I really hate leaving bad reviews, but I have to be honest about my Mother's Day experience here. I came in to surprise my mom with one small iced drink which I thought was simple enough. Yes, there was a line, and I was totally fine with that. What I wasn't fine with was waiting over 30 minutes for a single drink. There were 5 or 6 people behind the bar, so I expected reasonably paced service. Instead, the whole place seemed to be running in slow motion. Maybe they were still recovering from an early rush ( I was there around 10am), but it showed. Our order got messed up, we had to remind the baristas what we'd ordered, and the energy from the staff was pretty cold throughout. The final straw: our drink was presumably forgotten. Multiple people who ordered after us got their drinks first. I eventually had to walk up to the bar, point behind the counter, and explain that we'd been waiting and my mom was sitting in the car. For a lot of people, going out for coffee is a treat; It certainly is for me as a student. When you're spending that money, you'd hope for at least decent service. Unfortunately, this visit was the opposite of that expectation. read more

After a long flight, we stopped by Insomnia Coffee in desperate need of caffeine and left very happy. We picked up a range of snacks and drinks. My flat white with almond milk was excellent, and my son's hot chocolate even came topped with what looked like chocolate-flavoured whipped cream, which he loved. He also had an egg and cheese bagel and a chocolate espresso cookie, while I was especially impressed by the gluten free breakfast cookie. The baristas were friendly and effortlessly cool, and the whole place has a great vibe. It is a little on the pricey side, but I would happily visit again. Thank you! read more

First time here and I don't know why I hadn't come by before. Great first impression. Loved the ambiance, cozy seating, lighting...general look and feel. Was greeted by friendly staff who helped me through their special offers They also have a load of options. I ended up with their March Special - $5.75 12 oz Irish cream latte. It was delicious. I added a toasted croissant- amazing. Sat by the window on a cozy leather sofa sipping on the latte and savoring the warm croissant. I didn't want to leave. I'll definitely be back. read more

Probably one of the best local coffee spots in the west suburbs. They have several locations and most are in Hillsboro. They roast their own coffee under the Dapper and Wise brand. It's generally above average and they offer multiple options from different regions. In a sea of amazing options in the Pacific NW, it is firmly above average. The menu is fairly extensive although I wish they had a pour over coffee option. Their cold brew is solid! The pastry and food options are high quality, but many of the pastries are far too oversized. I would only get one if I was planning to split one with a friend. Parking is easy in the lot out front. Bathrooms are clean and don't require a code. And I really love the upstairs space at this location for a nice place to send a few emails and sit on a perch of productivity. Check it out! read more

I've only been to the Hillsboro location and appreciate the spaciousness of this cafe. The oat milk latte was solid. You can ask for an in-person cup too. It was quite crowded, but I found seats. There are also seats available outside. read more

Coffee is good, as in all Insomnia locations. They offer different roasting grades, and their darkest roast is a very solid option. The place is busy throughout the day, so you're almost guaranteed a freshly brewed batch at any time. The space itself is fantastic. Tons of natural light and two floors with plenty of seating. The staff is okay. They do their best, but it's clear that for most of them this isn't a long-term job. I'll probably never get used to this - coming from Italy, where being a barista is a lifelong profession, the difference is noticeable! What I really mind about Insomnia is the quality of their pastries and food. They feel very cheap and almost tasteless. It's quite unappealing to go there for a croissant or a scone. I actually threw away a supposedly "freshly made" scone straight into the bin. All said it's still a good option overall, especially because of the large amount of space available. read more

Insomnia is a good spot to pick up coffee and baked goods. If you like to study or work in a coffee shop, there's also a second level. It sometimes gets busy, but the line seems to stay moving. I alternate between the Iced Real Caramel Latte (4 stars) and the Iced White Chocolate Mocha (4 stars). I liked the flavors, and they had just right amount of sweetness. I skip the whipped cream. I liked the Honey Biscuit (4 stars), and I get disappointed when it's sold out. I prefer the Chocolate Croissant (4 stars) more than the plain Croissant (3.5 stars). I always place my order online and set it to be done by the time I arrive from wherever I am coming from. I get their Aztec Mocha extra sweet and it is always a treat. The in house made chocolate whip cream is absolutely fantastic. There is lots o parking spaces out front but they stay pretty filled up. However, if you are willing to walk a bit more, you'll be sure to find something. There is also lots of seating inside if you are so inclined to dine in. read more

