This hotel is lovely and very clean. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom was excellent. Whether you prefer a relaxing bath or a refreshing shower, the choice is yours. Stayed at this hotel for three nights when I was in town for a convention. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The hotel was very clean -- and to the point where I felt comfortable walking around in bare feet, something that is generally not the case at most hotels. The room was very nice. Spacious and well-appointed. It had a very comfy bed, a huge long granite desk/counter that ran the whole length of the room and a very generous bathroom with both a shower and a tub. The conference I was attending was in the hotel, and the staff for events did a very good job. The food was decent, the beverages were plentiful and the coffee was good. I really didn't find myself wanting for very much. I also loved that it's literally half a block from one of the Cleveland Clinic main buildings that has both a Starbucks and a Panera Bread in it. I didn't have to wander far for food and caffeine, so double bonus. A couple of things that made this not five stars: -When I checked in at 5:30 my room was still not ready. The guy at the desk said they'd been sold out the night before and it was taking awhile to turn over rooms. I get it, but at 5:30 there's kind of no excuse. The guy at the desk sensed my frustration, offered me a comped drink at the bar and made sure I got into my room as fast as possible (15 minutes or so). -As I mentioned, I like things really clean. The interior of the hotel was very clean. But outside, when you walked around the side of the building, there was this dripping I'm guessing AC or HVAC unit that was creating this huge rusty brown crud on the outside of the building. It was really gross. I hated walking by it. -I did rent a car one evening and arrived at the hotel at 10 p.m. I wanted to valet park my car and even though there were two guys in the valet office, it took them a good couple of minutes to come out and help me. It wasn't busy. I felt like I interrupted whatever they were doing. -My one and only complaint about my room was the desk chair. It was SO hard to move if you were sitting in it. The wheels would get caught in the carpet and you couldn't slide around easily. It was highly annoying. On the plus side, I was elated to find that the little outlet/plug area in the desk contained a HDMI port that did indeed connect to the TV. I always bring an HDMI cord with me when I travel because I like to watch my own stuff, and I almost always have to try to get it connected in the back of the TV (which is often mounted tightly to the wall). It was so nice to be able to just plug in at the desk. Mega bonus. Housekeeping was great, front desk staff was great. Would definitely return here if I ever had the reason. read more

Exceptionally clean hotel. The hotel is well maintained with a friendly, efficient staff. Room was larger than average which is typical in my experience with Intercontinental hotels. Beds and pillows are a bit hard, but I still found it comfortable. Bathroom was also very clean with separate bath and shower. Soaps and shampoos smell nice, but are on the masculine edge. Plenty of towels provided. Keurig coffee maker in room with Green Mountain coffee pods. Creamer is the cheap, generic powdered crap. No refrigerator in room, but there is a mini bar which is rare these days. My stay was short so I didn't have a chance to experience all the amenities or explore the area surrounding the hotel. It looked pretty deserted to be honest. Table 45, the hotel restaurant, was above average (see my separate review). I'd recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cleveland. read more

Horrible. I was waiting for them to ask for my health insurance card at check in. This hotel is on the Cleveland Clinic campus -- actually shared with a medical office building. God bless those who are here for medical care but if not, stay somewhere else. Smells like a hospital. Lounge is horrible -- lit up like an OR. Fitness "center" is a converted doctor's office complete with nurse station, and cohabitating a floor of procedure rooms. No joke. My room had a stack of unused pillow cases on the bed. Toilet running perpetually. THE loudest metal on metal fan for AC/Heating. Water pressure in the shower is gravity fed at best. Very disappointing. 0 stars is that is an option. read more

