As others have said, you're paying for the view. However, personally, I have not felt welcome here, and I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal. read more

Our favorite pet friendly hotel on the Oregon Coast! We have stayed here quite a bit over the years. I think we have stayed in every building and room type too....lol. After receiving some difficult news we thought we would go to our happy place at Cannon Beach. With a last min booking - room options were limited. Once we arrived, I asked about the possibility of a different room, only to find out they were fully booked. The next day, I went to the front desk to inquire of another room option for us with an ocean view! They had one! The gentleman at the front desk even helped me change rooms by hauling our belongings up the steps to the second floor. I do appreciated their help and accommodations. We had a wonderful stay - so did Duke and Tino, as it was their first time at the beach! The rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond! read more

They had cookies every day 4-6pm in the lobby, they offer Smores kits if you want to purchase them, and there are chairs on the beach you can grab and use for free each day. My wife and I stayed for two nights at Hallmark Resort while visiting Cannon Beach. Reservations were easy to make online. Hallmark Resort offers a military discount. Resort parking is plentiful. Hallmark Resort welcomed us with complimentary fresh baked chocolate chips cookies. We chose the Oceanfront Queen room for out stay; room 142. Our room had amazing view and the sounds of the ocean at night was lovely. Ice machines and laundry machines are available to guests. Pedal bikes can be borrowed if one would like to zip around town. Chairs and firewood are available to take out onto the beach in the evening to enjoy a bonfire. Complimentary hot beverages are available in the lobby to help one warm up after walking the beach. Elements by the Sea Spa in onsite for a quick pampering session. Everyone, from staff to guests were friendly, happy and peaceful. Overall, Hallmark Resort is more expensive than other lodging areas but I felt every penny spent was worth our visit. read more

Great visit again to the Hallmark Resort. It has been many years since we were here, but I wanted to surprise my wife with the Hallmark stay as we had stayed at the Hallmark there years ago, before moving to Seattle. The room was perfect, punctuated by the acknowledgment by the staff of our anniversary. There was a nice card, a bottle with sand in it and the bubbly to share. It was a wonderful display of thoughtfulness. The room had a great deck overlooking the beach and Haystack Rock. It also had a nice fireplace and a very comfortable bed. While it is not inexpensive, the Hallmark has all of the amenities you would want. (and you will pay more anywhere in Cannon Beach because it is a special town. Thank you Hallmark for everything, we will be back, especially since we are back in the Portland area. read more

A very nice hotel to stay in Cannon Beach. The view is what you mainly pay for. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful when suggesting where to eat. We got the queen bed room with view, and it was spectacular being able to walk on the balcony and see haystack rock! The beach is within walking some downstairs, but not gonna lie- It looks very steep up and down. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill, and they also provide bikes for people to ride around with, but I can't imagine going back up the driveway lol They also have wood for purchase for bonfires at night, along with other snacks in a little gift shop area. They allow pets and even had a sign welcoming the pets who were staying there, kind of cute. There was a decent size pool with a couple of hot tubs and we had the whole place to ourselves for a night swim! Pool is not heated, but you have the hot tub to jump in afterwards. They also have a workout room and sauna too. Hotel would be perfect for a girls weekend, anniversary, birthday, or any kind of special occasion. read more

Incredible Resort to stay on Cannon Beach overlooking Haystack Rock and the Pacific Ocean. Customer service was great. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very nice and spacious in the view was from a fairytale. Many different rooms. We stayed in a room overlooking Haystack Rock and will definitely be coming back and staying here again. Rooming is a little pricy but you get what you pay for and more. I have stayed at the Hallmark numerous times through the years, and thoroughly enjoyed my time there, especially my most recent visit. Not only is the hotel kept well, which is hard to do with the salt air and constant sand, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The views are exceptional, especially from the ocean view rooms with decks. A series of stairs lead directly to the beach, with beach chairs available for guest use. They are also very dog friendly! This is a beautiful oceanfront resort in cannon beach OR. We stayed in oceanfront one bedroom which had amazing views of the ocean and haystack rock. Our room had a kitchenette with a good size fridge, microwave, stovetop with oven and dishwasher. It was well equipped with basic utensils and dinnerware. Lots of room to keep your stuff. Housekeeping is provided everyday, thank Goodness! The only drawback is Bathroom is really small and the walls are thin so you can hear someone walking upstairs and activity in the rooms next to you. You can catch beautiful sunset from your balcony. Beach is steps away. Front desk staff is amazing! Fresh coffee in the lobby and yummy warm cookies baked in house, served from 4-6 pm. They even had sugar cookie ornaments that kids could decorate. Bottled water is complimentary and so is parking. I can't wait to return. read more

