    Opening Weekend of Ashland location
    Arcadia S.

Opening weekend at this fun barcade style pizzeria & bar, we had to check it out on an impromptu date night. We weren't sure what to expect so we ate before we came. The menu offered a slice of vegan cake which was a nice treat to go with our hard cherry cider. Plain tots are on the menu as another vegan option. I asked the staff if the pizza could be made vegan by holding the cheese and it turns out the flatbread it's made with isn't vegan. That's okay tho; we were really here for the skee ball & pinball . They have plenty of other games including Burger Time - my all time fave. Staff is friendly & responsive. Decor is mostly iconic movie posters. The ladies room was clean and tidy w cute old posters as well. The lighting was brighter than I expected and there are no classic arcade cabinets as of now. Our adult son was in town he stopped by to join us for a few games. For a bar, the costumer base on this Saturday night were more families-with-little-kids than anticipated, but that's fine w me I still have four kids at home -I'll bring them at some point, too. We enjoyed ourselves and will return. Yes: kid friendly Yes: vegan friendly

Intermission Beer Company is a little gem, it is between Home Depot and Green Top. A truly family friendly vibe. Good beer, awesome flatbread and games galore. If you want a little patio action, they also have a lovely patio with colored umbrellas for a perfect fall afternoon. Dog friendly patio! The staff and owners are awesome! Give Intermission a try!

Unfortunately, they miss big on depth of flavor. We ordered a few different items on the menu and almost all of them feel short when it came to the flavor profile. The star of the show was the maple potato wedges . They were cooked perfectly and coated with a sugary season blend.

We opted to sit indoors but near the patio, so there was a nice cross breeze. I ordered the popcorn to start and my mom ordered pretzel bites. Both were very good, and I was impressed with the amount of popcorn that arrived. So much! My mom ordered the wake n bacon and I ordered the rancher omelet. My mom raved about her meal, but I could barely stomach the omelet. It was SO bland. I immediately let our server know, and she let me swap for something else. I asked for the muffalletta, but they were out of stock, so instead I ordered the wake n bacon. I wouldn't rave about it like my mom did, but it was much better than the omelet. If I'm in Ashland, I'd consider a return trip sometime to try more of their menu. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly.

The place was moderately busy at the time we went! They were out of a couple beers on tap, so we opted for the sweet tea. The sweet tea wasn't sweet at all but we got it remade, although the sweetness was a bit weak! Our shrimp came out dry and a bit over cooked! The bologna burger has a huge thick asymmetrical cut of bologna with burning on the middle sides! I loved my reuben, mac and cheese, and onion rings though! Those were a hit. Beer pretzel was great! The cheese was a bit thick and had a film on top, but once you mixed it up it and put the film to the side, the cheese was normal! Next time i'd try a beer on tap and definitely get the mac and cheese again!

Turned out to be a good decision! Piggy's appears to be a pretty standard neighborhood grille and sports bar, serving sandwiches, salads, burgers, and a few other items along with a full complement of beers and mixed drinks. A lot of people were addressed by name while I was there, so clearly popular with the locals. Regardless, I got excellent service and was treated just as friendly as anyone else while sitting at the bar. Wanting to make things quick, I ordered a pair of hot dogs with chili, slaw, mustard, and onions. They have a lot of sides to choose from, but the bartender highly recommended the fries. My food came out quickly, and I was immediately taken aback at how big the hot dogs were! I have never seen a more loaded hot dog in my life. First of all, the frank looked like an all beef quarter pounder, and the bun was loaded to the brim with chili, slaw, onions. Had to be careful eating them, and a lot of the toppings spilled off, which made a nice topping for the fries. Great taste, the slaw is the kind I like, not much mayo. Chili was maybe a little cumin heavy, but I the buns were buttered and I really enjoyed the hot dogs overall. The fries though, they didn't steer me wrong. Honestly, some of the best french fries I have ever encountered. They are that slightly battered kind, crispy outside, tender inside, but they had a perfect blend of seasoning on them... and there were a lot of them. I have never struggled to eat a 2 hot dog combo in my life, but this one really filled me up. I did get a ranch to go with it, and this was the only disappointment, tasted like Kraft ranch. Maybe the craze over ranch ends at the VA line. All in all, this was an excellent road lunch stop. Definitely left full and ready to face the rest of my drive. Thanks for the distraction Piggys!

Most of the games are well-maintained and fun to play, which is a heck of an accomplishment when most of the games are as old as I am. I did get somewhat annoyed that my kiddo and I had sat at the bar when nobody was there so we could eat and drink and then we left our drinks on the bar since we were still drinking and they were very cold. We came back a few minutes later and sat back in the seats with our drinks and the new bartender told us that my kiddo couldn't sit there since it was 21 and older only. Okay, that's annoying, but we grabbed our sodas and moved to the table beside the bar, BUT THEN a dad and his kid come up and sit at the bar... and she serves them without chasing them off... So... apparently it's only SOME 12 year olds can't sit at the bar with their parents? Or maybe only the ones whose parents are drinking cocktails and not ones who are drinking diet sodas and eating fries? Also, the bar is HUGE and it is not at all crowded on a random weekend afternoon. And even though there are tables and cup holders near every gaming station, my kiddo has ASD and he is a wanderer, so we left our food and drinks at our table, and they change bartenders about every two hours, so our table got bussed by the new bartender and we had our almost entirely full basket of funnel cake fries and drinks thrown away. The sodas got remade, which was nice, but also... that's like $8 out of $11 worth of funnel cake fries that got tossed. Not like we can walk around with those at the small gaming tables. So I wish there was a little "I'm still gaming, please don't throw away my food." Coaster or something you could put on the table so they know not to waste your food. Or avoid ordering greasy bar food unless you can eat it all in one sitting, which... isn't always easy. I would absolutely come back and play the heck out of the games. I would just probably eat first next time.
