I don't typically leave reviews, if ever. As may be obvious to anyone clicking my account, I got Yelp! just to leave this review; 5 stars. no questions asked. The room was great. Everything was fine. I had no issue with anything. It wasn't noisy. The balcony is cool. It's quaint. It's not a party. It's not an Airbnb. It's a French Quarter experience. But above and beyond everything was the front desk, Jose. I came in to book on the spot at the last second and being a bit hurried, it wasn't exactly the smoothest process on my end, and kept it professional and size through the other side. I was having problems obtaining a coupon online and he was able to facilitate that process right there in the front which made a night and day difference literally in my state. Pretty solid location, it's in the quarter but just far enough away from bourbon that it's not loud at night. Parking is hit or miss. I had to spend a chunk of money at a paid parking lot ($30/day,) but there are plenty of options nearby. Room was very small but it was enough for what I needed as a solo traveler. No fridge or microwave, so be aware of that. I did appreciate that there was a keurig with coffee in the room though!! There is a balcony with a few tables and chairs that you can utilize! The balcony isn't connected to specific rooms, so anyone can use it. Staff was very welcoming. I had to check in a day late because I was dealing with my mother's death a couple hours away; I let them know what was going on and I didn't have any issues when I was finally able to check in. Deposit was just $100 and was returned to my debit card within a few days of checkout. read more

This hotel is perfectly situated close enough to Bourbon Street and the French quarter, that you can walk just about anywhere you want to go. The price was pretty good and the beds were comfy. The down side unfortunately is that the closest parking is 3 blocks away if you have a car. (There is no on-site parking). There are also no refrigerators or microwaves. The doors are also pretty flimsy. I could push them in without much pressure, so it didn't feel too safe, other than the fact that the is a gated courtyard that separates you from the outside world. Staff was very pleasant and helpful when they were there, but I did try calling a couple days before I arrived to make sure they were open before we made our way there, but never received a return call. And when we arrived, we found out that no one was on premise to check us in except from 3 pm - 11 pm. If you just need a centrally located room to sleep in without many amenities, and a decent price, then this is your baby! But if you're looking for on-site parking, a refrigerator, microwave and a few more creature comforts, then you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, our stay was good, but I would have enjoyed a bit more luxury and been willing to pay for it. read more

Super comfortable beds! The rooms are small, but big enough for what it's intended for which is sleeping. Close to bourbon but able to sleep perfectly as I couldn't hear any of the chaos from a couple blocks over. Had a problem with our room and they immediately put us into a different room but allowed me to shower and get ready in it while our other room was being prepped. Keurig in room. No fridge but that was okay. Air conditioning worked great! The staff we met were very attentive. Ice machine on other side of hotel. read more

STAFF 1,0000/10 Miss Carolyn (apologies if I heard her name incorrectly) she said she's worked her 20+ years . Amazing, just an angle. So sweet, refereed to us as "her guests" and this is how I felt. My boyfriend was sick when we arrived to town and she checked us in early, she was a blessing. Such a sweet woman. The inn itself was beautiful! We had a suite. Large, comfortable , fridge , balcony. ONLY complaint was the TV didn't have hardly any channels (but I'm on vacation so I shouldn't be watching tv anyways) & the cell service in there was horrible but I blame Verizon. Otherwise it was perfect. Other staff was polite as well. When we come back to New Orleans we will be staying here. I will say, from a management side perspective- I was charged for the room and they had a pending 900 dollar charge on my card, went to the front and they showed me the only pending charge was a 100 security deposit. I then confirmed with my bank it was indeed the hotel, they waved the pending charge for me- I didn't get charged after all so, all good. But for those of us who don't have 900 dollars to be half hostage that is something to consider- but not staffs fault they assured me, showed me and did all they could for me. read more

We transferred to this location after a disappointing beginning at an expensive hotel. Here we found our second home. This time my son and his girlfriend got a separate room from us both accommodations we lucked out and got suites. Both rooms have dining areas and a living room, bathroom that is clean and no mold and bedroom has a king size bed. The LR and bedroom have tvs, there is free wi-fi and it's air conditioned. Our room is off the backyard courtyard which is nice. By doing what we did we saved $1000 dollars and we are extremely happy. Everyone is lovely here and very accommodating. read more

