The ambience was amazing as well as the beautiful cherry blossom decorations. I was disappointed with the grilled shrimp that I ordered. I ordered shrimp quite a bit, and it was definitely not fresh. It tasted like it had already been cooked and just preheated. The shrimp was not juicy. It was dry. This place was really special. I went with my parents for an early dinner the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The restaurant was lively, and we were seated right away. The inside was beautifully decorated with ornaments, lights, and Christmas trees, which gave it a warm and festive feel. Our server was very attentive even though the restaurant was full. We ordered two mocktails during happy hour: a strawberry mock mule and a blackberry faux jito. The strawberry drink was sweet and bubbly, while the blackberry one was refreshing. The food was just as impressive. We started with the chips and dip, which were delicious. The caramelized onion and sour cream dip paired perfectly with the salty, vinegary homemade chips. The Spanish grilled octopus was smoky, and the shishito peppers were grilled to perfection. For our entrées, we ordered the grilled seabass, which was tender with a crispy outside. Would I come back here hell yeah for the drinks and pork chop maybe a salad they really should keep the $99.00 plus tax every Wednesday so people can have a great anniversary without thinking just my opinion and yeah I know like belly buttons everyone has one out or in and like i said it's my opinion IDGAF if you agree or not this place is still fucking amazing look at the creativity that goes into something like this to change atmospheres for seasons is incredible. We found this place on a list of "10 prettiest restaurants in SoCA". It looked so gorgeous that we decided to drive down to San Diego and see for ourselves. We LOVE this place. The service is stellar, the atmosphere is absolutely stunning, and the food is quite good. We ordered two mocktails (we had our fill last night!) that were refreshingly delicious. The peach, rosemary, mock mule and the strawberry lemonade faux-jito which were both a bit sweet and a bit tart, with light carbonation. Yummy for a Sunday brunch. I ordered the Shashuka, which is something I make at home. I was secretly hoping mine would be better, and although it's a bit different, this sugar was absolutely delicious. It had strips of peppers, onions, and a delicious tomato spicy base, with a really nice chorizo in it as well. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the dish was not too big, it's served with bread for dipping and you do want to dip!! My babe, ordered the Montecristo, which was a giant stack of deliciousness, ham and cheese, powdered sugar on top...served with strawberry jam. Now the menu does say raspberry jam, which we would've preferred, but it's like breakfast dessert and your protein, all in one. We spent half an hour, just taking pictures and then looking at the pictures and then taking more pictures. The place is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance here is for sure super unique and cool! It is literally outside LOL! This place deserves some more love! Everyone working here was so nice and very accommodating! Even though we were seated in a different section, they had no problem moving us to a different section. All the workers and even our server were so friendly that it was just like talking to a friend. This just added to our overall experience ! The scenery was so beautiful. Not only that, the music added to the vibe. It was very 2017, but in a good way. Our group kept breaking out into song. I for sure recommend the chips. It is a vinegar chip with such a good dip. It was super savory and the perfect late night snack. We also split a pizza that was sweet and savory. To be honest, I was so hungry and ready to eat that I don't really remember the exact names, but I can for sure say that it filled the craving. My favorite though was 100% the bolognese pasta. I've been here twice now for 2 different themes, the Alice in Wonderland theme and the "Pink" theme. The Alice in Wonderland theme is much better than the Pink theme, as there are more flowers and different colors. The pink theme is just a lot of fake cherry blossom trees, which is still pretty. I've come for brunch and dinner. The dinner I had the shortrib which I really enjoyed , and brunch i ordered the Loco Moco as you don't see it that often. The Loco Moco wasn't as good as I've had in Hawaii but still pretty good. I did try the strawberry shortcake french toast which was sweet but very yummy. The brunch was a lot more reasonable priced then the dinner. One thing I'll mention is you get better seating if you have a smaller party. The first time there were 3 of us and we were seated in a spot right near the water and all of the decorations. The 2nd visit there were several