Bless this Korean market. My husband and I moved from Oakland, where there is a pretty good sized Koreatown with a large grocery store, and when we moved out to this part of the East Bay, we were worried we wouldn't be able to get some Korean staples easily. Luckily we were wrong! The Concord Korean Market is small but mighty. The shelves are packed with Korean food, drink, cooking, and other random essentials. Everything is pretty fairly priced, and the guy at the counter threw in some yakult with our purchase. We ended up getting some massive containers of sesame oil and soy sauce, and a big tub of kimchi. The kimchi was locally made and very good, which is another big plus for when I don't want to make my own. The market is connected to a Korean restaurant which also deserves a visit - preferably before the market so you don't leave kimchi in your car for too long! read more

Don't go this place if you are not Korean or if you are Korean. This owner man (I assume) is master in ripping customers off with skills. 1. He would start a conv with you naturally 2. While you're distracted talking back to him, he'd casually input *any* numbers that he think the items are (only items with no price tape on it) 3. First, I am glad there is a Korean market and that is sells the Korean style sushi-kimbap. However, when I asked if they had fishcakes and they went to get it in the back. I heard them stamping the price on it and they gave it to me saying it is their last one. Fine. It did look a bit pricy from how much I usually buy it for, so I thought well, everything is going up so I guess this was just inflation too. However, I noticed it was covering the usual price label it originally had. Out of curiosity, I removed the label and it was 5. something while they charged me 12.99 so double! That dismayed me and on top of that the fish cakes were dried out indicating they were old and ended up inedible! Sigh...maybe that was why it was the last one-refuge from the weekend inventory. And I spent 125.00 worth of groceries-maybe that is why the lady offered free juice to me bc she felt guilty -idk-which I said it is ok, I don't need any juice. I like to support local businesses and they seemed nice,but I do not like shady tactics like that to gouge the customer. So I will go to other Korean markets even though further away when I want a kimbap or fishcake. Now that I think of it there were no prices indicated or receipt, so they could have charged me willy nilly-I had two bags of groceries for 125.00 and usually I get more at Ranch 99, so for all I know I could have been gouged for that too!? Was looking for a taqueria a friend recommended and saw a Korean restaurant AND THIS LITTLE MARKET. I was super excited. It's a tiny hole in the wall for a grocery, but they have a lot of staples that you'd need. The owner lady was very nice. Although they have many ingredients you cannot find at the international section of grocery stores like Safeway, I still found the prices very high and unreasonable. Unfortunately this is the only Asian market I have found in the area. Very nice neighborhood (small neighborhood) type market. Lots of good products in small place. The people that own the place are very friendly and smile a lot. It is obvious that they appreciate our business. Their mochi was delicious and were most of the prepackaged meals that I bought. The store reminded me of the ones I use to frequent when we lived in Tokyo. Sometimes I wish we had more of these neighborhood businesses. Unfortunately most are being replaced with mega stores which will soon have cold machines like self-checkout and robots instead of warm and friendly neighbors. This has become my favorite grocery store. It may not have all the stuff but it has all that I need and more. Since moving after living around the corner for a year, I only get to go once a month as I live about 30 minutes away now. I know in the Bay Area that's nothing but COVID turned me into a quasi-hermit so anything over 15 minute drive is too far. from the ready-made food, I always get their gimbap which I sometimes order for family gatherings. I get their fish egg rolls, japchae and pajeon too. All delicious. I got this delicious bread yesterday that has a red bean layer at the bottom, a cream layer with nuts and dried fruits in the middle, and a green bean layer on the top. Then it's coated with what I think is a peanut/sesame-like crunch. It don't know who supplies it for them but it's delicious. Fresh kimbap (Korean sushi rolls) daily and BOSS coffee imported from Japan - the perfect meal any day. LOVE!!! We literally buy a box of BOSS coffee a week and come for the kimbap every day. Love coming here just for the kimbap and banchan (side dishes - best kimchi ever!!!), but we never leave without buying our favorite Korean snacks, especially the dried seaweed snacks, microwaveable steamed white rice (steamed fresh sticky white rice in just 2 minutes?! Thank you!!!!), hello panda, Japanese peanuts, and of course all the flavors of Pocky (green tea is my fav!). Came here looking for fresh kimbap. They had some by the front cashier. There was no price or date I assume it was made today. And based on the other stuff I bought it was 13$. I'm not sure if that's how much it always is but that's what I paid. Anyway, it was good, its tofu and vegetables. Small Korean store next to Korean BBQ plus. The lady who runs this store is the sweetest and always greets you with a smile. Although this isn't a store with the biggest selection of Asian goodies - they do have a range including Korean ramen, condiments, soju, and various snacks, etc. My family and I came to visit after finishing a meal from the restaurant next door. I come here to get those huge tubs of kimchi to satisfy my kimchi cravings at times. It's the closest Korean market to me according to Yelp, though much further away from me compared to other grocery stores, so I stock up on other things while I'm here. Small store, but they utilize the space to pack in a lot. I get my curry blocks here (good variety), some furikake, spicy chili sauce, soy sauce, most Asian pantry food items. There's a tiny produce/cold food section, and I get those pickled radishes there. They have small packets of various fishes and roe in containers too. Toward the back, the good tubs of kimchi are in the fridges there too. Yum! They also have prepared food, such as kimbap, which looks great, but I haven't tried yet. They don't put prices on most their items. The lady quickly, manually keys in the numbers on the register. It felt like she was making up the prices as she went. Food itself was not very good and definitely not worth the price. Such a cute mom & pop shop. We came a couple years back and it wasn't that great, but I think the owner changed over the years. The first time we visited this store when we moved to Concord in 2017, it was really messy and unorganized, but it has become very clean and organized now. You would think that their items would be overpriced since they kind of are a monopoly in this Concord/WC/PH area, but their prices are actually very similar to bigger Korean markets like KP in Oakland and Hmart in SF/SJ. I don't come here too often because my family and I buy most of our groceries at Korean supermarkets and this store just isn't big enough to carry everything we need. But I do stop by from time to time when I am in urgent need of something or if I'm craving something and don't want to wait till my next visit to Oakland/SF/SJ. Concord Korean Market is a very limited Korean market that definitely charges for its specialty products. While I would love to support my fellow Korean establishment, the Concord Korean Market was not what I was hoping for when I came. Coming from the North Bay, we definitely suffer from a lack of Korean or even Asian markets to get certain products for cooking. With a self advertised Korean market, I was surprised at the lack of meats and Korean side dishes. Even the selection of Korean snacks were small with some of the classics but nothin special. Plus, the prices for everything were generally more than I would expect at most other Korean markets. The service was great and there is plenty of parking available on the lot. Overall, Concord Korean Market may say it is a Korean market, but definitely needs more to make it worth a trip. read more

