Very poor unethical business and service practices. Buyer beware or better yet shop for and service your vehicle elsewhere.

If there was an option to have zero stars that is what I would give Ira Subaru. I purchased my pre-owned vehicle less than a year ago and a MAJOR repair has come up that I found out failed their inspection tests(with documentation to prove it) and yet they still sold me the vehicle. The service manager then proceeded to blame the issue on a worker who didn't understand English and their invoice system, neither of these are my issues. If you put a fail status on a major service repair and then sell that customer a car knowing the issue is present that is simply unethical. At no time has there been an attempt by Subaru to make the situation right. Unless you are getting a brand new car stay away from this place - worst experience I have ever had and I am making it my mission to tell everyone I know! read more

Unfortunately, I had a bad enough experience that I will be taking my business elsewhere. I bought my car there (used) a year ago, and at this visit learned of an issue that, based on mileage, they should have taken care of before they sold me the car, or at least disclosed it as something that hadn't been taken care of yet. When this was brought to the manager, instead of owning their responsibility and covering the cost, I ended up having to pay for a very expensive repair. Stay away from their service department if you are female. My wife took her car in for brake pad replacement and was told, "all brake jobs require rotor replacement," another $200 cost in addition to their way overpriced $278 for simple brake pad repair. She did not have any problem with the rotors -- she had just started to hear the noise from the wear bars on the brake pads. I don't think this would have happened if I had taken her car in for service. read more

Scheduled an appointment to test drive a car, confirmed that the car was their on the lot drove 11/2 hours to get their to find out that the car was not available. I don't take this lightly, writing the review you are about to read, but it is unfortunately necessary. I came to Ira Subaru a couple weeks ago because my windows were stuck down and it was about to rain. I was told that the issue was my drivers window switch. Don't worry though, it's all under warranty, is what I was told. I was skeptical at first, given the car had almost 82,000 miles and is highly modified and I know I did not have an extended warranty, but I was reassured by my service advisor multiple times that it was covered nonetheless. If it wasn't covered, I was planning on taking care of the issue at work since I work at a different brand dealership myself. I come back two weeks later and during that period of time, the AC stopped blowing cold (not related at all, just coincidence) so I requested an AC recharge for when I came back. I was very clear in explaining what I wanted done and why I wanted it done to ensure there should be no confusion. Altogether, should've taken about 2 hours or so from start to finish. After 3 hours of waiting without being told anything, I asked for an update and was told that they're still working on it. 4 and a half hours in, I was told that they did a coolant flush first, and then realized they did the wrong job and then did the AC recharge. This was after I had said multiple times I just wanted an AC recharge ONLY. Not only did they perform unauthorized work on a car, they performed unauthorized work on a HIGHLY MODIFIED HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE. It was irresponsible on the part of the advisor who told the technician to do a coolant flush after how explicit I had been about what I wanted in the multiple phone calls I had with the advisor prior to returning to the dealership. I couldn't believe after all of that, they had gone and done something as ridiculous as what I had just heard. This was the first of two bombshells I got in this update. The second piece was that the window switch, that I had been told multiple times by the advisor was covered despite what I've already mentioned, was in fact not covered and that I had to pay somewhere close to $500 out of the blue just for that. I could've had everything done at a significantly lesser cost at work if I had known up front it wasn't. Not to mention, I would not have come back for the AC recharge either because I don't live close to this dealership and would just do that at my job too, also significantly cheaper. After waiting over twice as long as I should've for what this should've taken, I was genuinely pissed off at that point. I asked to speak to a manager, and had to wait almost a half hour just to speak to him. So now after 5 hours of being at the dealership, I'm being told why all they're going to cover is the coolant flush because I didn't ask for it, completely ignoring the fact that his staff had gone and done something so stupid and potentially damaging to the high performance engine that does not have any major OEM parts. He casually brushed off the window switch as just "a mistake" and that I should still be paying for it since the car isn't in the original warranty. After much arguing, I accepted paying just for the window switch (still over $200 when I could've gotten one for much less through work) and the AC recharge. This really wasn't what I felt was right given how many different ways they had just screwed me over. I have not been able to drive the car or enjoy it at all in fear of having it overheat because the car takes significantly more coolant than a factory engine does or just on principle of doing ANYTHING you are NOT AUTHORIZED TO DO on a person's car. That is a line that should never be crossed, and they did and acted like it was nothing. I will never be coming back or recommending anyone I know looking for a Subaru to this dealership after this. I have done this for a lot of people in the past but this was completely unacceptable and appalling, and have lost any respect for them as an organization I may have had. Come here at your own risk. My husband and I came to this dealer and were able to test drive the car that we were interested in. Everyone was very exceptionally polite to us, and we did not feel pressured in the least by the salesman nor the manager. We were extremely interested in the car, and the salesman and managers that we were worked with were great in answering all of our questions and trying to address our concerns. In the end, we did not buy this car, but were still treated politely and with respect, quite unlike the high pressured dealers. We highly recommend coming here. read more