Booked hotel about a month in advance. This hotel is one of the converted townhouses in the French Quarters. The hotel wasn't hard to find and upon entering we were greeted. We got there about 12pm but our room wasn't ready yet; checkin is at 3. We were able to leave our luggage and roam the city for a bit until our room was ready. Once we returned we shown to our rooms. We had to step outside into the courtyard to enter. We had a room with a double bed and it was quite small. We weren't surprised as it looks just like the pictures online but it was tight. The bathroom was actually pretty spacious. The bathroom was only slightly smaller than the room. There was so much space that the keruig was housed in the bathroom. Besides small the room was cute, bed was comfortable and had everything we needed. The floors were a bit dusty, could have used a mopping. The next morning as we were leaving we are approached by a staff member and asked he we wanted an upgrade. Free upgrade, heck yeah! They tell us to return around 1 and that's when the room will be ready. We return around that time and pack up our stuff and head to our new room which is a 2 bdrm suite. The entrance for this room is on the other side of the building. This was a huge upgrade, coming from our very small double bed room to a 2 bdrm suite. One bedroom had a king size bed and the other had 2 double beds. There was a separate living room with a couch and a dining table. All 3 rooms had a tv. However upon entering we noticed that like the previous room there wasn't enough attention to detail on the cleanliness. There were cigarettes left in the ashtray on the balcony and the previous guests used soaps in the shower and like downstairs the floors were very dusty and so was the tops of all the furniture. Everything else appeared tidy. They need to incorporate mopping or a swifter into their cleaning regimen along with a duster. We had to wear socks or slippers anytime we had to walk around. The location of this hotel is great. Close enough to everything to walk but far away enough to be able to sleep in peace. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights thurs- sat, it was clean, the beds were comfy and the heater worked great but it took awhile of trying to figure out how to use it. It was freezing cold when we arrived it was about 40 degree weather, we tried to cut the heater on but we couldn't figure it out so the front desk lady came up to try and assist us. She attempted a few times but she couldn't get it to work as well. She was nice enough to bring us a portable heater, but it didn't do much. After my boyfriend youtube how to cut it on it worked great, thank god! Even though we had trouble with our heater the front desk was so helpful. Great little gem close SUPER close to Bourbon st, everything was great. Oh there no elevator so if your not capable of carrying your luggage up steep stairs request for a first floor room. read more

All you skeptics, heed my warning... While sitting on the bed, waiting to leave for dinner, in room #6, I heard a coin drop and roll across the floor. Now mind you, I had no metallic currency on my person! Also the bathroom door opens randomly on its own, much like a nightmare I had no more than two months ago. The entryway is directly across from a bar, and I'm positive that I heard rowdy revelers after 9pm! Taking into account each one of these inexplicable happenings, it's perfectly justifiable to state that this room is assuredly haunted with a malevolent spectre! Also, the bed creaks, the floor isn't completely level and the bathroom tiles have a little bounce to them. Other than that, it's a solid choice read more

This hotel is exactly what we were looking for. We are just here for 1 night with our 4 yo. It is only a few blocks from the main drag of bourbon st., but far enough away that it's quiet. We got the king suite with the fold out bed. The building is super old, 1800's, but definitely well kept. Its clean on the inside and looks like it's gotten a recent coat of paint. The only thing that is a bummer is there is no parking. The man at the front offered some suggestions though that are safe. It seems like there isn't any parking around here, though, so it's not the fault of the hotel. The hotel does have a balcony that looks down towards the action. The man with the purple hat at the front desk was very helpful. Definitely recommend for families or someone that doesn't want to be kept up all night from the music. read more

