I found this place just looking on Google Maps and it was sooo great! My sister and I both got custard and it came out so quick. The ambiance is great and they have some picnic tables to sit on too. Actually some of the best custard I've ever had!

Not the best ice cream place, but still very good. When we walked here, we were greeted by the staff. There was a long line, but it went quick. It was because other parents like me wanted to get their children ice cream as an end of year treat. My kid wanted an Oreo Vanilla cone, but they said they could not do that. Instead, they replaced it with a sundae. He said it was still creamy and crunchy, even though he wanted it. The portions were slightly large for a small cone or sundae. Other than that, the place was still clean but with some of the paint chipping off the tables. Overall, good experience!

When I moved to St. Louis, I quickly learned that frozen custard is a big deal. There's an unspoken rivalry between Ted Drewes and Mr. Wizard's, and I finally had the chance to visit Mr. Wizard's on a Friday night. A Maplewood staple for over 30 years, this classic walk-up stand serves rich, creamy custard with a variety of toppings. While the flavor selection is limited, the mix-in options are nearly endless. I ordered the banana split, and it did not disappoint-the flavors were perfectly balanced, the custard was incredibly smooth and delicious, and it was served impressively fast. Although Ted Drewes remains my favorite, Mr. Wizard's is definitely worth a visit.

Part of a hot fudge concrete. Yum!!!

We love this place. Tonight I had a hot fudge concrete. I was asked if I wanted the hot fudge mixed in our layered. I didn't know so I asked the people behind the glass what they recommended. They were right (as usual). The custard was smooth and the hot fudge was creamy. My SO hot a strawberry concrete He loved it. The picnic tables were clean and dry considering we had a heavy rain earlier in the day. So why a 4 and not a five? Parking sucks. We will definitely be back.

I was excited to try a new to me local custard shop. Typically I only go to Ted Drew's l, but I like supporting others. The service was super at the window and assistance with the menu was appreciated. There are no indoor tables, but picnic tables outside. The area had trash cans and was clean. Order was up quickly and my son and I were excited! I had Mr. Wizard and my son S'mores. My initial bite seemed good, but then soured. The taste just was not as good as hoped. I tossed mine a few bites in. My son had similar thoughts unfortunately and did not finish. It's hard to give a negative review to a local business, but I'm letting the product lead on this review. A 2.5 rounding down. I will stick with Ted Drew's in Saint Louis.

Stopped by this ice cream spot and glad I did. The line moved fairly quick and the service was really good. The ice cream was soft and creamy and the strawberries on the strawberry shortcake was were fresh. Definitely my top ice cream spots. They have a nice patio to eat the ice cream.

I was craving a simple chocolate frozen custard with extra rainbow sprinkles, and Mr. Wizard's did not disappoint. Both the employee who took my order and the other employee who handed me my order were EXTREMELY friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic. They genuinely brightened my mood! While I recognize that my order was not at all complicated, I was still impressed that they handed me my cup quite literally seconds after I paid. The prices are very reasonable. There is a $0.50 charge if you pay with a card, which I didn't mind. Great menu, great service, and great atmosphere for the summer. It's safe to say that Mr. Wizard's fulfilled my craving and exceeded my expectations!

Simply wonderful frozen custard at Mr. Wizard's! Now that I have moved out of stl, anytime I'm back in town I try to make my way there for a classic chocolate vanilla swirled cone! It is a simple pleasure that's totally worth it! The service is always friendly and their shop has major summer vibes w the their outdoor seating/benches! I love bringing friends here for dessert and I can't wait to be back in town for more!