Extremely frustrated with this dealership. No, I did not purchase my car from them, but I have been a customer of Ira Mazda until they closed a couple of years ago. This past fall, I traded in my car and was told that I could get a refund on my extended warranty. I was also told to file the paperwork through Ira Subaru in Danvers since Mazda was no longer there. I did file my paperwork in December after I received my payoff letter, and until today, I have not heard a word. I have tried calling, and have been put into voicemail each and every time (both the Finance Department, a guy with a German-sounding name.....I cannot recall it off the top of my head,and Mike Garabedian, the general manager) as well as emailing, over the last two months, but not one person will respond to me. This has gotten to be ridiculous. All I wanted was an update on the time-frame of when I can expect to receive my refund. I am now in the process of filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office against the business. I'll probably make a complaint through the BBB as well. My suggestion is, find another place to do business. read more

Ripoff pricing and questionable tatics - read on... Just spent close to an hour here and test drive. First off the good - I had Manny for a salesperson and he was great. I wish all salespeople were like him. Very knowledgable, not pushy and no bs. First off the while I drove was an '07 but the only thing on the windshield was a huge "2009" sticker thought maybe a simple mistake. Get back to the dealer ready to buy the car at a reasonable price and was presented with paperwork that stated retail value of the car was $13,800 coincidentally that's the real retail value of an '09 Legacy with 75k miles. Asked the salesman about it and he says no thats the price. So I checked kbb and their retail value on this same model Legacy is $10,800! So I called the sales manager up and he says no they didn't get anything wrong! What?? I tell him about it and he says he doesn't care what kbb says, he has his own book! Huh wow well Goodluck selling cars for $3,000 over KBB RETAIL!!! That's ridiculous, I've never heard of a dealer asking for $3,000 OVER KBB or even $1 over KBB, that's unheard of and it seemed like a little bit of deception trying to get someone to think that it's a 2009 and not an 07. I picked up my first Subaru ever, a 2015 Forester, just two days ago. Everyone at this dealership was friendly and professional. Manny Figueroa, the salesman, made sure to show me the cars I was interested in based on my needs, without trying to add on lots of extras I didn't want. He was very knowledgeable, helpful and had a great attitude. When I picked the car up Manny took the time to go through all the features and even set up my phone with Bluetooth. The finance manager explained options thoroughly so we could decide what we needed to do. The dealership is clean and airy and well-stocked with snacks and beverages. I had a chance to speak with the general manager, Nancy Buell, who obviously cares that her customers are happy and sets the tone for this dealership. Greeted by a service technician who then goes over your service. Car ready as promised. Waiting area nice and the wifi worked great. As I began my search for my new subaru outback, I am buying my third subaru, I contacted a few dealerships in my area to get pricing on a new 2018 Outback. I completed a web form on the Ira web site and was promptly called by someone. I asked them to provide their best out the door price on the model I wanted, in email. At this point two other dealerships had provided this, and I let them know I was comparing options. The person on the phone did ask for what the other prices I was quoted were. I did not provide this and simply asked - please put together your best deal for my consideration. I was then contacted by another person shortly later via phone. I reiterated what I wanted, and she stated I should come in for a test drive, and the final price is never the final price. Eventually she agreed to speak with the sales manager regarding my inquiry. I received one email back from her, stating that they were checking on the price. I replied to this, and again stated what I was looking for in email. I received no email back all day and at 7pm I wrote back and let them know that it was obvious that Ira did not want or need my business. I will admit my email back was a bit direct, but I was honestly disappointed. The next day I did get an email, without an apology, but that they got busy. In the end they did provide the info I asked for, and unfortunately did not beat the other two dealerships when it came to pricing. read more