of us and they sat us way at the top, and the 2 end seats were right next to a metal part of the table that hutted out, and hurt the knees of those sitting there. It was extremely uncomfortable. We asked to move but nothing was available. I definitely think this is a beautiful venue that is great for photo ops and would suggest checking it out. It can get very busy when they have a themed event and reservations can sell out far in advance. I might be tempted to return for a drink and to see the lights at night but overall we thought the food was very average. We dined during the end of brunch so you would think things were winding down but our server seemed to forget about us....another waiter didn't want to assist because we weren't in his station. We are not demanding diners so didn't complain but when you never get water or tea refilled and they charge that 4% service fee you expect at least some level of service. Finally got a reservation for dinner at insideOUT after knowing about it for over a year and waiting for a special occasion to celebrate. To get a dinner reservation, you should time it exactly one month prior to the date you want to go, as they only book one month out and reservations get snatched up quickly. I was mainly looking forward to the beautiful ambiance I've seen in videos and photos, along with the mouthwatering food and drink options. I arrived with my partner and we were seated at a table the very top of the stairs overlooking garden. It was still daylight out and I realized how up close, the decorations reminded us a bit of Vegas, looking grandiose and beautiful in photos, but up close and in the light of day, kind of cheesy. (You can really see the plastic-ness of everything). There were QR code menus on the table which I love the efficiency of, but I felt like for that price point of restaurant, a physical menu would be appropriate. Maybe it was just the design of the card on the table with the code that kind of reminded me of an electronic music festival lineup poster and less like a menu. I ordered the lavender cocktail and my partner had a beer. The cocktail was a bit sweet but I loved the frothy egg white and the presentation. Small selection of menu choices made it easy, we ordered the truffle Brussel sprouts to start, and for entrees, the braised short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes and broccolini, and the mussels and tagliatelle pasta dish. The food came out within minutes it seems which was surprising. The brussel sprouts were crispy and cooked and seasoned perfectly, but lacking in truffle flavor. The braised beef was phenomenal and melt in your mouth, loved the horseradish kick to the mashed potatoes, subtle but impactful in the best way. The mussel dish was just alright- the pasta was cooked perfectly and had the idea bite but was a little bit cold. Some of the mussels didn't taste quite right almost like they were gone bad. The lemon flavor was a bit overpowering and I felt like it didn't really jive with the creamy sauce. The service was professional and prompt, and even saw in the reservation notes that we were celebrating a birthday and brought a slice of chocolate cake with a candle and a beautiful cocoa dusted stencil if the words "happy birthday". Somehow I expected the theme of this restaurant to be romantic, dreamy, larger-than-life, and whimsical, and expected music to match, but they played loud club disco pop music which seemed like it would be more appropriate for daytime brunch vibes. Perhaps I read the theme wrong though. After our meal, we took a walk down the garden walkway for some photos which leads to the lower section of tables in the garden, when we realized is where you would want to be seated! Somehow the decor down there with the haze from the waterfall at the bar seemed so much more immersive. I realized where we were sitting up top was missing most of the charm and appeal of this restaurant. Insideout is one of those absolutely fabulous SD gems that I hope never goes out of business. It's like a Disneyland ride turned into a restaurant, in the most non-obnoxious way. They also have a FANTASTIC happy hour which is rare for SD i've noticed - Drinks actually under $10. We started with happy hour drinks which were all great. As a vegetarian I was a bit disappointed in the offerings as there was not much for me besides a few salads. I went with sides instead - brussel sprouts and potatoes which both arrived cold, however they did have good flavor. I'd likely return again for the scenery and happy hour alone but not the food. Came in during cherry blossom season for a close friend's birthday and the experience did not disappoint! I discovered the restaurant through social media and definitely wanted to dine here when I made a trip to SD. I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and was excited all the way up to the front