We really appreciate the care and attention Vinnie gives to our vehicles - advising when tires need to be changed, inspecting brakes, topping-up fluids, and providing maintenance information about our vehicles (we aren't "car people", so we rely on the expert advice Vinnie gives)! There's no upselling and no repairs recommended that aren't needed - in fact, one of our vehicles was getting a bit older, with over 240k miles on it, and Vinnie suggested it was time to look at buying a newer vehicle (he advised on which makes/models were good and which ones to stay away from in his experience), since otherwise, the repairs were likely going to continue. He would've benefited financially from us continuing to get our old car repaired - but now we have a newer-ish car and it doesn't need to be serviced other than the standard maintenance of a 30k mile car - all of which we will gladly do at Healdsburg Auto, when the time comes. Since Healdsburg Auto is only a block North from Big John's Market and two blocks away from Plank Coffee, it's a convenient location to pop over for a quick coffee while Vinnie changes the oil and gives the car a once-over. Or sometimes we bring the kids and a soccer ball and head to the field and playground a block North on Healdsburg Ave. Either way, within no time at all, the service is complete, and we're headed back to pick-up the vehicle and get back on the road, confident in the work that's been done. I brought in a new…read moreto me 1993 LS400 that was leaking oil from the valve covers, barely failed the 25mph portion of the smog test for hydrocarbons, and I asked about a timing belt job as well as possible spark plugs and wires. I left the car and agreed to the diagnostic fee. No issues there. Darlene called me back and confirmed that the valve covers were indeed leaking, and provided a quote of around $1,000. I asked if it needed a timing belt job or if the tech thought it could also be camshaft/crankshaft seals. She put me on hold and then said "Oh yeah, it needs a timing belt job too." Not sure why she wasn't prepared with that information, but it seemed odd. The quote for that was above $2,500. I then asked about the smog and Darlene told me I had lazy catalytic converters and that they needed to be replaced at almost $3k. All in all, the quote was going to be $6,500+. I don't know if this diagnostic was malicious or simply negligent, but either way it was unacceptable. I picked up the car the next day and took it to another shop. The other shop told me I didn't need new cats, then did the valve cover gaskets, timing belt job, spark plugs & wires for about $1,000 cheaper. They also replaced the PCV valve I provided ($20 part) for free and the car passed smog with flying colors. Sure the cats may have fixed it, but you shouldn't go with the nuclear option first, at the expense of the customer.

He is detail-oriented and is unwavering from being client-centered. Bob initially called me back and told me that what I was looking for (and at the time) would be very difficult to find. I was looking for a specific pick up truck in a pre-determined configuration. After three weeks of looking, he was able to locate one that was at an out of town dealership that I could easily get to. We made arrangements to see the truck and based on site and lack of other options, I bought the truck assured that it was the last truck in California with my specs. According to the dealer it had just arrived after being delayed in shipment and that future shipments were cancelled due to the world-wide microprocessor shortage. I had Bob review the specs. Bob already had me talk to my Credit Union for a pre-approved loan. The Dealership even talked to my credit union and brought down the APR from 3.02 to 2.9. I did end up paying for nitrogen in the tires and for the "installation" of the floor mats but marginal considering my diminished options. Anyway, Bob seemed to always be on the hunt for me and was very up to date about the goings on with the shipping and other details. He was easy to talk to and precise in what he had to say.
