I have neuropathy in my feet and having a foot massage every now and again does help with blood circulation and just overall feels better. This experience did nothing for me. Again, my technician was sweet despite our language barrier her kindness shined through, but her abilities were lackluster and not what I'm used to from utopia. She did give me a full hour of massaging anyway, so no complaints there. I definitely should have arrived at least 5 minutes early, though! About the massage. The website indicated that deep tissue would cost more, but it was plenty "deep" and rough, as is. Elise did, of course, ask me to let her know if it was ever too much, but I don't like to give alot of critique during massages; I like to let them do their thing as much as possible. But I did have to speak up when it felt like she was repeatedly kneading a softball into my neck!! Some people may love massages like that, but it was honestly far too painful for me. She had some moves where it felt like I was being choked and when she kneading into my scalp, I was wincing in pain. I get that I'm tight and she was just trying to loosen it, but it was just way, way too much pressure! And I am usually one to love deep tissue massages!! The moment you walk in, you're asked to sanitize your hands and take off your shoes, making everyone's safety a priority from the get-go. You'll notice a beautiful shelf of items (like Incausa incense, locally made jewelry, ceramics, etc) and a wonderfully-clean and intimate waiting area. I was led to the adjacent room, a warmly-lit area with yummy, natural fragrances in the air. The spa table where I laid down for the application was heated and felt so therapeutic on my back (a killer bonus, honestly). Marisa was super personable and informative on the lash lift and tint process and generously offered information on other services and products.
