I know I put myself in this situation to even have to install a breathalyzer, but if you're required to put this device on your car, it would be great if it was a company with better customer service and one that didn't only have their bottom line in mind. Unfortunately, Intoxalox was the only company like this in my area that the State was working with at the time. Obviously, I haven't had the best experience with them, so hopefully, this review will help some of you: 1-When you sign up, MAKE SURE you review your contract thoroughly and they give you the device that the State requires and not a device that the company wants to give you. Also, when I signed up, they mentioned most of the fees, but they didn't mention the hassle, or the $20 fee, to have the car recalibrated every 30 days, so make sure you have them review ALL of the fees with you. 2-Not sure if anyone knows this, but you can detach your device from the car and just bring it into your service center to have it reset or recalibrated. You will, however, need to give them the current mileage for your car. (Your service center will have to be willing to do this for you.) This is useful for my next points: 3-When you call them for a lockout, they will allow you to drive the car for a short period of time AND charge you $80+. However, you NEVER need to call the company for a lockout! As per point #1, if you can, you'd be better off getting a ride to the service center with the device in hand and only paying the $20 reset fee, which you'd have to pay either way. 4-If your service center won't let you take the device in by hand, AND you have AAA or roadside assistance and the time, it makes sense to just have the car towed to the service center and "only" pay the $20 reset fee. 5-If your car battery dies (or for any repair work involving your battery being disconnected), and you get a jumpstart without alerting the company, they will charge you an $80+ maintenance fee. To avoid this fee, PRIOR to getting the jump, go to the "Report Maintenance" section on the App or the website and fill out the required info: For "Repair Center", put "Self", enter your phone number, the start and end date should be the same date, select the repair type, and in the general description, simply say: "Battery died, getting a jump start.", and hit "Submit". Lastly, unfortunately, the device requires you to do a rolling retest, meaning you have to blow (hard) randomly, even if you're driving on the highway. This makes for a very dangerous situation for you, your passengers, and other drivers around you, so please be careful. I hope this helps! read more

I completed my 1 year with the device. I had them take the device out at the end of the contract. They ruined my alarm system and my auto start. I live in alaska with negative temperatures. I then filed a damage claim with them and now 5 months later and countless hours on the phone getting no where, I received a letter saying that they are not responsible because it wasn't there device that did the damage it was who they had doing the work and they are not responsible. Do not use this company! It was stressful enough dealing with a DUI. This company does not provide honest information about their fee's even when asked for a specific fee structure. Moreover, it's next to impossible to get through to a person when you need help or have a question. Their machines are of junk and horrible quality!! Immediately after having a breathalyzer installed, due to no fault of mine, I was stranded in Pittsburg DMV for hours, and was left in a dark parking lot. Intoxalock was closed and did not care when I called them the next day. They refused to reimburse me for having to tow my Jeep back to the shop, and for having to take time off of work to deal with the situation. Their "free tow" is a farce, and the phone number you are provided for a "free tow" is a number to subscribe to a tow service. Nothing free about it! Due to their high incident rate of "lock outs;" it is wise to have a tow service you will need it! I recommend using AAA for tow service. This company has awful service. It takes 20 minutes to reach someone on the 24/7 helpline. They got my birthdate wrong, so I couldn't log into the app. I tried to send an email for help, but it kept coming back as non-deliverable. After the install, there was a fee for "delivery" as well as an install fee on top of the install fee I paid to the car shop. When the tech tried to calibrate it, the website didn't work. After 3 days of this BS, I had it removed, and low and behold....they charged me $150 to remove it. DON'T USE INTOXALOCK. Go to LifeSavers. read more

Where do I even begin? First of all, how is this company even licensed with the BBB. This company is a complete joke and honestly, they are outright thieves. Outdated devices, crappy wiring, horrible customer service agents that don't know s**t. You would think they hired prisoners for agents. The initial agent I signed up was amazing. She sold me on this company with her customer and empathy along with a rebate. I followed directions for the rebate and NEVER RECEIVED it. I've had several issues with lack of customer service afterwards. I purchased another vehicle and needed to switch the device from one car to another and was quoted one price only to drive 2hrs and a higher fee quoted to me. Several times the device didn't prompt correctly for breathe which when I just recently calibrated my device they switched it. Now two days later I've been sitting in my vehicle for an hour unable to start it due to a device failure. Spoke to one agent name Luis who basically tells me there is nothing that can be done to aide me during my