Great stay! The place is perfect for families or groups travelling together as there are a lot of different options size wise. The room was spacious and clean. We loved having a refrigerator. The views from the room were amazing and we were only a few steps from the beach! This allowed us to walk the beach easily in the morning and take Haystack Rock which was only a 10-15 minute walk down the beach. There were also plenty of shops and restaurants that were walk able from this location. read more

Schooners Inn is the perfect location on Cannon Beach. We walked to the Haystack every morning, which was a mile each way [except one morning when we went beach-combing in Gearhart--highly recommend for a bazillion sand dollars]. Close proximity to town and Insomnia Coffee [awesome coffee]. Cannon Beach is packed with people in the summer so it is hard to manuever through traffic, but if you happen to be coming from the north to the south on the 101 -- you can get off at Cannon's most northern exit and skip a lot of it. We liked Schooner's Inn as far as most amenities. One main issue is the malfunctioning toilet that did not flush properly at all. It was clean but it is very dated. And lastly, people should pay attention to the times posted for outside noise, as sound carries pretty loudly. We would stay there again. read more

I visited Cannon Beach over Labor Day 2025 and stayed at Schooner's Cove Inn. I loved it! I think all the rooms have an ocean view and that was the selling point for me. I was debating staying at Waves (I found a place there with 2BR/2BA for the same price), but I really wanted ocean view- we got the Junior Suite. The 2 queen beds were in a separate area from the living room with the patio that overlooked the ocean. The beds were comfortable, there was a small kitchen area, fireplace, and a nice patio. Everyone was so friendly and I just loved the relaxed vibe of the place. We saw elk right below our balcony- so neat! We walked to Haystack rock each morning and night and the location of this place is ideal- right near Insomnia Coffee which was amazing and walkable to downtown and great restaurants. We drove to Ecola State Park one morning and it only took about 15 minutes to get to the trailhead. read more

Have been coming here every year since they opened in the late 80s. It is a wonderful beach front hotel, decent staff and an overall gem of a hotel. Since they went corporate, their prices are through the roof expensive! I'm talking Hawaii prices. They lack amenities. A hot tub is all they have. The main perk of this hotel is the close proximity to downtown shops and restaurants. I miss the days of the mom and pop owners who were so friendly and personable. The grass lawn has picnic tables, chairs and grills! The room was great. We did a king on the top floor. The small living area was perfect for work from home. Since the bedroom had a door my husband could continue to sleep! The fridge helped keep coffee items cold, plus some easy meals cold. This has to be the best value and location in town ( yep in the Tsunami Zone :) ). We have stayed her several times, each room has a view of the ocean, they are always clean and in great condition. The view and ocean sound coming into the room is what the coast is all about. The top level rooms have vaulted ceilings while the lower level has easy access to the beach. Each room has a gas fireplace which will heat the room fast. Flat panel TV with cable & DVD player. We will bring our Roku and use the wi-fi however to stream our favorite shows. The Wi-Fi is free which is super great. The office is always super friendly and quick to help. Nearby you can slip into Insomnia Coffee and then go walk up and down the beach. It is central to the downtown area so it is also very convenient to many places to eat and shop too. It is not super fancy but it doesn't need to be it has character and charm that is very beach inviting. read more

Amazing from the start! We were here for 2 night in march and it happened to be the seafood and wine fest so every room in cannon beach was spoken for. Our room was perfect!! Everything you needed in one place with a view of the ocean from your deck and easy access to the beach. The customer service at check in was wonderful, they explained all policies, parking, wifi password, and how the hot tub is reserved. We found parking in covered area right below our room and a bell hop cart for convenient hauling of luggage. The room was nice and warm for the winter as we entered just in time to watch the sunset. Though the room is laid out like a studio it uses the space well. The room was very clean when we entered. There is a guide book which also shares the option for crib and high chairs to requested if needed, though not much room in the bed room to put it. The Kitchenette has everything you could need in small amounts but no oil to cook with if you intend to use the stove top (so byob). There is room for storage of food above the fridge and all other cupboards have necessary utensils, including dishes washing soap and sink needs. The coffee pot is accessorize with coffee sugar and tea options. Across from the kitchen is the dining table for 4 and with a good view out the deck. The fire place in the living room stays pretty warm even when off, but the amazing consideration are the blind above the sliding doors to keep our light for whoever may stay on the pull out bed. At night all you see for light is the green light on the tv when it is off and the wifi router light. The bathroom has and endless supply of shampoo, conditioner and body soap in soap dispensers. As well as complimentary makeup remover and enough towels for 2-4 people. Next to the bathroom is the bedroom where we had a king size bed and a tv. There is a separate heating for the room to keep warm and a view of the hills just past the walk way. The only downside would be, the low minor hum you can hear through the walls if your neighbor's tv is on late at night and yours is not, but mostly that's my intense hearing. The location itself is amazing, everything is within walking distance and makes for an incredibly convenient and relaxing stay. Insomnia is across the street for a morning pick me up and the Main Street is full of fun shops and food. Word to the wise, there was a $10 off on Yelp at the time, but the AAA discount is better. read more