I like the space and the coffee but I tend to avoid this insomnia because the service is so poor. All of the interactions I've had there have been soooo awkward because no one smiles at you or even makes eye contact with you while taking your order it's as if they are trained to think of you as an annoyance like whatttt . Coffee sometimes takes a while to come out too when moderately busy. Again love the atmosphere and coffee but not the service. read more

Great coffee, quick service, and delicious pastries. There is plenty of indoor seating with both a downstairs & upstairs seating area. Mornings and weekends can get pretty busy so be ready to wait in line, but it moves relatively quick! The cookies are HUGE and great to share. We got the chocolate chip cookie warmed up which was perfectly rich and gooey. We also ordered the honey biscuit (buttery and delicious) and the cheddar everything bagel with cream cheese. To drink, we got americanos which paired perfectly with our carb-loaded breakfast. Overall if you're looking to indulge in some yummy pasties and good coffee, insomnia has everything you could want. This was my first time to this particular location. After previewing a couple homes I was in need of some caffeine. I love the blended Aztec Mocha with chocolate whipped cream. It's my go to summer beverage. It's a rather large location compared to the other locations I've visited. This place had a few booth seats and an additional seating area upstairs in this two story cafe'. If I'm working in the area I'll definitely stop back in. read more

I'd give it a 3.5. Arrived at around 10:30am. Environment: Very nice and fancy! Love the high-ceiling, 2 story building, great lighting, and looked very clean and organized. Staff: very friendly, helpful, and positive! Food: 1. I got their 12oz iced latte with fat free milk (~$4.75). I was a bit scared because some coffee places would make the coffee very bland when they use fat free milk/ low fat milk but the coffee flavor was still very strong and fragrant. Even when the ice melted, it was still good! 2. The reason why I gave it fewer stars is because of the croissant (~ $4.25). When I saw the stack of croissants I thought of my mom and got her one as it looked nicely made! I didn't look inside the bag until I got home (I guess my bad on that part) and when I took it out of the bag, I realized the top part was dark- I would say burnt. It was flakey and buttery but something that burnt shouldn't be sold. The top part did have that bitter flavor and was disappointed about that. Love this place, and its ambiance. It's also awesome that they always host local artists on their walls. The coffee is good, the pastries are good, and the seating is ample and welcoming. On a recent visit, however, I did notice that the floor and a lot of the seating area was pretty dirty and looked like it hadn't been swept or dusted in quite some time. It was a bit off-putting for a place that serves food and beverages. I hope that won't be the case next time I come in. Otherwise, it's a wonderful spot! read more

Gone to this insomnia a few times and their food variety was always great. Went in today for some coffee and food but there was a lack of everything. Very little options for sandwiches, burritos, and little to no pastries. Service and coffee were good but disappointed in the food. This Insomnia outpost opened in Cedar Mill about ten minutes from my house. It is a nice space, parking isn't terrible, and the overall atmosphere is really not like suburban Bethany or hipster Portland. It feels like a west side slightly upscale family vibe. There were plenty of kids, older adults, a couple of leashed dogs. There is some outside seating with provided doggie water bowls. It was nice out today, the mood was upbeat. Oregonians like summer sunshine and caffeine. Minion and I arrived about 10am on a Sunday and there were 3 people ahead of us in line, a smattering of full tables and empty tables, and it was moderately buzzy behind the counter. By 11 it was hopping. It was fairly noisy inside, they could use some dampening things on their industrial ceiling. We got beverages, hot food, and an espresso chocolate cookie to share. It is a little expensive but the coffee is good and the baked goods are tasty. Today there was a large assortment of coffee cakes, scones, muffins, and cinnamon rolls available, vegan and not vegan. The pepperjack bagels for our breakfast sandwiches were on the slightly burned side but edible. Insomnia doesn't have soy milk and that's my chosen coffee related milk so it is only a sometimes place on my rotation. They also always have an odd assortment of rickety chairs -tho' these were better today- and my minion says they try too hard to be cool. All that said we like them and will come back soon. read more

Modern, spacious, two story beautiful location of this coffee chain. It's been a nice place to do some work. As much as I've loved the other locations it's been a scramble for tables- haven't run into this problem here so far. Their loft upstairs is pretty cute but all of it is aesthetically pleasing. I've been trying out new drinks here and they have all been amazing and making me regretful that I've spent so many dollars at the Starbucks drive thru lately out of convenience. I tried a caramel latte with vanilla in it today and it was *chefs kiss*. I also appreciate that they have food options and pastries available as well- nice for marathon work sessions to have options available in house. read more

