Went here for a routine cleaning due to the location, in network and high rating on Yelp. They did a thorough exam very nice and professional. And then they started to upsell and push a $1,200 cleaning... They were justifying the claim that they look out 5 to 10 years out, also saying they can't do a full cleaning since it will impact the quality of the future specialized cleaning and after they report to insurance I would be locked out and not able to be covered for it in the future if I did not do it today it would be more expensive later over $2k. So of course cleaning was really rushed. I went to my old dentist a month after and they said it looked like my teeth were not cleaned or polished since they last saw me. I sent the X rays/imaging from the visit to a dentist friend and they said it was a very extreme solution for something that can be managed with personal routine changes. They are entitled to their opinion and how they operate as a business nothing against them. This is a heads up if you decide to go in. read more

Bait-and-Switch at Its Finest!!!! They advertise a $99 new patient special that supposedly includes a cleaning, X-rays, and an exam by the doctor. I came in with no major concerns and made it very clear that I was there for a basic cleaning. After the exam, they immediately tried to upsell me on a $1,200 specialized cleaning. I said no and asked if they could just do a regular cleaning like the $99 special promises. After an awkward hesitation, they agreed. What followed was the most rushed, bare-minimum cleaning I'd ever had. It lasted under 10 minutes! The female dental hygienist was incredibly rude and had zero bedside manner. She was clearly annoyed that I didn't choose the $1,200 option, rushed through everything, got water all over my face, and acted like my presence was an inconvenience. I left feeling scammed, disrespected, and frustrated. This was not the experience they advertise, and it absolutely felt like a bait-and-switch tactic designed to pressure patients into overpriced services. I will never return here again. Do not fall for their $99 special unless you're prepared upsold and treated poorly if you say no. read more

I love Modern Dental! After bouncing between several dental offices, I opted to stay with Modern Dental despite the distance for me given the great care I received and that it was more affordable compared to other offices. I did my gum graft and crown here, and both were fantastic experiences. When I had an issue after my gum graft, they squeezed me in asap to get me checked out. And with my crown, the fact that I can get my crown made and put in on the same day was so convenient. Even the basic dental cleanings were always efficient and done with detail. Dr. Nguyen is fantastic, and he's well supported with his office staff who always check in and go above and beyond for my care! Lovely and friendly local place in the neighborhood that offers quality services and detailed consulations. The front desk is friendly and welcome when you walk in. Wait times for each appointment is not long so you can expect to be seen within 10mins of your appointment time. I came here for a periodontal cleaning and consultation after my previous dental office moved. Looking back, my previous place was a bunch of fear mongers and sold me a bunch of procedures. However, right from the start, Dr. Nguyen did not give me those vibes. I was given really compassionate care and the team put together a treatment plan I was really happy with. I came into Dr Nguyen's office today as a new patient since my previous dentist's filling came out last night. I was able to get a same day appointment, thankfully. The entire staff was so incredibly sweet, caring, and gentle. They have TVs on the ceiling and let you watch whatever you want with headphones to drown out some of the dentistry sounds and relax you. I super appreciate Dr Nguyen taking the time to go over my X-rays thoroughly and explain everything to me. It's also worth mentioning that when Dr Nguyen gave me the numbing shot, I had virtually no pain with it. He was so gentle and quick with it! The sweet hygienist came in and measured my gums to check the levels of gingivitis/inflammation. I have never once had a dentist office do that, and I really appreciate her being so thorough and sweet. It took me going to 2 other dental offices before I found them. I found the entire staff to be professional. From the moment you arrive until you leave, you're treated as a valued client. The receptionists are welcoming. The hygienists make sure you're situated and taken care of. So been coming here for years with my family. Here's the recap of my experience through those years. First, appointments are made and you're obligated to make it there on time and they have cancellation fees if you don't and cancel. This has happened multiple times for the family. This time they said they had no booths available and was waiting for one to open up. Well why make my appointment at this time then? Another issue I had was the