3.5 stars rounding up because...location, location, location! Nothing beats being close to all of the action yet far enough when needed to be. Just 2 blocks away is Bourbon St., plus the ever famous Pat O'Brien's as well as Preservation Hall are both on St. Peter (same as the hotel). We had two nights where our last stop was at either of those places and I tell you, walking home to your hotel in less than 10 minutes after a long night with booze is something you would very much appreciate at the moment. The boutique itself is small, housed in a historical building beaming with that distinct French Quarter flare. By that, I mean 2 stories with a balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. The inn has a courtyard inside with the rooms surrounding it. Our room was on the 1st floor which I didn't mind but let me warn you, it can get noisy in the morning since just across our room is the courtyard door that leads out to the street. We could hear the housekeeping lady talking loudly to other staff or guests arriving/leaving. If you're not a morning person, request for the 2nd floor. The accommodation itself feels a little cramped which is weird because the bathroom is very spacious. We had a full size bed which was comfy enough and I knew this wasn't a place I would be expecting to have a memory foam mattress. Pillows could be newer and fluffier if I must say. Offering daily housekeeping, I expected the room and bathroom to be cleaned as if each day we were a new guest checking in. That wasn't the case. Our bed was well-made but the room and bath was sloppily cleaned without refilling the Keurig machine supplies and toiletries. There was one night when we got to our room with no towels which the front desk apologized for and said their housecleaning lady called in sick that day. Not sure why they don't have spare towels - and did that mean she was also in charge of washing the towels daily? Another thing that bugged me was the smell of the room. It smells of old furniture and mosquito spray. Being in a swampy area, I guess I'll prefer that over mosquito bites. Nevertheless, staying here was really experiencing the French Quarter and for that authenticity, I don't regret booking this place. Heck, I would even still recommend it. read more

This was the perfect spot to stay in the French Quarter. It's not directly on Bourbon Street but it was only two blocks away that I could still sleep and not hear the caos till 4am. We came back about 1-2am so our street was peaceful. The building itself was beautiful as well as inside. I love the brick walls and high ceilings. I was a little disappointed that we were not on the second floor as they had the small deck to do people watching. We stayed here three nights and they cleaned our room after the second day. They had only four towel sets when this room was supposed to be for six. Two queen beds and one sofa couch for two. The sofa bed was not comfy as its too soft and kinda of uneven. The queen beds were high but ok. The sheets were clean but not really soft. They did provide 4 pillows to use on each bed. The bathroom was in good condition but the showerhead was not spitting out a lot of water but good enough. We also could not get cold enough water when we showered! Never experienced that! The first day we were there, they had sewage issues for two days that we were recommended to not drink the water but we could shower. We bought bottled water for the next two days. The AC worked great in both rooms that I was freezing but the boys liked it cold since it was hot and humid outside. They did have a small frig and Kurig coffee machine provided. The staff was nice and you have to ring the doorbell in order to go in; nothing stolen and no bed bugs! The wifi worked best in the room then the living room area. We were barely here so this place was decently priced for our stay and for what if offered. If we were to come back, I would still stay here again as it was in the best location to everything.... read more

REVIEW OF ROOM 14: GORGEOUS, character-filled boutique hotel in the Quarter right on St. Peter and Burgundy near Rampart. I LOVED staying here. Steps away from Bourbon Street, but far enough away that you can get a good night's sleep. The rooms are beautiful with hard wood and exposed brick. Our room was slightly humid, and the AC operates just at comfortable. If you like it freezing cold, you won't get that in Room 14. Gorgeous balcony and quaint courtyard. Everyone who came to our hotel thought it was so cool. No refrigerator, no chair, not much space for anything (although it did have plenty of drawers and a small armoire), so pack light. read more

Stayed here for a night following a cruise. The hotel was well located away from the crowds but close enough to everything that you could walk. The hotel itself was a classic French quarter building with narrow alleys, steep stairs, and little courtyards. The staff were friendly and let us leave our bags in the lobby after checkout before we had to depart for a later flight. The lobby doesn't stand out and navigating the hotel itself is a bit tricky. There were a few issues with the hotel including a malfunctioning hair dryer, coffee maker, mouse droppings in the drawers and a shower that took 5 minutes to warm. The cleanliness was less than desirable but the sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable. read more

