The employees are always helpful and I never feel rushed when asking for a few samples. Their ice cream uses top quality ingredients and they have a specialized churning process to make it very creamy. The best part are the 'out of the box' ingredients you won't find in other ice cream parlors. These ingredients can augment the base flavor, add a tasty wrinkle or help neutralize a typically dominant flavor. On this trip, I got a scoop of Huckleberry Oat Crisp with Foraged Porcini. It's on their Monthly Menu Series and limited time, along with 4 other unique flavors. It was amazing and worth sampling at a minimum. They also have traditional flavors but with their special take on it...like the Double Fold Vanilla uses a lot more vanilla beans to really exacerbate the flavor. The biggest disappointment here was the customer service. My friend ordered a milkshake for her two toddlers to share and politely asked if the extra half could be poured into a second cup. The employee had to ask the manager, who immediately said no. My friend explained that other Handel's locations have happily done this before, and even offered to pay for the extra cup. The manager still refused and told her she'd have to purchase two separate milkshakes instead. The request wasn't for extra product--just a second cup for two small children to share. What made the experience worse was the manager's attitude. She came across as rude and dismissive rather than trying to help find a reasonable solution. We understand that every location has its own policies, but customer service goes a long way. Unfortunately, between the cramped space and the poor experience with the manager, we won't be returning to this location.
