I went in today with my adult foster son to try to get his past tax refunds. Good news is he was successful in getting his 2 checks (lady claimed up to 9 weeks to receive in the mail). Here's the not-so great part of our appointment: the older Vietnamese lady who assisted us has a sharp accent that is difficult to understand, and can appear as if she is not listening very well cuz she's on her keyboard and screen. I've been waiting on my amended return for over 30 weeks. Every time I call, it tells me to call back because they are too busy. Even trying to make an appointment they tell me they are too busy to call back later. The two times I did get through I was waiting on hold for two hours. Each time they told me they needed an additional 30 days. Here we are 30 weeks later and an additional 60 days later, and I still have not been able to get through to anybody, nor have I received any updates. read more

I went twice, because the first one agent, that suppose to accept my tax return( that isn't the same then process it) after the IRS sent me a letter telling that I need to do an amend because the website had a glitch and it didn't process all my pictures IDs, and also they forgot that after that incident, they sent my another letter telling that I need to wait for instructions, where that letter never arrived, this agent just submitted it without be diligent about it, so after 3 weeks, I went again because it was rejected , and this agent found the mistake from the other agent, fixed it and made another one that I caught on the fly, still told me that was no mistake, and I did it my way and it works. After 2 years of many agents over the phone and supervisors, (like everyone knows) is upon to the person that is handling you, this last lady told me, that she was able to see all my file, where I asked to be audit 3 times and they never did it, the asked me for 5 years of proof, and I provided 15, 3 times, because the first time they never received any thing and the second time they send it by error to the wrong IRS address to be processed, lucky me! I sent it 3 times, and all certified right? So she saw the mistake, verified the proof I provided by they request, corrected, accepted, submitted and approved in less then 30 minutes. Now I work every day with them, and I can see the horrors of lack of training that could be solve with the interest of the agent, if they want to help. No wonder they never answer the phone. This just remind me a tiktok video about the mother sued by teacher's union for curriculum. Where she asked about it and wasn't available online or school district, so they told her that contact them via public records requests, until she become an agenda for them for lack of answers, and they sued her because were contacted via public records requests, when they told her to contact them via public records requests. read more

And while I know the IRS is generally good at peeing in all of our cheerio bowls...I will say that this particular location really helped me out today. I can't get into too much specifics obviously but I *desperately* needed a letter for the SBA and couldn't wait 12-16 more weeks. Luckily, one of the agents was able to make this happen for me, and was really understanding and empathetic about my situation. Came here for a tax transcript. Waited for 2 hours. Outside. In the sun. After standing outside with everyone else for 40 minutes, someone comes out saying that they're not guaranteeing that they'll see all of us. Well then, I might as well just leave and come back early another time. As for parking - wherever you park, you're going to have to pay regardless. I recommend not parking in the lot since it's $1 for 20 minutes. Park on the street where there are meters. Depending on the meter, some charge 25 cents for 15 minutes, $1 for an hour. Others might be a bit more or less, but it's for sure cheaper than parking in the lot. read more

Horrible experience. Patiently waited for 6 hours to speak to someone on July 10, 2013 with nothing to show for it other than heartache. The IRS agent, A. Nguyen, asked inappropriate questions regarding the birth and death of my daughter. After finding out that my baby girl was born premature, Ms. Nguyen stated that she was not a real baby as she was not yet 8 months. She then asked if she was born with a head and body. After repeatedly stating that she was, in fact, a real baby - a beautiful one delivered via c-section who lived for 2 hours and is now buried in Corona del Mar, Ms. Nguyen finally got back to work. None of these questions had anything to do with the matter at hand. In the end, she couldn't help me, but I was more upset by the questions she had asked. I don't think it's normal to ask a bereaved mother if her baby was born with all of its body parts. I filed a complaint with the supervisor, but have yet to hear anything back. Customer service there sucks, but the security guard was nice. As far as the wait goes - I got there 30 minutes before they even opened and there were already about 40 people in line ahead of me. Even getting there early, I still waited 6 hours (for a totally shitty experience). The maximum amount for parking is $20. Bring cash. read more

So I had an appointment at 1:30pm 6/15/21. When I arrived at 1:10pm there were already too many people in the waiting area so they told me to come back at 2:15. It was hot outside, but I didn't want to miss my appointment so I just waited right outside on a bench. Around 2 they asked everyone waiting to form a line outside and then eventually let people in the building lobby. I think it wasn't until 3 that I was able to enter the IRS office lobby. It is a federal building so as expected you are screened for weapons or explosive. Normally this process is just annoying, but the security officer was very thorough and his instructions were clear. He took his job seriously, but wasn't rude or impersonal to each individual. Around 3:30 I finally was able to talk to the tax help guy. Then I was told to come back the next day with a copy of my last 2 tax returns. I was not happy about that, but the tax person helping me gave me a pass so I wouldn't have to wait In line when I got there. So I started work at 5am to be able to get back to the IRS office the next day. When I arrived I showed my pass, & I didn't have to wait at all. The same security remembered I was there the day before, and was just as nice, but still thorough. ( have to say the best experience I have ever had anywhere when going through security checks). Sorta wish I had a reason to go back to the IRS office again just to go through security, but sadly I don't everything was resolved on day two. Until next time. read more