this hotel is beautiful and some staff kind, the club lounge is generous with selection, the issue is hotel staff regarding respect for guests with service animals whom are visiting the Cleveland Clinic. we checked in at 10 pm, provided our documentation for ADA service animal; respectfully managed room. We placed a do not disturb on our room and attended our medical appts at early morning for hospital. We did not take our service animal to hospital as today is diagnostics, but we received a very nasty call from hotel mgt stating animals can not be left unattended and housekeeping entered our room. (please not our service animal was safely in bathroom in carrier). If you have a need for service animal and have time commitment at CC Hospital- I highly recommend you select the Residence Inn Marriott which is 5 min walk easy to hospital, very disappointed how staff at Intercontinental deferred to a piece of paper policy to reference how service animals can not be unattended. additionally, the staff was not considering our service animal on record as ADA service and kept calling our animal a pet; again- Marriott is highly more friendly and as we return in future we will be making different arrangements read more

Update: 2:30am currently and I'm wide awake because it's so hot in my room and the AC unit is making the weirdest noises. It's so loud! Miserable experience!!! Maybe I just got a bad room, but the AC keeps cutting off totally and when it's on it's so loud--like something is wrong with it. It's terrible and kept me awake. Also, some gross stains on the bedskirt. I have not had a good nights sleep here and I would not recommend it unless you have a need to be close to the Cleveland Clinic in which case I would recommend solely for convenience. Hotel room feels dirty. Staff is nice, but not able to help with any restaurant recommendations which was surprising as that's a common guest question. Table 45 is pretty good for a hotel restaurant and enjoyed the wine selection. Room service was good/fast. read more

If you are in need of the incredible doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and have to stay for any amount of time, I would highly recommend this hotel. It's connected to the hospital and they provide wheelchairs and will even help you to get to the hospital if need be. The rooms are spacious and the staff very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room amenities were plentiful. Sometimes, it's the little things like razors, shampoo, soap toothbrushes, etc. and being able to just leave a note for room service and it was there when we returned. We were on the Club level where you get breakfast, high tea and hors d'oeuvres. Antoinette and Monica were outstanding!! So very helpful and friendly. Many people would stop by on their way out to thank them for everything and that says it all. They were not there when I was leaving, and I wish I could have thanked them, as I saw so many others do. The food at the hotel was wonderful. We ate at Table 45 and the food was divine and service was excellent! The food on the club level was great, as well. There's a farmers market outside on Wednesdays that I would recommend. It's close vicinity to Little Italy it's also a plus! La Dolce Vita is worth your trip to the charming part of Cleveland from the hotel. read more

This hotel is such a step up from my usual business hotels in other cities. It has nice amenities and is spacious and clean. The staff has been professional. The really nice thing about the hotel is it is directly connected to the Cleveland Clinic via a covered skyway. So you don't have to drive and find parking and all that. The bad thing is the same reason: it is connected to the Cleveland Clinic. So you can hear sirens and even helicopters when they have to airlift patients over here, at night! It sounds like the helicopter is right outside my window and it is past 10pm, at least it is not the middle of the night. Who knows when the next emergency will be though. - No lava in the lava cake but it was still a good cake. read more

Stayed at the Cleveland intercontinental for 1 of 2 booked nights. On day 2, a complete stranger was given a key to my room walked in while I was in bed. Front desk thought it was funny. When my wife ate both of the small chocolates on our bed after a long day in Cleveland, I called the front desk to ask for another. I was told the chocolate was a "one-time thing" and they don't refresh those. I've stayed at a lot of nice hotels and have never had anyone refuse to provide another chocolate. I even had one hotel (the Ritz maybe) bring up a small box of deluxe chocolates when all I asked for was another square or two. Extra chocolate is a nice treat that really builds brand loyalty for a few cents - all you have to do is ask. Back to the Intercontinental Cleveland... they responded like I was asking for a free night or something! I'm paying nearly $400 a night to stay here, and I'm just pissed off about the chocolate. I'm fine with the bathtub faucet barely working, the bathroom fan not working at all, and the rattling above my bed all night. But not getting another chocolate was just annoying. I'm not staying here again if I can avoid it. Update: I called the front desk and told them that I wanted all the problems with my room fixed (yes, it was because I was still upset about the chocolate). So they sent an engineer to my room to fix stuff. He couldn't figure out the small fan, but he fixed the shower head and was really nice. But the bathtub faucet "would take hours to fix", so I just said not to worry about it. But here's the funny thing. When he came up, the concierge also came and brought me a handful of chocolates! I think it was just that the front desk person was terrible. Clearly they had extra chocolates but why the front desk person was being a jerk, I have no idea. My issue seems to be with him, and not the hotel or its policies. My rating goes from 1 star to 3 stars (due to the chocolates!), but it would have been higher if not for one specific apothetic front desk person (well, that plus the bathroom problems). read more