Come to think of it....this place is better than my janky apartment! Do I have a hot-tub in the middle of the room? No! Anyways, booked a few nights here and was quite pleased with the choice. Its pretty much right in front of Haystack Rock, it's across the street/corner from Pelican Brewing. Check-in was easy, I pulled up to the front, friendly greetings, asked for the particulars, gave us a map of the area, provided helpful local info, talked about amenities, parking, location of the room and all that. Went on our merry way to our room as we got the "Ocean View Room" type. Walking in, we were pleasantly pleased with our room, comfy king sized bed, hot tub, nice double headed shower and especially that wonderful view of the beach and Haystack Rock! No AC in the room but we didn't need it as the ocean breeze was wonderful. Wifi was strong, big tv to keep up with the housewives, decent amount of plugs to charge up, and good amount of room in general. Sitting on the back patio was wonderful to enjoy the views, chat with your neighbors, enjoy your morning coffee, people watch on the beach, wonderful view and worth it! Walls seem to be good, didn't hear any amorous tourist connecting with each other. Housekeeping is available, be sure to let them know if you need it so they can put you on the list. For a price, you can purchase firewood from the hotel to have yourself a little fire on the beach, they also sell S'mores packets. FYI: If you face the ocean, you can smell the beach smoke at night from your room. You know I used the hot tub, both of us fit in the tub just fine, bubbles were cranked up, bath salts in, very relaxing and need one in my apartment. Prices were on the high side especially during peak season, staff was friendly and helpful. Oh, they have bikes you can use to ride around town, unfortunately they wont let you ride them on the beach....whatever! I stayed here a couple weeks back for one night while on a west coast road trip. I don't think I could have stayed at a better hotel on Cannon Beach. I opted for an oceanfront room which delivered 100%. The views were amazing and I had a complete unobstructed view of Haystack Rock. The room was clean and well furnished. Parking was fine for me and I was always able to snag a spot right in front of my room. I arrived to Cannon Beach a bit early but still tried to check in. Although my room wasn't ready yet, the lady at the front desk was super friendly and provided me a map to the area and a parking pass. She took my phone number and texted me an hour or two later that my room was ready. I was informed about all the pertinent information regarding the property. I even went back at 5pm when they provide complimentary fresh baked cookies. They were super yummy! The view from my bed was almost as good as the balcony. Although the room was definitely higher than I have ever paid for a room before, the views and service made it rather worth it. They also provide access to complimentary beach chairs for hotel guests. read more

Is this hotel among the cheapest in Cannon Beach? No. Is it worth it to splurge a bit for an oceanfront room? Hell yeah. Rooms: Stayed for an extended July 4th weekend, but since things were booking so fast I ended up having to split a stay in both a King (3rd floor) and Queen (2nd floor) oceanfront room. Everything was clean and the beach/Haystack Rock view was spectacular. The room balconies are literally next to each other (you can actually shake your neighbor's hand) so that's the only time you may not get the most privacy. Amenities: -- Loved the pool and 2 giant hot tubs. Adult swim hours also! -- The gym was old, small and filled with outdated equipment. I'm the weirdo who checks out gyms on vacation, and this one was disappointing. -- Complimentary chocolate cookies 4-6pm (so good I went everyday), tea and coffee, and bike rentals. -- Immediate and convenient beach access from the property, but it involves moderate stairs so some may have issues if they go that route. Free beach lounging chairs and a foot wash. Although a bit farther from the town, it was an easy 15 minute casual walk. Parking onsite was easy with above and underground parking, although it got crowded for the holiday weekend. Service was really nice and courteous as well from start to finish and you can tell the staff are accommodating. There are many options for lodging in Cannon Beach, but this one was definitely worth it. read more

This is a really nice, beach side hotel. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. We arrived late on a Sunday and the front desk employee saved us chocolate chip cookies. She said she wanted to make sure we got some before they ran out. It was super quiet and relaxing. We stayed for 2 nights. We went out for the day and when we got back, our bedding was replaced and towels were replenished. This is a wonderful location and a nice walk to the downtown strip. Everything was perfect from the moment we checked in to checking out (sad part). We loved this place! They had a welcome sign in the lobby with the names of incoming pets. Adorable! Checking in was a breeze, the concierge was helpful and professional. Everyone seemed happy to be there. We got our keys and made our way to our room. We found a parking space that was close to our section of the building. Our room was on the third floor, so there were lots of steps. We had a lot of gear, so we made numerous trips up and down. For people with mobility issues, there is an elevator that's centrally located. Having splurged on an ocean front room, I was gobsmacked by the view when we entered. It can't get better than this! The room was lovely. They thought of everything: fluffy white towels, product, modern docking stations for your electronics, coffee, microwave, fridge, fireplace, and lounge chairs for the balcony. The bed was extremely comfortable, making it hard to get out of! It was nice leaving the patio door open while we slept, hearing nothing but the ocean. Best nights sleep ever. We had made reservations at a few restaurants, but decided on takeout and enjoyed them back in our room with the view. The steps down to the beach were a milestone for our two pups. They are both under a year old and hadn't encountered open air type steps before. They were frightened at first, but after a few times to the beach, they became pros! I really appreciated the wash stations located on the stairs to the beach. The beach was beautiful. Growing up in Portland, and seeing Haystack Rock countless times, it never gets old. It's a majestic gem along the Pacific Coast. In the early morning fog, we played with the dogs before anyone else was up. This was especially important alone time, since it was the annual Corgi Day/Weekend at Cannon Beach! I should note that we rarely pay to stay on the coast during the warmer months, because of the heavy markup, and that we prefer camping during summer. Hallmark Resort has broken me of this tradition. The view is amazing from my balcony, parking is free, easy and close, staff is friendly, competent and professional. The room is very clean and well appointed. The free warm chocolate cookies are a nice touch. I will say that there are a lot of steepish stairs that for me are a nice workout, but for others might be too much of a challenge, and there are ramps and elevators. The Pelican Grill is right down at the end of the driveway and is wonderful for lunch and dinner. Sleepy Monday Coffee is also close by, A little walk away us the Pig N'Pancake for breakfast or lunch and they make a mean latte. The beach is right close by and listening to the waves all night was lovely. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi set up is very nice too and there is also a workout room. Drinks and snacks are in the lobby area. Free newspaper is available in the lobby and you can read there with the fireplace going too. All in all this is a really nice place to vacation and I cannot wait to come back again and again. read more

