down the beach Cons: 1. Pillows suck....take your own, beds are comfy otherwise You can hear the waves crash from your room and having a private patio in nice (not available on all rooms). Loved having a fireplace in the room...the first time we went, the weather was amazing, when we had actually planned on staying in the room a lot and enjoy watching movies, cooking and wandering around. When we went in November, we got the weather one would expect on the Oregon coast that time of year....cold, wet and rainy....but had a really amazing weekend. We highly recommend the Land's End Motel and we'll definitely be back! read more

This was one of the few dog friendly hotels on the beach, and with the reviews, thought we'd give it a shot. I called after making my reservation online to confirm my two four-legged children. The owner/manager gave me a discount just for calling and being friendly. Off to a good start! When we arrived, we were greeted with a dog blanket and some towels so we didn't have to use our nice room towels for the dirty feets. We got a treat the size of each dog too :). The room had an amazing view (17) and was right on the patio. We could walk out the back door, lock up, and walk right onto the beach. Perfect location! The room was huge! Nice sized kitchen, living room with flat screen tv, fire place, dining room, and separate bedroom. Everything was updated and in good condition. We even had a jetted tub! The hot tub was in a weird location and indeed was tiny, but we were the only ones trying to use it so not really a big deal. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. Overall a nice place to stay and made our vacation very nice! read more

I have a hard time giving this place only three stars because I really wanted it to be more, but it truly was just A-OK. Let's start with the negatives and get to the good stuff: - No daily maid service (unless you request it.) I'm sure that's reflected in the cost (which is really a positive- see below) but it seems a little 'grungy' to see all these towels outside everyone's rooms in the mornings. Maybe that's part and parcel for small motels but it was a bit of a turn-off. - Extremely tight and too few parking spots. We chose this motel because we knew they had a parking lot and figured we'd be able to come and go as we pleased. We never left in the car until the last day because we knew we would lose our spot. In fact, when we did return, two cars were literally parked over the lines, effectively taking two spots. There were two spots reserved for management which surprised me, since there obviously weren't enough spots for all patrons. Frustrating. - Very, very hard mattress. The pillows were stiff too. Did I mention that the mattress was hard? Holy cow, I thought about sleeping on the pull-out sofa, but that mattress was only springs covered by a sheet. I'm sure it was a real mattress, but that's how it felt. Not to mention that the bed frame and springs were *very* squeaky. We vacation as a family, but I feel sorry for the honeymooning couple... - Little things: no tub, only a shower. Coffee for the morning was just a tupperware dish filled with what I think was coffee in the fridge. I thought someone left food behind. - Hot tub was way too low budget. The area was covered by that scalloped greenhouse plexiglass-plastic, surrounded by cheap latticework that is on the bottom of every raised house, and plastic stacking lawn chairs. You ask the front clerk to remove the top so you can use it. Seemed kind of icky and cheap to us for some reason. The Positives! - Gorgeous view, perfect location. Granted that's not really special to this motel, but it was the driving force behind staying here. We had a room with a 90 degree view from the balcony and it was great. A full-frontal oceanview would have cost more, but we were pleased with the view in the room we booked. - Affordable. Generally speaking, we stayed here on a holiday weekend for the same price as a big-chain hotel in Seaside. Very nice. - Parking lot. But see negatives above. - Fireplace, free wifi, small fridge, microwave, and DVD player. Ah, those little amenties help! They also give you a Duraflame log every night so you can use the fireplace. Very nice touch. - Very dog friendly. They even offer up a dog dish in the room. Overall, the room was just ok. You aren't allowed to touch the damper in the fireplace, so when we got a windstorm, we were up from 4am on (we found out just how good a chimney is for funneling wind.) Plus the fridge's compressor would kick in really loudly, again waking us. Throw in trying to sleep on a rock that squeaked and we got broken sleep. Definitely not restful nights. To be honest, we'll look into booking elsewhere, probably starting with the place next door. I wanted to love this place solely for the view and price, but I just thought it was ok. read more

For the price, this hotel is great! The rooms are spacious with fireplaces and very updated bathrooms. The hotel is in a great location with quick beach access and is at the end of 2nd Street, convenient to shops! There is no pool, only a small hot tub, but we would stay again. Most rooms are accessible by a series of narrow stairwells, but it gives the motel a quaint feel and allows you to have a bit more privacy at your room entrance rather than a typical hallway where you share an entry with neighbors on either side. read more

Wonderful location, nice room, and very friendly. My only complaint is the WiFi. It is terrible, and because the AT&T service is so bad in the area, we had to cut our vacation short and go back at the end of the weekend because for people who need access to work for their livelihood Internet is more than just a convenience. The WiFi signal is weak and inconsistent, but everything else about this place is incredible. The beds, bath tub, shower, view, fireplace, kitchen, and location are all perfect. It is quiet, spacious, convenient, and beautiful. We stayed in a second floor room overlooking the patio. Next time we come, we'll opt for one of the rooms that connects to the patio, on the first floor. They are wonderful. read more

We only stayed here for one night, but I loved this motel. We stayed in Room 31. There was a fireplace with a Duraflame log (I think you get one per night), there was coffee, there was a balcony with a nice view (in this room, you're on the street side of the motel, so you can see the beach, but you're not facing it). There are deck chairs on the balcony, but they're a little dirty (they sit outside, after all). There was a flat-screen TV, a comfy couch, there were nice, modern fixtures in the bathroom. The walk to the beach is about 20 seconds, and you're right on the north end of town, so there are restaurants, shops, coffee, grocery, etc. all nearby. The office has movies you can borrow and a binder full of menus from all the local restaurants to help you decide where to eat. My favorite part: there were even wine glasses and a corkscrew provided in the room. The motel is dog-friendly, but you wouldn't know there'd been animals in our room. It was spacious and comfortable, and the amenities were great. read more