You guys suck. I started my interactions with you guys by asking how long it would take for you to fix my valve spring recall. Your call center on multiple occasions said that it would take 4-6 hours. When I arrived to drop off my vehicle, I was told that it would be a month. This would have been perfectly okay if this information would have been divulged to me when I made the appointment a month prior. In addition to this, the service rep decided to make fun at my ignorance when he announced that the repair would take a month instead of the previously informed 4-6 hours. One month later I receive a call telling me that my vehicle would be done in a few days, however the vehicle had a number of major safety issues that needed to be repaired immediately. Apparently my battery failed the inspection and needed to be replaced for $195. My front breaks needed to be repaired for $523.60. And both rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced for $947.05. When I explained that I did not want the work done because I currently did not have the finances to pay the total $2,218.13 quote, Yvonne told me multiple times that my rear wheels were going to fall of my car while driving and that I would die. So the day comes for me to pick up my car and I prepare to drive my death trap off their lot, I go to start the vehicle and the battery is dead. Now I understand that my battery may be old, but it has never died on me. I was able to ask one of the mechanics to give me a jump, and the guy was very pleasant as he got my car to start. However the premise that they knew that I was picking up my car that day and they left the battery dead after they tried to sell me one is borderline scummy. So I go to my normal mechanic and show him the list of immediate safety issues. He spent 30 minutes checking the wheel bearings and breaks and eventually explained to me that I was almost scammed for $2000. i bought my car in june. i have been shopping around and the saleman called me late in may early june saying there was two cars coming in my price range and they were a mazda 2 and 3 and than i called them asked how many miles and when they told me the price i said i wanted to see and i test drove the mazda 2 and i put a deposit on it. They held it for me until i was ready which was june 8th when i got the car. The salesmen and the service department is wonderful. I love the car. I leased a 2015 outback with Eyesight. This feature has a special windshield. Within 1 month the windshield cracked in the right lower corner while sitting in the driveway. I went online and read that many other people had experienced the same problem with this windshield. In trying to get it replaced, both Ira and Subaru refused to acknowledge there was any problem with the windshield despite bringing them all the articles on-line about it. They said it would take awhile as there were over 1000 backordered (interesting since there was "no problem"). It took over 4 months to get a windshield and it wasn't even available through Subaru. I had to pay for it myself. Ira treated me like I was a bother. They offered no assistance in the process. About 4 months later, I got a letter from Subaru saying the windshields had been recalled for spontaneous breaking. I had to show proof I had paid to have the windshield replaced on my own. No apology from anyone, just more work on my part. Now the gas tank release doesn't work (have to open it with the edge of a credit card). I told them about it 2 months ago and they said they needed to order the part (another problem with this model vehicle) and would call me when it was in. Never heard back from them. Called today and apparently it has been sitting there - no calls to notify me. Inconvenienced again for a flaw with the vehicle. No loaner cars, will shuttle you within 4 miles (not helpful). read more

Hi. I had heard various things about IRA in the past, and, as a woman thinking about buying a new car, hesitated to look there. I wanted to check out the Subaru Outback specifically and the Danvers location looked the better option (compared to 128, for example). I was ready to get into a vehicle easier to enter than my beloved old Saab, a car with very good visibility and affordability. After driving the Outback, I wasn't convinced. I then tried the Forester and was suitably impressed. The salesman Manny was pretty low key -- a trait I appreciate. There wasn't a lot of going back-and-forth-with-the-manager business which some other dealers repeat. By the time I tried the Forester, I had driven quite a few other cars and had a good sense of what I wanted. Perhaps that made it easier to deal, I don't know but it was pretty painless. I have had the car serviced there since it was purchased in 2015 and been very satisfied with those experiences. So, end result, is positive. read more

