I don't believe the positive reviews on this place. They make me think they are fake because this place is nothing like the positive reviews describe. It is one of the cheaper places to stay in Whitefish. It is also close to a dump. Everything is very outdated by 30-40 years. Paper thin walls. Showers that change temperature if someone in the building flushes a toilet. Pool was disgusting. Breakfast was barely passable because they made no effort. Some stale breads and two cereals and some yogurt. No elevator. On the plus side a microwave and fridge in every room I realize one of the cheaper places to stay. I was there on a holiday weekend and it was over 250 a night. Would not stay again read more

This is the crappiest hotel in Whitefish aside from the Downtowner. It felt and looked like a prison room. Hosts were loud the entire day and early in the morning (not guests who were loud). I wanted to check out at 615am and everything was locked up and no one was at the front desk. Dirty and overpriced. Unsafe electrical outlets. Overall just run down and beat. I would not stay here again- I actually looked for a better hotel and Airbnb's but everywhere else was booked. read more

Spent the night here after arriving on the Empire Builder in September. I think it has (thankfully) changed names from the "Cheap Sleep Motel" to the Inn at Whitefish. The owners were extremely friendly when we arrived. The check-in process was easy, the owners were eager to give us tips and suggestions about how to enjoy Glacier Park. Our room was not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable, just what we needed after a train ride. Would def. recommend this place if you're looking for a solid budget hotel option in the area. read more

We actually stayed here back in September of 2015 and I forgot to write the review and I just now saw it in my "bookmarks" to review. So here it is, a little late, but a funny one: So my mom and I get into the room that we had rented for a few nights while she was in Whitefish for her high school reunion. The first thing we noticed when we went into the bathroom was that there were two turds in the toilet! I kid you not. Flushed those babies down and hoped that it was not a bad omen for the rest of the room. Actually the room and furniture, for what it is, was passable. The bed pillows were not that comfy and neither the beds really, but overall it seemed okay and quite "motel-like" in the amenities and offerings. The A/C worked enough. The other thing is the walls are super thin in the motel. We actually could hear some dude peeing in the toilet (he must have had to really go) in the bathroom next to ours! That was actually funny to us. We didn't hear much else after that at least. We got the quieter section facing the green lawn interior and not the parking lot. The breakfast is basic motel fare. Roadhouse coffee with the powdered creamer and everything Styrofoam. If I remember they just had bagels, muffins, coffee, juice, and I don't remember anything else besides that actually. The dude at the front desk was cool with me at least and the second night I decided to get my own room cuz my mom was snoring. He relocated me into a quiet location upstairs at the end of the hallway kind of above the front desk area. It was good and I slept fine. He also gave me a bit of a discount when I asked. It was $25 off for two nights. Anyway. Two stars, two turds. There you go. read more

This place is a dump. At present a $300 a night asking price is a serious price gouge to what is a motel stay experience at best. The rooms are dirty, there is no coffee maker, no HD TV, two pillows per bed, a pool that is unusable, shower pressure that is a joke, and just one outlet if you want to charge anything. The sink is in the main room and not in the bathroom, so if you need to use it you will disrupt people trying to sleep. The walls are paper thin and the doors to get in are difficult to use with the key cards...by the way they give you one. Spend your money elsewhere! read more

