The service was quick and it is always the perfect snack for a summer day. We were a bit surprised this time that upon being served, the custard was already melted, it seemed like something was just a little off with the machine, which has never happened to us before. However, we still absolutely love this place and will definitely be back!

    Awesome frozen custard :)

This is everything I want in a good frozen custard! Soft and creamy, yet super flavorful with lots of unique flavors to choose from. Ted Drew's does a mighty fine frozen custard! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The line to order is perpetually long and there's not much seating anywhere, but that in itself added to the charm and ambiance of the location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the beginning you know you are going to a Midwestern classic and a St. Louis staple. I would most definitely come back again :)

On a recent trip to St. Louis this was definitely on my bucket list. To be honest I was slightly underwhelmed. The lines did move quick but it seemed that everyone already knew what they wanted to order even with the extensive menu. Only coming for the first time and knowing what I wanted to order I felt rushed ordering. The custard was also just okay but I did appreciate a water dispenser they had available!

This is a St. Louis tradition. The frozen custard is very tasty! There are multiple ordering windows, so the frozen custard comes out quickly. The clerk who took our order was efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a special feeling of older days when standing and eating custard and talking with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The new traffic crossing light is much appreciated!

Fast counter service - friendly staff and iconic 1920's institution. So many options but if you're here for your first time the concrete is your best bet. Many flavors, rich creamy and delicious. Definitely a Route 66 must see.

The OG of saint louis style custard. Folks come from up the street and from different countries to this saint louis icon. The custard is always the perfect temperature and texture. The classic vanilla cone has never failed me, but the concretes are always nice too. I love how creative this small walk up gets with the weekly flavors and classic mixes. The sizing is great for the price, but if you cannot find a bench to enjoy a large, please make it back to your car and step on the gas before it melts! I am so glad they finally installed an accessible cross walk with a traffic light. There is accessible parking on both sides of the stand but be warned that the lines do get long on busy nights. Also a pup cup costs money here but you get a nice dish (tubbaware) keepsake.

It's a classic and popular for a reason since the ice cream by itself is one of the best in the country since it's super creamy. There are plenty of toppings to choose from and I got the banana and caramel, which were pretty good. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area. There's even a shop and a small museum about the history of the place.

Couldn't leave STL without trying Ted Drewes and wowie. Truly fantastic Oreo concrete. I get the hype. I went to the airport location so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but truly the custard was so delightful that this deserves a 5/5.

Such a STL staple. They are always busy no matter what day it is. So many toppings to choose from, or you can get one of their specials they have. The ice cream is rich, sweet and soft. The service lines can be long and congested but they move quick. Just make sure to listen for your order.

Love it here! Always fast service with a smile. Every time I com to StLouis I stop here.

Exactly as you would hope it would be. A ton of flavors. Great size choices. I had pineapple in a cup and it had chunks of real pineapple. The crew was friendly and it felt local and old school. They have a little museum and gift store also.

Sooo good! Reminded me of home even if home was in NJ! I got the TeDad which had local oatmeal cookies and custard. Beautifully creamy and crunchy. Had the perfect mix of textures and flavors. Service was super fast as well! Don't miss the fun souvenir store they have.

To paraphrase a line, Ted Drewes is a tradition like no other. St. Louis's love affair with its frozen custard has spanned generations.

My last review was on 9/28/2014. A lot of time has passed since then. My youngest granddaughter was in a performance. She was a dancing angel. Her reward is a Ted Drewes frozen custard cup. In the original flavor vanilla. I did not participate in the delight as I worry about specific health issues. Now, in my late 70s, things I could do at 60 are no longer an option. Efficiency experts should study how they handle large crowds. High school-age kids have always staffed Ted Dreses. When they finish one order, they call for the next customer. Line moves fast. When the season slows down, Ted Drewes becomes THE place to get your Christmas Tree. Getting your tree on a lot with a building with fake ice cycles is just St. Louis. I hope the tradition of frozen custard and Christmas trees continues for another century and from the same building.

