Again, 2 kids came out, changed out bottom peephole, used a ton of caulking and actually took the liberty to cut the wood out in odd little squares. I have been trying to get them back to fix the mess for weeks. The guy I have talked to is arrogant and condescending. Such a bad experience with Homestar, Milgards windows are great, Homestar installation, etc is not. At 71, I do not deserve to be treated like this, sick to my stomach, just hire some competent help and remember who you are working for, the customer.​​​​​​​

I called Jesus with We Care and he was easy to work with our schedule and come out to assess the situation. He climbed through our attic and went atop our roof to get a great look at what the problem would be. His assessment of the situation was FREE and he gave great advice on how to fix this easy problem. He took video and pictures of everything in the attic and on the roof so I could see exactly what he was seeing. That was most helpful. We chose Legacy because it is a local, independent business and he did a wonderful job on our first project, a storage shed for our backyard. The price he quoted was reasonable and fair. The final price was close to the original quote. However, the project took twice as long to complete. Nevertheless, as we saw the progress of the project and the high quality of work being done, we became less concerned about the timeline of completion. We are extremely pleased with the aesthetics of our new living space. More importantly, we watched the construction of Michael's work. He was cognitive of cost, yet he never compromised on the quality and workmanship. Shortly after the job was completed, we had our HVAC technician come in to clean our furnance. The firt thing he said was, "Wow, what a beautiful floor!" Everyone that walks into our basement mentions how beautiful everything turned out. The bathroom with a full size walk-in shower looks far more expensive than it actually cost. We are extremetly pleased with Legacy Doors and More and the subcontractors that Michael hired for the plumbing and electrical work.

Complaints against Legacy Windows Deceptive Sales Tactics…read more* Told that trim would be replaced by like trim in event it was broken--company only had MDF upon installation. * Not informed that the transition on the floor was not part of the install. * Told that sliding doors would have security lock on bottom and not just on the handle * Told sliding doors would be easy to open * Told we were a "promotional" house and would get a discount if we made a decision on the spot. No before-and-after pictures or reviews were ever procured from us as originally stated in the sales pitch. Substandard Work Quality * No post install inspection. This alone could account for a lot of the problems. There's not an eye for detail or quality. * Many sills and windows visibly bowed * Some windows have gaps at corners of screen due to bowing where bugs can get in * Clear caulk used shows gaps & bowing clearly * Caulk tracked on floor in home * Broken wood trim left and not replaced * Wood trim replaced with MDF * Where some wood trim was removed, installers used our own personal wood to replace without paying us for the wood * Some sills stick awkwardly far into the room or stick tackily past existing trim blocking furniture, blinds, etc. Installers just stuck in sills without any thought or asking about preferences. * Bulges of plastic and other imperfections left on windows along with globs of caulk on glass that needed to be cleaned. * Had to sand sills ourselves, otherwise the edges would be sharp and tacky. * Gaps in installed wood had to be filled in with wood paste, left to us to do that. * Difficult-to-remove non-warranty and non-informational stickers left on windows for us to figure out how to remove. Broken Windows * One sliding door is so sticky and hard to open that the wife needs both hands & full weight to open. In the event of an emergency children would not be able to open the sliding door to escape. * One window is crooked and gets stuck at the last inch when closing (which has pinched and injured fingers). This window cannot pull out for cleaning as advertised because it is too tight in the frame. Evasive Customer Service * Forced to pay day of installation and sign paper that said all windows in working order despite being told that we were not to open the windows for at least 24 hours * Installer repeatedly blamed our old house and detail-oriented nature for window problems instead of fixing them (note that half the windows replaced previously had retrofit windows, which did not have the bowing problems listed above) * Installer came out to install a missing screen. We had a number of things we wanted him to look at. Instead he bolted without talking to us (stating we might not have been home, but there was no attempt to talk to us). He should have been given a list of things we wanted looked at, so either there's bad communication or purposeful incompetence. * Repeated requests to talk to a manager/owner were ignored. It appears the warranty is worth nothing if Legacy Windows will not even come and replace broken windows upon installation. Update: After successfully holding back 25% of the payment through the credit card company nearly two months after installation, the company sent out another team to "fix" things. This team seemed more competent than the first and replaced some caulk, squirted the equivalent of WD-40 in the sliding door to make it slide a little easier, fixed the bowing of a couple of windows, and somewhat fixed the window that was getting stuck when closing. At this point there was not much that could be done for anything else and we didn't really want the windows ripped out again to put in flat sills, etc. We have no desire to ever deal with this company again and we are warning others of our horrible experience so you hopefully don't end up in the same situation.

