He gave me a quote for demo and installation (I'd say in the middle range of all the quotes I was able to get) and he helped me pick out the flooring. We had carpet in the bedrooms (which I swear had stuff growing in it, it was so disgusting) and we had poor quality/cheap engineered hardwood in the living areas. JP tore out the carpet and old hardwood and replaced it all with a very good quality engineered hardwood. I went with an engineered hardwood made by Mirage Floors, Carousel finish, wide planks, a pretty thick top layer which means it should last a while and can be refinished a few times, and I love it so much. It looks so amazing and professionally done. JP also installed a cork underlayment for soundproofing, and I think it also evens out the floor and makes it softer/more comfortable to walk on. Every step of the way Johnny was helpful, kind and responsive. I have two condos in the South Loop (in the same building) and our building association can be pretty demanding when it comes to remodeling projects. A lot of paperwork, back and forth, and hoops to jump through. Johnny was cool as a cucumber the whole time, answered the association's questions and we met all the requirements before starting the project. Johnny and I agreed on a start date, he told me how long it would take, and he and his crew totally nailed it. They worked so, so hard. They showed up every day at 7am and worked until 5pm. Johnny said our 3-bedroom condo would take 7 days, and he said our 1-bedroom condo would take 3 days, and that's exactly how long it took. I also have to mention Johnny's brother, Danny, who was just fantastic. He was a big part of the process, too, and he made sure everything was done right. Like Johnny, Danny was so level-headed, kind, and incredibly hard-working. Highly recommend!

While the job was completed at a reasonable price, it was more trouble than it should have been. I'd choose another company if I had to do it over again. Despite paying Dan to handle all aspects of the install, his contractors relied on my condo building engineer to complete some of the work, and even left early before the job was finished. When Dan sent a final payment request without following up on the end results, I messaged him to let him know there were some areas that required touching up. As a paying customer, I didn't think it was unreasonable to let him know that some areas were not completed to my satisfaction, but he didn't respond well to this communication and got very defensive. Another resident in my building reported a similar experience with Dan. Eventually, one of his contractors came back out and begrudgingly completed the requested touch-ups. A little less than a year after the install, I had some issues with an area of the install. I reached out to Dan for recommendations, but he never responded.

For the bungalow, he suggested I go for a darker color to match the wood. He asked something like, " do you want to refinish or restore?" I was a little tentative but decided to listen to the expert. I am so glad I did!! They are stunning!! As for the condo, he suggested I don't use a stain. Just refinish & protect. They are beautiful, light & clean looking. Of course, they could have made more money if they had also stained the floors, but suggesting otherwise proves they care about customers more than the almighty dollar. Last but not least, all the workers on both jobs were nice, respectful and cleaned up after the project. The price for both was very fair. I am so glad I used Great floors & listened to Dan.

The company's name should have been our first red flag--"Trend Carpet & Tile" doesn't even mention hardwood floors, which isn't their specialty. My advice: look elsewhere. We worked with Sarah, the daughter of the owner, who lives in our neighborhood. She was not helpful when I first reached out with concerns. She told me their floors had a one-year warranty and there was nothing they could do. I then asked her to involve the flooring product company to inspect the floors, and invited her to come see the issue in person, as she had only seen photos. She never followed through. I suggested that the product they used might be defective, as the problems had worsened over the last year, but no action was taken. To make matters worse, we began noticing issues just 90 days after installation similar to what we see now. The installer, Andrew, dismissed our concerns and claimed it was normal. However, the problems continued to get worse. Sarah from Trend blamed our household for using a Roomba, having pets, and having children, all of which she claimed caused the issues. I told her that whatever products they used weren't durable enough for a typical household if that is what did the damage. She even went as far as blaming our use of Bona Floor Cleaner, which is non-toxic and widely recommended product with no complaints that I could find showing it damaged floors. Trend Carpet & Tile never specified the duration of their warranty or provided guidance on what floor cleaners to use or avoid. I never expected to need a floor refinishing just two years after installation! The photos clearly show that 30-40% of the floors look like now. They have large greyish/white patches where the finish has failed or warn off prematurely. These issues are not caused by a Roomba or cleaning products, but by a faulty product that Trend Carpet & Tile isn't want to stand behind. The VP of the company, Sara, was rude and only friendly when there was a sale to be made or a check to be collected. She seemed more focused on attracting new customers than resolving issues with existing ones. Despite their website "Customer Satisfaction statement" they did nothing to make things right with us. Buyer beware!!

Chris worked with me to get just the right stain color. He knew what I was looking for even if I could not verbalize it very well. They kept having to come back to redo it and only because I kept complaining. . They said it would take 2 days to complete, and on the second day I wasn't thrilled with how the floors looked..The flooring guy did not fill holes and the finish is already starting to peel off. It was also annoying that I kept having to point out spots missed from painting. The company they use for a deep clean came late and barely did anything.There was a lot of creaking beforehand, and after they were done with the job, there was barely any left It turned into a huge fight, and we had to kick them out. We had a move-in date scheduled with our moving company and almost had to cancel it because the apt was not move-in ready Luckily we found a really good cleaning company and they were able to come last minute. 3 stars because they did do some things right, although you really have to be on top of them and check their work.