Their biscuit breakfast sandwiches are my favorite, but they were out of biscuits. I'm glad I gave the croissant sandwich a try, because it was really good! Super flaky and pretty messy, but still delish. I enjoy the aztec mocha more as an iced drink instead of a hot drink, but that's just my personal preference. read more

Nice alternative to the other chain coffee shops, Insomnia makes some darn good coffee! When I'm in Cannon Beach and crave a coffee beverage, I always stop in so I am familiar with their coffee and offerings. I was delighted to see they opened a location on Murrayhill across from my doctor's office. They do all the coffee drinks, hot or cold, and hot chocolate and teas. My fave is the Aztec Mocha which I order fat free. Nice blend of cinnamon and chocolate! Lots of delicious, tempting pastries, cookies, scones, honey biscuits, and breakfast sandwiches. Can't go wrong with the sausage, egg & cheese on a bagel. I save half for the next day. Cozy interior with lots of varied seating areas. A mix of people working, families, singles. It's a nice neighborhood vibe. Parking at this location isn't extensive, but it's not a problem. read more

Got the iced Black Forest mocha and a chocolate croissant. I'd give the croissant like a 3/5 Pretty decent croissant. Flakey and layered but a little dry. I'm also not a huge fan of straight chocolate as a filling although I know it's pretty standard. The mocha was really delicious. Tasted like a cherry mocha. Could do with less chocolate. Not sure if it was an off day but I waited over 10 minutes for an Americano whilst others drinks that were much more intensive and placed after mine got called before. One person doing the steamed milk and calling orders saw me waiting and asked what I ordered, upon my response the girl next to her immediately reached to their bar below the machines and placed my completed drink on the table and said not a word. The girl who had asked said "yeah I thought since you'd been waiting for a bit..." and trailed off seemingly nervous. I felt a bit uncomfortable and unwelcomed since I had watched ice being grabbed for my drink (the only iced one that went out) ~3 minutes prior to being asked about my drink so it appeared to have been done for a bit but the person never said she had it ready nor even acknowledged me after placing my drink on the counter. The coffee here is just splendid! Their signature drink the Aztec mocha is honestly the best coffee beverage I have ever had in my life. I also really like their Black Forest mocha and Chai tea latte. The only fancy coffee drink that disappoints is the matcha latte since it tastes too much like grass... The pastries are good (I especially like the rose croissant) and the ambience is quite pleasant with an airy, well-lit interior. Suuuuuuuper busy here. It's a really nice location because there is so much open space. Loads of tables and seating. They even have an upstairs area that I have yet to check out. I arrived at 10:35 am, drove pretty far because I wanted to check out the vibe here and see if it's a good place for working. I've been to many Insomnia coffee locations and this is the biggest one so far. Pretty noisy when busy but I'm hoping it'll die down later in the day. This review was written during the middle of the week (Tuesday) but yeah, still very busy...Most of the people here are older or middle aged people grabbing a coffee and chatting with friends. Some are remote workers and they are pretty quiet. I'm always trying to scout new places to work in because I hate working from home lol. If you're looking for a remote job, please don't because working at home sucks and I always want to work somewhere outside but it's always so busy everywhere I go. Anyway, let's get down to the review. The coffee is pretty decent here. They have a large selection of pastries and cookies and they are good but I really wish they stopped using an egg wash on the pastries because it leaves such a horrible taste in your mouth. Almost metallic, sulfuric taste. Pleaseeeeeee STOP using egg washes. There's no need. You can brush some milk on the pastries or just use flour mixed with water and you can still get that golden glaze. NO EGGS PLEASE. Really ruins the pastries. Every time I go to a cafe, I am reluctant on trying their pastries because I don't want gross, eggy pastries. read more

Visiting Beaverton and stopped by today expecting this place to be closed because the weather was so awful (dangerous ice made it so hard to drive). I didn't even want to be out, but ended up in here. Asked the employee working if they were closing early and apparently they just stay open in weather like this...they're open tomorrow too. Giving this place one star because I think it sucks to put your employees in danger by forcing them to come to work in conditions like this- and the roads were seriously dangerous. The bus wasn't even running. Hopefully management reads these and does better in the future. Coffee was good though. read more
