Came to Insomnia Cookies for a late night snack after leaving a concert down the street. Upon entering, I noticed how empty it was and appeared to be no worker in sight. After standing at the counter for about 5 minutes, a worker appeared from the back. We proceeded to order and the worker states, we don't have any cookies, but then went to check the warmers and stated oh, we have some. To go into an insomnia cookies at night really fits for me. Experiencing the loop during the day and ending it on such a delicious and high note reminds me when I love coming for a huge chunk of time. Speaking of chunks these cookies are filled with scrumptious warm chunks of chocolate. Which I took advantage of by getting the super six box which includes a deluxe cookie which was by far my favorite of the bunch. I can always get behind a freshly made confetti cookie. My sister got the brownie with the Dreamweaver ice cream which was crazy amazing and I'm very glad she allowed me to try. They text you to call a number for curbside but there is nowhere to pull over not to block traffic if it's a busy weekend in the Loop. I tried to find a spot for a long time and finally just tried to pull aside and call the number. I was surprised that the number texted to me was an exchange line that wanted to lookup the store number and asked me to look for my confirmation number in my email. Finally had the opportunity to visit this place after my husband mentioned "some place in the Loop with warm cookies"! The cookies (and staff) were absolutely amazing! We ordered the six-pack which includes your choice of warm cookies. Our collection featured chocolate chip, M&M, sugar, and snickerdoodle. There wasn't a bad cookie in the bunch. Instead of milk, which they do have, we decided on vanilla icecream to help us pack on the calories. The staff was great from the very start of us walking in. They help to explain a couple of the menu items and provided prompt service. They also offer delivery of their cookies within reason of distance. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. My friends and I showed up to get the teacher special. There were 3 people in the store in front of us. The worker, Houston, told us only 5 people could be in the store at 1x and that it was going to be 25 more minutes. When we asked why, Houston (which I am pretty sure isn't his name), told us he had to count down his drawer and do his "chores." We asked him how he would know we were next in line and if he was going to come out and get us in 25 mins. Or suggested maybe he should lock the door so no one else would come in. He replied with, "I would lock the door but Corporate got mad at me last time I did that." To which I replied, "I'm pretty sure Corporate wouldn't be happy knowing you are turning down business to do your "chores." He continued to complain about all the things he had to do before he could go home. While sitting outside, 2 other people went in and came out and said they were told 45 minutes, and had been told 45 minutes a while ago. They went to eat and came back and the wait was still 25 minutes. Another person went in and came out and said he was told a 35 minute wait. It was disappointing because usually a cookie store has amazing cookies, I mean that is their speciality. I ordered a white chocolate macadamia cookie and a classic M&M cookie. They were just okay. Shop is tiny, no seating inside except for one tall table with 2 stools. They also sell ice cream so you can have a cookie sandwich. We got a box of 6 different kinds. Online order of 26 cookies... when we arrived they did not answer the door for pickup. They finally answered the phone after waiting another 20 minutes. Only then we were notified that they didn't have any (13) of the chocolate chip cookies ordered, Then proceeded to say that they actually didn't have a total of 26 cookies even available in the store. So the order was canceled but it's going to take 5 to 7 business days to get the refund and customer service only wanted to refund 13 of the cookies that they said they didn't have. This was kind of a spur of the moment kind of trip to Insomnia. I had some dinner with a couple friends at Mission Taco. I've heard the cookies were pretty delicious. I'm not a sweet tooth at all whatsoever which makes this a surprising stop for me. You walk in and it's nothing special. Not much scenery to look at. Basically you have a counter with ice cream and the cash register. There are a couple seats to sit down at but there's not much room to sit down and enjoy a fresh cookie. This place is obviously meant more for deliveries. Think of a Papa Johns, a few seats but not really meant for an in dining experience. I decided to try the Lemon macadamian traditional cookie. I got it fresh, soft and Gooey. It was delicious in my opinion and loved every bite of it. I wouldn't stomach spending the money on a cookie like that again if we're being honest. Overall, I'll give this place a 4 stars in my book. Delicious cookies but not good enough for me to spend the money on. I've had better in the kitchen. This is a place I had never been to but had heard so many great things about, so we made a last minute decision to stop after Mission Taco Joint. The atmosphere was warm and smelled incredible. They didn't have way too many options, which I appreciated. I decided to get 1 deluxe cookie and 1 regular cookie. I went with the S'mores cookie and the peanut butter cookie. The peanut butter cookie was to die for. I took one bit and it was literally melting in my mouth. It was soft and warm all throughout. If you have problems w/ compulsive eating, read no further. Insomina cookies solves a tough first-world problem I call The Freshness/Variety Cookie Conundrum. Generally, you can have fresh cookies, or you can have a variety of cookies, but it's hard to have both at the same time. Insomnia solves this problem by constantly baking lots of different cookies all the time, and bringing them to your door while they are still warm. Just opening the box (similar style to a pizza-box) and seeing an assortment of delicious fresh cookies is enough to make you extremely patriotic. The ordering process through the website is very efficient. Once you create an account, you're a couple clicks away from cookies at your doorstep. My first time I went for a dozen standard cookies ($14) I did 2 of the following -- Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Mint, Oatmeal Raisin, White Choc Macadamia, Peanut Butter Chip. They were all pretty good. I was hoping for a little more creative options, but you can't mess with the classics. I was very excited when I opened that box. I'd just take little nibbles of each cookie. It's more fun that way. The second time I tried out some of their deluxe cookies ($2.75 apiece) The Smores cookie and The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup cookie were pretty great. The Smores in particular, all warm and gooey (pause)..it left an impression. Both times the orders arrived within 30-45 mins.