We loved this location-within a block or two of shops. But the best part is the set up with a small balcony to sit and watch the ocean and beach, including a pelican flock. There is also a grassy area of picnic tables and 3 nice BBQs for guests. Room was well updated and super clean and had I am picky. There's a well-equipped basic kitchen with 2-burner cooktop, plus a gas fireplace. The beds are super comfy. The only downside is the weathered look on outside, but once one begins enjoying all the advantages, it's not an issue. My wife and I spent a couple of nights here around Presidents' Day and had a great time! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, providing restaurant tips, recommendations of things to do, and letting us check in a couple of hours early. We were on the top floor (room 44) with a direct view of the ocean that was very nice. The room had a gas fireplace with a simple on/off switch that helped keep the room nice and toasty, even when the outside temp. was around 20 degrees! There was a full kitchenette and the bedroom was a separate room. We didn't get a chance to try the hot tub, but we will do that next time. We didn't drive our car the whole time we were there because the hotel is close to almost everything, so we walked everywhere we went. If you go there, please do not feed the seagulls. They will land on your balcony and you can get very close to them, but they make a mess so the hotel asks guests not to feed them. Probably not good for the gulls either :) Highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back. read more

When we initially drove up we were a little disappointed because the front of the hotel is not very pretty. The front desk area is tiny and the building it's in could use a makeover. I think all the wood needs to be painted or stained. We were happy with the Captain's Quarters room we got though. We asked for a room on the second floor because I prefer the high ceiling and the natural light it brings in. First floor rooms you can walk right out to the beach from the patio although I'm not sure if you can lock it from the outside. The ocean view was great although we had the second to the last room from the right and the view on the right was blocked by a tree and the last unit which protruded out a bit. You can't see Haystack Rock from the balconies but it's about a 10 min walk down the beach. The room wasn't super modern but it was clean and cozy. Big king size bed in the room and sofa bed was comfortable enough. The fireplace was nice and is turned on by the thermostat. Unfortunately we didn't use it much because my husband said he could smell the gas. Took us a while to figure out how to turn on the shower until we saw the directions posted above the toilet. Maybe post that by the shower? They had popcorn and dvds you could borrow for free and new releases for a small charge. Overall we were happy with our stay. It was spacious for our family of 4 and right in the downtown so we could walk to everything. There are some fancier and more expensive hotels on the other side off Haystack Rock but you'd have to drive to town. We would recommend this hotel or The Waves down the street looked nice too. read more

I only wish we could have stayed longer. My wife loves watching the sunset next to our gas fireplace. We have been returning to this hotel for over 15 years. It is on the beach, with a FANTASTIC view in every room!! The balcony allows us to enjoy the ocean smells, wildlife, and sunsets with ease. The rooms include a kitchenette, allowing for more flexibility with meals. The gas fireplaces add a lot of charm and warmth. The beds are comfortable, and it's easy to view the ocean from ALL PARTS of the room. The hotel is also centrally located to the quaint 'downtown'. This seems to be even more important in recent years, since parking has become more of a challenge in town, making it easier to park at the hotel, and simply walk two blocks to reach many wonderful restaurants, art galleries, and shops. My 87-year-old mother can enjoy the ocean and town no matter what the weather is like, due to the proximity to the beach and town. The rates are also reasonable compared to some of the other hotels, which always surprises me, since the other hotels often don't have the same advantages, in my opinion. The office staff are also very friendly, and responded immediately when we had questions. This is one of our favorite places to visit! Another important reason that we select this hotel every year, is even if the weather ends up being poor, we have a great view of the ocean (beachfront), along with a cozy gas fireplace, and we can bring food in if necessary. read more

When we stay in Cannon Beach and we're not renting a house for the hordes of in laws, this is where we stay. I like the ocean front rooms with the views, and I like that they had lounge chairs to lie in and stare at the ocean and stars at night. ( take a blanket). Last time we stayed in a double sloop, and it was just right for a couple with a kid or two. We had a fabulous view of the water out our sliding glass door, and a little deck. NIce! I think it's a pretty good value for Cannon Beach, and we would stay there again. read more