    Mr. Wizard small concrete

Some people say that this place is better than Ted Drewes but I still prefer ice cream to custard, so I'm not sure what I think in regards to that issue. We caught them on one of their last weeks for the season which I felt very lucky about. I ordered The Wizard small concrete, which is where they mix all the ingredients together, and thought it was very good. I really appreciate the hot fudge being mixed in as it created a Oreo-like consistency along with the brownies which was interesting. The strawberries though has got to be my favorite part, it was a good relief from the other super sweet parts of the ice cream. I will say that it does land on the sweeter side and a small concrete is more than enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Overall, very solid custard store. Will definitely come back to try more of their other specialty items but will currently make no comment regarding the Ted Drewes vs Mr. Wizard debate.

It definitely lives up to the hype in terms of popularity--the place was packed even at 10:30 PM, but the line moved quickly thanks to their efficient service. The concept is simple: the custard starts with a vanilla base, and you can customize it with a variety of toppings. They also offer a few other flavor options, so there's plenty to choose from. We tried a couple of different custards, and while they were good, I honestly didn't find them as exceptional as I expected given all the buzz. The flavors were enjoyable, but I felt they were a bit overpriced for what you get compared to other frozen dessert shops. One thing that surprised me was how quickly the custard started to melt, even before I had eaten much of it. Overall, it's worth trying if you're visiting St. Louis since it's such an iconic local spot, but for me, it didn't quite live up to the hype. It may be a beloved hometown favorite, but I'm not sure it's a must-visit destination for everyone.

They made a fresh pot of coffee and even went the extra mile to go get ice as we came in later in the evening and they had run out. It allows people to gather eat a sweet treat and have general conversation conversations where you can actually hear one another. They do have outside seating too. The chocolate cake was soft and as a non-cake lover I found this very delicious. Definitely worthy of sharing. I ordered a quiche to go. I had mentioned they didn't have the spinach feta pastry that I had before. The gentleman stated we have some in the back, I'm happy to get you one. So I ordered that too. And although this was only our second time coming, the fact that they'll make a fresh pot of coffee in my opinion is key to a great café. I will keep this in my rotation of places to go.

I'd attend such a meeting, but more so for the lulz (but also to share my beliefs). I'm pleased to report that there's none of that going on here, that I'm aware of. Granted, this was a Sunday morning. I was there with my running group as part of our ongoing unofficial breakfast burrito tour, the last such stop until this fall, due to upcoming marathon training. Of course it was the most unpleasant day of the year, maybe ever, with a heat index of 117 (no hyperbole). I changed shirts before I came in and then sweated through that shirt as well. One of the ladies I was with left a gross pool of sweat in her chair after she left. It didn't occur to me to pull a Charlamagne tha God until hours later. I'm growing as a human being. Part of that growth is gradually coming to realize that seasonal lattes, unless they have sort of especially distinct flavor, like banana, aren't going to taste like anything other generic artificial sweetener, let alone what they purport to be. I considered ordering an iced caramel latte, but I figured what the heck. I went with something called a Miso Brown Sugar Latte. It was good for what it was, but I don't know that anyone, if you gave it to them to try, could identify it as that. I liked the fact that it had a somewhat more pronounced coffee flavor, compared to some places where it mostly just tastes like a glass of milk. I wasn't as crazy about the fact that it took a while for the ice cubes to cool it down, probably longer than it would have taken if it were served in a glass cup. I went with something called the Annex Burrito, which I didn't realize until after I ordered it is not the only burrito they carry. I guess you can also get a bog-standard breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs and cheese. This one comes with corn, beans and some sort of unidentified crema for the same amount. Maybe they give you less bacon. Mine didn't have a lot of bacon, but the bacon it did have was not crisp and had a precooked vibe. The latter was more of an issue for me than the former. I'm a savage in that way. I did appreciate the fact that it was griddled, possibly using a panini press. The exterior was ever so slightly crisp, while the interior was pizza roll-level molten. The overall vibe was similar to those microwave burritos they used to carry at 7-11, but in a good way. All I needed was a mini truck enthusiast magazine filled with photos of bikini-clad Latinas and a Windex-blue Slurpee, but I was able to make do with a lukewarm mystery latte and the old ladies I run with. I'm resourceful.