Overall my experience was great. That being said, if Mike the sales manager was the first person I encountered, this dealership would not have gotten my business. I live in an area where I can get to four different Subaru dealerships within 30 minutes, but I opted to take the hour long trek up to Ira based on the inventory they had online. The car I ended up purchasing (a 2011 Legacy) was really the best deal I could find in the area, and I was told the price of the car was greatly reduced and would soon be returned to auction. They weren't very willing to negotiate a deal, but I didn't put up much of a fight since I already thought I was getting a good value. I was able to talk my trade in price up a few hundred dollars, although it was still a lower price than I would have liked. Ted was my salesman and I had a pleasant experience working with him. There was no pressure at all and he was sure to explain all the necessary details without patronizing me, which as a young female, was a nice change of pace compared to most other dealerships. Even after all the paperwork was signed, Ted was sure to explain everything to me before I left the dealership. He was a little difficult to get a hold of via phone/email, but they were also in the process of switching buildings, so I don't hold it against him. Now, for the sales manager. He made no effort whatsoever to make sure I had a good experience. He shook my hand when I first walked into his office, but never smiled or gave me the impression that he valued my business. As expected, he really tried to push me to buy the extended warranty with financing through them, saying he "highly recommended it" more times than I could count on one hand. He wasn't upfront about telling me what my approved interest rate was- I had to ask. It was 2% higher than an approved rate I had through a credit union. So naturally I declined his "highly recommended" offer, at which point he essentially kicked me out of his office. I tried to ask what my next steps would be, and he wasn't very helpful or willing to answer my questions. He then proceeded to pick up my folder of paperwork and walk it over to the salesman's desk while leaving me sitting in his office. I eventually gathered my things and walked out (as he was returning to his office) only to find out that I still needed to sign all my forms with him! Again, if he was the first person I dealt with, they would not have gotten my business. I think others are likely to have a great experience here, but I would stay away from Mike. read more

I brought the car in today to get a weather guard, and the dealership (a) didn't have the part they verified they'd have for me when I made the appointment because it was in stock, and (b) kept me waiting 2+ hours to tell me that. It's not like we might need those cars to get to other appointments in the day. So, I went and sought the person handling my car out. The dealership is the only place you can go for one of those particular car parts. I called 3 places to verify that fact, since I wanted to avoid returning to the dealer if possible. Especially after a previous bad experience at that location earlier this year, but, due to the location, and the fact it had been several months, I made the appointment at my nearest location on 114. My 1st mistake. They told me over the phone that it would be about 1 1/2 hour wait while the car got worked on. After going in and explaining what I was there for, the guy asked if there was anything else, so, I mentioned the oil change. He took a look at his notes, showed me towards the waiting area, and told me that someone would be out to tell me 'shortly' about whether they had the part or not-which I thought was weird, and said so, but the response was "we just want to be sure". When no one sought me out after 20 minutes, I figured they found the parts and were starting work. My 2nd mistake. After 1 1/2 hour, I figured they might need details about what I needed for my oil change and starting to get anxious because I needed to leave within the next hour to get to work on time...at 2 hours 10 min, I got up and sought out the person handling the car. He told me he was about to come find me because "they can't find the part, but they found about $5000 of repairs and he thought I should save my money for that instead". I told him my car had just passed inspection a month ago. He then showed me a freaking booklet of the things that are "'wrong" or "immediately dangerous". So, after showing me the paperwork, I asked why someone had gone to the trouble of finding out what was 'wrong' with my car but no one could be troubled keeping me updated as to what was going on-perhaps once an hour at least? The idiot's actual words were "I was just about to come get you! At Subaru we pride ourselves on our complementary inspections, so, when we had your car up there..." I told him I'd get a 2nd opinion and asked what my total was for the oil change, and he said they didn't perform one. So, I spent almost 3 hours doing absolutely nothing, for absolutely no reason, and, I haven't noticed ANY of the problems mentioned in the paperwork. From here on out, Belmont or Wilmington locations will get my business if a dealership must be involved. The Peabody dealership was just closer and therefor "more convenient for work" and, 2 years ago, were staffed with excellent employees. Right now, I wish there was a category for .25 stars. Would not recommend Ira Motorgroup for car sales, this was the worst experience ever and it continues... Purchased a 2008 Xterra. Several things including a cracked windshield were suppose to be fixed prior to delivery. Nothing was and several standard items are missing from the truck. Called, emailed and even went to the dealership to see my salesperson Gene D'allesandro to get resolution but I have yet to receive a return call to correct the issues. They got my money and as soon as I drove off the lot, they could no longer care. None of the items were big dollars either and Ira owns 2 Nissan dealerships so the cost would be minimal to them. It's incredibly frustrating and time consuming trying to get any satisfaction. Terrible customer service and now I have to fight my battle in court for a lousy couple of dollars. They couldn't even give me an owners manual so I could learn how to work the radio! read more