We paid the $210.90 for a night before we saw the room, which was tiny, dark, and looked out on a scruffy parking lot. We took the Amtrak Empire Builder to Whitefish July 26, 2013 Just stayed at this hotel and for the price and accommodations you can't beat this in Whitefish Montana. *The rooms were clean spacious and quiet and had all the basics. *The pool worked *The Jacuzzi worked *The staff was polite, helpful friendly *Close to town, and great proximity to Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park. While I was out of my room for four hours, I left my dog in the room. Unlike many other hotels I've stayed in with my dog, they did not have me sign a waiver regarding dog protocols, such as "do not leave the dog alone in the room." I return to my room to find my dog missing. To say it was absolutely terrifying is an understatement. I'm running around the hotel and outside like a total maniac! No one is at the front desk at this time. I enter an employee area, to find my dog with an employee. The employee told me that my dog was barking and keeping everyone awake. While I empathize and agree that no one loves a barking dog, I would have returned home to the hotel immediately if I had been called and alerted of the situation. The hotel did not call me before they entered my room, and they did not call me after they took my dog. They did not tell me they had my dog. I had to frantically search the hotel, in total panic, before finding her. It was a NIGHTMARE. In addition to this, the room I stayed in was fairly dirty. The chair next to the bed was covered in dog hair from previous tenants. It's obvious this hotel, if traveling with dogs, puts you in a "dog friendly" room and they don't put much effort into cleaning between tenants... which explains the smell of old dog pee that wasn't fully cleaned, or wasn't cleaned very well! Overall- would not recommend. Lots of budget friendly places to stay that allow dogs in Whitefish. Even so, spending an extra $30 is worth it if it means you don't have to stay here. read more

We loved this little inn! The location was amazing, so close to downtown (5 minutes) and only a short 30 minutes from the entrance of west glacier national park. The front desk lady was extremely helpful with giving us tips on where to go, where to eat, and providing us with maps for our hikes. We would love to come back :) read more

Our room was filthy!!! Hair around & in the bathtub & sink. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke. They did move us to a new room, which after a thorough inspection, seemed clean. In the morning while using the toaster & microwave @ the same time, the circuit breaker tripped, leaving us in the dark while they fixed the problem. Stayed there a couple of weeks ago. Everything was as expected until the wife got a Brown recluse or Hobo spider bite. Decided we would move on to a nicer motel. Talked to the owner and he was not interested in helping out on the nights we stayed there. Had to take her to the Clinic. I would give this place negative stars if possible. The woman, Candace?, Constance? who ran the front desk was rude, antagonistic, erratic, and sadistic. I had made a reservation several months before for a busy holiday weekend but was given a different quote than what I was being checked in at. Two other parties at the front desk were in the same situation, so the error seemed to be more than a simple oversight or accident. It wasn't a big deal though - maybe a $20 difference - but I was disappointed and said so. During the following 20 minutes Candace seemed to refuse to check me in because I wasn't "happy." Her behavior was beyond unprofessional, it was erratic and confusing, and frankly abusive. After finally being checked in, one guest who witnessed the transaction said those 20 minutes were "better than TV" and another led a prayer circle outside to "rebuke her evil spirits" from me. After talking to some local folks in town, it seems that the Cheap Sleep has a reputation - an extremely poor one. Besides the frightening customer service, the rooms were dingy and moldy and my non-smoking room smelled of tobacco. I would have been better off sleeping in my car. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I had reservations at Cheap Sleep last week. My friend ended up getting a campsite in Glacier Park earlier than I expected, so I called the motel to see if I could cancel. I had missed the 24-hour cancellation window and was resigned to paying the full night's price. But when I explained the situation, the man I spoke at with at Cheap Sleep waived their policy, canceled the reservation, and wished me a great stay in Glacier Park. That's the kind of human touch that distinguishes an okay motel/hotel from one worth your business. Next time I'm in Whitefish I know where I'll be staying. read more