Today I entered the store Looking for a piece of glass for my picture frame. One of the shop workers (big brown cowboy hat) was helping a customer. I was patient. I waited. After about 20 minutes she finally acknowledged that I was waiting indicating that she would be right with me. I waited another 10 minutes and then thought maybe I should go wash my car and when I come back maybe it would be more convenient for her. I came back, entered the store, and she was just finishing up with another customer. I stood at the front desk and again waited for just a few minutes when another employee asked if I was being helped. When I said no, the lady and the big cowboy hat told her "I know," The customer she was finishing up with left the store. Then the store worker started tidying up the front desk, putting things away and organizing things here and there. I just didn't have the patience for that. While I think I am generally patient and especially with our local businesses, there was something very much lacking in that customer service interaction today.

This damage has caused electrical issues in my vehicle, as water is now leaking onto the passenger side floor. As a result, my electronics shut off randomly while driving. When we took the car back to the shop, the representative we spoke with denied any responsibility. They even claimed it was either my fault or caused by a previous windshield replacement. However, we haven't replaced the windshield in at least three years. Not to mention, since when does the average person--like myself--remove all the trim around the windshield and start tampering with things? Short answer: I don't. They did something to redirect the water from leaking into my car, when we took it back in, but it didn't work. Now my car is completely ruined. They don't stand by their work, and I'm left needing to buy a new vehicle. They don't care! Do not go here unless you want them to damage your car to the point where water seeps into the electronics and ruins everything. They will not stand by the work they do and are now costing me thousands of dollars.

He required 70% down towards the $33,500.00 bid before he would start work. Standard is 50%, and when we questioned that he had all the answers. Said he isn't a bank and doesn't have thousands of dollars in his account to cover costs of labor and materials due to being a new business. He sold himself on being licensed and insured, a great communicator, dependable, a member of the National guard, and that he hires the best subcontractors. He did have the best subcontractors, that was the only true part. Tim seemed great the first couple of weeks. He spent three days at our home doing demo and hauling out trash. The only other day he spent a significant amount of time at our home was to frame, that was the second week. After that we rarely saw him. The plumber did some work, the electric has been completed to allow for the drywall sub to come in and complete his work. We know the plumber has not been paid at all. The electrician is still owed $3800. Tim asked for a progress payment on 3/31/26 for the dry wall sub for $2150. When we asked where the $22,000 was spent he said the flooring was $5,000. He had to pay the electrician the $9,800 up front. He had to buy the doors, paint, and pay the plumber. He said he only paid the drywall sub half. Which we know was only $2,500. The drywall sub worked from 8:30 to 7:30 M-F for a month including one Saturday. Tim picked up a check on April 6th for the $2,150. He gave the drywall sub a check for $2,150 from his account post dated to April 7th and it was $700 less than what he was owed. That check did not clear. Tim gave the sub a bad check that still hasn't cleared as of 4/10/26. Our check did clear, but I had put a stop payment on it the morning of 4/7, the bank fraud department is investigating and will inevitably be returning the money from that check. The morning Tim picked up that check he said a worker would be here to finish priming, he would come hang doors on 4/8/26 and paint. The plumber would be there to finish too. Nobody showed up to prime that day and from then on calls and texts to Tim went unanswered. We heard back from him the morning of the 8th. He sent a text and an email explaining that he will not finish the job. He is closing his company and going bankrupt due to cash flow problems. We do know he was having issues with another job that went wrong. He also has spent money on wrapping a piece of shit work truck to advertise and wrapping his warehouse door. A company going bankrupt doesn't spend money of those things. After talking to his lawyer that took two days to return a phone call. His lawyer had not spoken to him at all that week and knew of no dispute. He had only helped Tim set up the business. We have talked to other clients that he is working for and they did not receive the same message about the closing of his business. He is still in contact with them and communicating as if he is going to finish. He also only took 50% down payment from them. Not 70%. These projects started before ours. He has threatened the drywall sub to stay away from jobs he hasn't started yet or he will turn him in for not being licensed and insured. Tim hired this person months ago knowing this and has had him complete other jobs. He is making threats because he hasn't paid him and he doesn't want him telling new prospective customers that he is a thief and a fraud. It is 4/11/26. Our basement is incomplete and Tim has been paid for more than 70% of the job. We do not have any paint or flooring in our possession. The doors did get delivered on 4/9. He has lied through the entire process. He is a snake in the grass and the worst contractor ever! Worst experience ever! DO NOT HIRE HIM!!! Any review you see that is positive would have been from his first customer because the rest of us are NOT happy with him or his work. Since writing this review, I have been contacted by other unhappy customers. This business may show permanently closed, but I assure you Tim is still out working on projects and actively robbing people.