doctor suggesting I do surgery on my gums. I paid extra hundreds of dollars for this and got it done and it was super painful. Expectation: gums are stronger and healed. Result: I can still see my teeth root and no significant result. They said my gums didn't take the procedure well. Thats it... They do decent work at times but over the years I've been there and gave benefits of the doubt, it's been overall disappointing. This practice continues to try and sell me on something extra every time I go. For instance, when they started selling Invisalign, they suddenly told me my teeth need this treatment. First time there this morning and had a great experience! Scheduling an appt via email was very easy. Got a response fairly quickly. The establishment itself is very clean and beautiful. The receptionists, X-ray tech, hygienist, and dentist made it really comfortable from start to finish. They were very gentle with my teeth and gums and helped me with everything I needed. It didn't feel rushed like most places and they didn't try to sell me anything. Lots of places I've been to, I felt pressured or uncomfortable talking about what I needed to get done. I moved from LA to OC and my biggest fear was finding a new dentist. I have a hard time finding ones that still focus on patient care rather than what's now become of dentists, salesmen. I had to do a full mouth reconstruction and had consultations with 6 dentists in Irvine, Tustin, Newport, and Lake Forest. I finally decided to proceed with Dr. Nguyen because he seriously is the best. I was first convinced by their amazing front office staff that are organized, kind, transparent, patient, and friendly. When I met Dr. Nguyen, I can tell he was extremely meticulous and most importantly still valued patient care above everything else. This made the doctor very angry because I was doing something very dangerous to myself. (This dentist was my brother-in-law) Fortunately, he became my dentist until he retired. I have since changed several dentists because I am a difficult and sensitive patient. Fortunately, my family recommended Lake Forest Modern Dental to me. I love this dentist. Everyone is so warm and friendly. During cleanings you have the option to watch Netflix on an overhead tv. Appointments are personalized - They give recommendations based off of your best interest and are not pushy. They even give you glasses if you want to protect your eyes/lashes from water that may splash. Amazing people working here. So friendly and welcoming!!! This was my first time at LF Modern Dental. I had an old filling that came out and after a month, started feeling a bit of pain. They were able to schedule me in for the next day. Walked in at 8am and was happily greeted by Bryn at the front desk. Speaks volumes to me as the front desk is the first line for the business and she was so energetic and full of joy. Then Kevin helped me with all my X-rays and preparation for the new filling. He was so kind and efficient with what needed to get done. After, Dr.T made me feel at home and at ease with what she needed to do. She was very comforting with getting to know me as a person rather than just working on another patient. She communicated throughout the procedure and made sure I was feeling comfortable throughout. Lastly, hygienist Amanda did a great job with the cleaning. She has a gentle hand on how she operates but is very meticulous and thorough with her work. The customer service from start to finish was a breath of fresh air! The dental office is modern and clean. I hate going to the dentist but I love Modern Dental! Everyone is so nice and efficient. I know dentistry is a tough field to work in during a pandemic - but they make the best of it! Dr. Nguyen is kind and gentle but doesn't draw out the misery that goes with being at the dentist. The hygienist is SUPER meticulous and attentive to detail. The perfect combination! Anyway - I've had some terrible experiences at dentists (over-treating, under-numbing, not isolating my gums well when whitening and burning my gums, etc) but this place knows how to keep tough patients happy! I've had several cavities filled, a deep cleaning, and invisalign treatment all this year and have almost looked forward to every appointment (it's impossible to look forward to the dentist so that's as good as it gets). I've been going here for 3 years now. I've gotten a couple of chipped tooth fixed as well as my usual cleanings. Office is clean and modern. They even have TVs on the ceiling for your entertainment while they are doing the cleaning. Everyone has been professional, polite, and do the job well. The staff will tell you exactly what your insurance covers and doesn't push hard to upset. If they recommend something they will clearly tel you how much it costs. I recently switched jobs and the lowest level dental plan did not include this location in the plan. After doing the research and hearing horror stories about other places, I upgraded my insurance so I can keep coming here. Highly recommend. read more
