I've been shopping at this International Market for several years. The staff here are very friendly and happy to help you find what you need or something new to try. I often buy bulk roasted squash seeds here (they have a variety of different types, not just pumpkin), baklava, canned sardines, jerky, hot sauces, and apricot seeds (which are hard to find other places!) They also have a huge tea selection, and a counter for hot food sales, including authentic kabob plates with rice and salad. The market is hidden in the back of a small plaza and easy to miss, but definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and you know to look for it! read more

The Chapli Kabob meal here was bland. You're better off going to the restaurant called Chopan Kabob which is a little down the way. Their beef chaplee kabob cost more but the quality you get -- it tastes way better and juicier. More flavorful. read more

This is an amazing store which has all the middle eastern supplies to make all the delicious meals we could ever want. Called up to see if they had the roasted eggplant in the large cans. They looked around and said they had the large jars then called back a minute later to say they found 6 of the large cans. They read me the ingredients from the label and told me the size of the cans- super happy to help me. When we arrived we were so glad to see aisles and shelves of fully stocked spices, rices, canned and jarred goods, refrigerated items, frozen foods, french feta, olives etc etc etc They gave us boxes and packed our items carefully and offered to carry them to the vehicle. We catered from here for our son's birthday, and from the moment I spoke with the restaurant, to when we picked up the food, everything was handled with great customer service and professionalism. As for the food, EVERYONE at the party loved it and especially couldn't stop talking about the beef shami! My husband and I were so busy with the party that we were only able to eat the food when we got home and warmed up the leftovers... and everyone was right, the shami was one of the best we've ever had. The rice and chicken kabob were also very good and I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to cater. Prices and quantity were more than fair so I hope they continue to keep this standard up because we will definitely be using their service again in the future. read more

I just purchased a couple of things from them...roughly 35 mins. ago. One was a box of frozen kebab and spices. I arrived home and opened the frozen kebab package only to realize that plastic of one package was cut open in the middle and there were missing pieces and others were burn (fried???). The box was sold as new. But it is apparent that someone opened the box, tasted and perhaps did not like this food and put it back into the cut open pouch and re-glued the box that looked like new/unopened. Now, I am afraid to even open the other package with kebabs fearing someone messed with this food. Wasted money. This is really NOT COOL! I will not be returning to this place. read more

Great variety of spices but the store smelled like cigarette smoke. Gross. Cashier also didn't provide receipt.

The ambiance is take out only. Very nice friendly service. There are two sides. You pay for hot food at once counter and the grocery store party you pay at a different which are right next to each other. The food is REALLY good. The bolani was my absolute fav in a long time. Their meat is cooked right with lots of flavor. I could have used more veggie salad mix but that's just my personal preference. This is crappiest store you can visit. I bought a steamer from this place, after using it once it got holes on the bottom of the pan. I threw it away. Next time I went again and bought another one, so I told the owner about my problem, and she said it shouldn't happen, bring it back if that happens again, just make sure you keep the receipt. I did bring it back, but now she said it was used I cannot take it back. Some people are mentally not ok. Will never go back to that place and would not recommend to anyone either. read more

Went there for the first time to get some ingredients for a special Father's Day dessert for my husband. This bald creepy looking guy was walking around the store leering at women and every time he passed by me, he would touch my ass. At first I thought it might of been accidental but then he did it for the third time it while I was paying for my stuff. I yelled at him and told him to stop it and that I was going to get my husband to come in to whoop his ass. The old guy at the register (possibly the owner) did nothing. Instead, he was shaking "no" to me as if telling me to be quiet. I come in with a smile and the old man and lady have this depressing look I don't get a hi or anything. Disgusting group of people. Was getting smogged at the gas station right in front of International Foods so I thought I'd stop in and check out the merchandise. Is it just me or are there a lot of Persians in Concord? It's interesting watching this neighborhood change. Anyway, the basic Persian staples seemed to be present in a well organized fashion. The meat did look a little suspect though. This is where all of my family (aunts, uncles, sisters, etc.) come to get our fresh and hot Afghan bread. $2 for today's and $1 for yesterdays. I went today and they had a BBQ going out front. Looked like they had livers, chicken, beef, and lamb all ready to go. I wish I hadn't eaten lunch so I could've dove into that liver off the barbie. Usually I allot time as it takes a while to get your order placed (accurately) and get the food but this was really frustrating and disappointing. I love this place, their bread is honestly amazing. I have been to many halal markets and this is one if my favorite. I've been going since the store opened and it feels like your part of a group. The same people have been working their and they always treat you like you're part of their family. Whenever someone isn't their they always ask about them and make sure their ok! Wonderful people at the register. I always feel welcome here. I love the prices and the bread is inexpensive and delicious. Yesterday it was still hot in the bag so I had to tear off a piece and eat it on my way home. I've been coming to this market for over a decade now to pick up all kinds of items to make a great appetizer tray to go with their fresh baked Afghan naan bread. I had a big surprise on Sunday when I discovered they sub-lease out their kitchen to a business (11am-6:30pm) that makes Peruvian rotisserie chicken, empanadas, alfajores, tamales and salchipapas. I live in Walnut Creek and am regularly on the search for the labne variant, Tzatziki, produced by the Karoun Dairies in SoCal. It is a delicious product that I find difficult to find a reliable nearby source for, I recently shopped nearly a dozen Mediterannean markets in one day, because I am obsessed, before finally finding the product here at International Foods). I normally would be reluctant to give any market 5 stars for having a single product on their shelves but when you've shopped a dozen markets to find that one product, reluctance bows to gratification and convenience. read more

I purchased a can of french feta cheese at this market, as I have in the past almost every week. This time, when I opened the can the cheese was yellow with a rancid smell and taste to it. I returned to the store, thinking they would exchange this uneaten and spoiled product as I am a regular customer. Instead, the owner proceeded to yell at me and telling me nothing was wrong with the cheese. I offered for him to taste and/or smell it, but of course he declined and was extremely rude. I guess the idiom, the customer is always right, is not one that the owners of International Foods subscribe to. There are many more markets in the Sacramento area for me to shop at, where one is treated and respected as a valuable customer and not acted towards in an aggressive and rude manner. read more

really nice place with everything you need, from grape leaves, basmati rice, to feel-like-home coffee and tea sets. they also have a shisha section where you can get your hookah tobacco and coals (selection is somewhat limited however). If you are buying anything from this place make sure you read the expiration date. If you don't, they blame you for not paying attention. They are rude and unreasonable.