My wife and I arrived at IRA Subaru to look at used cars to let my wife decide what she wanted for her next vehicle. We advised the sales person Maria that we were NOT looking to purchase today just wanted to look. She wanted us to come inside and sign papers BEFORE she would unlock a car for us to even LOOK inside. After telling her 3 times we would not do that she finally relented and went to find the keys so we could look inside. decided to test drive 2 different cars one a Ford Explorer which she freely explained she had zero knowledge about, I can understand I am not a Ford expert because we don't move many of these. The second was a Subaru which she had more knowledge about, and driving back in in the Subaru before we could even explain that we had seen 2 others on the lot we wanted to look at she was trying to get us to park in front of the showroom so she could put a sold sign on a vehicle we didn't want. The third we test drove a Jeep Compass was newly processed and when we went to drive that one it was below empty. Luckily WE noticed this and Maria was able to get a gas card LUCKILY we made it to the gas pump as the car literally shut off because it was out of gas. The last one we drove was a Honda Pilot 2010 w/100203 mile listed for $19,995 ($500) over blue book we liked the car and despite the fact we had gone in with the intention of not buying we went inside to "talk numbers" after 15 minutes sitting alone at Maria's desk she returns and the offer was for $18,977and the trade in estimate for my wife's car which was NOT there was $2400 less than the trade in value on KBB. At this point I said no thanks and walked out. My wife stayed at Maria's insistence and the next number their "final before 5pm or it goes away" number was only 1000 less. As I am sitting out front waiting for my wife the manager comes out to ask me what the problem was and after I tell him his response is those are great numbers and I just don't know what the vehicle is worth. The parting shot is from Maria, " I spent 4 hours with you you have to buy this from me"?????. The next day I get a phone call from Maria asking if we have changed our minds because I guess we don't know how to read? The best part I advised Maria that my wife works 12 hour nights and calling my house at noon is like me calling her at midnight, so she tells me no problem and makes a BIG NOTE on the paper DO NOT CALL ( this was just 24 hours before she ... Horrible service!!! Went for first check up, less than 5500 miles. Said they needed to change oil and do tire rotation. Seriously? I take the train to work, how much wear could there have been? I asked for them to give me a paint sample because someone dinged my door. The car was done in 15 minutes, no lie. No paint sample, no cleaning as they say they do and how do you rotate all four tires in that time frame. Called last evening which is about a month and a half later because I was driving home from the train station and it all of a sudden sounded like all the medal under my 4 month old car was scrapping together. They told me that I should drive it in si they could look, are you kidding me? So I could possibly do more damage to it? I said that I could not drive it, they told me to call the towing service which I did and then told me I would have to wait for a loaner car till the morning. Never even looked at it last night or called me. The customer service woman called me this morning and said that they do not loan cars, seriously? When I asked when it would be looked at she said she did not know, they would call me! I have a job that I have to go to too you know! Once they sell you the car they do not give a shit! I also told her that I had an auto starter put in before I picked it up. She said they had no record of that! I am nervous that it is going to come out worse than when it went in!!!! Brought my Subaru forester 2005 LL Bean edition in to be serviced. Head gasket timing belt, front end linkage and bushings were all recommended... Had them perform all the work. Now my A.C Leaks all over the place. Engine sputters, and the heat shield rattled like no tomorrow so I brought it back. They claimed to have fixed their work... They fixed nothing... It is now back in the shop again because last night the new linkage (they recommended and installed) almost fell right out of the car on the highway yesterday... Someone must have had a holiday and forgot that bolts need tightening... Had another mechanic look at their work and he pointed out that the head gasket is still passing all over the place do to an "improper instalation" Fingers crossed they can actually get it right the third time around. But I could say at all my experiences at this Dealers mechanic have left me wanting anyone I know to pay for this type of service. Be advised. You don't exactly get what you pay for here.... read more