My husband and I had much better civility from the IRS than any other federal government offices including the cad-like DMV.* * In 2013 when we moved here to Virginia from Delaware, we had to go to update our driver's license and whatnot at a DMV office near Braddock Road. A petty and greedy DMV Africana female swiped my G&D special logo, cute and tiny money clipper off my passport. I saw it and waited to see if and when she would put it back. [Yes, I did want to test another human being if she was whole or sub-being.] This DMV female, [--no she was NOT a lady--a lady does NOT steal, period.--] pretended to be jibber-jabberring to me, while pulling out the clipper off my passport for no reasons except that she wanted it. She never placed it back onto my passport and I have been telling friends and people I know ever since THAT how petty, conventionally greedy and corrupted a DMV employee could be. What goes around, should come around to that female employee. Back to the IRS, my husband bought some Shell stocks and then later sold them -- where the overseas/European stocks automatically deducted the TAX amount when one sold the stocks. Then some times in 2016 throughout 2017, the IRS falsely claimed that we did not pay tax after selling our Shell stocks. My husband tried to explain that the tax amount - - - unlike stocks in the US had ALREADY been deducted/taken off - - - to no avails I even called the IRS office in Philadelphia and the staff there were quite civilized. But in terms of concrete help, it did not amount to anything The IRS kept hounding us and my husband eventually just sent them another check to get rid of this silly hounding. Guess what? after the IRS received this very check, someone much more knowledgeable about stocks from overseas and their procedures, decided that we had indeed paid the tax after selling; so he or she returned our check. Thank you kindly- & quite decent of that IRS personnel to figure out and return a check --- of double pay on the same stocks sold--- to us. I truly wish the IRS would be hounding somewhere else**, but it is their job to be suspicious and double check on fellow citizens. Most of the time we don't want to be dealing with any federal government unless it is an absolute necessity **For instance, how come a tree service company in Culpeper, Virginia called Eddie's Tree Services insisted that a check be addressed to Eddie Arias*** and NOT to Eddie's Tree Services as was described on their call card? They demanded another check. *** I accidentally discovered that Arias was NOT even the last name of Eddie Arias Suarez, who owns this Eddie's Tree Service company in Culpeper, Virginia -- go figure.. read more

They made me wait in line only to tell me they wouldn't see me. I happen to Walk in to Santa Ana IRS today to get information how to get the transcript. Instead getting any info, asked stupidest questions like why took this long, where we're you etc.. First question he asked is is he your husband Nothing to do with getting transcript. He had chips on his shoulder looks like. He was arrogant. The worse part is that he talked to me like I didn't understand English. Very simple question "how to get transcript " He told me to get an translator. He definitely discriminated us. I've had the misfortune of having to miss work FOUR times to return to this hell hole on separate occassions! The wait time is unforgiving and the staff are cut throat! I was cut off mid sentence on a question I had by the receptionist as they called "neeeext!" I understand there's only so much they can answer or assist me with but c'mon let me finish my sentence! The security guard is rude and somewhat of a bully... I was told that I owed $501 because I hadn't filed a previous employer w2 from 2013. I was trying to get a better understanding as to why was I being charged since the statue of limitations to file for that year had not been up. I couldn't seem to get an answer, just mumbling, and an "oh well" attitude. I'm really at a loss as to why anyone would complain about this office!!! I was happy the first time I came here now today I came back with my husband. We'd tried to make an appointment but weren't able to, so we showed up without one. The security guard informed everyone they wouldn't be seeing anyone without an appointment today. Knowing that we needed to get paperwork for a deadline and today was our ONLY chance, I asked to be able to speak the IRS rep at the check in desk. I was allowed to do so. The clerk was a very nice and helpful gentleman who heard our request and set us up to see someone. Less than 15 minutes later we had the paperwork we needed and were out the door!!! I came here on a friday to get my transcripts because, of course, online was unavailable. Arrived at 8am and there was already a line 20 ish people long before they opened at 8:30. They let in 10 people at a time. I had got in around 10:30. There were only 2 out of 12 desks open. I wasn't helped for another hour because 1 of the 2 people left for like a half hour before coming back. Cost me $10 for parking, $1 every 20 minutes. Sucks. read more

The wait for the IRS is ridiculously long. Approaching the deadline for Financial Aid, everyone is in desperate need of a tax transcript for the FAFSA. For me personally, the line was so long and the place is so understaff. I had to wait 3 hours to get a transcript that took 5 minutes to look up and print. I appreciate that the staff were trying to be helpful by organizing the line so that eveyrone gets a chance to go in. And I appreciate that the staff are geniuninely concern for the people waiting outsife in the heat. But i just think the establishment is poorly understaffed and unorganized. read more