Overpriced. rooms were clean and lobby areas/restaurants are as well. Rooms are comparable to what you get at the Drury Inn but double the cost . Food in the hotel cafe was ridiculously expensive. Everything is ala carte the breakfast buffet is 23$ and everything is stone cold. So not worth it. The server making individual eggs or omelets is extremely slow so could not wait. For what this hotel charges for rooms and food they need to do better to give patrons more value. read more

THEY REUSE THE SHEETS. I saw three rooms all with filthy sheets. (Covered in body oil, hair in them, and the final set -- looked white but smelled like people had slept On them for a week and barfed on them.) Wow were the rooms DIRTY. My hands were covered in dirt from touching the surfaces and the phone. Dust everywhere and trash left in the trash cans. It was disgusting. They clearly don't clean the rooms and just pull the sheets up on the beds and pick up the trash. Don't stay here. Literally, stay at a clean lower star hotel, pay extra to stay at 5 star hotel. Don't sleep on sheets that 5 different guests have slept on without being changed. And have your hands covered in dirt from the room. read more

Stayed here for a sold out Cleveland Indians game on July 8th, all the downtown cleveland hotels were already booked and this was the closest to downtown that honored government discounts so with little research we booked it! I have to say, I don't think it's in the best of areas, the surrounding streets/businesses are labeled with graffiti and a lot of the neighborhoods had vacant buildings with windows busted out etc. so I did get a little nervous. Getting to the hotel, there is valet parking for $28 , or a parking deck across the street that charges you $10 for the night, we opted to park in the deck since we were going to be driving back and forth to downtown. The hotel itself is gorgeous, it was immaculately clean from the moment you walked in, all the way up to the room. We got a double queen bed room, which was very large, the bathrooms are all updated and gorgeous as well. They have room service, a bar, and two restaurants, one upscale and one diner, which sadly we did not get to try because we were only here basically to sleep, but they looked promising. We definitely will stay at this hotel again if we need a room in Cleveland, check in and out process was quick and easy and it was a nice place other than the area it was in. read more

