I was referred to Rich and his company through a friend of mine. I gave Rich a call, and he returned my call the same day and came out for estimate with in a day or two. I reviewed my estimate with Rich, authorized work to be done and we scheduled for a specific time. His employee Francesco was on time and very professional. he did a great job with the installation of my floor and had very little to no waste, I bought more than i needed because I figured in a waste factor. Thats ok, I like this floor so much I may use it in another area of my house. Not only was the installation great, Francesco fixed a couple of things, like the floor was squeaking like crazy in an area, he figured it out and fixed it, cant say i miss that squeak now. He also noticed one of my doors where he was putting floor down was not closing very well, he said me has this door always closed like this, i replied unfortunately yes, he said well not any more, he made some adjustments and it now closes great. The floor looks great, he also reinstalled baseboard trim and shoe. Im afraid to walk on it, don't want to ruin his great job. He was very clean and thorough, could not tell he was there after he was done cleaning up after himself. I would recommend Rich and his company to anybody, and I plan to use them again in future projects. Rich and his team installed site finished hardwood floors in on my whole first floor and made stair treads in May of 2014. They did everything when they said they would for the price they quoted. When the bottom stair tread turned out looking really ugly, I sent Rich a picture, and he had it rebuilt the next day, no questions asked and did an excellent job. The BIG difference with Innovative Wood Floors is what happened afterwards. 3 weeks after they finished, I noticed some drips and a few off color fill bits. I also managed to put a HUGE scratch on the floor by dragging a table that didn't actually have felt pads - oops! Again, Rich came right out and fixed the things that were his responsibility, and amazingly, fixed the thing that was my fault too! Even MORE amazing, I reached out to Rich in November 2015 with a few questions about how to get paint off the floor and a strange looking spot. I was thinking that he might give me some suggestions on how I could fix it, but, no! Rich came all the way out to my house (over an hour) and again fixed things that were my fault and took ownership for the strange spot! That is WAY ABOVE and BEYOND! Rich and his team did a fantastic job refinishing my hardwood floors on my entire first floor, two staircases and an upstairs hallway. The 20 year old floors were in good shape, but had weathered/faded, there were scratches and cracks and the color was dated - an amber/natural color. I interviewed 4 companies for the job, and it was apparent with Rich's first visit, that he knew what he was talking about, had the experience and expertise to do a great job. Was I right!!! Rich's team, led by Francisco, were incredibly careful to plastic off rooms/cabinets/doors, and spent 3-4 hrs the first day just setting up before they started sanding. They were extremely careful and respectful while in my home. When it came to choosing a darker stain color, Francisco spent a couple hours with me trying different combinations to achieve the look that I wanted. He nailed it, and the floors look beautiful and look gorgeous with my cherry cabinets and dark granite countertops, both of which I wanted to keep. Rich kept to his schedule, his price and commitments. He was responsive in communicating to me during the project and he and his team were a delight to work with. We were remodeling our kitchen and were on a tight budget. Rich came out and gave us a quote that we could afford. We were also able to save some money by removing the old floor and preparing for install ourselves. He was very flexible and easy to work with. When it came time to install, he was on time and worked with my schedule. His crew was polite and kind and patient with me as I mulled over the stain choices for what probably felt like hours. They offered to use a water popping technique that made the wood floors look amazing. Though it took more time, it did not cost more money, and the end result is simply beautiful. Rich was easy to contact and was ready to answer all of my questions throughout the entire process. Rich and his team also installed trim for us, and that was expertly and neatly done as well. Again, knowing I was on a budget, he offered to save me some money by having me paint the trim myself. Rich and his crew at Innovative Wood Flooring did an awesome job on our Master bedroom and walk in closet. Initially, I was happy with Rich's professionalism in explaining the job and giving us a very fair estimate. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had a good feeling about him. In the end, I was ecstatic with the results!!! These guys don't just lay floor, they are craftsmen! They are very good at what they do, they are tidy and they are timely! The 2 installers, (Francesco and Shaun) also went above and beyond the call of duty when they suspected that our washing machine in the closet might be leaking. Fearing it could do damage to the new flooring, the two moved the washer/dryer out, removed some of the sub flooring and took photos to determine if there was any long standing problems! As it turned out, all was fine but these two really went the extra mile to make sure the situation was sound before they started their install. We reached out to a few wood floor companies for advice, direction and pricing in updating our current flooring to hardwood. We chose Innovative Wood Floors in Downers Grove and we are delighted with our decision. Rich, the owner, shared his knowledge and experience so that we felt comfortable with our choice of wood, stain and finish. Our original flooring was a mix of ceramic tile and laminate flooring. Rich and his crew removed the original flooring and all the debris, prepared our base floor and installed, stained and finished the new oak flooring. We now have a beautiful wood floor that we enjoy daily thanks to Rich and his crew. We also had Rich install some ceramic tile in the laundry, powder and primary bathrooms. Just had wood floors refinished in my living room, dining room, kitchen and hall. My kitchen hardwood had been installed about 10 years ago by someone else and I wasn't satisfied with the finish on it. My dining room had a parquet floor, but the living room was the strips. Those floors were original to the 1962 house. There were different colors - I wanted it all the same. One other company told me they couldn't change that parquet floor without raising it. Rich came in, said that would be no problem. His crew also took out some boring tile in my entry and meshed the wood with the original. Also replaced one cracked stair. All the floors have meshed together quite well. The crew was great in containing the dust. they even told me if I needed to take plastic off in parts of the kitchen in the evening, they would re-tape the next day. The process of selecting the color can be nerve racking but they patiently put down colors, got more from the van, mixed some for me, etc to make sure I found the right one and I did! We had them replace our living room (carpet) and kitchen floors (vinyl) with hardwood and asked them to match the new floors to our current hardwood in the hallway. We also asked them to demo the hearth tile at the front of our fireplace and replace with updated tiles. This is our second time using Innovative Wood Floors and as before we give them a 5 star rating. This time they did our two bedrooms and did a great job. Rich and his crew, Devon and Michael, were great and even patched up a 15 Year old floor installed by the builder. Did such a nice job I can't tell which are the new boards from the original floor. As I mentioned this was the second time I hired Innovstive. The first time, after the job was done, I noticed a soft spot that was caused by depression in the concrete floor. I met with Rich and he made me feel comfortable that they would be able to meet our expectations. The job included remove a fair amount of tile and then installing new hardwood flooring to make it seamless with other hardwood flooring that it would look like it had always been there. The crew that arrived including Shawn and Poncho did in my opinion an excellent job. Believe it or not they showed up when they said they would be there and just did a great job. Rich & his team at Innovative Flooring did a terrific job on a home I purchased. They truly made it look like a new home. The oak floors were decades old and now look brand new, seriously. I am rarely impressed, and this work is impressive. The entire team was professional. In addition, they cleaned up very thoroughly after the job was complete. We had our existing wood floors resurfaced and added wood floors to our living room. I was a little nervous about adding the new floors because I thought you would be able to tell that it was an add on but they turned out perfect!! We were so happy with the Innovative Wood Floors refinishing of our 1st floor that we contracted with them to replace the 2nd floor wall to wall carpeting with white oak. During the 6 day project Rich and his team removed the floor and stairs carpets, leveled and screwed down the plywood underfloor, installed and finished the white oak in four bedrooms and the halls. His team moved some large pieces of furniture between the rooms as they were finished so we didn't need to move them downstairs. The floors look great and they don't creak anymore. read more