This is the most beautiful town I've ever been to and this inn is in the perfect location to enjoy it all! Walk down 6 steps and you are on a grassy strip that affords bbq's both gas and charcoal as well as chairs to enjoy the view! Just past that is the beach so there is an unobstructed view and you can hear the waves from your room! We stayed at Schooner's cove on a recent trip down the PNW coast, and it was just in a beautiful spot. It's right downtown so you can walk around and enjoy all of the shops, restaurants, and the brewery that are right there. It's RIGHT on the beach! You walk out the door and you're on the beach. Can't beat that. It's gorgeous. Goonies rocks are a short walk down the beach. The room itself was simple and nice. We had a "2 Bedroom" which had 2 beds but really only one actual bedroom. The other "bedroom" was a little area with a bed and no door for privacy. It was fine for our needs. Small bathroom. It was very clean and had a nice little stocked kitchen and sitting area too, with sliding doors that look out to the beach. Free and easy parking onsite. It wasn't very expensive either, especially for the beautiful atmosphere. If you are looking to take advantage of the hot tub, make sure you book when you arrive. We were only here for one night and couldn't get a hot tub reservation unfortunately- was all booked by the time we arrived. read more

The price I paid for high season is one thing, but when you're paying a CRAZY premium (5 star anywhere else this time a year would be same price); you expect trash to be picked up (I was there for six days) and fresh linens/and coffee to be dropped off. Like everyone else says, great place to stay right in the middle of town with awesome views and nice rooms. The view is just awesome, with a little deck you can hang out on or, if you're talented like my wife, set up a really cool time lapse photo. Being right in the middle of town is so nice; 2 blocks to Tom's Fish N Chips (which you should definitely check out), right behind Lazy Susan Cafe (another great place to check out), and a short walk to anything else, including the beach of course. The bed and couch are pretty firm; I wouldn't say they're uncomfortable but they're not super cozy either. They desperately need some footrests/Ottomans, although the chairs from the table will do in a pinch. Other than that everything was great and we will definitely be staying there again! read more

Great location. Lovely amenities. This place is a nice cozy Inn perfect for a romantic getaway or family vacation. Our room was a nice one bedroom with a pull out bed in the living room. Bed was super comfy and room was spacious. Small dining area and kitchen were included. There was a gas fireplace that heated up the room wonderfully. Everything looked recently updated. In style. High ceilings made the place feel a lot larger than it actually was. The view was great. We had large windows with a sliding glass door out to a balcony that overlooked the beach. You can spend a lot of time taking in the amazing view and fresh ocean breeze. It is also a great spot for classic photos of cannon beach. This spot is right in town so you can easily walk to shops and restaurants and get back to rest conveniently. It is also not too far from the famous Haystack Rock a Cannon Beach icon. Take a nice stroll down the beach and take all the photos your heart desires. Have a romantic moment with your sweetheart, etc. It is a lovely walk and you get in some nice exercise as well. Then come back and warm up with a hot bath and gas fireplace. They also have a hot tub at the hotel. You must make a reservation for this at the front desk. The only downside to this place was when someone took a shower in another room it was really loud. Just a minor annoyance. I would stay here again. read more

I think that Covid was hard on Schooners. We have stayed there several times before Covid hit. For some reason our room was very warm maybe because it was above the laundry. Lots of deferred maintenance in the bathroom. Bed was very firm woke up with very sore hips. Floor is very uneven lots of warped boards. Couch and chair not very comfortable. It has been a while since we have travelled and everything is EXPENSIVE including the rooms. I hope things get better for them because they are in a great location for shop and beach access. read more

Just got back home from a trip to cannon beach and this hotel was phenomenal. My husband and I stayed in room #55 which is a double captain (basically a two bedroom) on the top floor. The view was to die for as our bed was literally right next to the balcony which over looked the ocean. It had vaulted ceilings, a good sized kitchenette with a dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave and fridge. The bed was comfy and the entire room was clean and very welcoming. One awesome thing about this place is they do reserved hot tub times every 30 minutes. Basically you have to go to their office and pick a time to reserve it and its just you and your party in there for 30 minutes. Its enclosed and over looking the ocean so its very nice for you and your special someone. It's also very close to shops and restaurants and is easily walking distance. There is beach access from the hotel which is also awesome!! All in all, I was so impressed with this place. My husband and I agreed that we will definitely be back and have already recommended friends and family to stay here. The staff is so kind and helpful and really made a difference in our stay.