Don't let the candy coat on a shit pill fool ya. Reality is, a Priceline customer (surprise!) gets discriminated on again. Hey, InterContinental, if you hate Priceline that much, DON'T MAKE YOUR ROOMS AVAILABLE THERE. My room was not ready at check-in. Which was pretty normal, I guess, I mean I can be pretty understanding. But when I explained that we had things to do and that we really wanted to be able to rest, otherwise we would not be back till later that night (like after 10 pm). Met with a blank stare. Alrighty then...so we check our bags. Again, I wasn't about to let this cloud my judgment, after all, shit DOES indeed happen. Besides, the valet parking dude, Stephen, was one of the bright spots of the stay. Completely cool, and when I explained, we were just in need of leaving our car for a few minutes to check in and drop our stuff off, he held onto our keys and said it would be no problem to watch it for us. Which is another thing - why no quick parking for those checking in? Do many of your guests just come in, park and not leave? This is Cleveland, most people I suspect drive here...whatevs. So here is why I believe Priceline customers are discriminated against. EUROPEAN TWIN BEDS ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??!?!?!!! I'm here with my husband, not a roommate, and we couldn't even share the bed. Really? Of course, as I mentioned, we came in late after checking in, so we couldn't address these issues up front. Besides, the beds were comfortable, and we just figured, whatever, we'll deal, we're only here one night. So while we're getting ready for bed, I notice a message waiting for us on the phone. I'm thinking: "Oh, how nice, a welcome greeting." Pretty standard for a fancy schmancy hotel. To say it was not what I expected, in fact complete opposite. "Good morning MR. Cooper." (I'm a MS, besides the point, clearly I was a woman checking in) "This is so-and-so from the front desk. We wanted to thank you for choosing InterContinental Hotels." Again, I'm thinking, the next line will probably be, "Please let us know what we can do to make your stay pleasant." Here is the next line. "Can you just let us know when you are planning to check out tomorrow?" Wait, no, seriously. THEY SAID THIS. OK. You assholes didn't have my room ready, force my husband and I to sleep in separate beds, and I have to deal with this BS at 11 pm? I figured, at this time, the person who left the message was no longer there, not to mention, this is in BAD FUCKING TASTE. They may as well just said: "Good evening ma'am, thank you for coming, but when do you plan on leaving???" Oh. But I should have called. InterContinental's Housekeeping take on Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction wouldn't be "ignored," KNOCKED ON MY DOOR AT 9:30 IN THE MORNING. NINE FUCKING THIRTY. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! Then you ask, "When will you be checking out?" You guys were lucky I wasn't having sex with my husband, because clearly the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign was also ignored. I mean, shit, that woulda been HELLA awkward. Besides, I should have just said, "Twelve o'clock, like everyone else." That should suffice. You know what was also ignored? The fact that my goddamn bathroom needed TOILET PAPER. TOILET PAPER PEOPLE. The most basic of items in the bathroom, and I almost had to wipe my ass with a towel. This is a four-star hotel, people. I had to take a roll off Helga the Housekeeper's cart. So yes. You're happy to take my money, but you don't treat me like a customer. Very nice. I'll remember that next time I come to Cleveland. Was here recently for the conference. If you take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, it's about $40. The front desk was lovely. Very easy check in/out. The rooms are nice. In addition to the usual hair dryer and soaps, these rooms come with a razor and tooth brush (some places sell these in their "pantry"). The TV is nice, and there is a good selection of channels. Easy to access room service menu via the TV. You can get wifi, but the internet is better hardwired. If you don't have one, I saw an ethranet cord in a drawer. Not sure if it fits all computers or if they are in all rooms. The event staff was incredible! Very friendly and helpful (which is nice since the conference space is huge!) . Always smiling at us. Very welcoming. If you do have a meeting there, the amphitheaters are all for wired internet use, so don't forget to bring it! The amphitheaters get COLD though. Many of us brought a blanket :-P I thought the food, for hotel conference food, was better than most. We were fed well! Nice tea selection, too. The hotel gift shop is somewhat of a joke though. I was hoping for a "pantry" of sorts with a variety of chips and drinks, but that doesn't exist. The "gifts" is more like a clothing/craft shop....and very expensive. If you are there to visit family in the Clinic, there is skywalk access. If you are there for travel, there aren't many places to walk to. Taxis can be somewhat steep (from the hotel to the Christmas Story house, it was almost $40). The hotel works with Thomas Limousine for airport shuttles back to the airport- they are great! read more

My goodness it was difficult to find a hotel this past month in Cleveland. My colleagues & I needed a total of 3 rooms, but could only find two at the Intercontinental due to a medical conference in town. Fortunately, one of my colleagues was nice enough to share with me. Sharing didn't turn out to be much of an issue because the rooms here are very spacious. And I wish I had a bathroom as nice as theirs back home. The beds were also very comfortable. We didn't have a car during our quick stay here, but I'd get one if I came back. There wasn't much around the hotel besides the hospital and even finding a much needed latte nearby turned out to be challenging. Fortunately, we discovered a Starbucks in the nearby hospital and all was good again in my caffeinated world. read more