I was completely turned off by my experience with this dealership. I corresponded with a salesperson online for a week and ended up with a quote which was almost $1,800.00 less than the quote I had from another dealer. I made an appointment to see Melissa, the manager. When my husband and I arrived, someone announced to her that we were there. She never looked up to even greet us. She just told a salesman to take care of us. Of course we were told that the price we were given by email was wrong and it would be another $900.00 plus. They were very abrupt and unfriendly. it didnt seem like they wanted our business. Although their price was still less than the other dealer, we were very unhappy with the rudeness of the staff and the whole experience. We left and will never return there or recommend to anyone. We ended up going back to our original dealer where they matched Ira's price with no hassle and No rudeness. read more

So I went in here to test drive a 2011 subaru legacy 2.5i premium. I scheduled an appointment via the telephone, and then about 30 minutes later someone called me back to confirm my appointment. Thanks, I know, I just scheduled it. So I went in there with my boyfriend. Our salesperson was a kid who had just graduated high school (yes I was older than the person trying to sell me a $18k car, which to me is a bit odd). He took a copy of my license and we went to test drive the car. It was a decent car. It had low miles, was listed for around $18k, had a sunroof, the "winter" package, heated seats, and it seemed to be in decent condition. I do particularly like the organization and look of the interior of the legacy, though I thought the cup holders looked a little useless. It felt good driving it, fortunately it had snowed a bit and it was slushy out so I was able to test the AWD. Personally, I've driven FWD cars in the wonderful New England snowy weather and haven't had a problem. I didn't feel as though the AWD really made much of a difference, so I wasn't really sold on that. Afterwards, we went back inside and my boyfriend and I sat at the salesperson's desk while he basically played messenger boy back and forth between us and the manager. The first price layout he came back with listed my trade in (a 2005 Honda Accord EX-L with 115k miles) for $2,500. Ha! I laughed and immediately said umm, hell no. I'm not trading in my Honda for any less than $3,500. So he went back to his manager who then bumped it up to $3,000. In between him playing messenger boy, we sat at his desk for at least 30 minutes each time. The longest he stayed at his desk talking to us was probably 3 minutes. So I said no again to the $3,000 and he went back to his manager. In between all of this he kept coming back to the desk with information about the warranty and all this other crap as if I was actually going to buy the car. So finally someone more experienced than him came over with him with a price listing that had stamped on it "final" and valued my trade in at $3,000 still. The guy said "oh, please sign at the bottom" and I said no. I'm not okay with this monthly payment, I am not trading in my Honda for that little amount of money, and truth be told I have a better deal on the table at another car dealership for a nicer car with 11k less miles on it, with more added features such as a back up camera, and the other dealership is willing to give me $4,500 for my trade it. And at this point I'm thinking: and I didn't sit at their dealership for 3 hours! So the guy gives me his typical salesman crap in which he basically said "well I don't have a lot of extra spending money in this vehicle because it's listed price is so low" but basically because I was ready to walk out he said he'd try to get my trade in higher and "see what he could do for me." I was in a rush to get out of there as I hadn't anticipated sitting at a car dealership for 3 hours, so when he finally came back he could only get my trade in up to $4,000. And he tries giving me that pity crap about "oh this kid works so hard, he really deserves this sale" - no offense, but I don't care. I'm the one being screwed in the end buying a used car, you all profit from this so don't give me that pity b.s. And in my opinion, that kid needs a significant amount of training (e.g. not leaving customers sitting for 30 minutes at a time, shouldn't try having people sign paperwork on an amount they hadn't even discussed, shouldn't be having people sign b.s. warranty paperwork when they haven't even agreed to buy the car, etc.) and he shouldn't be selling cars yet on his own. So my boyfriend and I left. I had such a sour taste in my mouth after leaving that dealership it was awful. So then the next day the kid calls me to tell me the Subaru sold to someone else but to please let him know if there was anything else I'd like to look at. No thanks. Anyways. I bought a nice 2011 Kia Optima with a premium package, 17k miles, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated and AC seats, heated rear seats, and in a nice beautiful red with beige leather interior for $18.5k. I am SO glad I didn't buy from Ira Subaru. read more