We came in on a Friday evening, a little before 8, and decided to sit at the bar. We didn't get home until 10:30. And we live 10 minutes away. Two and a half hours. The bartender was great, very sweet, and was super apologetic. She made us fantastic drinks all night. And I will say, the food was incredible. But it took almost an hour to get just our salads out. And then another hour to get our main. A gentleman behind us came in at 9PM and was gone by 10PM. I'm not sure if our ticket got lost or what, but it was a very odd experience for us. We shared a few things and I will say, they split the plates for us and it was awesome. I was a big fan of the food in general. But my complaint the first time here was timing of service, and looks like it's a continuous issue for them. It's a bummer because I would love to come back, and maybe if we're not starving and in the mood for a long drawn out meal, we'll come back, but definitely not going to be a regular spot for us.

As I was walking to the door, I see a man cleaning the tables. He walks toward the door as I'm walking up to it. We're literally standing face to face with the door in between us. I smile, he is stone faced. I go to open the door as he walks away. The door is locked. I try a few more times, thinking maybe it's me. I look around at the hours again, but next to it is a "we're open" sign. I try maybe 3-4 times more before I give up. I walk to the window and he's sitting at a table toward the back, looking at me. We just look at each other, then he looks at his computer. I turn toward my car, then turn back around and he's still looking at me! I sat in my car, confused. He never looked back up from his computer, so I left. Highly disappointed.

They made a fresh pot of coffee and even went the extra mile to go get ice as we came in later in the evening and they had run out. I did tell them they didn't need to, but he insisted which I thought was outstanding. This quaint little café is so charming inside. It allows people to gather eat a sweet treat and have general conversation conversations where you can actually hear one another. They do have outside seating too. The chocolate cake was soft and as a non-cake lover I found this very delicious. Definitely worthy of sharing. I ordered a quiche to go. I had mentioned they didn't have the spinach feta pastry that I had before. The gentleman stated we have some in the back, I'm happy to get you one. So I ordered that too. And although this was only our second time coming, the fact that they'll make a fresh pot of coffee in my opinion is key to a great café. I will keep this in my rotation of places to go.

I'd attend such a meeting, but more so for the lulz (but also to share my beliefs). I'm pleased to report that there's none of that going on here, that I'm aware of. Granted, this was a Sunday morning. I was there with my running group as part of our ongoing unofficial breakfast burrito tour, the last such stop until this fall, due to upcoming marathon training. Of course it was the most unpleasant day of the year, maybe ever, with a heat index of 117 (no hyperbole). I changed shirts before I came in and then sweated through that shirt as well. One of the ladies I was with left a gross pool of sweat in her chair after she left. It didn't occur to me to pull a Charlamagne tha God until hours later. I'm growing as a human being. Part of that growth is gradually coming to realize that seasonal lattes, unless they have sort of especially distinct flavor, like banana, aren't going to taste like anything other generic artificial sweetener, let alone what they purport to be. I considered ordering an iced caramel latte, but I figured what the heck. I went with something called a Miso Brown Sugar Latte. It was good for what it was, but I don't know that anyone, if you gave it to them to try, could identify it as that. I liked the fact that it had a somewhat more pronounced coffee flavor, compared to some places where it mostly just tastes like a glass of milk. I wasn't as crazy about the fact that it took a while for the ice cubes to cool it down, probably longer than it would have taken if it were served in a glass cup. I went with something called the Annex Burrito, which I didn't realize until after I ordered it is not the only burrito they carry. I guess you can also get a bog-standard breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs and cheese. This one comes with corn, beans and some sort of unidentified crema for the same amount. Maybe they give you less bacon. Mine didn't have a lot of bacon, but the bacon it did have was not crisp and had a precooked vibe. The latter was more of an issue for me than the former. I'm a savage in that way. I did appreciate the fact that it was griddled, possibly using a panini press. The exterior was ever so slightly crisp, while the interior was pizza roll-level molten. The overall vibe was similar to those microwave burritos they used to carry at 7-11, but in a good way. All I needed was a mini truck enthusiast magazine filled with photos of bikini-clad Latinas and a Windex-blue Slurpee, but I was able to make do with a lukewarm mystery latte and the old ladies I run with. I'm resourceful.
