I want to get strong now to prevent any of that happening in my future and I am so glad I decided to try some classes. I am currently taking Zumba Gold and Tai Chi and really loving both. I have absolutely noticed how my legs have gotten stronger and I feel more confident walking with improved posture and balance. Molly Roffman, the owner and instructor at StepWISEnow, is a physical therapist. She is so knowledgable about balance and fall risk and gives talks to medical professionals about its importance. Molly is an excellent and patient instructor. Her enthusiasm is infectious and when we're doing Zumba Gold, it's so much fun, you don't even feel like you're working out. Tai Chi class has made me stronger and feel so graceful, which is something new for me. If you have been thinking about your balance or have friends or relatives you might be concerned about, you need to come here. It's a warm, comforting and supportive place. Molly also offers a separate workshop on balance training, which has been very popular in the studio. Our neighborhood is so lucky to have StepWISEnow. I enjoy most learning tai chi which is amazing when practiced 2+ times a week, improving balance, improving strength. It's very calming, especially doing it in a group! And Molly is a wonderful instructor who offers a deep yet practical knowledge and makes it accessible to all. I started last spring because of some osteoarthritis and feel so much better, my pain is much much less, and I move better, too. If you are over 55, check this studio in Ossining out! Lots of class offereings -- line dancing, chair yoga, zumba gold that gets your heart pumping, etc. Honestly, I'm so happy it's in my neighborhood!

It was quite a lovely Autumn day where a group of about 10 people arranged out mats in a large circle on her property. It was very invigorating doing the poses and meditation in the brisk clean air. But more than that it was about connection to all the people and specifically Elana's professional leadership in making people feel accepted, appreciated and cared for. The 5 hours of that afternoon flew by and at the end of the day I was enriched and inspired. These kinds of gatherings are far too few for me and I would advocate to have more of them in my life.

I've attended a lot of yoga classes (at the gym and other studios) but I actually like these best. The format is perfect....getting settled to relaxing music, moving into simple cat/cow/down dog postures and working up to more complex and varied asanas, then a great ending meditation with candles. I found the owner, Maria, down to earth and welcoming; she made a really special space. The classes I've attended so far are a mix of people, (different ages and abilities) but it all "works". As a small business owner myself, I appreciate that she went the extra mile to provide everything for a class (mats, blocks, blankets, even water and hair elastics when I forget to bring one!) Definitely worth trying if you want to give yourself a relaxing experience.

I've been going to Lisa Schoenholt's pilates mat classes for the past year and it's a real bright…read morespot in my busy week. I started out as beginning pilates student having only taken one discouraging mat class before and became a devoted regular even throughout my entire pregnancy. The classes are small, typically more than 6-8 students and so you get very individual attention. Lisa is a great teacher, patient, precise in her direction, always looking to see whether you're exhibiting correct form. Also I learned about diastasis which is when your stomach muscles split while pregnant. Thanks to Lisa I managed to avoid that fate. Beyond the great instruction, I've found her classes to be a real community. I've had such great support and encouragement from other classmates, especially the moms in the class. It was like they were rooting for me all the way to have a great pregnancy experience. Lisa also runs potlucks and clothing swaps among her students and in general just makes the atmosphere fun and more than just about exercise.
