If you have a motorhome, this is the place to get your smog test done. They take appointments; it's not just walk-in. That said, service is fast, friendly, and most of all; affordable. They also do Motorhome repairs. A good question to ask any shop that says they work on RVs is asking them the height of their doors. If they don't have at least 15 feet of clearance at their garage, chances are they can only work on smaller RVs and not Class As. I called and went to 3 different smog shops that said they worked on motorhomes. Yeah; define "motorhome." Next time I'll ask up front how big their bags are before I drive across town. This shop is on the Arden fair area, east of business 80, where a lots of Trailer and TV sales and service shops are. Highly recommended. Had an old vehicle serviced here. Gave them over $3000 to get the thing road worthy. Ended up with a new water pump that promptly leaked and I had to redo myself. It's an old vehicle and took me to realize bolts for the pump needed thread sealant but these guys should have known that too. Truck also needed injectors but shop didn't notice that. Other challenge was how long it took to get this done. Four months. Way too long. Probably will look to try someone else next time. Nice people but I think they're biting off more business than they can reliably service. read more

I'm a fair guy always giving the other party a fair shake. I honestly don't know how this is a five star establishment. I think the part owner jay is a crook, I dropped my 69 olds to have windows realigned I waited a month to get a appointment thinking when I bring it in it would be addressed but how wrong was I two weeks passed no call to give me a update. So I had to call and spoke with Lenny he said they are working on parts I said ok. Two more weeks pass and no call or update I call again and talked to the secretary and she tells me she just got list of parts and going to start hunting them down. been a month already so I go in the shop and my car Just sitting with all parts all over my back seat sharp objects from my door panels just put on my seats not wrapped up safely so it doesn't damage my interior. Mind you when I first dropped off my car I told Lenny what was wrong with it. there diagnosis was exactly what I told Them just with parts needed that they already knew so them saying there going to charge me for opening my panels to see already what I told them what was wrong is just KRAZY I told them I just want my car back it's been over a month they said let us just put it back how you dropped it off I payed $460 dollars for them to hold my Car hostage and have me Pay that fee witch I believe is highway robbery. I know they did this before because when I complained Jay the part owner says" well you got to pay what you signed for and I got the key" Not I'm sorry what can we do to make it right. He blamed Lenny that wasn't there saying. I shouldn't of signed the deal with Lenny. Wow unbelievable this guy jay you think is a shark. So don't go here there going to make you sign a agreement for a Bunch of money and hold your car until your Upset and take it back and get free money for Storring your car there. I've had a backyard mechanic replace all kinds of parts but the old problem still came around. Check engine light on. Upon picking up my car from Modern Classic, Shannon had forgotten to tell the mechanics that I wanted my windshield wipers replaced so I waited an additional 40 minutes. The communication on the whole was the worst I've ever experienced with a business. They had my car for two weeks for a rear main seal leak, a few gas and oil leaks, and a fresh battery replacement. I called about every three or four days to figure out what the status was on my car and my inquiries were met with elusive and seemingly dishonest answers from Shannon and Lenny. I didn't feel comfortable with the complete lack of communication on their end. As I waited while my wipers were being replaced, Lenny told me that I needed to go straight to a gas station because the amount I had left wasn't even enough to get me the nine mile back home. I was a little surprised that this was a problem. I personally would have put a gallon in for my customer. The following rainy morning, my windshield wiper came off. That was a bit upsetting, but things got worse when my dashboard battery light turned on while driving on the freeway. I called Lenny to express my overall disappointment and concern, and he promised to mend the issues on Thursday the following week. 9 AM Thursday the following week he diagnoses I need a new alternator and new axles. He said he's aiming to have the work done by "lunch", but when "lunch" time came around I waited in vain for Lenny's call. I was begging at this point for direct communication. I didn't receive a call at all. By 4PM I give them a call and Shannon says yes, my car is ready if I want to come get it. I did, and upon my arrival, Lenny mentions their supplier shipped the wrong axles. So I paid for the alternator and as I was getting in my car I get a pat on the back by an employee as he chuckled and said "I got those wipers on right this time!" The following rainy morning on New Year's Eve, I start my car, turn on the wipers..... and the wiper blade fell off again. The arm of the wiper scratched my windshield. I was really mad at this point. Modern Classic was closed for the holiday weekend so I resorted to the only local auto shop open. They pointed out to me that the nut and bolt Modern Classic used on the wiper blade that fell off was different from the nut and bolt used on the other wiper blade. I left a voice message for Modern Classic regarding my concern about the work done on my car. The Tuesday following New Year's weekend, without even briefly addressing or even acknowledging any of my concerns, Lenny leaves a voicemail simply stating for me to call him back. I didn't because I figured if the wiper blades were a problematic task for them then I don't want to imagine what else they serviced that's probably going to fall off too. A few days ago my battery light flicked on again in the same manner it did prior to Lenny replacing the alternator. New battery, New alternator, New mechanic. read more