Loved this place! The staff is helpful and kind. At check-in they answered all of our questions. The place feels clean and is obviously kept up well. Prior to check-in (we stayed here during Covid) we received an email with their Covid protocols and procedures so there were no surprises. We knew they weren't doing house cleaning in the rooms during g the stay, which seems to be common procedure. We had a lighthouse view room as all of the oceanfront rooms were taken. We were so close to the water and saw so much of the beach. The view still took my breath away. The room felt nice and not dated. We had a jacuzzi tub, which worked well and was a nice perk. We had a beautiful balcony which we were able to sit out on and enjoy a nice bottle of wine. I highly highly recommend this place. We will be back! read more

Our 4days stay at Hallmark was amazing! Since we brought our puppy with us, we requested a pet friendly 1br NW partial ocean view suite. Expected a "squint and you could almost see the ocean" room, but to our surprise we had an ocean view. We were in room 351. It was comfortable with 2 king sized beds. It had a fireplace but no AC and a balcony facing the ocean. They room was provided 2 fans and a Keurig coffee maker. There was no housekeeping during our stay due to covid19 precautions. We took our trash out which was no biggie BUT the bins did overflow while we were there. We all enjoyed our stay including our little puppy who enjoyed playing in the sand and napping on a chair facing the ocean. The cookies at reception were delicious too btw(from 5-7pm only) They do curbside check in if that is what you prefer and the staff are very accommodating. The location is amazing and also walking distance to restaurants. read more

We were very pleased with our getaway and the staff went above and beyond. We had booked the "non-view" room for 3 days due to budget restraints to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived at the hotel, they let us know that our room has been upgraded to the ocean-front view of Haystack Rock with a balcony. When we arrived in our room, we felt very relaxed by the view, lighting, and ambiance. The staff also surprised us by gifting us a bottle of champagne, and a thoughtful note in a wine bottle. The amenities were great, they have a spa on-site, pool, and hot tub (for the rainy days). However, due to the nice weather, we spent most of it on the beach which was directly accessible from the hotel. The hotel supplied extra beach towels, cookies and hot beverages daily, binoculars, and beach chairs. Overall, we appreciated the gestures and will be back for another celebration. The location is amazing, right near the downtown portion of Cannon Beach and right in front of the beach area by Haystack Rock. read more

It's within 10 Minute walk to the main street shops, 5 min from the room to the beach, 3 Min to the sleepy monk (which is amazing coffee and pastries), 3 min to the Screw and Brew (hardware and food), 3 min to the Pelican brewing. We had a nice stay at this hotel. We had a room with a peek a boo view of the ocean which was beautiful to wake up and go to sleep to. We had a pet friendly room and I appreciated the extra towel, dog bowl and dog welcome bag they gave us. We could definitely hear the people above us though stomping around which wasn't great. We also got locked out of our room because the handle was broken, someone came and fixed it but it took a couple hours. Luckily we were out and about for most of it and they were nice to give us a discount for the hassle. We liked that beach access was a short walk, cannon beach and haystack rock is beautiful. Unbeknownst to me, my husband had been making plans to have our room filled with flowers before our arrival. Bennet was his go to guy and he made sure everything went perfectly. I was so impressed when I walked in the room (I wasn't sure what to expect since the exterior is a little bland) however, it is in complete contrast to the rooms and spa. Gorgeous The views, tub, shower, bed, cleanliness, attention to detail. I also had a chance to get a massage from Ray and wow, that was the BEST massage I have ever had. I was worried about my back getting tight since the previous night I was at a wedding wearing heels and dancing for hours. Usually, when I overdo it I am laid up for days. Not this time, Ray saved my vacation. From the minute I walked into my room, until the last minute we drove away, I had an amazing stay at the Hallmark. I never want to go anywhere else. read more

We moved to the Pacific suites, there sister hotel which was much better but still loud. Maybe some signs reminding everyone of the quiet hours would help. read more