crisis. The service center is closed and that I can make an appointment with my service center on Saturday. Only for me to Google and notify my service center is closed all weekend. Have to uber home leave my brand new vehicle at my employer. Called back spoke to a different agent and was told to call back in the morning and schedule an appt for a different service center and call and have my vehicle towed to the service center. All a huge inconvenience to me the consumer. Nothing appears to be in place for the consumer in a crisis situation. I dont reccomend this company. There is no customer service department to make complaints and when you ask for a supervisor you get disconnected. I live I San Francisco but have property a hundred miles away I in Sonoma. I was in Sonoma last week. I went grocery shopping at the Guerneville Safeway Friday morning, ....when I was through shopping I blew into my device and was told I had passed.........but my car's ignition did not turn over.......after 2.5 infuriating hours I was forced to take a 2two hundred dollar cab ride back to the city.....I had work to do! .......I was without car and had to take a an Uber back to Sonoma on Sunday.....this time...my car started but the device stated and had a'' violation 3'' and had 3 days to take care of this or my car would be frozen......I had a ''violation 3'' once before and was told it was because I had put ny car key in the ignition before blowing into the device......I have a push Botton ignition!.....I had to take my car to the shop(an hour away) to get recalibrated at $75!........this second time I took my car to the shop.....they inspected it but wa told they could not reinstall it.......they could not tell me why and that I had to contact intoxalock..................intoxalock neither answered my phone call or responded to my texts..............I had signed up for auto-pay but it appeared a payment did not go through.....I made sue it did and was now convinced I would be able to have device reinstalled at the shop..........not so!.....and had know way Of finding out why..............................currently my car is frozen................I have to have my car towed.....at my expense to the shop, next Tuesday......not knowing where I stand with this HORRIBLE device!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This thing has a Violation 3 that apparently violates you when you aren't even in your car I have had 15 of these and no others since I've had the device over the last 5 months and they keep charging me $100 each time. That's $1300 so far and I still have 2 weeks to go. Maybe I'll get to an even $1500 who knows? Additionally my calibration date to prevent malfunctioning is a month AFTER my removal date. Intoxalot Will get you jammed up they will turn on your inner lock why you are not in the car and the car is turned off then they charge $167 plus whatever it cost to reboot the system on top of all that that goes as a strike against your record, and if you have any strikes against your record within the last two months, they will keep your interlock system on longer absolutely do not use this system. This company is a nightmare to work with. If you have a choice to have this device or not drive, don't drive. Heck, maybe get a bicycle. This company will find every reason they can to drain your time, money, and energy. First of all, getting the device installed and the time started is an almost impossible task. If the stars aligned enough to actually be blessed enough to actually talk to a person, you will most likely be told " we will send you an email" or " we are waiting for paperwork" when no one from the company will actually send the paperwork. The only way to get any progress is to talk to your state representative or write a bad review. My partner is the one who needed the machine installed. I had the machine installed in my vehicle trying to help. We had to have the machine in and were paying for it for 2 months before his time actually started. My vehicle started to have problems shortly after his time started. It would be fixed for a month then start to have problems and be taken for a few weeks and we'd get it back for a few weeks before sending back to the shop. 5 months after his time started, my vehicle broke down for the final time. It has not worked since. 2 different mechanics gave up on it. The company says there is NO WAY that their machine is responsible however at this point almost everything that can be replaced has been replaced on my vehicle. The only consistent factor has been the interlock. I have talked to other people who have experience with this company. One has the same maker and year as my vehicle. They had the EXACT SAME ISSUE. The mechanic who installed the machine was so fed up with my vehicle that he dropped it off with the battery dead. Knowing my partner's time would most likey pause, we would have to get it towed back to his shop to pay him $30 for calibration fee plus $75 to the intoxalock company. And thats only for a month calibration. I have not had a vehicle for 7 months and my partner's time was supposed to be over in the beginning of this month. However getting a hold of anyone from this company is almost impossible. He has been hung up on more than actually talking to an intoxalock representative. He was trying to get his declaration of compliance signed however they are refusing to sign it because our vehicle has been off. As soon as we realized that our vehicle was not gonna be running again, my partner tried to call intoxalock to let them know what was happening. Several emails send, all were IGNORED. Several calls were made, all were IGNORED!! The only time