I love this place but I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone, depending on what level of comfort and convenience they're used to. That being said, I'll start with the cons so if it's not your cup of tea you can start looking elsewhere. There's no parking. We did wind up parking in a pay-to-park lot about three blocks away. That feels like a long way after a twelve hour drive while hauling suitcases. It wasn't so bad the next day after rest and shopping. If you want a two bedroom suite, you'll have to haul your suitcases upstairs because there's no elevator. Also, the couch can fold out into a bed but I wouldn't recommend it. The mattress was pretty flat and old so we just folded it back up and my daughter slept on the couch as is. She's petite so fit just fine. That's it. The only negatives I have. Now for the pros. This is an old building and you can practically feel the history, which appealed to all five of us. It has a very unique smell (maybe old building smell but it strongly reminded me of how ballet shoes/studios smell. Weird but I love it!). There are all kinds of bars and places to grab a bite to eat within walking distance. The mattresses were firm and beds were comfortable. I slept better here than I have in weeks on my infinity mattress at home! Everything was clean and the staff have all been extremely nice and helpful! The courtyard could be called a little creepy, but that's right up my alley and I think it's cool! I sat out on the balcony earlier and enjoyed listening to people walking by and chatting. I FEEL like I'm in New Orleans in the historic French Quartet and not some random hotel with a New Orleans theme. If it weren't for the fact that I'm no longer a spring chicken and have arthritis in my back and hips I'd definitely stay here again (although I may do it anyway, who knows?). There was plenty of hot water, water pressure was great, and when I asked for more towels and shampoo, I received them promptly. All this being said, we did NOT come during Mardi Gras! The place isn't packed so we're not competing with a bunch of other guests for hot water. I love this place, but I love old buildings and I definitely feel like I'm in a totally different place than my home town. It may not be for everyone but it was perfect for what we were looking for! read more

This was an impulse trip... So I considered myself lucky to find a place at a relatively good price and within walking distance of most points of interest... While there weren't any rooms available when I got there for an early check in, the person at the desk was nice enough to take my bag while I went out for a walk and get breakfast. I requested a room with a balcony, buy didn't get one... I was a little salty at first about this. But after a couple late nights coming in, climbing stairs was the last thing that I wanted to do!! I was given an inner courtyard room which wound up being great. Nothing over the top going on here. But the room was nicely decorated, extremely clean, comfortable, and overall a very quiet location... There was a bar across the street, a park two blocks away, and other shops along the two block walk to Bourbon Street... I think that this was a really good location to stay, mainly because there wasn't much walking or driving traffic there. The metal door and narrow hallway that I had to enter from the side street freaked me out at first. But even with the bar across the street, there literally wasn't anybody hanging out. The interior of the room was similar to a Courtyard by Marriot... If I want to be close to Bourbon Street without actually staying in the middle of everything, I'd choose this place to stay again. read more

If you get Room 19 I hope you're a very heavy sleeper. The doors don't close properly and it's basically like sleeping in a tent. The doors close and lock but there's a half-inch gap that's open to the outside! All the street noise is extremely loud and clear. On day 3 I saw they have earplugs in the nightstand, which made me really mad because they are obviously aware of the noise problem! My A/C and heater (needed to use both in 4 days lol) were iffy and didn't work well even thought it's a small room. I didn't have a keurig coffee in my room. There wasn't an extra blanket for the chilly nights. I absolutely had the worst 3 nights of sleep in my whole life in this room. The beds and pillows are very comfortable so I'm giving a star for that. I guess if you are pass-out drunk you'll sleep ok, but if not buckle in for a rough time. My friends stayed downstairs in Room 20 and their ceiling and walls were pretty thin, could hear upstairs guests walking very loud, but the brick wall side was nice and quiet. Their climate control worked perfectly, they had a fridge and coffee pot, and they had TWO box fans in their room. I couldv'e really used those to drown out the noise in my room but only discovered them on the last day. Got to remember this used to be a boarding house and apparently there's been no further insulation added since the early 1900's. The beds are comfortable, the place was clean, and the location is good. The staff was very nice. But you really need to be careful about which room you get. read more

