My Rayban sunglasses went missing after taking my car to this shop. I also asked them to check and do my brakes for me. They said they were fine and I didn't need to do anything and that screeching sound they make will go away maybe when it rains. I took my car to a different shop because I almost hit someone on the freeway because my brakes weren't stopping good enough and there was sudden traffic. This new shop told me I had about 7,000 miles left AT MOST and that my brakes are completely rusted out and need to be redone as soon as possible. I trusted this shop (IRC) to take care of me and instead they did a half-assed job and had me really believing my brakes were fine until I nearly almost crashed. I'm a young girl who doesn't really know a lot and this is my first car, if you don't know about cars do not go here or you will get scammed. Go to Tire Center on Manzanita Ave. It's ran by two brothers and they were the ones to actually tell me my brakes we really bad and described how it must be hard to come to a stop at higher speeds and I was like YUP! EDIT/RESPONSE: I do find it strange that the day I dropped my car off is the last time I had my glasses in my car, I have searched everywhere high and low for those glasses since then and the amount of time your employees have been with you literally means nothing to me. But I don't care it's just a material item and maybe one of you guys really needed some nice shades. Anyways, when I took my car to you guys I mentioned the screeching sound and the not great braking, you should have looked at the rotors, the calipers, the brake fluid AND the hydraulic system- not just seen there was sufficient brake padding there and went "oh that sound and the poor braking, don't worry about it kid they're fine..." like hello??? There's no way my hydraulic system was good when I brought it to you with that sound and the way it was braking but OK. I can't believe you didn't even have the decency to tell me that they were rusted lol. read more

Once again, we must leave a great review for the team at IRC. They were stumped with what was causing our 2014 Camry to lose Freon (or whatever they put in the ACs nowadays). They deduced wit was likely a certain part that month he would have to pull out the entire dash. It was definitely a costly job. But we need AC in this car and we need this car to last us several more years, so we had to go with it. To be clear I also called my parents mechanic up in Cameron Park who specializes on Toyotas. I described everything we were dealing with and he said "I'd love to have your business, but it really sounds like you're getting good advice at the Mechanic you're seeing down there." I appreciated that. We had no reason to think we were not getting good advice on IRC, but when you have a big ticket item it's foolish to not make a couple phone calls. In the end they pull the entire dash out and we're still struggling to figure out what was going on with the air conditioner. They gave it a lot of time. Ultimately they decided it was a part that was not beneath the dash assembly. So they did not charge us the costly fee that they had estimated us because they Work wasn't in there after all. It was still a pretty pricey repair, but we felt very fairly cared for. They did not charge us for recharging the AC so they could continue to try to find the leak. We came in about $300 less than the original estimate. They were honest, kind, and they worked quickly. They had to keep the car for a couple of days because it was such a puzzle, but I can't follow them for that because they were upfront about everything. We started bringing our cars to them a few years ago. It started with my son's old Honda Ridgeline. They took good care of us then and have done so again now. I was having some issues with the AC on my car. They answered quickly, and got me in immediately. Checked my whole AC system, cleaned, replaced, topped up. They made the time to talk to me about what they saw, what needed work. They also cleaned my vents out, disinfected the ducts. Getting back in my car I swear the air felt lighter. It's been quite a while since I had been to IRC and my good friend Tim from radial tire (highly recommend these guys as well for anything tire related) reminded me about "Jim at IRC" and where they are located. Today, they replaced an oil pressure switch on my 2016 Ram Big Horn and the final cost ended up being cheaper than the original quote! I have a 2005 toyota 4 runner with over 280k miles and have ONLY allowed one shop in this country to work on it. I thought had my AC die during a 103 degree day and I desperately and most reluctantly knew I could not take it to my regular shop that is located in the desert southwest. Fantastic shop. I was referred to them to add security measures to my Prius after the theft of a catalytic converter. They did the job for a reasonable price and even showed me what they were doing under my car. My 2010 Ford was towed here because they claimed to be AAA certified, a day later they only replaced a fuse and charged my wife over $200, when the vehicle died again 2 days after it was returned and died in the exact same manner it was taken to them the first time, they refused to look over their work or correct it and stoped communicating with my wife, took the vehicle somewhere else and turned out the feul pump needs to be replaced. Why bother being a mechanic shop if you can't do the job right the first time. read more

