Our previous cars were acquired from a family member and a trusted mechanic. We had no direct experience dealing with an actual car dealership. All we really knew was that we needed a replacement for our 2003 Subaru Forester, which had just been totaled in an accident. Injuries were thankfully non-critical, but we needed a replacement car and wanted another Subaru. After multiple fruitless and frustrating interactions with private sellers and others, most miles from our home, we discovered and reached out to Hansel Subaru. Andrew and his colleagues were cordial, empathetic, patient, and knowledgeable. In our climb up the mountain of first-time car buying, Andrew became our Sherpa, smoothly and efficiently guiding us to a 2016 Subaru Outback in pristine condition, at a fair and affordable. He even helped us return the rental we'd been using. And when he found out neither of us carried a checkbook, he drove us home in our "new-to-us" car to pick up our check. Used or new, where you buy your car, and the people who sell it to you, can affect your satisfaction with your experience as much as your choice of vehicle. A representative from Hansel BMW asked me to contact Service Manager Nick regarding my concerns. Nick is the same manager involved in my original complaint. Following their request, I scheduled an appointment and brought my vehicle in at 7:45 a.m. last Friday. The service advisor took my keys, and I left. About 15 minutes later, he called me asking what was wrong with the vehicle, forcing me to explain the entire situation all over again. I was then told it would cost $287 just to diagnose the problem because it was "probably a software issue." Let's review the facts: * Two years ago, I paid approximately $2,800 to have the head unit replaced. * Now I'm being told I have a non-OEM rear camera, a non-OEM screen, and "probably" a software issue. * After dealing with this same problem for almost a year, Hansel BMW still expects me to pay another diagnostic fee before they'll even discuss a solution. I declined. After everything I've already gone through with this dealership, I'm not paying another $287 just to hear more speculation. The good news is that my extended warranty does not require me to use Hansel BMW. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. I also emailed Nick after this latest experience. As of today, I still haven't received a response. This entire experience has been disappointing, frustrating, and a complete waste of my time. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Hansel BMW.

I purchased a new car last year and brought it in twice since then for service: once for a clogged downspout (clogged by debris during a major rain storm, causing water to leak inside my car - eek, but thankfully fixable!) and once for my standard 20,000 service check. Both times the service team was friendly, clear, and efficient in getting the job done. During my most recent service, I worked from their welcoming customer lounge which is equipped with a few tables and chairs, power outlets, and a snack/drink station. I shouldn't have to ask. I purchased my Jeep from Healdsburg Jeep and I purchased the extended warranty at that same time. This information should be front and center in my records in their software program. All and all, Anthony is pleasant and he appears capable. I just don't like being treated like they treat people at the drive-through oil change facilities. I want to be able to trust them and not feel like I am being gouged.