2.5 stars, really; but I'm feeling generous today for some reason. The problem with this hotel is that they set the expectations high and then completely fail to deliver. I was here for two days for a business conference. I didn't get to choose the hotel, but when I walked in and saw the shiny lobby and all of the plaques boasting about their 4-diamond awards, I thought I was in for a treat. It was all downhill from there. I reserved a room with a king bed. When I checked in they only had rooms with two small beds. Fine. Whatever. The clerk asked if I wanted one or two keys. I said one. She handed me two keys anyway, but only programmed one of them. What was the point of that? I headed up to my 10th floor room. The room itself was generally fine. It was kind of clean, maybe acceptable for a lower-quality chain (don't look under the bed if fear dirty hotel rooms though). There was a disgusting old pink armchair in the corner (see my photos for reference). It was old and worn out and added zero value to the room. Either get a new one or just get rid of the thing. The bathroom was the best part of the whole room. This is the only thing about the hotel that met the 4-diamond expectations. The conference center was fine. As good as plenty of others I've been to. Maybe it's top-notch by Cleveland standards, I have no idea. But the killer was that they wouldn't allow drinks in some of the meeting rooms. As someone who has organized conferences myself, I can tell you that if you try to pry the coffee from peoples' weak, uncaffeinated hands, all hell can break loose. If it were my conference, this could have been a deal breaker. Location is pretty abysmal unless you have business at the Cleveland Clinic. There was virtually nothing worthwhile within walking distance. I would have much preferred to stay downtown, but again, not my call. Not the worst hotel where I've ever stayed, but I wouldn't stay here again if I had a choice. read more

Wife and I just ate there. Took an hour to get our meals! She had the scallop dinner ($32), which consisted of 2(two) scallops, ONE piece of asparagus , some bacon bits and a few mushrooms on top of undercooked pasta. I got the salmon. There is nothing luxurious about this Intercontinental hotel. Don't be mesmerized by the marbled entry and fancy flower arrangements in the lobby -- that's where the "luxury" begins and ends. We stayed here for three long weeks and regretted most of our days here. Our ac needed fixing, blowing hot air on an unbearably hot summer day. Water was dripping from the ceiling vent onto the carpet. When it did work, it was LOUD. Trauma helicopters landed on the hospital roof next door at all times of the day and night, sounding like a MACK truck was coming through the room. (Our room was on the west side of the hotel, nearest the hospital). The only relief we got from this was during inclement weather when the helicopter flights were temporarily paused. Over our three week stay the room was cleaned three times, with the bed sheets being changed only once, and only after I made a specific request with the front desk to have them changed. We were told our room would be cleaned every 3 days, but it was not. I even double-checked with the front desk to confirm my room cleaning schedule, and despite their assurances, it wasn't cleaned on schedule. When I complained at the end of a scheduled day that my room wasn't cleaned, they didn't apologize, but simply told me the room would be cleaned the following day with an "oh well" attitude. It was very often not cleaned the following day either. This is totally unacceptable for what is supposed to be a luxury hotel, and was beyond disappointing. The front desk staff is rude and indifferent at best. There was often a long wait to talk to someone in person at the front desk, and I was always greeted, never with a smile, but with an excuse for the ridiculously long wait to speak to them. "It's a holiday weekend and we are short staffed." "We have a wedding going on today and so we are very busy." I was alway made to feel I was bothering them, that they were very busy and harried over more important matters. Residence Inn by Marriott, 2 blocks away, was a much nicer hotel, more modern, and with a very friendly front desk staff. I never once passed by their front desk without a friendly "Good morning" or "Good evening." At the Intercontinental, there was often a man in a blazer and name tag wandering about the lobby and front entrance who never once greeted me, even while looking me in the eye, as I came and went daily. Completely classless. Let's face it, if you're in Cleveland to be seen at the CC, you're not on vacation. Never once while I was staying at the Marriott did I feel that my hotel stay was compounding the stress of my visit. I have quite the opposite feelings for the Intercontinental. The ONLY redeeming quality of this hotel is its proximity to the Cleveland Clinic. Having said that, the stress and extra anxiety we experienced resulting from this inadequately managed hotel is not worth its convenience. We will be returning to the CC in the future, and won't be staying at the Intercontinental again. read more