Found Land's End via TripAdvisor. Chose it because initial information regarding Corgi Beach Day noted registration at the Chamber of Commerce and use of 2nd Street entrance for the event. First, the location of Land's End is ideal. You can walk anywhere from this spot. Second, as first-timers, we could not have chosen a better room for us and our dog--partial ocean view (which was a lot), kitchenette, bedroom able to be closed off. The bathroom had obviously been remodeled in the last 5 years or so, and the hotel provided all kinds of stuff for our dog. There was enough parking, and Insomnia Coffee is right across the street. The room was plenty large, clean, and comfortable. The bed was a little too soft and spongy (could feel my spouse turn over) for my taste; however, my family notes that all my beds are too hard. Okay--no Goldilocks jokes, but it's true. To me, when it comes to beds, to each his own. Even though the event entrance was moved to the one on 1st Street, our one-block walk was easy. We have booked to stay there again next year. I will also add the the proprietors are fantastic. Really nice. Really helpful. For example, although our room was not quite ready when we arrived (about 1:45 pm), they made sure we could park while we went to lunch. Then, they texted us when the room was ready. Room Tip: Doubt there are "quieter" rooms; however, you can get full ocean views. read more

We spent a night or two a month at the beach in 2015. We stayed on 2 cruise ships one at Jaimaica and one at Bar Harbor, Maine; Oceanside, CA; and along the Oregon Coast. The best location, welcome, food options, shopping, beach walks, and coziest for the year....Land's End at Cannon Beach! Our office Host Brett and Hostess Sue always took time to be personable and full of great suggestion for any question. Sharing our passion for theatre, Brett shared helpful information about the local live theatre. Being foodies we agreed on their choices of great restaurants in a town that really has no bad food. We love the deck right outside our door in the mornings on the beach when our favorite coffee is only 20 steps away at Insomnia Coffee House. The hot tub is handy too...and perfect place at sunset! We stayed there twice last year and will be our first choice every month this year! Beginning in February! If we could give six stars, they would have it. We have stayed here about 4 times. The rooms are always clean and staff is very helpful. Great rates and a nice hot tub. The reason why my rating is a little less is because this time we stayed on the ground floor this time, room #10. This room is very close to the hot tub which is nice but the pump room is right against the wall to the room so you hear that constantly. The bedroom is right on the busy side walk so if you want to nap or go to bed early, you better have ear plugs because it is loud. 100's of people walk by the bedroom window to the public beach and the traffic and people start at about 6:30 so no sleeping in. Also, the floor above this room is super squeaky in every room. We will come back. It we will be sure to stay in a different room. read more

We have been coming to Cannon Beach for many years and have stayed at several motels and hotels both on Hemlock and on beachfront. The last five years we have been coming to Land's End along with our best friends and it has been, by far, the best beach experience. For a MOTEL it doesn't get much better than this. A big plus for us is that it is downtown and dog friendly. Sometimes we arrive and never use the car until it's time to go home. Love the walking access to everything we need. The motel is located at the North end of town where Ecloa Creek flows into the ocean. You get the best of both water features. During low tides we will walk across the creek and north between the two large rocks which you can see from your room - and you come upon a wonderfully secluded cove with caves and tide pools. It's a wonderful exploration. Then you have the nice walk to the south to Haystack Rock and all that is at the south end of town. It's perfect. The accomodations are spacious, comfortable and homey. We always stay in Room 16 which has direct access to the beachfront deck and BBQ. The kitchenette is very functional and we find ourselves cooking in more than going out. Sitting by the fire on a stormy day with a great view of the ocean is quite romantic. The owners (and their dog Bubba) are very nice and very accomodating. We highly recommend Land's End Motel for a wonderful Cannon Beach experience. read more

Nice hotel with beach access. Downtown Cannon Beach is within walking distance. The rooms are clean. They have ocean front rooms and partial view rooms. We stay here or at the Hallmark Inn. The staff is family oriented and they are pet friendly. They have rooms for large groups. They book up quickly so make sure to call if you do not see anything online, often they have last minute cancelations. read more

We've stayed here many times over the last ten years. Just spent the 4th of July week here in room 17 with a door onto the oceanfront patio. The rooms are always clean and many come with well stocked kitchenettes. The location couldn't be better for being in the middle of town with access to coffee shops, the bakery and the main grocery store in town. Even during a crowded holiday, the rooms are quiet at night and comfortable. They seem to be relentless in updating the facilities and decor of the room while remaining affordable. The management and staff are very welcoming and helpful. If you find a vacancy here, don't hesitate to snatch it up! read more

My wife and I have made a tradition of spending either Christmas or New Years in Cannon Beach with our dog. Land's End quickly became our preferred place to stay and we have gone there four times now. There aren't that many places that are dog friendly in Cannon Beach, so that limited our selection quite a bit, but this place is great. They are really at the beach. We have always stayed in rooms that look out over the ocean. they have sliding glass doors that you can open and drink in the smell and sound of the waves crashing against the beach. You can get a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, which we typically do because nothing is open on Christmas and if they are, they probably shouldn't be. It's only a short walk down the beach to Haystack and a short trip up to Ecola park to get to Crescent Beach. There is a river that empties into the sea off to the right a bit, but over the last couple years it seems to have shifted so the river curves down the beach directly in front of Land's End, so you can sit in your room and watch Seagulls bathe in the river get pushed down to the ocean then fly back up a ways and sail down again. The only real downside is that their bed are neither very large nor very comfortable--and I personally find that to be okay given how great the rest of the experience is. read more