he was called back was after he wrote a review talking about his experience. That helped a bit but the guy who was calling him was more interested in his taking down the review. Now this company is trying to get him to get another vehicle to install the machine in and extending his time another 5 MONTHS because he " did not comply with the whole" even though he has been still paying them money this entire time and can't even use the vehicle he is paying to have the machine in! He has not missed a payment but still to this company " he hasn't been complying enough" at this point he is paying to not drive and not have his license even though he has busted his butt and has complying the ENTIRE TIME. we went from no debt to in debt in the year span we have been working with this company . I'm writing this to stop anyone who was even considering this company. This company is a scam, unethical, shameful & probably not even legal. In the time I've been with intoxalock I have been wrongfully charged over $400 .. it was improperly installed by their "certified center/specialist" after months of going back to service centers (limited shops work with them, so chances are the shop will be in BFE) it was by sheer chance I finally found a shop that informed me that in in fact was installed wrong. Gets even better - each lockout cost $75 for them to reset your device, you then take it to the auto shop who reset your device, but they of course charge for labor. I've seen shops charge anywhere from $20-$75 !!! Intoxalock was unable to reimburse me because they "don't have the ability to put money back into my account" but they can certainly take it!!! They were able to give credit to my account... one month was over $385 between multiple lock outs & service fees. Awful awful company read more

So I had to have an II put in a vehicle I am borrowing from a generous friend. It has been only 15 days of using this absolute worthless piece of s**t! 11/28 get up to got to work got in the vehicle and did the test passed and hit start only to get lousy sound of an engine cranking over then to the unforgettable sound of a dead battery. Mind you it's 545 AM and I work 32 miles away. I knew this was gonna be a long day. Finally instead of me waking people up to not only inconvenience them but me as well, I got a fully charged jump pack and tried. Same thing crank to dead battery clicking sound. Next I grab some jumper cables and use my uncles very new truck to try that. Cranks then guess what?! Yep dead battery sound. Oh and the kicker I am on my second day of a new JOB having to deal with this Bullshit. Finally I was able to get a new battery put in the first 200 dollars I've spent for the day not to mention I am missing a very good paying brand new job so not getting PAID. Let the thing sit and went to try it one more time oh this a 2013 pathfinder and I could smell fuel like it was flooded um fuel injected vehicles don't just FLOOD. I pressed the gas to the floor and FINALLY I got the car started. It's now 930 AM and I've lost 2.5 hours of work. I headed to work got some gas on the way left the vehicle running in case it decided to want to act up again. Got on the road and was at work by 1015. Keep doing the math it's what INTOXALOCK AND OR THE UNQUALIFIED CHOP SHOP YOU HAD PUT THIS THING IN MY CAR! Got to work with the anticipation everything was good. Turned the car off and tried to restart........and guess what?! NOTHING dead in the water however now there is a twist to the story everything in my vehicle was working just fine but THE INTOXALOCK HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER. Here goes phone call at least number 20 of the day to them went through all the troubleshooting steps for the fourth time with the phone rep absolutely annoying doing the same thing that is not working to get my car running. Next thing you know I'm calling the roadside assistance through Intoxalock and I told him I needed my vehicle towed back to the place that put in my Intoxalock. They got all my information and could not give me an ETA on when I receive a phone call as to when a tow truck would arrive. By now I am PISSED. I faked them back 1.5 hours later and asked for an update. It's should NEVER take that long to line a tow truck up. I was hung up on by one rep well that threw the first fuel on my fire. I called back here again taking another twenty minutes to repeat myself and I told the phone rep that I wanted to speak to a manager immediately they continued on to say that they could probably look at my account and figure out what was going on and help me. I said no nobody's going to be able to help me. My car needs to be towed back to the place it was put in it finally I had a manager get on the phone with me explain the situation and said that they had a tow truck that would be ETA an hour and a half so figuring that out at work with a car dead in the water on my second day of a brand, new job, losing hours because of your faulty device I am beyond livid at this point the tow truck driver finally called me around 2:30 in the afternoon and said he was on his way. He did not get to my work until about 4 o'clock in the afternoon so if you do the math this is been a 12 hour day almost already, and I've lost all of my pay for the day and trying to stay out of embarrassment on a brand new job and explain what's going on why I'm not able to work. Thankfully, my work has been very generous with me even though I've only been there for now, one day till truck, driver gets the vehicle loaded we get on the road because I needed a ride and we get back to the place where they installed the interlock and they start troubleshooting it. We