My stay at the InterContinental Cleveland was nothing less than splendid. The event spaces, hotel rooms, and decor of the hotel was very pleasing aesthetically. The venue encompasses a very clean and bright look, with artistic portraits peppered throughout for an additional touch. The staff was also very hospitable and service oriented. I was always met with a smile, a friendly demeanor, and timely solution each time I interacted with someone in the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and commodious, and nearly every amenity imaginable is available sans swimming pool. The event spaces were also exemplary and hi tech and proved to be a great location to conduct sessions. There's not really too much in the immediate area besides the hospital campuses, so you may have to travel 10 mins to find any adventure but besides that, I'd recommend this place to anyone!!! read more

While the front desk is cordial, and the concierge responsive, for the price it is disappointing that I had to call housekeeping for towels, to empty the waste baskets and take away used glasses. They only cleaning rooms every three days. Understandable if staff is low, but I've seen housekeeping on the floor everyday and no one checking in to see if we needed TP. Which we did. The restaurant, Table 45, is awesome. Dinner food is delicious, though I had to make two calls this morning for the room service breakfast that showed up cold and without part of the order. Nice hotel but I'll never stay again. Signed up for the reward program in my last stay and IHG linked my email and phone with someone else's credit card and address. I discovered the problem when I almost swiped to book a room and stopped because the last four numbers of the card didn't look familiar. Checked the profile and that's Not Me. Wrong address, state, and it's not my card. Obviously, I (the Real Me) didn't want to charge Not Me for my reservation, and I wondered who had my name, address and credit card number. Real Me called the hotel, explained the issue, and the operator sent me to reservations. Reservations had no idea what to do and promised the next person would know . . . This happened six times and started an hour long international phone odyssey that left Real Me shocked at the ineptitude of IHG and its reward program. Each time IHG employees passed me off it was with assurance that the reward program and/or fraud prevention would fix it. Instead, each time I got staff who tried to re-define the problem into something simple, like trying to join to accounts--putting Real Me and Not Me on the same account. (Real Me: No, that's not the issue. That's a whole different Not Me person . . .) Or this one: since my phone and email address came up in the computer as Not Me, Real Me is mistaken and I'm actually Not Me. Circular reasoning at its finest--its in the computer so it must be correct. (Real Me: No, I'm not taking the computers word that I'm actually Not Me in a different state where I never lived with a credit card I don't recognize). Really. That happened. Or this one: it's not IHG's problem. I should call the credit card company and change my address. So Real Me should call Not Me's credit company. (Real Me: how can I do that if I don't know Not Me's company, and it's not my card . . .) Or this: Since I stayed at the hotel I should pay my bill. (Real Me: what are you talking about?) Or this: How did Real Me discover it was Not Me's card? Real Me: tried to book a room using the app. Call center: how did you get Not Me's card? Real Me: face palm. Called the hotel and left a message because there's no manager working. I've spent now 90 minutes trying to help Not Me and protect Real Me from fraud. Seems like I'm the only one who cares about that, and I can't trust my personal information to a company that inept. Never again. read more

The hotel was not as nice as I'd expect for the brand but I realized that I was not the demographic since I wasn't there for the clinic (which is attached to the hotel). Most guests were in walkers or wheelchairs or were waiting on informed loved ones. Many guests had at least a colostomy bag or an oxygen tube. This was easy to shake off when in the lobby but not when visiting the hotel restaurant or the club room. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this place has zero relaxing getaway vibe.
