Been going to Cafe 86 since living in SoCal by their Artesia location. The food and drinks are always consistent and they have a large menu to choose from. Most recently we got the Upside Down halo halo and the Ube Leche Flan cupcakes. I loved the Halo Halo and the smaller size is very filling for one person. Definitely shareable. The ice cream is so good and I the Frosted Flakes add a great texture. Halo Halo means mix mix so don't forget to mix it all together before eating! The cupcake was pretty good but I felt the leche flan was a bit dry. It's great to try once but nothing too special and we will probably order other items next time to try everything. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing and the employee did seem like she was ready to go home but wasn't rude or anything. We thought we would be the last customers but several parties came in after us. They did end up turning customers away even though it was still 5 minutes before closing which was a bit off putting. I understand you want to go home early but if you're open until a certain time you should accept customers until then. Especially if you close at 8 pm daily, which isn't late at all. I was in the area on Sunday and so glad I was near! This has been on my list. Ruthy (Ruthie?) greeted me and explained the menu. She also let me know what vegan options there are. I got an ube milk tea with boba and soymilk for myself. I got a calamansi jasmine tea with boba for my husband. No pastries were vegan so I had to skip. I bake with ube a lot and I hope they will consider vegan baked goods in the future! For the drinks... they were good. I forgot to ask if it's real Ube or powder or extract. The drink wasn't super purple but that's ok considering it may be real Ube. It was 1.65 charge for alternative milk :( It was I think $2 for boba per drink :( It was about $21 for two drinks with tip. I won't lie, it was not a good amount of boba but the drinks are yummy. Best Halo Halo I've had in a very long time. I used to go to Island Pacific, Goldilocks and Tambayan, but now I'm coming here for it. I'm glad there are establishments in AZ and CA. I love ube and so I was recommended by a friend to visit Cafe 86. Right as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff. There are so many ube options to choose from so we will be back to try out their other ube options. The vibe is very relaxing and cool. You'll see Star Wars figures and art work on the walls. My husband ordered their ube latte with a shot of espresso. Typically this is caffeine free. It was very creamy and not overly sweetened. I ordered their green rose milk tea and although this was on the sweeter side it was still very good, floral, and creamy. Little did I know Cafe 86 was a chain that existed outside of California. I was in town visiting family and was craving for a boba drink. I leveraged good ole trusty Yelp for recommendations and of course, I came across this sweet gem in Arizona of all places. Cafe 86 is a chain cafe establishment primarily with locations in California. They've got one location in Arizona and one in Las Vegas. They also appear as a pop up restaurant at some Phoenix events which is where I found them. The workers were amiable and I tried out their upside down halo halo which is a traditional Filipino shaved ice desert dish consisting of evaporated milk/normal milk plus other ingredients such as jackfruit, jellies, and ice cream. I don't like beans in my halo halo so I was glad to see that they didn't have them. The upside down version of the halo halo features the base liquid as ube instead of the normal milk base and comes with coconut jellies, jack fruit, boba, frosted flakes, and a scoop of ice cream. They had a special pastry sampler which I also bought which included 1 ube leche flan cupcake and 1 ube crack cheesecake. I suppose crack is the correct term here as they were quite addictive. Ordered the flan ube cupcake, small halo halo, and a thai tea. Total was about $20. Found it to be a little pricey but it is what it is these days. I love Mexican chocoflan so was excited to try this Filipino version. Unfortunately the flan and cupcake were dense and dry. The halo halo was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. As far as drinks go, their ube milk tea with boba was solid but really nothing special. The churrochi is mochi dough grilled with butter and topped with cinnamon sugar and caramel. I have been here a few times now and have enjoyed the items that I have tried so far. It is not the same as taro, though both ube and taro flavored things tend to be purple, with the color usually artificially enhanced. Many Filipino restaurants will feature ube, specifically in their desserts. I've tried a few desserts from Cafe 86, including their ube tres leches and turon poptart. I came across this little cafe thru Instagram. It was to my delight when I realized it was only 3 min away from my work in Chandler. They are a Filipino based cafe so they have all sort of Ube dessert and drinks. I decided to get an afternoon pick me up and ordered a couple of drinks: Peach Mango Tea - Amazing! This tea has a hint of sweetness and a boat load of fruity flavors that I love. House Milk Tea with Boba - yum! I bought this for my daughter. I really liked it too because it wasn't too sweet and the boba was so soft. I couldn't leave without trying their tempting desserts: Ube cupcake with flan - not my fave. I found the cake a tad dry and the flan was overcooked for my taste. Ube cheesecake- this is their signature dessert. The owner was on the Food Network for this dessert. It's really good, great texture but I think the Ube flavor was lacking. The service was friendly. I would definitely come back again and try other dessert. read more

Small little cafe tucked inside a retail strip in Chandler. The treats give you that modern hint of Filipino desserts in the form of fun drinks and treats! The inside has this casual feel with a mix of fun graffiti graphics on the wall. There are a variety of drinks and treat options. I bought the Milo cupcake and chocolate cupcake, and tried a few staple items all enjoyed by my family. Staff were friendly and helped made recommendations.
