While everyone else leaned into pancakes and eggs, I went straight for the club sandwich -- and wow. First of all, the portion size is HUGE. I'm talking stacked-high, could-easily-share (but won't want to) kind of huge. Fresh ingredients, perfectly toasted bread, and packed with flavor. Definitely not your average breakfast plate. The staff was incredibly friendly and impressively fast. Even during the morning rush, we felt taken care of and never rushed. Food came out quickly, hot, and exactly as ordered. Whether you're a die-hard breakfast fan or someone like me who'd rather have lunch any time of day, Sara's Kitchen is a fantastic choice. Great food, generous portions, and welcoming service -- we'll absolutely be back.

The restaurant is located in a plaza, so parking was easy and convenient. From the outside, the restaurant looks adorable. Once inside, it's a bit smaller than expected, but still charming. My biggest issue was how close the tables were to one another. I genuinely felt like I was having breakfast with the families seated on either side of us. The tables were so close that I could have reached over and grabbed something off their plates if I wanted to. It made the experience feel cramped and lacking in privacy. The service was decent and our food was just okay. I ordered the French toast, which I enjoyed and thought was pretty good. My boys both ordered pancakes and complained that they were dry and needed a lot of syrup--we actually had to ask for extra syrup to make them more enjoyable. My husband's hash browns were overcooked, while mine were undercooked, so consistency seemed to be an issue. That said, we made the best of it and still enjoyed spending time together. While this wasn't a place that wowed us enough to return, I'm glad we took the chance and tried somewhere new. Sometimes that's part of the fun of exploring local restaurants.

Diner Review: A Sunny Saturday Delight Date: Saturday,…read more11/2025 Time: 7:15 - 8:25 AM Weather: Sunny Ambiance: Walking into this diner felt like stepping into a cozy retreat with a charming twist of nostalgia. The venue boasts a retro counter, cozy booth seating, and numerous tables, making it an inviting spot for folks of all mobility levels. Although we aren't physically challenged, the easy navigation impressed us. The abundant windows let in a flood of sunlight, perfect for those with vision challenges. When we arrived, the place was pleasantly quiet, but by the time we left at 8:15 AM, it turned into a bustling hub! Ah, the magic of daylight savings--proof that a week later, everyone's still waking up at the crack of dawn for cracked eggs! Service: Upon entering, we were greeted with the freedom to sit wherever our hearts desired--a rare treat! The staff was plentiful, with servers, runners, and bus staff dancing around like a well-choreographed musical number. Our main waitress, Payton, was exceptional--accommodating and patient, especially since it was our first visit. Each time we needed extra napkins or a coffee refill, staff members swiftly responded as if they had been trained to anticipate our needs. Everyone radiated friendliness--no disgruntled faces here! Even amidst a mini waitress convention in front of the beverage area, the camaraderie among the staff was evident, all while keeping an eye on customer needs. It's nice to see people enjoying work instead of treating it like a chore! Food: Now onto the pièce de résistance! For my order, I sought Payton's expert guidance on a hybrid egg dish. I decided on the Taylor Ham pork roll, complete with cheddar and a fried egg, all nestled in a toasted croissant, accompanied by crispy hash browns. Let's just say, my taste buds were throwing a party! As for my husband, he ordered a Swiss omelette with home fries. He described it as "underwhelming," but I suspect it was simply a texture issue; I make my omelettes a bit fluffier and filled to bursting, while Southern Kitchen opts for a thinner, crepe-like style. Despite his mixed feelings about the omelette, the hash browns won his heart, and the coffee was served hot and flavorful--essential for any successful breakfast outing! Value: For two hearty breakfasts and two delightful coffees, the bill tallied up to $31 before gratuity. Average $15 a head. Not bad! Will We Be Back?: Absolutely! With the promise of a succulent egg sandwich, endless piping hot coffee, and stellar service, we're ready to add Southern Kitchen to our lineup. Who could resist that!

You can tell the kitchen cares about ingredients and quality--from the first bite to the last. We ordered the burger, a fresh seasonal salad, and a few selections from their oyster menu, which is now one of my favorites in the area. We also discovered they have a happy hour menu with a great variety of options--definitely coming back to explore more of that. Sassafras strikes the perfect balance between Southern charm and modern dining. Whether you're here for cocktails and oysters or a full dinner, you're in for something special. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious. In order of best/must try: Drink: Bloody Mary: homemade tomato juice and the hint of horseradish was perfection. Food: 1) crab Benedict- crab stuffed cakes with perfectly cooked eggs. The hollandaise sauce was delicious. 2) filet + eggs + grits. The perfect amount of grits that were creamy and delicious. The steak was super tender and eggs, again, cooked perfectly. 3) BLTA salad was super refreshing 4) Chicken + waffle -- it was okay. But take the chicken and add it to the salad-- and that was the perfect combo. Dessert: The Mud Pie was the perfect way to end the meal-- though thoroughly stuffed-- it was a top 5 of mud pies! I didn't realize that Alaina's was a sit-down establishment that just so happened to have a refrigerated glass display of sweet treats, baked goods, and cakes to enjoy on-site or to go. Its aesthetic was a lot classier than I anticipated. I thought it would be more of a diner-type environment, but instead it's much more visually appealing as a dining area with both table and booth seating, serving high-end booze and solid cuisine. I ordered their two-egg sandwich with bacon and fruit, which allowed me to live my best life. It was delicious. Their bacon in particular was magical. The iced coffee black helped me wash it down. Price-wise, it was reasonable. I would need to come back for happy hour and discovered they have dinner as well -- originally thought it was only open through lunch hour. It comes off as much more upscale, especially once you enter the interior. I was impressed by Bruichladdich scotch selections on their liquor shelves, as well as their lovely Belgian beers in stock in the bottom-level fridge and on tap. They have brunch-themed cocktails to enjoy. I'll have to return with the missuses to enjoy more, as I was impressed by what I saw. But I need to try dinner there to confirm my speculation.