tried three brand new different interlock devices and still nothing. Finally one of the techs decided he was going to get his test light out and start checking fuses only to discover that there are several blown fuses where he wired it into is not in the correct spot. It should be wired to the starter of the vehicle not in the fuse box , this place closes at 5:30 in the evening and I am out of ride for my third day of work which I'm now going to miss another eight hours of pay because of Intoxalock Ignition Interlock I proceeded at 5:30 to call Intoxalock and tell them I needed my vehicle fixed immediately. I cannot miss another day of work and I'll Brand New job because of their faulty products however now that I figured it out the install place is also a culprit they mentioned a $125 inspection fee that I may have to pay Mark my words I will not be paying that fee any damages then we will find to the vehicles, memory board, brains wiring fuses, and so on and so forth will be replaced between the person or company that installed it and Intoxalock.This car ran fine. read more

When you call in to get service, your call is answered on the drop of a dime. Once they have collected your money it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to help. The paperwork that was sent to the service center was incorrect. I spent 8 hours at the DMV just to be told that the paperwork was all wrong. I finally was able to get someone on the phone and was told that the paperwork would be corrected and sent out via overnight mail. This was last Friday and here were are a week later and still NO paperwork. Anyone else with this problem? I contacted the DMV to complain and was told to contact the Bureau of Automotive Repair to file a formal complaint. When you first contact them , you get the impression that they are based in the US but once enrolled and call customer service all agents are from India. I experienced so many "drop calls"and no call backs from the agents. They outsource their labor to pay the employees less. No wonder they don't want to return my calls. Intoxalock scam their customers and really don't care for helping out once the device is installed. I hired this company because I had to expedite my installment and Intoxalock promised to have the DMV form mailed in 24 hours. I was pulled off my work schedule until I get this fixed. I communicated to them that it is very important to have this done in a couple of days because I am losing money for everyday that I am not working. They promised me that the paperwork will be mailed over night and should be there 24 hours. They charged me $40 for the expedite documents that arrived 5 days after the installation. I took my forms to the DMV and they didn't accept the forms because intoxalock did not add the installation date. At this point I haven't been working for a week and I called them to send the paperwork overnight. They said they can't do that because they don't do overnight mail!! Wow I couldn't believe it! Talk about recording your conversations for accountability. I am sooo disappointed in this company and in their customer service . I know this is suppose to be an unpleasant experience so we don't make the same mistake again but really you would think they would help to make sure they get paid too . Everything they tell you is a lie, and as soon as the device is in your car, they will no longer answer you. First of all this device is about the size of a brick, they are not very transparent in their billing as well. If your in the DFW area I would advise against this device and just go with the Smart Start device. If you have to transfer for what ever reason a lot of counties in Texas do not recognize Intoxalock then you've got to pay for the removal and the new install. I currently completed all the required requirements and sent the removal letter a week ago , every time I call they give the same excuse "It hasn't been processed yet" Here is the catch according to every customer service or so called unprofessional supervisor I speak with tells me it takes 2 days to process. These idiots are the best at manipulating people, and overcharging and adding on stupid fake azz fees. Day1 told them - i dont do bi weekly, monthly only...they screwed me and did bi-weekly saying to change it later...that too was a lie. Also said DO NOT USE my debit information for ANYTHING EXCEPT TO START, then they start charging my debit for all sorts of stupid shit in a week. Week1-2 Wake up to 100$ taken out my account that i never gave permission to use, bouncing my bank and charging overdraw fees.\ So i call them, they took 100$ 8am and it still says i owe 30$ hmmm how?????? just another added fake fee.... Then they tell me i agreed to bi weekly, which I DID NOT, then say they cant do MONTHLY payments (even tho thats the NORMAL) Meanwhile these idiots cant just make a normal payment on a normal monthly basis cause it would be TOO easy for people to CATCH their OVERCHARGING. Stay away from this company!! Very rude customer service. Device is so hard to operate and if you fail you will be charged!! No mechanic shops willing to repair or maintain your car. If you can inhale and exhale hard for 15 seconds straight without removing your mouth from the device go for it. After getting there device removed, I had to change my debt card number to get them to quit charging me, Told I was going to get a free installation and didn't, Had to block there phone numbers and emails calling me messaging me to get them to leave me alone about how "I owe them money" and that not paying them is going to be "a violation of your states requirements", and customer service won't do anything,.