I went to get serviced because my steering was feeling really clicky. They replaced a small rubber gear that was causing the issue and did a good job fixing it, however I do feel that they weren't completely transparent in their pricing and diagnostic checks. They didn't tell me up front before I let them look at my car that there would be a fee for the diagnostic, which was $185 - pretty steep if you ask me. It's not necessarily about the price, but rather the transparency. They were nice enough to waive the diagnostic fee, but I still felt that was a little fishy. They also charged an exorbitant amount for the labor to get the part replaced (a little over $400, and the part itself cost about $5), as well as for my transmission fluid being replaced (around $500) and other break/coolant fluid needing to be cleaned and a cabin filter to be replaced. Total came out to around $1500. Reception was also a little slow and not as communicative as I would've preferred, but that's just a personal preference. All due respect, I won't be taking my car there again, nor would I recommend most people getting it serviced there, especially for an oil change. I can get a full synthetic oil change at Walmart for $60. Lastly, I will say they were very nice and respectful. They have a good attitude towards their customers, which i did appreciate. I just moved to Sacramento last July and since then I have been in search for a new auto shop to bring my car to. I was initially going to a family auto shop back in Stockton and was very pleased with the service and overall quality and care that the place offered me, thus I was on the hunt for a similar business. I have been to both dealerships and independent auto shops and I definitely prefer the latter. Knowing fully that I needed to get my spark plugs replaced, I began calling around for quotes and came across IRC. Over the phone I spoke with Jim and he told me that if I was looking for somewhere cheap then this would not be the place. On that note, I told him that I am just looking for a place that will take good care of my car that will not be as costly as going to a dealership. I got a quote that was at a very reasonable price (and by that I mean IMMENSELY more affordable than the quote I received from the dealership) and scheduled my car for its spark plug and oil change. Come the day of, I was pleasantly greeted by the family dog, Tiki, and at that point I knew I was going to like the place. Not only did they have a dog, but the service was top notch. I always prefer interacting with family businesses as it is clearly evident that they put their heart and soul into the establishment and It very much shows with IRC. I initially called IRC for a quote on a starter replacement. Whereas all the other repair centers simply quoted a price, Jim took a full five minutes out of his day to discuss and fully understand the issue I was having. After going through the symptoms, we both agreed that the replacement wasn't necessary, and Jim asked for nothing in return for his good will. IRC does great work and they can be trusted hands down. The first time I remember going in was to have my wife's "drilled into" gas tank replaced. They looked me up in their system and saw that I had brought my Honda Accord in their shop when I was in high school about 12 years previous. I now bring in both my tacoma and my wife's Jeep. Today I contacted them asking about switching out my wife's dead headlamp. They said just to bring it by and they would take care of it. I ended up getting my tires rotated at my tire shop so they took care of it for me there. At first you may think this is a very routine task but, while trying to rehabilitate my left hand from an injury at the moment it is vey difficult for me so it really means a lot to me. I have a 2009 Camry with 119k on it and I have only changed the oil, rotated the tires and replaced the front brakes. The car really needed a good inspection. The car ran rough at idle and seemed louder than normal while on the freeway. I took it to Jim this week and his inspection found a number of issues that would have clearly added risk to me and my daughter had they not been caught and repaired. Jim was great about showing me visibly what the issues were, knowing that I have a mechanical background (years ago, I was also a car mechanic). I've had the car back a few days now and can't believe how much better it drives. The idle is now silky smooth and freeway driving is excellent. I am very impressed with Jim's attention to both detail and customer service, and he came highly rated from another technician whom I have seen for years. I really wanted to like this place, mostly because the owners are extremely nice. Sorry to say I will not be coming back. Ridiculously over priced!!! I can't imagine how the other reviews say they are great with prices. They wanted to charge me $700 to flush out three fluids in my car. Quoted me $800 to replace my headlight bulbs. These prices are outrages. I did pay $450 which I still think they took advantage of me. I left that place thinking I hope they did not take advantage of me because I'm a girl? I really hope that's not the case. Even dough I know car shops are notorious for doing this. Never coming back. Luckily a friend from work recommended I go to Auto Stop on Stockton Blv. Had to get a smog for my F250 here and they were very accommodating and got me in the next day! Very nice, chatted while I waited and even hung out with their two dogs. Not sure if the fur babies are there all the time but they are sweet. The smog check was completed quickly. If I need auto Maintenace I will definitely come here first. Since 1995 I have been using this shop and I WILL NOT GO ELSEWHERE in Sacramento (I tried a couple of other local shops prior and was not satisfied. One changed my license plate frame to give them FREE advertising) I came to IRC due to a co-worker's recommendation and I haven't left. During 1984 -1995 I used to drive from Modesto and Sacramento to Chico to have my car serviced. I asked that agency about IRC and they gave it a thumbs UP for the Sacramento Area. Since '95 I have used this shop for ALL my family's HONDA cars since then: An Accord EX, and three Civics. So very seldom can one find an honest car repair center. I was lucky in Chico, CA. and found one again in Sacramento with IRC. I have read all the prior reviews back to 6/21/2012 and they mirror my experience over the past 19 years. read more

My friend brought in a vehicle for repair, and later found out by another mechanic rags were left in engine. This mistake caused us a lot of headaches, time, and money. We stopped by the shop and explained to the lady there the situation, she was very nice and understanding. When Jim arrived and after explaining it to him he wanted to take advantage of my friend, who has an intellectual disability. Jim was offering much less than what we paid for the engine alone. When I tried advocating for my friend, Jim started yelling and cursing. We were not going to waste our time on childish behavior. We told him if we can't come up with an agreement we'll see you in court and left. As we were walking out Jim said " I'm happy that bitch is gone" Mr. Jim we suggested you remove your sign " enter as strangers leave as friends" because clearly it's not true. We came to Jim and Lorry at IRC to get our AC unit in our car fixed. No one else that we've taken the car to had been able to do and just kept giving us more freon or adjusting the oil pressure. Now, upon initial inspection, Jim and his team thought it was the condenser causing the problem. They replaced our filthy, bent condenser. However, while that mildly improved our AC unit, it didn't fix the problem That was, honestly, frustrating, because we just paid to replace something that didn't fix the problem. However, Jim was determined to fix the problem and provide us with excellent service. They would send someone to come get my car so that I didn't have to come out there every time (it took several diagnostic sessions to verify the problem), which really helpful, especially since I have a baby. Anyway, at the end of the day, they had to replace the compressor, but Jim didn't charge us for the additional freon or all the diagnostics. Anyway, I really appreciate all their hard work! And our AC works amazingly now! read more

From my experience, I'd rate this service place HIGHER than 5-star, for sure. This guy Jim {and his dad, I guess} has been in the same spot since the 1970's. VERY knowledgeable about electrical issues like my car warning lights. And you talk about honesty = he could have had my money, but wondered if my car [six years old] may be still under Emissions warranty, got on phone with Subaru, who confirmed that. He turned away money in his pocket, sending me away when I would have had no idea there may be warranty coverage. That,,, you don't find these days.
