The flow of this place really almost deserves just three stars. They should have an in and an out door for how busy this place gets. That aside, this place serves warm cookies and milk (amongst other things like cookie and ice cream sandwiches, brownies, etc.) that really hit the spot when you are wanting just that with no frills. Two friends and I had some time to kill before an author event so walked close to a mile from the Avid bookshop location here and then close to a mile to our event at the Seney-Stovall Chapel. This is my second time here and I believe the first time I went with the Double Chocolate Chunk and I'm glad I split it with someone else because it was really rich. Disclaimer: review from a non-undergrad's (but UGA alum's) POV, so if you're visiting Athens - here you go. A fellow UGA alum and friend of mine had a hankering for Insomnia cookies two nights in a row during a weekend visit to the Classic City. They have an awesome business model - sell warm cookies by the single, dozen, etc., for cheap, at all hours of the day. Deliver to on-campus and near-campus location. Offer some ice cream and milk to upsell and sweeten the deal. Easy and simple, right? Seriously! If you're a big-time cookie (or ice cream snob), you probably won't walk away impressed or flabbergasted by Insomnia, but I guarantee your late-night and/or alcohol- or stress-fueled cookie craving will be met, and at a very fair price per cookie, in my humble opinion. Choose from approximately 6 "regular" cookies choices, such as the classics of Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, or Snickerdoodle. For a slight upcharge, there are some "special" options such as S'Mores, Rocky Road, and the like. Cookies are pulled from a warmer and placed in a bag, so warmth and freshness are pretty much locked-in at the "just from the oven put cooled enough to eat without melted chocolate burning your tongue" temperature. I can't vouch for the ice cream, but it looks pretty run-of-the-mill and is probably best left alone or sandwiched between two strong cookie flavors. Man - seriously - DELIVERY of WARM COOKIES until 3 AM?! Where was this concept when I was at UGA? Oh well...good to know they'll deliver to me when I'm partying downtown with my alum friends! :) Parking is obviously a pain, but let's be honest, if you're needing cookies and it's late at night, you shouldn't be driving...or if you're coming from campus and need a break, you're probably walking. Great Cookies, Poor Hospitality I love the cookies they serve (my favorite is the Double Chocolate Mint), and I love the option to mix it with ice cream. But the past (and only) 2 times I have gone, the people there haven't been exactly welcoming. Today's trip involved the two workers, great, but they also had a friend there that they were just hanging out with, gossiping with, and goofing off with the whole time they were helping us. On top of that, I have two very young and impressionable kids, and they were with me, whilst the workers and their friend were yelling and using obscene words the whole time we were there. However, went in tonight and a very rude clerk immediately, and with a condescending tone thought that my friend was only using the bathroom (not a game day) and decided to address me (waiting at the table) with a negative and very rude tone. I deeply love everything about Insomnia, many a time I have ordered for delivery and had it come faster than I expected, one time I got an extra cookie, and THE BEST THING is if you get the Insomnia app sometimes they have awesome little deals like 3 for $3 for 2 free chocolate chip cookies and it's so great and I've NEVER had a less than 10/10 cookie. I can not even give this place one star! I went there today for the very first time. The cashier was extremely nasty in appearance and ATTITUDE!!! I work in public safety In Athens and we have received these cookies at the police department. I decided to get some for my family this afternoon and was met with a cashier who appeared to be inconvenienced! I was the only customer in the store and asked about a selection that was out of stock at the time. I asked what was close to the flavor and was met with the most vile and disrespectful response. My boyfriend and I were refused service because we didn't have a mask to wear. We happened to not have any with us at the moment. Whenever we asked if they had one we could use they told us no. If you require masks you should have them to hand out at all times! We then asked if we could just go ahead and order and wait outside and they said no. Gotta love a warm, soft and chewy cookie. I stopped by here while visiting with some friends at UGA. I tried their white chocolate macadamia and snickerdoodle cookie. My pet peave is when I order something with nuts but it ends up tasting stale. So I was relieved when this wasn't the case here. My friend ordered their brownie a la mode. Their brownie is on the earthy side if that makes sense. I wasn't a fan of their vanilla ice cream though as flavors didn't balance well with the brownie. I have been to several other Insomnia Cookies in New York and they were always absolutely fantastic. We drove 30 minutes out of the way to go to the one in Athens, GA. I am a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup fan. When we got there, the clerk (who was not very friendly) said they did not have any. He said "we only have what's in the display box". Very disappointing. I got a double chocolate chunk cookie and it was hard and tasted a little burned. My family got different cookies. My wife's was pretty good but nowhere near as good as other times I have visited. Heard about this place and decided to stop by after dinner to satisfy my sweet tooth since I heard they close at 3am. We arrived there close to 10pm and they had quite a few customers in there. The person that was working behind the counter was friendly as we ordered even tho they where low on cookies and told us a fresh batch was coming out the oven. 5mins later or so we got our cookies. I have to say it was worth the wait, the cookies where soft but not to chewy, it had a nice crunch crisp too it that wasn't over the top.
