    Chicken on Asiago
    Tessa A.

The gal at the cashier was super sweet & great to work with...however, the food was a totally different story. I ordered a pick 2 meal & my salad was great. My sandwich legitimately had ONE little slice of chicken & next to it, a slice of mozerella cheese. I ate my salad in house but had to run home since I had my 5 month old with me. So I packed my sandwich to eat at home & discovered this, or else I would have brought it over to have it fixed. PLEASE, if you don't have enough supplies to make a complete sandwich, don't make me pay for it with hard earned money.

Sourdough Bread Bowl with Mac & cheese.
    Virginia T.

I ordered a Mac & cheese bread bowl. They said they were out of bread bowls so I said I would take any bread. Got home and this was in my bag. Paid $10 for this and when I asked the manager for extra Mac & Cheese to replace the bread bowl he was rude and said it was too expensive. Panera bread company has a net worth of more than $7 billion. I'd like my money back because if I would have realized this was all I got before I left the store, I would've asked for a refund.

Why are the smoothies significantly smaller now for the same price? The food and drink here are already pricey. $12 for 2 kid sized smoothies.

Steak and Arugula sandwich and Tomato soup in a bread bowl
    Sarah N.

Panera gets 5 stars from me because they are consistent and there is not a thing on the menu that I have tried and not liked. My favorite item on the menu is the Tomato Soup in a bread bowl. It's tangy, salty, and when you dip the sourdough bread bowl pieces into in it just makes for the perfect taste combination. Their other soups are good too, I really like the broccoli cheddar and the cream of chicken with wild rice have both been delicious. But for me personally it gets no better than the tomato. The Asian Sesame Chicken Salad is another winner for me. It's got everything I want in a salad which is a bit of crunch from the wontons and the almonds and and the slightly sweet from the sesame dressing. Perfection. For breakfast I love love love their everything bagel and I like to slather it with as much cream cheese that I can fit on it's little bagel corners. I also think I'm the only one who likes this but does anyone else like the raspberry brisk that they have here? I can't find it served anywhere else. But I'm obsessed with it. There is just one complaint I have and it's only because we are in the south, but the last time I went here they didn't have any sweet tea. NO SWEET TEA. Goodness my husband about freaked out when he noticed that. Haha maybe it was just that one time we went but still it was weird.

A friend & I got to drop in for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The decor hasn't changed much - it's still comfortable & clean. There's free parking in the front & sides of the building. Love: service (kind, helpful); lobster egg rolls (crispy, delicious filling); turkey wrap (soft lavosh bread, dip in honey mustard & tzatziki); sweet potato chips (best in the restaurant game); toffee cake (moist, added praline pecans for crunch)

Garrett suggested Amsterdam for lunch. Located near the Auburn campus, Amsterdam is one of more well known eateries off campus. Students may not have eaten at Amsterdam, but most can point you in the right direction. I've been tricked by appearances before but Amsterdam is in a category of its own. There's a front and a back part of the building. But I didn't know that until we were led to our table in the back. The front part is a typical "smallish" restaurant with tight booths and tables. The decorations of impressionist painters adorn the walls giving the front dining room a warm inviting feel. When we were led to our table, I thought I was being led to the restrooms. We actually went past the restrooms down a small flight of stairs and into another large room. This beautiful back room was oozing the "hidden wine cellar" vibe throughout. There were tables and chairs in the center with smaller tables and chairs lining one wall and booths on another. Then there's a large full service bar lining the 3rd wall and a workstation on the 4th wall. The ceiling with hanging panels of wood moved the light beautifully and impressed me. There was also a large floor to ceiling wine rack next to our 4 top. Gary tried their Omelet. Three eggs served with conecuh sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, cheddar cheese, and potatoes. With the sourdough toast, the plating was immaculate. I didn't get to taste it, but Gary didn't have any deiicions/ Garrett opted for their Brunch special: Apple & Pecan Freeman toast. When it arrived to our table, we immediately noticed the large slices of French toast. As promised, the French toast was topped with slices of peaches and apples and butter brown sugar with white powder sugar as well. Again I didn't get to taste, but I savored it with my eye. Paul and I tried the Amsterdam Burger. He got some fries as his side, but I upgraded my side to a beautifully plated side salad. With the added fried egg, my patty was grilled to a perfect medium with just a hint of pink. Stacked with it was some lettuce, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, spicy pickles, tomato and their traditional burger sauce all squeezed together between 2 bun halves, it has to be stabbed with a long food pick to hold it together. It was juicy, tasty and just Yom Yom Yom Yom. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. Other notable menu items include fried brussels, lobster egg rolls, rum salmon, breakfast croissant, snickerdoodle pancakes, steak & eggs, egg white omelet and shrimp & grits. I was told their Crab Cake & Avocado is to die for. Meal prices are on the high end but Amsterdam understands how to elevate Southern comfort food.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.
