    Sunset from our room

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. The rooms are a bit dated, but they are very clean, the staff is friendly, and the location (right on the beach) can't be beat. The view from our room was breathtaking.

Beautiful location, friendly staff and perfect rooms!! ... on the pricey side, hence the -1 star, would be even better if it was at an affordable price so we could visit more often. We had an ocean front room which was great because the patio had steps going to the beach, and although we were just there for one night... it was totally worth it! The room had a fireplace, kitchenette and two queen sized beds. Would totally go to Schooner's Cove again and will recommend them to anyone wanting to visit Cannon Beach!

    Right on the beach!

Right on the beach! So close to shopping and restaurants. Perfect location! Great room and views!

If you're looking for a clean, comfortable stay with an epic view this is your spot! It's right in the heart of town down area. The property has a grassy lawn that faces the beach. The grass lawn has picnic tables, chairs and grills! The room was great. We did a king on the top floor. The small living area was perfect for work from home. Since the bedroom had a door my husband could continue to sleep! The fridge helped keep coffee items cold, plus some easy meals cold. I love that the room has a dishwasher too. we stayed for a week and it was perfect!

This has to be the best value and location in town ( yep in the Tsunami Zone :) ). We have stayed her several times, each room has a view of the ocean, they are always clean and in great condition. The view and ocean sound coming into the room is what the coast is all about. The top level rooms have vaulted ceilings while the lower level has easy access to the beach. Each room has a gas fireplace which will heat the room fast. Flat panel TV with cable & DVD player. We will bring our Roku and use the wi-fi however to stream our favorite shows. The Wi-Fi is free which is super great. The office is always super friendly and quick to help. Nearby you can slip into Insomnia Coffee and then go walk up and down the beach. It is central to the downtown area so it is also very convenient to many places to eat and shop too. It is not super fancy but it doesn't need to be it has character and charm that is very beach inviting.

Beautiful place to stay. Lovely accommodations right on the beach. Gas fireplace.... Kitchenette

My wife and I went the Schooner's Cove for an Anniversary Trip. The room was clean, the service was fantastic, and the view was to die for. I would highly recommend this place.

Amazing from the start! We were here for 2 night in march and it happened to be the seafood and wine fest so every room in cannon beach was spoken for. Our room was perfect!! Everything you needed in one place with a view of the ocean from your deck and easy access to the beach. The customer service at check in was wonderful, they explained all policies, parking, wifi password, and how the hot tub is reserved. We found parking in covered area right below our room and a bell hop cart for convenient hauling of luggage. The room was nice and warm for the winter as we entered just in time to watch the sunset. Though the room is laid out like a studio it uses the space well. The room was very clean when we entered. There is a guide book which also shares the option for crib and high chairs to requested if needed, though not much room in the bed room to put it. The Kitchenette has everything you could need in small amounts but no oil to cook with if you intend to use the stove top (so byob). There is room for storage of food above the fridge and all other cupboards have necessary utensils, including dishes washing soap and sink needs. The coffee pot is accessorize with coffee sugar and tea options. Across from the kitchen is the dining table for 4 and with a good view out the deck. The fire place in the living room stays pretty warm even when off, but the amazing consideration are the blind above the sliding doors to keep our light for whoever may stay on the pull out bed. At night all you see for light is the green light on the tv when it is off and the wifi router light. The bathroom has and endless supply of shampoo, conditioner and body soap in soap dispensers. As well as complimentary makeup remover and enough towels for 2-4 people. Next to the bathroom is the bedroom where we had a king size bed and a tv. There is a separate heating for the room to keep warm and a view of the hills just past the walk way. The only downside would be, the low minor hum you can hear through the walls if your neighbor's tv is on late at night and yours is not, but mostly that's my intense hearing. The location itself is amazing, everything is within walking distance and makes for an incredibly convenient and relaxing stay. Insomnia is across the street for a morning pick me up and the Main Street is full of fun shops and food. Word to the wise, there was a $10 off on Yelp at the time, but the AAA discount is better.

