I walked in hoping to pick up a to go order. I stood around for 10 mins. No one ever even came out. I'm pretty sure some of the staff was at a table having lunch and watched me looking around for someone and no one said a word. You wouldn't think a Mediterranean restaurant in a small town this far from Southeast Europe would be that good. It is especially deceiving that a little hole in the wall open until midnight (or longer on the weekends) serves such great food. Insomnia, aptly named, is a pleasant surprise! Smack dab in the middle of Auburn's campus and frequently recommended by college kids, this is a wonderful experience! Admittedly, after eating food in Greece and Turkey, it's almost impossible for any restaurant in the U.S. to earn five stars from me. But trust me, this three-star review is a huge compliment. The thin-cut fries with spicy seasoning are absolutely outstanding, maybe the best menu item! The lamb kabob is pretty tasty, but the accompanying grilled vegetables are amazing. So is the Greek dressing on the salad! Everything is very fresh here! I'd skip the mediocre hummus, but the rest of the food ranges from good to incredible. Also, just realize how hard the few employees work. Imagine closing up on a weekend long after midnight, then being prepared to open the next day at 11:00 a.m., and putting a smile on your face for the customers. The employees couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming, genuinely nice people with a great attitude! And despite a considerable number of takeout and Uber Eats orders taking place as we entered, the food was cooked in an incredibly expedient manner and brought out within 20 minutes! Nope, nope, and nope! Read the good reviews and we really wanted to like this place. Put the bad reviews aside, and tried to "keep an open mind". Boy was I wrong! My partner and I had the gyro pita wrap, and our vegan dining companion had the falafel pita wrap. We added a side of hummus with pita bread. The food was tasty, so flavorful. The service was friendly and relatively fast -- we were on the late side for lunch and it wasn't terribly busy by then. The only downside is that the place needs a good cleaning. If the food hadn't been so tasty, this would have had a bigger impact on my rating, but tasty food that we can all enjoy is a treat. read more

I really wanted to like it. I'm all for a hole in the wall that's not much to look at but has incredible food cooked with love and this just was not that for me. The place is dated and dingy which is absolutely fine; but what's not okay is the level of cleanliness. If I had used the restroom before I ordered, we would have left without dining. All of that being said--I was still holding out hope that the food would make the lackluster ambiance worth it and it was just such a let down. The Greek salad was just iceberg lettuce with an underripe cucumber and some veggies that looked like they had been sitting out too long. The dressing was good but what's the point if you don't want to eat the stuff that's dressed with it? The Kafta Kabob didn't taste like herbs or seasoning it just tasted like a cheeseburger. The silver lining were the pita and hummus--they were so good that I was able to choke down the kafta if I made little hummus, pita tacos with a little piece of it. I'm really not trying to be bratty and I don't take it lightly that reviews like this can impact a small business but I work hard for my money and I'm really disappointed in what $46 (plus tip) got me here and think the local health inspector really needs to be paying these folks a visit. read more

This place is a hole in the wall, which is usually a good thing, but this was a good thing. I've had true Mediterranean food, and this was as close to it as I've had. Even the sweet tea tasted like it had cinnamon and spearmint in it, which was a good add-in if it was. You definitely can't go wrong with anything here. I heard an Auburn student tell her friend, "You have to have their fries, they are lit! " if I ever get to come back here, I'm going to get their hamburger and fries just to see what all the fuss is about. read more

I came here while visiting my best friend, and she INSISTED on bringing me here for the amazing wings! Well, the prices were great (especially coming from CA) but the size of the wings was very sad. They were very tasty, and she was right, the sauce is not ur regular Buffalo sauce. The fries were also crispy, fresh, and delicious (also having their own seasoning), but I can't get over how small the wings were, they were like 3inches long which is sad when they were so delicious you would want more! The food is delicious. Best burgers in the area, generous servings. Love their shush kabobs, the grilled veggies are great and there is so much! Owners are so friendly. The ambiance is just okay but the good food makes up for it. It's clean but nothing fancy. If you haven't tried it go here for a great meal! It's open late pretty much everyday and food is cooked when you order it not kept in a warmer. The sweet tea has mint added to it so if you don't like that get something else but it has a great flavor. They have sodas as well. If you are in Auburn definitely try this place out. As someone else stated the curb appeal isn't great but it's close to campus and the food makes up for it. Sirloin Tips are great. We go all the time! read more

The wings are bomb. Always cooked fresh to order so it takes a while for your food to come up. But they come out super crispy and the sauce is finger licking gooooood. My husband got a regular hamburger, and I ordered the Kafta burger, both came "all the way". Very tasty. Two days ago I ordered a gyro. All meat was very tender and flavorful. Widely diverse menu, and I can't wait to try the other items offered. Falafel, Lamb, Baba Ghanounj, hummas, chicken, and kids meals. You can get just sandwiches, Pita roll-ups, or plates. Ordered the sampler plate. The chicken was dry but the rest of the food were excellent specially the Kafta meatballs. The rice was also very delicious and loved the hummus dip. However, it's a little bit pricey for the portion of food that I received. The sweet tea was also amazing. It's my first time to try sweet tea with mint flavor in it but it tasted really good. They could improve on the decor and the tables and chairs because it looks dilapidated and not very neat. Will come back to this place again and try their other dishes. read more

Incredible Mediterranean food!! first time trying lamb kabobs and I'm hooked. The veggie kabobs were really good as well as the rice.

I ordered the Kafta Kabob Lebanese Meatballs Pita Roll-Up. If you order this and substitute the mustard and mayonnaise with babaganoush, it's a home run. The prices here may seem a little high at first but they really give you your money's worth. My Kaftka Kabob Pita Roll-up was $5.50 but it was a large roll so you won't go hungry even without adding a combo. The guy working here is really nice but if you ask him what people usually order here, he'll tell you that this place has the best chicken wings and burgers in all of Auburn... They're located next to a liquor store. They also have Mediterranean gifts in a glass cabinet beneath the hookahs. read more

Went here to get falafel for lunch (aside from the PitaPit I think this may be the only place in town to get a falafel) The place itself is sorta run down and crappy looking inside ... almost to the point of making me concerned about my food ... so if you get something get it to go. Better yet call ahead and order for pick up so you don't have to hang around and wonder what the kitchen looks like. The guy working there was pretty nice. The food was passable but that was about it. I might go back if I can't find any place else to get a falafel. read more