This review is long, long overdue. Yeah, still pissed about it. Modern Classic Auto. Anywhere but here. Ask for tips from the yahoo dishing out fries at the Mickey D's drive-thru... But not these A-holes. Nut shell... Many visits over maybe two years, twice they had my Bronco for over a month. They took, what I would call, a hundred mile joy ride which prompted me to put a gps tracker on it. The second month long+ stay they'd pull it out in the morning, put it back in the shop every afternoon. I waited a full month before calling the B.A.R... and then letting them know. Poof, my Bronco was ready within a day or two. It'd always run a little better for a very short period of time. 'Oh, you need a new carb... you need a new distributor, you need a new coil... you need a new Johnson rod.' A couple thousand blown... An engine blown. Why, you ask... They failed to look at the very first thing, given everything I'd told them, they should have looked at on the very first visit. A 302's mechanical fuel pump. When one is going out, I learned after it'd blown both front and rear main seals on that very last drive... that fuel pump dumps gas into the block. The whole time it was starving for fuel. Period. I'd told them I smelled gas coming from the back... tailpipe. Additionally, I'd pump gas into it at the gas station, it'd want to throw it back out. Something wasn't right, something was clogged. They said they'd checked my fuel lines, vents... it all looked good. Bullshit. When I was under it unbolting the exhaust pipes getting ready for that new engine I spent thousands on... i noticed what was clearly visible, the vent hose bent at a forty-five. In the end, guess what they told me to make me feel better for the shit load of wasted cash, (by the way, this prior to the discovery of the faulty fuel pump), "We fired the long time employee who'd been working on your Bronco." If you look at their yelp reviews, you'll see a positive one from me. They noticed my detailed shitty one and, upon yet another visit, sheepishly asked if I'd remove it. Thinking it'd help in some way to get something done... I did just that. It didn't. There's more... but... ‍ Modern Classic Auto once had a great reputation... I'm guessing the shop was sold or was handed down to... this shit. I don't know. F'em... Oh! My steering... A little questionable. Not tight. A little loose. They blamed it on the position of my springs. Guess what! When I was pulling the engine what was clearly visible was the steering linkage, (appears to be a u-joint), shot. Completely shot. You can't miss it... grab that steering shaft and it shakes back and forth! There was more money pissed away with them F'ing around with the springy things! Epher's All of the above, as stated, long, long overdue. I should have written it back when the shit hit the fan, so to speak. Just so happens someone asked for a classic car repair shop recommendation and, well, I gave him mine... anyplace but here. My opinion. A couple months back i came here for a brake and lamp inspection bc my brother refered them to me. I was having trouble finding a trust worthy shop since the others seems to be having problems of their own and making me come back different days even after scheduling me. Called them for an appointment and got one less than a week from the day I called. Super friendly staff and the wait room was even cooler. An "old soda machine" as decoration. Coffee and water provided. Magazines. Clean environment. The brake and lamp inspection was done in a timely manner. They told us it would take about 45 minutes or an hour (of course it would). Had no problem waiting. Definitely recommend this place. The pricing is a little higher compare to the other places I was planning to go but the service was great and you get what you pay for. :) read more

We took our 1997 Leisure Travel Van - a Dodge 1 ton van conversion essentially, to Lenny's shop based on a recommend from RV Dr. George. It needed a few major repairs, but we were planning a trip to CO at the end of the month, and wanted everything tip top. They did a very thorough job, needing a little over 3 weeks, but we left on our trip feeling very confident in the work they had done. The front end handling on the van was so improved, we were so happy we finally found a shop with the skills and desire to do great work on our older rig. So many places nowadays wont work on rigs older than "pick a capricious number" year. We love our van, its in great shape and plan on keeping it for 2 more decades. I found this place through the DMV as my salvaged car needed a brake and light inspection. After the service I received and the feel I had for this family business, I have been a customer since. They beat any price I get from the chain stores from services to brakes, they educate me about what they are doing to my car, and they make you feel like part of the family. Update - Took them down a notch because last time I went in I felt like a typical business customer. I ain't part of the family no more! They charged me to diagnose whether the battery was bad. Basically, I ended up paying a couple hundred bucks for a new battery, which may have been necessary to rule out an alternator problem but it didn't feel good to end up paying that much for just a new battery. read more

Saw all the good reviews here and couldn't tell if they were gaming yelp or something. Turns out they weren't; they're just that good! My wife and I were on a trip in our RV and lost brakes around Sacramento -- not fun. These guys squeezed us in to an already super tight schedule, and got us back on the road in less than 6 hours. The price is slightly higher than normal (120/hr shop rate for RV work) but they came in a hundred bucks under their estimate, and the brakes work perfectly.