Hello Friends - it's been a while! This is review is mainly for the yelpers that picked up the interest of K-Dramas and K-pop! Concord Korean Market is still my go-to for all things Korean food and snacks. I may have cheated and went to 99 Ranch and H-Mart but to be honestly the quality (99 Ranch) and distance (H-Mart) were not worth it. Plus support a Small Local Business! Since the craze of K-Dramas and K-pop influenced the love of Korean culture, Concord Korean Market has a huge selection of Soju, anything food related that has BTS on it, the coffees, and random vitamins - to instant meals that are seen in K-Dramas and even to the viral spicy noodles in about every different flavor. They have a selection/fridge of KBBQ meats and even huge variety of sauces - you can make your own DIY at home kbbq for a fraction of the cost. They also have a back row of fresh produce but not a big selection like a grocery store. Their frozen food section is my favorite! They carry different types of dumplings to Korean Cheese Corn-Dogs and even all the Melona bars! YAY! Now for the typical foods you see in K-Dramas, they have ramen, huge selections, ingredients to make ttekbokki/dukboki (spicy Korean Rice Cakes), and even carry the kits to make them, as well as kits for black bean noodles, spicy seafood noodle soup, and even the soft tofu soup. They also have premade banchan, side dishes available, and every time I've picked them up they are super fresh! As mentioned earlier, their soju inventory grew bigger and they have so much as well as other Korean drinks! I would write about their selection of Korean snacks but to be honest - I would probably write a huge paragraph. Either way, it's a very friendly local market - and the owners are super kind; they are Korean speaking but also understand English and will take the time to find things for you! I decided to go into this Korean market on a whim. Having been to a couple in the SF/Oakland area, I wouldn't say I am a regular but I at least knew what to expect. The inside itself is pretty cramped but the shelves are packed to the brim with all kinds of Korean foods, drinks, ingredients, cookware, etc. All in all, while the store comes off as unassuming and honestly a bit dirty - the selection was pretty good. As I'm browsing around and I decided to pick out a few things, I noticed there were no price tags on anything. Didn't think much of it and I took my basket with one single ramen packet, a single banana milk, a bottle of pineapple soju and a box of Samanco ice cream sandwiches to the register. The lady at the front ended her phone conversation and began to ring up the items. As I was still looking around the register to see what other goodies they had I really wasn't paying attention to the prices coming up on the register. As soon as I looked up and saw the total I was pretty stunned...$50! Clearly the lady helping could see my reaction and broke my train of thought by asking if it was just one bottle of soju. I quickly said yes maybe thinking that was the source of the mistaken price. But no, she still tacked on the CRV to the total. Not really know what else to do and already having my card in my hand. The clerk asked if I liked Yakult and placed one in my bag as she reached out for the card. My mistake was not walking away or asking for clarification on prices, that I can't blame anyone else but me. But clearly charging someone at least double or triple what these items are worth somewhere like 99 ranch is wrong on their part and horrible business practice. They ended up losing out on potential repeat business by pulling shady tactics and getting someone to over pay one time. I guess that's what they would rather have. DO NOT SHOP HERE read more

Amazing local business! Small mom and pop shop but is filled with all your standard Korean goods. I believe they may own and/or provide the meats for Korean BBQ restaurant next door. Have gotten a whole pack of thin sliced beef brisket - comes in a large pack but beef is very good quality. From KBBQ meats, boba ice cream, assortment of Soju flavors, staple Korean snacks and sides - they have it all.