    A daily balcony visitor

My wife and I spent a couple of nights here around Presidents' Day and had a great time! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, providing restaurant tips, recommendations of things to do, and letting us check in a couple of hours early. We were on the top floor (room 44) with a direct view of the ocean that was very nice. The room had a gas fireplace with a simple on/off switch that helped keep the room nice and toasty, even when the outside temp. was around 20 degrees! There was a full kitchenette and the bedroom was a separate room. We didn't get a chance to try the hot tub, but we will do that next time. We didn't drive our car the whole time we were there because the hotel is close to almost everything, so we walked everywhere we went. If you go there, please do not feed the seagulls. They will land on your balcony and you can get very close to them, but they make a mess so the hotel asks guests not to feed them. Probably not good for the gulls either :) Highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back.

View from our room 56. Nice but can't see lighthouse on right.
    Gina H.

When we initially drove up we were a little disappointed because the front of the hotel is not very pretty. The front desk area is tiny and the building it's in could use a makeover. I think all the wood needs to be painted or stained. We were happy with the Captain's Quarters room we got though. We asked for a room on the second floor because I prefer the high ceiling and the natural light it brings in. First floor rooms you can walk right out to the beach from the patio although I'm not sure if you can lock it from the outside. The ocean view was great although we had the second to the last room from the right and the view on the right was blocked by a tree and the last unit which protruded out a bit. You can't see Haystack Rock from the balconies but it's about a 10 min walk down the beach. The room wasn't super modern but it was clean and cozy. Big king size bed in the room and sofa bed was comfortable enough. The fireplace was nice and is turned on by the thermostat. Unfortunately we didn't use it much because my husband said he could smell the gas. Took us a while to figure out how to turn on the shower until we saw the directions posted above the toilet. Maybe post that by the shower? They had popcorn and dvds you could borrow for free and new releases for a small charge. Overall we were happy with our stay. It was spacious for our family of 4 and right in the downtown so we could walk to everything. There are some fancier and more expensive hotels on the other side off Haystack Rock but you'd have to drive to town. We would recommend this hotel or The Waves down the street looked nice too.

On the main drag of S Hemlock, a short walk to a grocery store, Tolovana State Recreation Area, and the beach, as well as a few restaurants. The compound is a series of buildings with rooms that you enter from the outside. We were upstairs with our balcony overlooking the garden, which was nice. The day we checked in, the woman at the front desk was helpful, but for me, with a hearing deficit, she talked fast and I relied on my wife to interpret for me. No big deal, though. They offer cookies individually wrapped, which is a nice touch. In the lobby are tea and coffee. Our room had double queen beds, was clean, and had all the amenities: mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Strangely, we found that our heater was on, and we had to investigate how to turn it off. There is no A/C, at least not that we saw. However, it does not seem to get hot there, so with the window open, not an issue. The bathroom had a small tub/shower but nice fan and great water pressure. The TV worked fine. The first morning, we checked out the complimentary breakfast. You have to walk across Surfcrest St into another compound called Lodges at Cannon Beach and back in the corner is the breakfast room (there is a sign that leads the way). However, we were not impressed. Except for the sausage, biscuits, muffins, and juice, we were not impressed. There were no scrambled eggs that morning, just hard boiled. I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy. They don't have a waffle maker, so the waffles had been sitting out and, for us, not edible. Ultimately, we skipped the breakfast the next two mornings. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning and tidying up our room each day. We appreciated that. Besides the unimpressive breakfast, I only had one other issue. About dusk the frogs start up in the pond at the center of the garden area where most rooms overlook. They are continuous and loud, so that we had to close the window to be able to sleep. There is a fan in the room, but we like fresh air and were unable to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy with the Inn At Cannon Beach.