My husband, son and I stayed in room 223 from 7/26-7/31. The day we checked in, I found two small bugs on the wall. I didn't think too much of it. The day we were checking out, I found three of those bugs in the sheets. I realized that these were bed bugs, so I took the bugs to the housekeeper, who took them to the manager. They apologized and we left, not thinking too much of it, since we had no bites. The next day, the bites started to appear. My husband, son and I are COVERED in bites. I work in healthcare, and it is mortifying to go to work with bites all over my arms, hands, face and neck. I've called the hotel six times in the past few days. I was promised that the owner would call me on Wed. morning. He has not, and no one else will talk to me at all. I WANT A REFUND. I spent about $700, only to have to come home covered in bites, and now have to pay for a premptive extermination of my house, which is going to cost us between $600 and $1000. My 4-year-old is miserable, itchy, and has bleeding sores all over from scratching the bites. I have contacted the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, who can't believe how things are being handled, as well as the Department of Health, who will be inspecting the room this week. I am livid. Now I get to travel the 500 miles back to Whitefish to take the owner to small claims court. UPDATE 8/7/15: Owner returned my call this afternoon. He says he has taken the proper steps to ensure that the bed bugs are eliminated. He apologized for not returning my call sooner, citing his busy schedule running three motels. He says he is going to refund the money for the hotel, and once the pest control company finishes the preemptive extermination of my home, he will work something out on that end as well. He seemed genuinely sorry and concerned about the problem. He gave me his cell number to get ahold of him with info from the pest control company that I'm using here in Billings. I will update when my money has been refunded and when the problem is resolved. UPDATE 8/28/15: I just talked to the owner again. He has refunded the money for our stay. When we talked before, he told me he would pay for any pest control that we needed at our home... although I think he thought that we brought the bugs from our home, and wanted someone to blame. When I talked to him today, he said he will not refund the $150 I paid for a pest control company to come and check my home for bed bugs, because they did not find any bugs. On the other hand, if they had found bugs, he probably wouldn't have refunded the hotel money either, becasue he would have said we brought them with us. It cost the $150 for them to check our home, and if we had needed extermination, it would have cost apx. $1000. I thought he would be happy to pay the $150. I am extremely disappointed. He told me to call him next month after he has a chance to "go over things." I have scarring on my arms from the bites. The doctor said that the scars will fade, but may never go away permanently. Just thought everyone should know that. read more

The only thing not cheap about this place is the price! $90?!?! By the time taxes and stuff are in. We have stayed at much nicer hotels with everything you could ever want for only $10 more.... They might be less priced then some of the others in the area but I'd rather camp then pay to stay here again, or spring for the nicer place. There are no toiletries offered in the bathrooms. There is no one at the front desk after 11pm to help you if there's anything. The "continental breakfast" is bagels and muffins served in produce bags from the grocery store in an unused hotel room. Not even juice or milk to drink! Soooo glad we packed milk in the cooler for our toddlers or we'd have some tantrums to deal with. The pool is outdoors and wasn't working despite it being 2 days from June. The hot tub which is indoors was out of order. You pay for those things and it's not even available or good. I didn't even mess with the wifi. The rooms are old and outdated but that would not have mattered if everything else would have been pleasant. Next time we get a hotel that is missing something we'll always think "at least it wasn't whitefish!" Total rip off. Cheap is right!! Just went in to speak to the owner to let him know kindly that I was disappointed. He says "Well I didn't take the phone call!" He's the owner. He asked me, sorry yelled at me, what do you want me to do about it??! I said you could at least apologize for the non working amenities or maybe when we called a day ago to book explain that on the phone. He yelled straight from the beginning and was very defensive. A good owner makes an apology and tries to rectify the situation or uses someone's comments to improve themselves, not become defensive. Now I wish I hadn't cleaned up the room for the maid and made sure all the trash was collected and towels gathered. Do not stay here!!!! read more

Cheap Sleep Motel is rather inexpensive for the Whitefish/Kalispell area, but it is also Cheap! The motel seems rather old and outdated, the towels are thin and the pillows are hard. Didn't sleep very good and considered buying a pillow while there. One night, the smoke alarm started beeping at midnight every 30 seconds because the batteries were going dead. We heard people walking and talking in the hallways and a child crying in the next room. In the morning when we were leaving, there was a marijuana pipe just outside our door in the hallway! The breakfast choices were somewhat limited and we didn't eat there. On the positive side, the shower was good with strong water pressure. I don't plan on staying there again if we return. read more

This places doesn't even deserve one star. It is dirty, nasty and should be avoided. Our pillow cases were very dirty, and I asked for clean ones. The motel clerk said, "That's nasty, but we don't have any extras." So, he took pillows from another room. The carpet was so nasty we wouldn't take our socks off. We saw the good reviews, which is why we booked this motel. Either the management has changed and things have gone downhill fast or the reviewers were not real.