Stayed here on my 4th trip to New Orleans, and I have to say I am a fan. The location was ideal, a few blocks away from Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. We had 6 girls staying in the suite, with 2 queen beds and a pullout couch in the living room. There was also a small dining table, coffee machine, and refrigerator that got some use. It was very convenient to have in room wifi with a strong connection as multiple of us had to work, while the others used the wifi to update our instagram and snapchat! If you are staying in the living room on the pullout couch bring earplugs as the street has about 2 bars on it which stay open all through the night, so it can get a bit lousy. I would definitely recommend this hotel for future stays in New Orleans. A better price was found on hotels.com than calling the hotel directly. Minus one star because we did not have hot water for the first 24 hours- which was a strain for 6 women who had just flown in and even the next morning could not shower in the room. The front desk said they would send someone by twice, which did not happen. On the third call to front desk, they gave us access to another suite-- which the front desk person actually did not have the authority to do, we found out. When someone finally came to look at the shower it was an easy fix, so I wish it would have just been done the first time we asked. read more

Pros: Great location. People in the streets but not crazy. Quiet at 2am when we finally got back to the room. Rented this place because it had 4 beds and we had a good sized group. We had a second floor balcony which was awesome for people watching. It's just far enough away from Bourbon street to not hear any noise or have to deal with crowds. Cons: The room was old which I expected in that area. No problem with that. However, the AC unit on the wall was functioning but had a waterfall of water coming down onto the table in the living area. In the bedroom I noticed a couple old, way dead insects on my bed. They blew out of the AC unit on the wall next to the bed. Final thoughts: Location was great, room was big enough to accommodate our group, and I would definitely stay again. I have visited New Orleans many times and have stayed usually in the hotel chains. I joined some friends for Halloween this year and was glad I took the impulsive trip. I traveled to attend all the Halloween festivities. Let's start with location - I enjoyed that it was in the french quarter and 2 blocks from Bourbon St. I loved the look of the hotel - it embodied the historic Spanish design and had the gas lamps and balcony. There are a few courtyards to hang out that makes it feel private. The staff were friendly and helpful if you requested or needed help with pointing out local spots. My friends booked the 2-Bedroom Suite. One room had 2 queen beds and one queen bed. Each room had a flat screen television. The suite area offered a dining room table with a living room coffee table and flat screen television. The living room sofa was also a fold-out bed. Also in each room is a Keurig machine that the coffee drinkers loved. The bathroom was a decent size. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed the ability to control the temperature a ceiling fan and air conditioner in the living room and in each bedroom. Ok - back to the location. It is close to the Louis Armstrong Park - they have lots of community activities happening there for FREE - so it's worth a walk to check out. You can get to the Treme neighborhood with a 15 Minute walk and if for nothing alone - visit Willie Mae's Scotch House - On Many "Best Fried Chicken" lists and featured on the Food Network a lot. It's worth the walk and waiting in line. Check out my review of them too. Close to St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. Across the street is a cool "gay bar" - 700 Club. A few stops were made there before and after activities - the bartenders are cool and they seem to attract locals - so it was a nice chill spot - especially on Halloween Night. The best part of this location - is you can walk anywhere in about 10-15 minutes. You are close to the craziness - but won't get annoyed because you are far enough away. If there is a negative - we were located in a 2nd floor suite - the ice machine is downstairs. Guess what - when you go out and come back in - remember - Get Ice - just a small adjustment. If you want a great french quarter hotel - I would stay in this hotel again. read more

Starting with the positives... the location was perfect, the ac was cold and the bed was comfortable. However, the shower wasn't draining properly so we had to stand ankle deep in water while showering. The tv in the bedroom was not functioning. There were tons of random long black hairs throughout. Our key cards randomly stopped working twice. There was a lot of dust. There was also a foul smell in random parts of the suite. Granted I know with an old building, there will be smells but this smell was not of an aging building. It smelled like mold and urine. It was just a generally unclean feeling. I was very surprised and disappointed because I had heard such good things. I don't recommend. read more
