This was such a tasty dessert. I got the strawberry cheesecake. The texture of the shaved ice was so soft and creamy. And the toppings included a generous amount of strawberry slices and cheesecake bites that paired really well. The syrup was slightly too sweet but could be balanced out by the shaved ice. The price is also very reasonable (around 10 bucks) for something that can be shared by two, and service was efficient. Seating indoors is limited but you can sit outside.
Went on a Thursday evening for birthday! Earlier in the week I received a $15 coupon from being signed up for their rewards. This bought me a WHOLE flight. Yup you read that right; three plates of full sized shaved snow. We got cotton candy snow with gummy worms and strawberry syrup, vanilla snow with chlorate syrup and sprinkles, and then their Fitz snow (can't quite remember what it is called). Had a lovely time sitting outside and chatting with one of the owners. Hand's down one of my favorite sweet treat places in STL.
So happy we stopped here! The person working here was so nice to us and helpful with my son's allergies, plus the place is cheerfully decorated with tables inside and outside to sit at and enjoy your treats. The desserts are perfect, not too heavy or sweet - I got the Strawberry Cheesecake and it was delicious, with fresh strawberries and whipped cream plus cheesecakes bits. My kid loved his fruity pebble topped confection and my husband devoured his Strawberry Shortcake.
Where is the sixth star? This place is amazing! It is shaved ice that comes out exploding with flavor, it is light and fluffy and feels like a melt in your mouth taste of heaven on earth. I got the Fitz's Cardinal Cream, my daughter had the Vampuccino, and my son went with the Cloud Candy. They were all amazing (mine was the very best though) :) The people working here were equally amazing. Fun must visit place!

I had a few bites of everyone's and it was so good. Very light and delicious flavors. This will be our go to when we want to treat ourselves. It's a little far from where we live but worth the drive.

I can't wait to come back and try their other flavors!
Coming from someone who is obsessed with sweet treats, Vampire Penguin gets my full approval! Shaved snow is unlike anything else I've had before. Not quite ice cream, not quite a snow cone, but it's fluffy, rich, and topped with the most beautiful details that make it as picturesque as it is delicious. I had one that was covered in all sorts of chocolate toppings, and I've also tried their popular strawberry cheesecake. I'm usually pretty loyal to anything chocolate through and through, but I'll admit that the strawberry cheesecake, despite having no chocolate at all, was incredible. There's lots of other flavors that caught my eye though, so I can't wait to go back and check them out. Staff exudes kindness and will provide you with a personable experience every time.

Love the shaved ice. We were going to go to a boba place, but decided to come here since it was near our hotel. The prices were good. The shaved ice was amazing. It is much finer and airy than what our shaved ice machine at home can do. All the flavors we got were amazing. We also got the dulce de leche, strawberry shortcake, cloud candy. They were out of the coffee flavor so couldn't try the vampuccino. Apparently it takes 48 hours for the shaved ice to cool and be ready. The staff was very friendly. Will come back next time we are in St Louis. FYI. The place is small. So only two tables inside, but there was also some outdoor seating. read more

Tried Vampire Penguin and it lives up to the hype. Tons of flavors and everything tastes super fresh. It's light and refreshing, honestly better than ice cream!. Staff was really nice and there's a decent amount of seating. A little pricey for what it is, but the portion size is decent and it's easy to share. One of the best desserts ever! A lil shop in the CWE, with a chill welcoming staff. It's more of a sit outside and enjoy type place. Nice spot for a date too. They got plenty of flavors that sound great. We ended up with the strawberry cheesecake. Yeeeeea this was it! Soft like ice cream melts in your mouth like shaved ice. Along with delicious flavors & texture from the strawberries, crushed graham cracker, cheesecake pieces topped with whipped cream & a strawberry drizzle. Perfect dessert! I was welcomed upon entry after using street parking. The staff were informative, welcoming and friendly. They use compostable utensils which is a plus. The strawberry cheesecake is a new favorite I loved it. The graham cracker crust and cheesecake bites paired perfectly. Maybe more whole graham cracker pieces for texture. Wow....I have never had anything like this. Sweet, airy, light, and delicious. I opted for the Strawberry Cheesecake....probably the #1 seller. It was GREAT! You think of shaved ice, and a slushy comes to mind. This is nothing like that. They had another couple inside when I ordered. They really put together a nice presentation when serving. The 2 dishes that went to the table looked great. Mine was almost beautiful (should have taken the pic before the lid was put on). 2 of the 3 owners were running the place. They were both very nice. I'm giggling and kicking my feet at this place - it's a fun spot to get a sweet little treat and they have their own lore for their mascot, the vampire penguin! Also, fun plushies for merch and their own book series. The owners, Emily, Dax, and Ty, are pleasant individuals and my sister and I enjoyed talking with them. We got the mocha toffee and ice cream for breakfast (fruity pebbles). It's a delightful dessert that's lighter than ice cream or froyo and not as crunchy as shaved ice. Kind of similar to bingsu (Korean shaved ice) but still somehow fluffier! Emily was kind of enough to bring out the desserts to us as we waited outside, which only took a couple minutes after our order. They have a build your option as well so you can always mix up what you want. Not a bad spot located in central west end and I'm looking forward to trying their other flavors in the future! read more

Oh my! This place is fantastic. It was really nice to meet the two of three owners and talk to them for quite a while as we were the only ones there for a while. Ty and Dax are super nice and they explained the whole process of the vampire penguin franchise to us. Now let's talk about what we got. I ordered the Twix and it was amazing. They said I could add something to it so I added toffee bites, which made it even better. It was so light weight and was the perfect dessert after finishing a meal next-door. They have so many different options to choose from or you can just create your own. It's hard to explain ...it wasn't a snow cone, It wasn't an ice cream, it was just this wonderful combination of both. I had the Neopolitan flavor (strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate) which had a dusting of crumbled graham crackers on top. The texture of the shaved ice was very nice -- it was light and airy, like snow! The owners were also there and very friendly! Their most popular flavors are the Dulce De Leche and Strawberry Cheesecake. They also recently added a Saint Louis Gooey Buttercake flavor. I am not big on sweet treats but this is something I have gotten behind. My first visit here was so nice. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. This along with a calm ambiance with musical soundtracks playing in the background, were great. It is not overstimulating as some shops have loud music and bright lights. I said to my boyfriend "I feel welcome here" because it feels light. I got a build my own but forgot to take a picture because I was so impressed by the presentation. The snow itself is fluffy and flavorful, with the perfect amount of sweetness. Our first round was so good, we got a second round to go... round two was gone in a matter of a few minutes. Amazing experience! Me and my husband first time in St. Louis, looking for an ice cream place. Came here and was not disappointed at all. The owners brother helped us out and very insightful on things to do while in St. Louis. They were super sweet and so helpful.