Recently had my brakes repaired at Ira. For over 20 years, I've bought cars there and stopped doing service there because of a bad experience. Last amonth, When I arrived, the service person kept trying to upsell me and suggested I wait to find out about what was needed for my car. I waited 90 minutes and finally was told what I needed, again upselling. I mentioned I did have a meeting at 3. I waited another 90 minutes for the service to be completed. When the service person came to me, she said she just had to fill out the paperwork. She then chatted with a group nearby about their hometown and people they knew. When I finally sat down with the service person, she had to call the service dept and had something taken off my bill that was never ordered. When I received a recent survey from IRA, I filled out a bad review and never heard back. I'm considering buying a new car, but won't be going to IRA for the first time in 20 years read more

This review is in regards to the sales consultant who handled my leased 2014 Subaru Crosstrek. Greg provided exceptional customer service. A number of loved ones have owned Subaru, and I always liked driving my father's Outback. Still, when I started looking at lease options, I looked at a number of other makes/dealerships and test drove vehicles several times. Upon entering Ira Subaru, Greg introduced himself - he immediately presented as friendly and relaxed. I cannot stand aggressive sale types, so I was very pleased that during my several test drives, he mostly allowed the car to speak for itself. He understood that I didn't have much time during the week so my research time was extended. Never once did I feel pressured to make a decision (at least not by him). He took his time going through two models and various trim options with me, and once I had decided on the Crosstrek, patiently explained all of the features inside the car. If you want a respectful car buying/leasing experience that doesn't involve being condescended to, or feeling like you need to take a shower afterwards, ask for GREG! :) read more

Excellent buying experience. Straightforward info, painless negotiation, lots of little customer service extras (little things like helping to remove the old car's parking sticker, rushing the registration process, reaching out to me to pay the new car's inspection which I did not even know was part of the deal). Joe was easy to work with, not pushy or abrasive at all. I'll highlight perhaps an under-recognized quality that I really appreciated about him: when he did not know an answer to a question I had about the car, he just told me he did not know-- nobody knows everything, so I'll take honesty and accuracy any day over seemingly comprehensive knowledge with bits of BS thrown in. For many of us, big purchases are stressful-- these guys did a good job of making it straightforward as possible, and I left with a great Forester at a great price. Very satisfied, and I plan to return when my wife's car gives out in the next couple years. Thanks! read more

I had a great experience during the original buying experience. The salesperson was straight-forward, friendly, and simplified the process. I put down a deposit and was told that the title would be available in the next few days (within the week) at which point I could pick up my car. Over a week later, I still had not heard any update so I called and was told that they did not know why the title was not in and they did not know when it would be. Two weeks after making my deposit, I called several times leaving messages with various employees (management, sales, finance, etc.). I got no responses. The next day I left more messages, only one of which was returned. I was told that the title was being held at the bank and that this was known from the beginning (at the time of my deposit). Also, it was estimated that it would be another two weeks before I would be able to pick up my car. I was told to think over my options and call back. Since then, I have called back every day for several days leaving messages and have yet to receive any response. It has been over two weeks and I am incredibly frustrated with the service I am receiving. At the very least, I would expect a loaner car to be made available to me since it appears I will be without a car for a month or so. read more

