We are always on the hunt for the next great dessert spot, and I think we found it. Milk & Cookies in downtown Gilbert is definitely worth a visit. The ice cream is made in small batches and you can really taste the difference. I opted for the coffee with Oreos and it was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. My daughter chose the dairy-free chocolate oatmeal and absolutely loved it. The cookies were terrific too. We tried the chocolate chip, M&M, and s'mores cookies, and all of them were chewy, flavorful, and tasted fresh from the oven. This is the kind of dessert spot you leave already planning your next visit.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. I didn't think much of the place when we were going there, but the cookies were pretty great! The ice cream was very good as well, it was a perfect combination.

Today was Milk & Cookies grand opening and they were popping. They were giving out 1 free cookie with a scoop of ice cream for every customer. The line was long that it wrapped around the building. Luckily, there were some air misting fans outside to help cool down from the heat. We waited about an hour, but it flew by quickly because we were chatting with others in line. You could smell the cookies at the door. The workers were all super sweet even with the chaos. We ordered the sea salted caramel with black cherry oat cream (vegan) and the cookies & cream with lavender peach!! The cookies were warm, huge, and came out fresh. The ice creams were so buttery and delicious. I liked how there were real chunks of black cherry. My sweet tooth craving was satisfied and I will definitely be coming back. There are some benches to sit and eat at. There is a free parking structure and lot nearby. What a great addition to Gilbert.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by Hope. She was very friendly and explained the store concept and products to us. There was a fridge with cold milk and drinks to choose from to accompany your cookies. This is a great place for a quick sweet treat, and the Toffee cookie was our favorite.

Highly recommend. A fantastic, relaxing way to finish off an afternoon or evening with friends and family. Friendly, helpful and patient customer service as first-time visitors tried to decide on the perfect cookie/ice cream combinations. Not only will we be back but I think a few on-line "cookie carry outs" are in the future.

Holy Yumminess! My experience was exceptional. Courtney was very helpful and courteous as this was my first time ordering. Loved the packaging also. Can't wait to dive in and share it with my family and friends. Thanks Milk & Cookies!

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream - S'mores scoop in a waffle bowl

Scoop, scoop, hooray! I'm the 400th review for this business on Yelp…read more Since trying Handel's at previous Yelp events, I've had on my radar to try at one of their locations. Especially since my boyfriend loves ice cream. Today we made a lunch date when he was visiting town, complete with ice cream to cool us down on this warm July day in Arizona. We opted to eat in my car with air conditioning, though they have bench seating outside. In cooler months, I'm sure that seating is nice to sit at to enjoy your treat. What We Ordered: - Monkey Business scoop in a dipped waffle bowl: My boyfriend throughly enjoyed and said it was very banana forward; which is a plus for him. I personally hate banana, so he had something for once that I didn't take a girlfriend bite out of. - S'mores scoop in a dipped waffle bowl: Very interesting to have the base be graham cracker, but I really enjoyed. Love the little chocolate bits to add a crunch as you eat, though the mini marshmallows have a weird texture to me. Still a solid scoop, and I'll try other flavors when we return. Definitely looking forward to the location opening on Signal Butte, but glad we didn't wait until that opened to try. Delicious and I'm sure I'll visit the new location opening by my house.

First, the location itself is very small and cramped inside, and there isn't any outdoor seating, which made it difficult to enjoy our ice cream. The biggest disappointment here was the customer service. My friend ordered a milkshake for her two toddlers to share and politely asked if the extra half could be poured into a second cup. The employee had to ask the manager, who immediately said no. My friend explained that other Handel's locations have happily done this before, and even offered to pay for the extra cup. The manager still refused and told her she'd have to purchase two separate milkshakes instead. The request wasn't for extra product--just a second cup for two small children to share. What made the experience worse was the manager's attitude. She came across as rude and dismissive rather than trying to help find a reasonable solution. We understand that every location has its own policies, but customer service goes a long way. Unfortunately, between the cramped space and the poor experience with the manager, we won't be returning to this location.

A Nostalgic, Must-Visit Dessert Destination in Old Town Scottsdale…read more Our party of six visited the Sugar Bowl for dessert following a friend's birthday dinner. Upon our arrival, we were accommodated immediately and seated without any delay. The parlor features a wonderful, nostalgic aesthetic reminiscent of the late 1900s. Its menu is remarkably expansive, offering an impressive variety of options that goes well beyond what one might typically expect from a traditional dessert establishment. The service we received was patient and polite. While one of our table's orders was initially overlooked, the staff corrected the mistake instantly as soon as we brought it to our server's attention. As the name implies, the menu leans heavily into decadent, sweet treats; those looking for lighter or tart options like yogurt variations will find limited choices, but the indulgent selections are perfect for traditional dessert lovers. The surrounding neighborhood adds significantly to the appeal, offering an excellent Old Town atmosphere filled with art galleries, historic shops, and artifacts. If you are visiting the nearby Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA), enjoying dinner in the area, or simply taking an evening walk, I highly recommend stopping by the Sugar Bowl for its unique historical charm and experience.

I considered several options in Phoenix area to review, but I decided to go with the iconic Sugar Bowl in Old Town Scottsdale. It's been in business since the 1950's and has been a staple for 7 decades in Old Town. The inside is 1890's decor of pink & white wallpaper/decor like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. They have a bar area and standard seating. I remember I first went here when I was in high school in late 90's/early 2000's. Ice cream was always top notch. I used to get the Buster Brownie, which was this big brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream, goeey marshmallow topping, whipped cream, & cherry on top. It was awesome! I loved that way back then. I got lunch there once or twice; pretty good sandwiches, but the real highlight is the ice cream. My most recent visit was in Jan. 2022 with my dad. We decided to pop in for ice cream. It was as delicious as I remembered.
