I've only recently started buying from insomnia. I've ordered twice from the location on 125th and once from their Penn Station location. Ironically, at both locations, I was met with the same poor, lack-luster, attitudes from employees. It seems like to have a white customer is a disturbance to the employees and they despise nothing more. I almost get the feeling that if my cookies could be thrown on the floor before being boxed it would bring these employees joy. I hate to think like this, but all 3 times I've gone to this store at both locations I was met with disdain and an attitude full of micro aggression; despite me being overtly friendly and kind to the staff. It's bad enough I'm not made to feel welcome in Harlem because I present as white, even though I'm actually Puerto Rican. I just can't idly stay silent anymore when treated like this at establishments I spend my hard earned money at. I think corporate for this company really needs to look into the employees they are hiring and train them customer service skills. I work in the medical field and if I treated one demographic more poorly for their skin color it would be HIGHLY unethical! My mother taught me to treat EVERYONE the same with dignity, respect and kindness. Do better! read more

They were refusing customers and had to close for several minutes because they were overwhelmed with pick up and delivery orders. Store manager Jennifer at 17 W125th was remarkably HOSTILE and cancelled our order and hung up on me when I simply called to inquire about the status of an order 1 hour and 10 mins after it had been placed...and five minutes after the scheduled delivery time. To back-up, 55 mins after the order was placed I called customer service to inquire about the status of delivery and was told that it would arrive at 930p. At 930p the order had still not arrived. At 935p I called the store directly to inquire about delivery. Jennifer - who later identified herself as the store manager - began berating me as soon as I provided the name associated with the order. She said "you just called ten minutes ago, we told you 930, it's only 935, it's only five minutes late, why are you calling again?!" Her tone was remarkably rude and hostile. She would not let me speak and continuously cut me off. I asked why she was being so hostile in response to an order inquiry and this made her IRATE. You'd think I insulted her mother. She said "I'm canceling the order" and hung up. I called back at 937p and asked her why she had cancelled the order and why she'd hung up on me. I informed her that my children were now crying because the cookie order had been for them. She continued to cut me off throughout the conversation and said I should call Customer Service if I wanted to make a complaint, which I did. I had late night cravings so I walked a couple blocks away from my apartment and visited this location. They didn't have many options to choose from, so I had a sugar cookie and an m&m cookie with Chocolate milk. My husband had a brownie and a deluxe chocolate chip cookie.