Experience completely ruined by a rude and unprofessional General Sales Manager by the name of Melissa Wilson. She went out of her way a month after we purchased our new vehicle to call my husband to berate him. She said that SHE was angry because we had given her dealership a "shitty review"-actually used those words! The only negative aspect of the review was for the excessively long wait. We had completed the majority of the sale via fax but their finance dept. kept us captive so that they could try to sell us GAP insurance, extended warranty, etc. Which we had already politely declined by email when he initially sent it. When you go through the trouble of doing everything prior to avoid an extended wait, it was simply an inconvenience. We will never return and certainly not for service. Avoid this dealership for their lack of professionalism and discretion. What a terrible way to treat a customer that just gave you $22K in business. read more

Caveat: I don't make a habit of writing reviews, this situation just drove me to it. Worst service department experiences ever. The latest: My car (less than 2 yrs old, less than 20k miles) was towed to them on the weekend because it wouldn't start. Roadside assistance guy said it had to be the fuel pump. After confirming it was my car on monday AM I never heard from them for the rest of the day. So, I call and they tell me they didn't get a chance to look at it. No apology. It gets better (or worse). Next day mid-morning they tell me it started so I can pick it up. I ask, did you look at the fuel pump or check anything out. Nope. So then they tell me they'll run a diagnostic, etc.. I head nothing from them, so I call at night. This is what they tell me: Ma'am there is no diagnostic that can be run, we'd have to take the fuel pump out and that's a big job - and its not covered under the warranty. Excuse me? You told me you were going to do just that early in the day. The conversation went no where. And they didn't apologize - in fact the whole time they were very dismissive. They did offer to let me keep the car there over night again to see if it started the next day. Um... no, I've been without my car now for 3 days and you don't to actually look at it - so I'll pick it up. I guess I can look forward to being stranded somewhere on the road with my kids the next time it won't start. I certainly won't be going back to these idiots the next time I buy a car, and I hope I don't have to go back for any warranty service. read more

Awful customer service. I called to verify whether a used car was still for sale, and "scheduled" to come in for a test-drive 3 hours later. I informed them I was coming from an hour away. They happily said they would have the car ready for me when I arrived. When my girlfriend and I arrived, a salesman had no idea who we were - with no record that I had called in ahead of time. Another salesman walks by and says he just sold the car I was scheduled to come in and look at. When we acted surprised, he muttered, "Hey, I'm just the salesman" as he walked away.My girlfriend and I went outside to leave, but I came back in to offer them a chance to earn back my business. I spoke to the sales manager Melanie, telling her that I was disappointed in their lack of customer service. I told her that it would have been common courtesy to inform me that the car was being sold before I arrived, so that I wouldn't have made the trip for nothing. Melanie proceeded in explaining that they don't hold cars (which I understand), but went on to give excuses that they called to confirm my appointment (just 15 minutes after I called and scheduled the test drive) and that I never called back (although she only left a voicemail confirming the appointment and to call if I couldn't make it). She told me she had stepped out to pickup her lunch and the car was sold (which I don't know why was important) also then admitted that I didn't matter if I confirmed, or scheduled anything. She also admitted that the individual who purchased the car, walked in just after I had called, and spent 2 hours contemplating the purchase..which is more than enough time to call and update someone that the car was being "worked" as she called it. She also told me she didn't like that I was saying "I don't like the way she runs her business", which I had never even said. She then backtracked and told me "I inferred that by my statements". Apparently, telling the dealership that a phone call is common courtesy and offering them a chance to earn back my patronage is telling them they do bad business. To top things off, another salesman, not part of our conversation, rudely asked "In the 12-9 range?" while looking at Melanie, but apparently addressing me. When I looked at him, surprised for a moment, I asked "Are you asking me?". Melanie, the sales manager, says, "Yes, he's asking you a question." I respond, "Well, you weren't looking at me, so I didn't know". The salesman then looks at me and says "I was looking right at you.". I tell him that he wasn't, and that he was looking at someone else. He holds a hand up and says "Whatever" and began to continue.. That's when I said "Okay, thank you." .....And walked out the door.
