WOW WOW WOW...... I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Shi and his amazing staff, Ruby, Jackie and Allie. They took extremely good care of me during my visits to both his Lake Forest location as well as the NEW Huntington Beach location. If you're like me, and you put off going to the dentist for over 10 years for whatever reason, (mine was a greedy dentist in Newport Beach who quoted me something ridiculous and obviously didn't care about me or my health so I just said forget it instead of trying to find the right dental office), then this is the dentist for you! Do not put it off any longer like I did since your tooth health is directly related to aging and overall health. Dr. Shi did not make me feel overwhelmed, and took care of the most important issues first without breaking my bank account. He is a GENTLE dentist, kind and really does amazing work on your teeth. I felt no pain whatsoever. I had one small cavity as a young adult and was told they used porcelain or something white however after my x-rays with Dr. Shi, he showed me the metal in my tooth. I do not want metal in my mouth for various reasons and he is going to remove it since I have a new cavity right where my old cavity was so that's perfect. I've had a deep cleaning, cavities filled and will be getting more stuff done in the near future as well as schedule my regular six-month cleanings so this never happens again. It's currently only $10 for consultation, x-rays and examination so there's no excuse not to go and see what's going on with your teeth/mouth. Then Dr. Shi will put a plan in place for you to have healthy teeth and gums. He is very reasonable and cost effective. Basically he is the best dentist I have ever been to all around. I will be referring everyone I know that needs a great dentist to his practice. I have a huge sense of relief moving forward knowing that I am in good hands for the rest of my life for my dental health. Haven't gone to the dentist in about 10 years due to my intense fear from bad experiences with previous dentists I had (e.g. mean dentists, dentists who did work probably when they didn't need to, drilling when my mouth wasn't fully numb so I felt sharp pains, etc.). Decided to go to the dentist since my friends and family were pushing me to and found this dental practice near my house. Plenty of parking and my first impression of the dental office was that it was really clean. I filled out paperwork with the nice and helpful staff working in the front. I had a first patient consultation and deep teeth cleaning with Dr. Shi. I also went a 2nd time since I needed to put a crown on a molar I had a cavity on. My overall experience with Dr. Shi has been extremely positive. He was very patient, friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, careful, and not trying to force you towards any certain decisions (but gives his best recommendations). I can comfortably say that he takes pride in his job and looks out for his patients' best interests. He is able to answer all my questions in a manner that is easy for me to understand, and shows me proof of why I need a certain procedure done (through x-rays). Before he does something during the procedure, he tells me what he is going to do so I can anticipate it and there are no surprises. His staff are also friendly and very competent. In short, I would recommend him and all his staff to my friends and family and will continue to go to him for all my dental needs. I have always had extreme anxiety when it came to going to the dentist and it was keeping me from getting work that I really needed done. Well finally after a toothache, my boyfriend brought me here and immediately the office staff took me in, they were extremely nice and helpful and that alone really calmed my anxiety. Then I got to meet Doctor Shi, he is extremely professional with great bedside manner and immediately tells you the work you need done. Never have I felt so comfortable at a dentist! I came here for my first dental exam in 4 years. (Had no dental insurance.) They promptly took X-rays and sure enough, I need a root canal. Dr. Shi has done an amazing job on my lower right wisdom teeth which was broken. He extracted the broken teeth in less than 20 minutes. I do not feel much pain after the anesthetic is over and do not need any pain killer. The next step is to implement a bridge to cover the area. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the front office girl and had no waiting time. I had seen their $10 deal so I walked in and scheduled. They had called ahead and send me the paperwork to my email so I did not have to wait and write it all out. I came in to get my two crowns done and Dr. Shi was Great! Dr. Shi is amazing!! He caught a large cavity that my other dentist missed (it could have lead to a potential root canal). He took his time to fill the large cavity and after 2 weeks of a little sensitivity, I feel 100% again. Also, many dentists can take advantage of patients and try to get the most money out of them. The front desk administrator, Rose, was very pleasant to speak with and provided sufficient follow up prior to the visit. Dr. Shi was very pleasant and explained everything in great detail. I decided to have my old mercury fillings replaced and gave Dr. Shi a call. He answered my call personally, listened to my questions and even did additional research to help me achieve my goal of removing toxins. It felt like a collaboration. Once we had a plan in place, we were able to schedule an appointment within the week. During the procedure, he took extra care to use a dental dam to protect me while removing the old fillings. Other dentists misdiagnosed my toothache, or took not enough X-rays, or did not use enough anesthesia. His pricing was good and he accepts most or all insurance. I had broken a crown on a Sunday night, called my regular dentist first thing Monday morning knowing I needed a new crown, and I was in pain! I was surprised when my dental office told me they couldn't see me, I would have to wait till the next day....I always thought dentists saved time for emergencies! I frantically started searching for a dentist that could take me in today. I called Dr. Shi's office because it was close to me, yet knew nothing about him. A very friendly girl answered the phone and I explain my problem it; was 9:30 AM, she said she had just gotten a 10 o'clock cancellation which I could have; I said I would be there! I waited less than a minute, then Dr. Shi came to the lobby and introduced himself, and brought me back. Long story short, he determined I needed a root canal, which should've already been done by my own dentist, who I had just seen less than a month ago!!! He took so much time with me, showed me my x-rays, explained everything he was going to do, and kept asking if I was in any pain during the procedure. After consulting with three other dentists in the area I met with with Dr Shi and I just knew he was the one. He took my call by cell phone on his day off and scheduled me the following morning as soon as he could. He gave me a temporary crown in the mean time that honestly looked better then the real tooth i had before.
