For myself been going to navy for couple of years now, but both my nephews love the results they usually cry and get sad with their haircuts at some place my sister would take them too. I want to give a huge thank you to the barber with the Frankenstein logo on his apron ... I didn't catch his name, but he deserves recognition. I brought my toddler in as a walk-in, and I was honestly nervous because my son can react very strongly during haircuts. Even though my son struggled and moved a lot, the barber was incredibly patient, gentle, and understanding the entire time. He really did the best he could with the situation, and the haircut still turned out great. I didn't get the chance to thank him properly before we left, but I'm genuinely grateful for how kind and patient he was. Hopefully next time my son will be calmer. Truly a great barber! read more

Had a very poor experience. I have asked my barbers for the same low fade, with the same numbers my entire life, and this was a very, very disappointing try in a new shop. There was a cosmetologist and a barber in the shop. The cosmetologist had a client, and the barber was scrolling through Instagram on her phone; this made me think she didn't even work there. I have never been here before, so I sat down on the leather couches. The shop looks great. The older woman asked me if I was here for a haircut, and to sign in if I was. Okay, no problem. Before I sat back down, the younger woman told me to sit in her chair; oh, so you do work here? She asked me how I wanted my hair cut, and I told her the same thing I've told every barber. She asked what number I wanted, and it was clear we were both defining the style in alternative ways. She began to get frustrated that we couldn't come to an agreement on the terms, and in hindsight I should've shown a picture because some folks are visual learners I guess, but this is the ONLY barber that I have met that didn't understand what I wanted, and I just didn't even want her to operate a pair of clippers near me with her attitude. I had to wait for the cosmetologist to do my haircut, which was quite phenomenal actually. While I tried to strike up conversation with her to ease the tension in the air created by her daughter, her daughter kept butting in and making rude remarks about race, saying that my issues were not her problems; I felt like I was arguing with an ex girlfriend. This is not how you keep clients. She ensured that I wouldn't be returning, even though her mother was kind and tried to make me feel as welcome as possible. This was a shame. read more

I've been procrastinating a review for this place for a while and now is time to provide some feedback for their outstanding service. Innovations is a family run business. Basically one sister is the owner (Christina) and the other 3 barbers are sisters or cousins. I've been a regular customer for a few years and like them because they do a great job doing razor fades. Unlike other places that I used to go, they do the razor fade with an electric razor, instead of a razor blade. This makes your fade last longer, plus I think is more sanitary. When I first started coming to Innovations I was a little skeptical for a woman doing my hair, because I was so use to going to male barbers. I normally go there every weekend, Fridays or Saturdays and I can tell you that all of them do a great job. My favorite is Delia, because she seems to go more into detail, plus I enjoy our conversations. The other barbers are Gisela and Patty, which also do a good job. The place looks more on the high end than the typical barbershop. I've been to high end barbershops and this place is comparable ( When comparing haircuts). This place doesn't serve alcohol people or maybe they do :) A regular razor fade can cost between $12 to $30 in the L.A. area, depending where you go. The price at Innovations is $14, which I think is great for the quality of the haircut and service you get. So don't think about it, if you live around the area and need a haircut you cannot go wrong with Innovations. Even if you have to drive a little far. I drive all the way from OC to Whittier just to get my haircut. That is just me, because I like their quality, service and prices. Cheers yelpers! read more

I wish I could give this shop a 0. I called a week ago to schedule an appointment for my son. She texted me with two reminders about my appointment. We show up at 2:20 for our 2:30 appointment knocked on the door like we were told. Once they opened the door Christina asked us What time was our appointment (2:30). Then I told by Christina that she already had someone at 2:30 and that we had to wait until 3:30 for my 5 year old son to get his hair cut. Very unprofessionally would not recommend this shop no anyone. read more

If I could give this salon, and the owner, a "0" I would. DONT COME HERE-SHE WILL OVERCHARGE YOU AND NOT TELL YOU UNTIL SHE IS DONE with your hair, AND WHEN YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. First of all, Christina, the owner of the Salon, thinks her small salon in Whittier is on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It is not, her "salon" is located on an extremely dirty corner on Hadley & Pickering. Her mirrors, windows, the couch that she makes you sit on while she comes in 30 minutes late, the chairs, and the shop as a whole is filthy. I guess she thinks that just sweeping the floors makes it clean. WATCH OUT, because she charges you like you are in a high end shop-not even close. So-I came in twice. The first time, she did taped-in extensions and color. Very good job, very reasonable, and very pleasant. The SECOND TIME-she missed on the color and burned the ends of my hair. Not only that, but she charged me $375.00 for a reverse Ombre. Okay-when she did my extensions AND the color the first time it was a bit more than that-but to just do my hair with no cut, no nothing, not even dry it, and to make the color so unnatural-It was AWFUL.I was so upset when I left-especially because she never even warned me-If she would have told me the price (which she should do because there is no pricing anywhere-but again, she expects you to just pay whatever she dreams up), prior to actually doing anything, I would have politely passed. Stay in your lane-I know that I cannot afford the price that you charged me-AS WELL AS you do. I wanted to come for a third time because I really liked the first job and I just thought she was having an off day, decided to be greedy, and decided that I was going to the victim of her price gouging. There are many hair salons and many many people that have their license, that do excellent work, are reasonable, don't make their customers wait for them, don't lie on the phone about being booked when they sure as hell are not, and don't tell their customers that they stayed open when everyone else had to close around them because they are THAT GOOD. So-AFTER the last appointment I set boundaries-so sad, I have NEVER had to do that with any other hair dresser-EVER, and I ASKED her if she would please let me know BEFORE HAND how much she would charge me. I should have known by her attitude that she really did not want to put on extensions-why did she not just be honest and tell me that? Because she expected me to PURCHASE extensions (which I always do), and then come in so that she could look at them to let me know if she would be able to put them on, and give me a price. WHAT? When you purchase extensions, it is often a done deal. So, when I called her to set up an appointment with her she asked me what type I would be bringing in-and I have not had this particular type in a long time so I told her and she said that she did not know if she did that type but just to come in-and I asked her to tell me what type so that I would purchase the right kind. SHE EXPECTED ME TO WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY AND BRING IN JUST ANYTHING -she obviously does not do extensions often-She then asked for a $50.00 deposit-for WHAT? To get out of bed and be late? THEN, when I called her to set up an appointment because the prior 2 times before she was too busy-she was booked for 2 months straight, and in the interim, I told my sister about the FIRST TIME she did my hair so my sister called and make an appointment for the NEXT DAY, walked in, Christina was not there, my sister looked around, saw the filth and walked out. Anyway, I did not understand what type of hair she was talking about so I tried to ask her what she meant so that I would be able to look it up on the internet-she was so adversarial and argumentative with me -for what? This is your profession and not mine-you should have tried to help me choose something that you CAN DO. I am just a customer. She wants me to come in and bring just whatever so she can give me options-For what? I did not say that I did not want to come in-I just wanted to know what she meant by Keratin-I later found out that it was EXACTLY what I have purchased, so there would have been no issues-but I now know why-she wanted me to come in, so that she could look at my hair, quote me an outrageous price and WASTE my time and money. I KNOW she did not want to take the 4 hours to do it. Whatever she would have told me, if it was above what I have been charged before , I would have said NO. Then I would have to wait until she decides to give me the $50.00 back? NO THANKS. I should have been smart and read all of these bad reviews first-seems LIKE YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