door. I saw that people were recommending to sit outdoors, so that's what we ended up doing. Upon entering, the decor and overall vibe really stood out. I think they are currently in the "Enchanted" theme, so it gave off a romantic/smokey vibe. We were fortunate enough to grab seats right next to the pond, which made the whole afternoon/early evening feel like dining in an aesthetic garden. The restaurant staged small smoke shows in intervals, which definitely added to the drama and the experience of it all; the spectacle was definitely a nice touch. As for the food (the most important), we had a few dishes: --The Spanish Octopus (appetizer) was fantastic! It was tender, flavorful and a clear highlight. The sauce was so good that we tried to get every bit of it with the octopus (pre-cut into pieces). Highly recommended. --The Penn Cove Mussels & Tagliatelle (pasta entree) lacked a bit of sauce for our preference, but after asking for a bit more sauce, the dish definitely improved. It didn't blow our minds but it wasn't bad either. Definitely ask for a bit more sauce. --The Filet Mignon came with an Australian Hot Stone, which they explained allows us to cook the filet to our liking. So, they cook it rare and bring it out with potatoes and a choice of different butters. It's like any other filet, but cooking it yourself makes it a nice experience. --The Smoky Bosc Pear (dessert) was definitely another highlight. It definitely was a combination of many flavors but it works! We were so glad that we had it recommended to us and we got to try it. Highly recommended. The drink complemented every dish very well and the service was excellent. Our server was amazing and even offered to bring a blanket since it was a bit chilly out. So, dress accordingly, if you're going to stay outside. It wasn't as cold as we though it would have been since it is surrounded by a residence building. The food wasn't anything to be blown away by but the appetizers and dessert are definitely worth. I would definitely want to try other dishes on the menu when I visit again. As for parking, there is construction going on in the neighborhood streets next to the restaurant, so plan on parking further or across the street. I could not be happier making this reservation! The ambiance was so merry! I went before Christmas and had a blast with my sister. The decor was stunning, the light show and the "snowfall" made the experience so much fun! The staff was so friendly I've never felt so welcome. Onto the food now, I had a Caesar salad; it was good, nothing out of the ordinary but delicious. The butternut squash soup was sooo good and creamy, this felt more fitting since the night was cold. I was so pleasantly surprised with such tasty and unique food! I initially thought this place was just good for cocktails since the description is a cocktail lounge but we wanted to give the food a try. I tried to go online and make reservations for 4 on a Saturday night but it said no reservations available. We ended up just walking in around 5:30pm or so and we were immediately seated. It's super loud in there so it was pretty difficult to have conversations in there. The outdoor area/seating was nice but they told use it was fully reserved. For food, we got the following: ARANCINI - Italian risotto ball - really unique and such a good starter for the meal, I'd get it again for the novelty of it. IBERICO PORK SECRETO - Pork with chimichurri sauce on top. It's a really good option for those who want a flavorful piece of pork. All the fixings/sauces and veggies surrounding it tied it all together. FIDEUÀ DE MARISCO - pretty much vermicelli with seafood (shrimp, clam, mussels) and chorizo. Not my favorite because I didn't really like the vermicelli but the prawns were massive and my aunt loves seafood so she enjoyed this dish. ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH & TENDER KALE - OMG. So good and so refreshing and so tasty. This was probably my favorite one out of all the dishes we ordered. BUCATINI $24 - this is hollow pasta that is pretty airy. Not a huge fan but my sister liked it. You can add salmon for an additional $13 or $24 (I really can't remember how much it was additional) or you can also add chicken for an additional cost. The salmon is soo good and worth adding to the dish. I have never tasted salmon so juicy inside and so well made. Everything was so very tasty. This dinner was also for my sister's birthday so to tie it all together, they gave my sister a slice of hazelnut chocolate cake on the house with a really pretty/quality gold candle on top. That was such a cherry on top after the delicious meal. I would definitely come back here again and try the other dishes. The bill came out to be about $250 for four people. read more

