Thick mugs kept our drinks hot for a long time.

What a gym of a coffee shop. Cozy and friendly. Strong, rich, coffee and espresso drinks. And what seems to be an impromptu serenade. What Mark did you ask for? oh, and they have breakfast sandwiches and pastries, too!

The cutest little local coffee shop. Eclectic furniture and decorations, plenty of seating with outlets, and super friendly staff. Yummy looking baked goods and little artsy gift shop items by local artists. My husband adored this coffee shop and we loved trying the coffee and getting some work done while we were in the area.

Hands down the best local coffee option in Hillsboro. Great for studying, catching up with a friend or stopping in to have a cozy moment on a busy work day. Staff always seem happy and polite. They seem to enjoy where they work! The menu is versatile and provides enough variety. There are always multiple drip options available at the main counter. Pastries are outstanding and very well portioned. Definitely enough to split with a friend! Overall, the ambiance resembles a blend of feeling like you're in your great aunts kitchen with a twist of vintage flair. Its uniqueness manages to instill an appealing and comforting atmosphere that keeps me coming back a lot. Make sure you check it out soon!

Insomnia is an absolute Hillsboro staple, it has the perfect cozy coffee shop vibes and encourages interaction with the community through their posting boards and artist/maker markets that happen during the holidays. This is a great place to stop in for a fresh pastry and a warm soothing drink during these colder Oregon months. During some holidays they even offer take and bake pastries to impress all your family members! Baristas are friendly and helpful when deciding on what to get from all their amazing specials.

I've been a loyal Insomnia customer since moving to Hillsboro almost 7 years ago. It's got easy breezy neighborhood coffee shop vibes with good quality coffee and delicious muffins. Service is consistent and vibes are good, for quick cups of coffee, for meeting friends, for doing work or for studying. No complaints. :)

I love the coffee that Insomnia serves. I purchased coffee and a blackberry scone this morning. The scone is "stale" . It tastes more than a couple days old. Lesson learned. I'll be back for coffee though.

The tea service is beautifully presented, with lovely tiered trays of savory bites, sweets, and pastries that make the whole afternoon feel like a real occasion. What stood out most was how relaxing and elegant the experience felt without ever seeming stiff or overly formal. The teas were excellent, and the whole service invited you to slow down and enjoy yourself. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, talk a little longer, and order one more pot of tea. There's a charm to Skywater that is hard to fake. It feels welcoming, peaceful, and carefully done in all the right ways. For a special outing, a celebration, or just a beautiful afternoon treat, their high tea is a delight. Five stars.

While running errands on the morning of the Fourth of July, my cousin, my niece, and I popped in for a much needed caffeine boost. The atmosphere was calm, cozy, and inviting. The service was OK, but they asked for a tip before providing any. That's always off putting. Especially when I had to change out the coffee carafe to get my own cup of coffee. That said, the coffee was nothing special. It was cool to see the roasting facility through the glass in the dining area. Now let's talk about the breakfast. My husband had the eggs Benedict and it was OK. I ordered the West Coast Hash and eggs and it wasn't OK. My over medium eggs were microwave rubber. Moved like silly putty. The hash was 99% potatoes and microscopic squares of ham and chopped dried bacon. The meal was very unpleasant. The best part of the hash were the diced jalapeños. This place is a one and done for me.

I have been looking for a decent breakfast/brunch place close by but so far no luck there. I am still recovering from renal failure so my mobility is severely limited. I travel mostly at the pleasure of the Veterans Transportation Service or Trimet Lyft. Today's Dr appointment finished up sooner than expected so I had some time to kill before the van returned to take me home. So I fired up my tablet and took a look on Yelp to see if there was anything of interest close by. Enter Insomnia Coffee. Lots of positive reviews. Right around the corner. So... off I go. I an a US Navy brownwater sailor. We drink coffee that tastes like coffee. No additives. None. Not even cream or (gasp) sugar. So when I told the barista [HA! The person who pours coffee into a cup] that i wanted a cup of coffee black I got this sort of deer in the headlights look. What? ...I'm sure she was thinking... no Madagascar cinnamon? no foaming goop? no stale crouton crumbs? no pumpkin pie spice? Ummmm seriously? People want their coffee to taste like pumpkin? Yikes. No Miss... just a cuppa Joe. Just like my first heart throb, Anna Mae Bullock....strong and black. And I have to say, insomnia delivered. Not a bad cup of coffee at all. Although I didn't really want to hang out there since it appeared that I had zero in common with anyone I saw there... hogging the comfortable looking chairs. So I had it in a paper cup, to go. Now I have a "thing" about drinking coffee from a large, ceramic mug.... I loathe tasting paper in my coffee and yes I can tell it's in a paper cup even blindfolded. but I digress. They did have a whole display area of decadent looking pastries and not the tiny, overpriced, bogus looking stuff you see at Starbucks. Not that i would ever go into a Starbucks even to use the rest room. They had several pies that made my mouth water and some gooey breakfast glazed things that would have seriously spiked my glucose. so I reluctantly passed. Perhaps next time :)