Check in experience with Elizabeth was super smooth Scott was there his back up. I was shown a map including a list of places to eat and told about the wonderful DVD selection they have and how to find the menu for it online. I was also offered cookies that were not just for checking in but anytime during this day. I decided I probably want to try each of them just, you know, for research purposes. Happy to find a bag of saltwater taffy in the room and a comfortable table to work or dine at in a sunny nook of the room. The bathroom area is spacious, though the tub was out of commission which also was reflected in the room rate. There was a shower which makes things speedier and some nice bath amenities especially the bath salts. Fireplace in the room with a TV screen that doesn't dominate. Conveniently there was a small kitchenette area with a microwave and Keurig as well as mini fridge. All the things that matter when you're on a quick trip. The grounds are beautifully kept. Maybe because it was a sunny day or maybe just because everything about the area seemed quite well cared for including the rocking bench and the bird feeders where is the nearest feather friends actually feed. The attention to natural details is lovely. One more thing. I thought I had dropped my cars keys accidentally in rhe parking area and Chelsea was very helpful searching for them. Appreciate the thoughtful staff very much.

This meal came after a surprise engagement for my girlfriend so I had high hopes and they delivered. We were greeted with a lovely glass of champagne and also received some specialty bon bons to end the meal. Starting with the venue itself, the restaurant is situated on the second floor of the restaurant in a quaint dining room. I was honestly a little surprised as I had assumed the restaurant was bigger but none the less it was a nice space. There's a kitchen near the entrance which is cool to see. The service itself was fantastic. They were welcoming and kind and fast to address any question or request. I also noticed they did a great job pacing as there would be times where other tables finished courses before we did but they still waited on our conversation to then clear and serve us the following dish. Now to the food. It was so delicious. I'll be honest that when I saw the menu in comparison to the prior night I got a little worried as the first two dishes I saw, crab and a mushroom soup were not something I would typically order at a restaurant. That being said...they were both incredible. The flavors and care that went into each dish was incredible. Great restaurants make items you may not typically like taste fantastic and this is a testament to the chef. We were loving all parts of the meal and it was an amazing dinner and evening to share. The bread and butter by itself were so amazing. It was such a lovely evening and thank you for making it so special for us. Would definitely come back if you're celebrating a big milestone!

Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!

The twin was nestled into an alcove by the window with a curtain to block it off and a separate light switch. The rooms looked exactly like the pictures. We were blown away. Such cute design features and looked fresh and updated. The bed linens were crisply white and luxurious. The furniture was modern, stylish, and all felt intentional. It is a small studio space with excellent storage throughout. Despite not listing ocean views, we were actually able to see a peek of the ocean from the large windows which also let in fantastic natural light! As we made our way with our toddler along the very short walk to the beach access, a second hotel employee stopped us to give us a friendly warning about the winter tide/waves. I was surprised that someone would go out of their way to share information to keep us safe. Just another example of exceptional customer service. If you love the downtown cannon beach area, this location cannot be beat. You are just blocks (steps really!) away from coffee, pizza, restaurants, shops and candy stores. The shower was fantastic. Clean, cute, and the provided shower products smelled great. The fan and heat lamp in the bathroom are on convenient timer switches. The mini split provided wonderful temperature control and was both quiet and efficient with warming up our room. This hotel feels like it is small business owned and we could not have been happier with our stay. Such a great value. We are already making plans to come back. Thank you for a great experience!

We have come to the waves several times over the years. Sadly this is the first time I have to…read moregive them a negative review. We love the location but that is nothing they do. The service is my concern. We went to the office and specifically ask that our room be serviced. When we retuned to our room 2 plus hours later nothing had been done. We did ask that the pilot light on our fireplace be lit and that was completed. We then left again only to find the housekeeper had gone home. We called the office and someone brought us fresh towels. The service is lacking to say the least. While I'm at it: the mattresses are due to be changed out along with the furniture. They are saggy and no longer supportive. The view is awesome! The flagship rooms need major attention, paint and deep cleaning. The staff that we interfaced with might consider a service adjustment. At over $400 per night people expect a bit more than a Motel 6 attitude. We hope next time we come to Cannon Beach that things will be better.