02/27/25 - Came here during their happy hour. We made reservations for 5pm. They only had street parking. By the time we got there, parking was already starting to get pretty slim. This restaurant is inside a very bright building that has offices and apartments. Very unassuming from the street but when you come in, you see the middle section of it and it's like you are transported in the middle of a botanical garden. Loved the plants around the place! We were seated right away and I am very sorry but I forgot our servers name. I will look for the receipt and will update this when I find his name. He was very attentive and checked on us often. The drinks came out right away. I had the Freaky Tiki and it was good but on the strong side. I am a light weight so it doesn't take much to get me buzzed. We ordered the following: Fideua de Marisco - Spanish paella style vermicelli with seafood. This dish was very flavorful and the seafood was sweet and fresh. Recently went back for dinner during the Holiday Oasis Experience, and unfortunately this experience back was disappointing and not up to the hype. For evening, i'd recommend IO purely for drinks or appetizers. Food 3/5 - we enjoyed the french bread the most. Items ordered were the arancini, fideua de marisco, braised short rib, truffle brussel sprouts and garlic parm french bread. The sides were good, but the entrees were okay. Portion wise, the fideua came with 3 of each seafood protein (clam, mussel, shrimp) and the meat-starch ratio of the short rib was even. Service 3/5 - It was nice to provide umbrellas for the outdoor tables, and service was friendly but the wait time took a long time, to where I was actively looking for them. It was 10pm on a Friday night so it is understandable if busy. Prior to arriving, there was timely texts about our reservation (reminders, confirmation, notice when our table was ready, etc). Dining experience 2/5- i booked an evening reservation a few weeks ahead (only 9:15pm available) and last call for food was about 10 minutes after we got a drink order in. Unfortunately when our food arrived is when they did the snowfall experience, and despite covering what we could, the umbrellas did not cover both ourselves and the food/drinks. The fake snowfall blew in through the negative space between the umbrella and our bodies, and got into our cocktails and items, and our food was cooked but cold by the time the song was over. The table seating had a gorgeous view of the holiday decorations, but unlike the middle outdoor seating, our table did not have any heaters. We went here for dinner with friends during their Sweetheart Experience. Reservations had to be made a month in advance but so glad we were able to get a big table for 8. The place is loud and fun. There were huge mylar red heart balloons floating around and Instagram worthy backdrops for those photo ops. We were seated and ordered our drinks before being encouraged to walk around to enjoy the decor. We opted for the $85 Beef Wellington and snow crab dinner. It was large enough and perfect for 2! This time, the restaurant has been transported to Mediterranean, with gorgeous Turkish rugs and carpets throughout, accent matching throw pillows and lanterns decor everywhere. Those giant lanterns are so beautiful. Definitely made a bold, impact statement! And Chef Duran continues to WOW us! We had the Mezcal Baja Prawns (the corn and pineapple salsa was so yummy!), Chilean Sea Bass (so tender!) and Oven Roasted Chicken (perfectly moist and flavorful), followed by Verano Tres Leches Persian Love Cake and a surprise moist slice of Chocolate Cake for my Birthday! Great vibes strong and tasty cocktails! You know I'll be there. But Holy s***GUYS! I wish I could talk more about the food which was great and juicy and tender though the bread of the charcuterie was stale (probs just left out a bit after toasted). THE MAIN STAR OF THE SHOW WAS THIS TIKI COCKTAIL FROM HAPPY HOUR. (Side note** I didn't see any food options on HH) Delicious and DEADLY. I had 2 and a celebratory shot from the restaurant. Great food, trendy atmosphere, amazing service Visited insideOUT in San Diego and had a really good experience overall. The atmosphere is super trendy and fun, but just a heads up -- it can get packed really quickly. We ordered a variety of dishes including the Loco Moco, Shakshuka, sweet potatoes, Italian breakfast, Love Island drink, and the French toast. Everything was flavorful and well portioned. The Loco Moco had great taste and was very satisfying, and the French toast was a really good size and perfect for brunch. Service was also excellent. Initially it took a bit longer than expected to get servers, but our server Katti was incredibly kind and made up for it by treating us to complimentary items and even a vodka peach shot on the house. That gesture really showed great customer service and made the experience even better. Overall, great spot for brunch with good vibes, delicious food, and friendly staff.
