I have loved Insomnia 50s for a long time, and I just went to their location here- we tried the ice cream and absolutely loved it! I think the flavor is awesome, and I love that they are open so late! There is no free parking, so be aware of that, but the food is delicious.

Went here hoping for a quick dessert after dinner. We show up and we wanted 6 deluxe cookies. We were informed that any deluxe cookie would be a 25 min wait. That kinda sucked but we got 6 basic cookies but even then they were out of the chocolate chunk. We ended up getting m&m, whitechocolate macadamia, peanut butter chip, and double chocolate chip. They were tasty cookies. I hope to revisit this location soon and maybe be able to try the cookies we wanted the first time. Update: we went today ($2 deluxe cookies on Tuesday) and they had everything! They had all of the cookies in stock and we were in & out quickly! The staff was friendly and the vibe seemed a lot better than before.

I am obsessed with cookies! I had the classic chocolate chip cookie, and it was like an upgraded Pillsbury cookie. It's like $3 per cookie, but personally, I am a sucker for sweets, so I may come here with friends or if I am too lazy to make my own. 4.5 stars!

cute box to keep your cookies safe and warm!

Stopped in to pick up some warm cookies. I have stopped by a couple of times now and each time I came back in it was an off-peak time and they always had a good variety of warm cookies available. I have tried the following varieties: -chocolate chip -sugar -M&M -deluxe confetti (bigger size) -deluxe salted caramel (bigger size) - vegan gluten free chocolate chip Every flavor tasted excellent. For the vegan gluten free cookie, they did ask if there was an allergy concern and would put it in a separate box which I appreciated the effort. I also ordered the "cookie 'wich" which is their ice cream sandwich with 2 cookies. They had at least 6 flavors of ice cream to choose from. Due to covid, they packed it all separately and I constructed the cookie ice cream sandwich myself when I got home. Everyone working there is always friendly and nice. There is some counter seating where you can look out the window as you enjoy your warm cookie. However, the parking there is tough since there isn't any for several blocks so I put my hazards on, parked in front of the place, ran in to pick of cookies, and drove off to enjoy them down the street where I found some on-street parking.

Literally the worst location ever. Why in the world would they build this in a place that has virtually no parking?

Good food choices but be ready for a wait!…read more I have been to Wheat twice and tried a variety of the vegetarian dishes. I had the Vegetable Lo Mein, Braised Tofu, Mapo Tofu, Fried Rice and Spring Rolls. The Braised Tofu is not very flavorful, so I would avoid that. The Mapo Tofu is absolutely delicious and has that perfect peppercorn kick. It is spicy, so get a sweet drink on the side if you are not a fan of spice. Vegetable Lo Mein is a large quantity with lots of vegetables. Ask for some sauces on the side because it is bland on its own. On the other hand, the Fried Rice is yummy on its own or with the Mapo Tofu. Spring Rolls are a little oily to my liking but are a good vegetarian appetizer option. I will say that this place is always packed, even on weekdays and sometimes the wait staff forgets about you. It took several rounds to get them to take our order, give the food or even get the check at the end. I will try it out next time at lunch time because maybe it is a little faster. I plan to be back for the Mapo Tofu and Fried Rice

For example, when my friend told him that she wanted to order the beef intestine soup, he straight up said "uh are you sure? I think it's bad, I don't like that dish" which we all thought was a very strange thing to say. A lot of their menu items looked really good and while initially I thought that I would want to come back sometime and try them, the attitude of the waiter was so off putting that I highly doubt I'll ever be back here.

(I love sorbet, but sometimes you want rich ice cream). Besides chocolate mint and Vietnamese coffee, there's an enticing lime sorbet and a rotating seasonal flavor, which in late July was a blackberry crumble that is delicious with little bits of crumble ribboned throughout (I love to chew my ice cream). A single scoop is actually quite generous and only $5. Service is speedy and friendly. The seating is plentiful and it was such a hot day, I opted to stay inside rather than walk around and pretend I was eating gelato in a small Medieval town in Tuscany.

At lunch, I passed the A-frame they had outside and saw fellow conference attendees walk in. "Alright," I said. "I'll check them out later." I came in with one of my new connections and we happily chose our desserts. I chose their seasonal Girl Scout Mint flavor and my new connection chose a milkshake. Parlour staff let us sample the flavors they had in stock to help us make informed decisions. I appreciated it. Seating is in an adjacent room. The place carries a kid-friendly vibe and I saw one child happily enjoying her ice cream. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in DT Durham.

We came on a Friday evening at around 7pm, and there was no line (though a few people came in right behind us). The place is bright and airy, with some seating, and a great counter showing a selection of chocolate treats and the menu of milkshakes. I was delighted that they had some dairy-free milkshakes, given my lactose intolerance! And 4 choices no less! They of course had fancier flavors in the dairy set, more complex than CookOut (which I love). My girlfriend and I got the lactose-free cookies and cream milkshake. They fixed it on the spot, so we got it in maybe 2 minutes. Service was friendly-- they were patient with the customers behind us who were a bit unruly (more playful unruly than rude). One word-- DELICIOUS. Not too sweet, but just right. I've had some weird dairy-free milkshakes with a grittiness or chalkiness, but this was straight-up like how I remember the real deal. It was thick too, and unlike CookOut, they gave you a thick straw so you can actually drink with it. Why 4 stars and not 5? The price was a bit steep. With a $1 tip, this one shake (which was reasonably sized but far from huge) was over $10. But for the quality and selection, I do think it's "not unreasonable". Worth the try, and worth it for a special treat!

And it all started way back when being sold from a bicycle that was converted to dispense coffee! My spouse had an Americano and I had the Amalgamation cold brew tea when I saw someone walk by with it. He said it was very tart, but I thought I'd try it anyway. It's Very Heavy on the hibiscus tea, which is all I could taste, in spite of lemongrass, peppermint, orange peel, and cacaco nibs being in it too. I had some honey added, but that wasn't enough to temper the tartness so added some sugar, which only had a little effect. It wasn't until I added some half and half that it became better. That's my taste buds. Anyone else's may be different, but with or without the cream, it's a very pretty drink. We brought the cinnamon roll home to have later, but it smells divine.
