This location is at the heart of downtown Hillsboro and the vibe inside was cozy and has a vintage parlor feel with velvet upholstery and mismatched lovely dark wooden furniture. Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the smiling staff and there were already quite a few people working on their laptops in various corners of the coffee shop. Looks like a great place to work or study. I got the Black Forest Mocha and a cinnamon roll to share. My drink was not too sweet which I appreciated but it did feel less full than expected. They did warm up the cinnamon roll which was soft and delicious and I love that they source their pastries from surrounding small businesses like the gluten free Blue Moon Bakery! Smart partnership! My friend got her toddler daughter an Italian Soda and they gave her a kids whipped cream cup with confetti sprinkles which was super cute. She also found the hidden bear and got a sticker as well. I love when businesses make it fun for the kids. Bonus they had a local artist spotlight showcase which was so neat! I'll have to come back to try more drinks and food but could definitely see this shop as a great hangout spot to catch up with friends or get some work/study done. First visit here while wandering neighboring stores. Cute shop with indoor/outdoor seating. On this Friday mid-morning there were a lot of patrons hanging out, although no line. My wait felt long, drinks coming out consistently but slowly. As for my latte, it was fabulous...hot and tasty. The only negative was the messiness of the floors in the dining area, lots of crumbs lying about. But, a nice, warm atmosphere inside overall though. read more

Great coffee shop - shout-out to Bryce for hooking us up! The signature cinnamon mocha is decadent and on the sweeter side, a fun dessert with a caffeine kick! The hearty egg biscuit sandwich oozing with Tillamook cheddar cheese is very filling! The ginormous biscuit is quite dense and coupled with the thick egg paddy makes it a challenge to conquer! I ate 1/2 for breakfast and so glad I saved the rest for lunch, the biscuit sandwich was perfect for brunch! All the pastries and baked goods are made fresh in-house daily. The peach strawberry pop tart was fun to try and tickled my tastebuds. It had a thin flaky crust with a sweet blood orange glaze. Bryce was super friendly, attentive, and prompt. Customer service is rude not appreciated especially in the morning with a bad attitude!

This review is purely for the espresso brewed here, not the food, beans, etc. Wow, this place has really deteriorated. When I moved here in 2019, it was my go-to for quality espresso. The shots were sweet and strong, consistent with the best coffee I've had. I am an Americano, and straight espresso drinker, which makes it very obvious when a barista doesn't know what they are doing. But for the past year +, I have consistently received bitter, burned shots from this place. To the point that even my wife's latte's are just awful... Like, drive up espresso run by a blind, rabid, racist oligarch. How can I compare this place to a racist oligarch? Because I feel oppressed and offended by this coffee. Like, start a revolution and overthrow the evil regime offended and oppressed. They have to be stopped. This reign of terror must end. Of course, what I mean is that I have given up on this place. I am done hoping they will get better. I am done thinking of a brighter day. There is no light at the end of this tunnel. Just a terrible, sad, bitter, over extracted mess that even the most forgiving among us would struggle to call espresso. That is all. read more

The food looked good but didn't try anything. Small assortment of croissants, cinnamon rolls and such. They sell single serve cups of Bob's Red Mill oatmeal. Small intimate seating area to the left with comfortable seating for lonely people or threesomes. Couple seats at a bar to peer outside. Then an area with tables for the more important discussions. Had an Americano. Not that good at all. Wasn't that good tasting. Tasted just like restaurant coffee. If it didn't have the crema on top, I'd have thought it was just Boyd's drip coffee. I don't give out a lot of five-star reviews, but the warm staff and the offering of two Ethiopian coffees put my experience over the top. In the neighborhood for the recurring Saturday Hillsboro Farmer's Market, I found myself facing a large selection of brewed coffee choices, two of them unfamiliar Ethiopian varietals. Crazy excited, as Yirgacheffe and Harrar are two of my favorites, I peppered the staff with questions and taste-tested them both. The staff weren't as clued-in about the provenance of the coffees as I would have liked, but with good cheer they mightily investigated. The beans are a bit more expensive than I would have liked, enough to make shopping here a special event rather than a regular pattern, but it's such a good feeling to know the good stuff is out there. The café is a welcoming, comfortable place to sit and socialize or to bring a laptop to work, and that's another nice thing. Lastly, it's near to the Hatfield Government Center MAX Station, so it's all a big, tasty win. read more

This is definitely my favorite Insomnia location. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming, drinks are great, and the vibe is just so damn cozy. The stool seats by the windows are perfect for sunny days when sunlight filters in, and the long tables are great for study groups and coffee with friends. This location is super cozy on both sunny and rainy days, and it's great for reading a book, catching up with a friend, or getting some work done. Do note that the place is pretty popular for families, friends, and study groups to get together, so the volume can get pretty high, but that's usual for a coffee shop. I tend to get more work done if a coffee shop is full of people chattering away, but I know that's not for everyone. In terms of drinks and food: I love their seasonal pumpkin spice latte with oat milk, and my usual is a chai latte with oat milk. They usually don't have any vegan pastries (from my experience), but I've tried their regular chocolate chip cookie and it makes me reconsider my dietary choices. It's that good. read more
