I have been very mindful about Covid, and have been strong on social distancing, but after seeing a diagram on Innov8's Covid-setup, I decided that it looked safe enough to come in- and I'm very happy with the results. Each station had plenty of space around it, and I felt safe the whole time. The hair washing station was sanitized after EVERY use, masks were worn at all times- but the service and quality was still excellent. Everything was squeaky clean and it was a nice few hours of relaxing escape. (That scalp massage ) Katie helped me developed my colorful hair vision, and even recommended some tips to help the color last longer (especially with Covid times in mind). After coloring and cutting, my hair looks and feels so much healthier and softer, and the bright colors definitely brighten up my mood! Thank you Katie and Innov8 for an always excellent job! I came here for the first time over a month a go to get my ombre redone it had grown out and I wanted to go lighter. I found Katie on IG.... Even though it's 30 minutes away from my house, Innov8 is my new favorite salon and I will be happily making the journey to have my hair done by the sweet, talented, and lovely Molly. My last haircut (at another salon that shall not be named) was a traumatic experience to say the least, so I waited 5 months to let it grow out. I came to Molly looking for her to salvage my bad cut into something that I could continue to grow out. She cut some of the bulk out of the back of my hair to change the shape without sacrificing length. One month later and it is growing out beautifully. As for color, I wanted to try the ombre thing, which Innov8 clearly specializes in. However, my hair is on the shorter side, so I wanted something very subtle and sun-kissed. Molly delivered! Probably the best salon I've ever been to! The venue itself is small and located right next to a coffee shop, which I wish I could have gone to right after. Anyways, my hair was done by the lovely Crystal. She was super professional and very friendly. We had much to talk about as she was doing my hair. I requested a balayage and a cut, and I did mention that this would be the first time ever getting a balayage. Since my hair was faded to the way I wanted at the ends, she suggested to just color my roots down to get the balayage effect. So I agreed and she went right to work. She mixed the colors pretty quickly and matched it to the T! And the color itself didn't sting my scalp or smell at all. I was so surprised and happy. When she washed the color out, she did a very relaxing rub of my scalp and temples. Then she cut my hair to my desired length, blow dried it, and offered to curl or straighten it. Let me just start off by saying Melissa, you're the best! I have never dyed my hair before and was unbelievably scared at possibly ruining my virgin hair but was ready to make the change. I had an appointment yesterday with Lachelle to get a pink stain dip dye out of my ends that I had done over the summer, and to refresh with a trim and blonde ombre. Before I get into it, I just wanted to say I really appreciate how quickly they were willing to get me in for an appointment. Lachelle was great. Very friendly -- a little on the shy side, but still easy to talk to. She listened to what I wanted, and worked meticulously on my hair the entire time. Unfortunately, we could not get all the pink out in one sitting--the stain had just done its work. But, to be fair, Lachelle did a wonderful job getting out as much as she could, and the tone of my hair is just lovely. I've never bleached/dyed my hair before the dip dye, so I was really worried about looking like a brassy mess. Not a salon to go to when you have naturally dark hair. These hairstylists use pravana but are not using the right combinations to lighten and color hair without that brassy or bronze color. When I went there to get my hair colored by (name I'd rather not mention), I showed several photos of high balayage ombré ash color, which are the likes of Guy Tang's work... I asked if she can achieve the color, she said yes! I asked again if she is very sure... She said yes again! She also sounded confident. She had to tone my hair twice and still didn't get nearly the color that I wanted. I also felt cheated that she only bleached and colored the tips of my lower interior hair... Doesn't she realize it wouldn't look right when I put it up in a pony tail??! After sitting there for 4-5 hours, nothing came out right. Color was so off from what I showed her and I paid $20 less but I ended up giving her a $20 for her sad efforts... But it doesn't compensate the fact I have to wear my hair with brassy tones. She said that I can come back to get the color I wanted.., are you kidding??! I'm not paying another $150.00+ on a job you can't do well. A true hair colorist is someone who can achieve a natural contrast from one's natural color and be able to make corrections such as blurring out obvious miscolored hair mishaps or outgrowth. If anyone coming here to get an ash blonde with their dark hair, don't do it!! Also, this place needs A/C!!! read more

Making a appointment with Jenell was incredibly easy. They were closed the day I needed the appointment but I was preparing to leave for a week so, on short notice Jenell offered to come in on the day they were closed and work on my hair. I was in terrible need of a cut but she also assured me that she would be able to help with my color as well. I let her know beforehand that I have very dense curls and thick hair, Jenell assured me that she would be able to work with my hair type and would be able to fix it. Previously my hair was fried from bleaching and I had lost alot of the bouncy, springy curls I used to have. On the day of my appointment I arrived and was greeted at the front desk by a huge smile and she started working on me and my friends hair immediately. We were offered water, coffee, tea, beer or wine. Of course we opted for beer and wine ;-P. She let me know that she had thought about the results i was trying to achieve and thought about how she was going to do it for the past few days, which meant worlds to me since she had put some thought into it. They couldn't fix what needed to be done. I tried to reschedule my appointment but the girl who did my hair never got back to me after I said I needed to reschedule. As someone who gets paranoid when I let my hair fall into the hands of someone else, I had a hard time finding a salon that I thought would be suitable. Long story short, I was disappointed. I came in looking one way ans I walked out with a new trendy hair color. The issue was poor service. I just felt alienated, which is normal for me, but this place especially. I mean it's like any ordinary salon. I no longer reside in Long Beach. I moved about 3 years ago but I remembered my first hair salon experience in a while. All giddy and excited, I left confused and faced a dilemma. Ever since then, salons were my worst fear although you'd trust that they know what they're doing.
