I'm so glad I found Dr. Grafman!! I had braces in high school. The reason was for overcrowding but the way my orthodontist went about my treatment made me unhappy with my smile ever since. I had 2 teeth extracted before braces so my teeth could be pushed back, then straighten. My smile was pushed so far back in my mouth it looked disproportionate. Fast forward to now (in my late 30s) and finally wanted to do something about it. I had consults with a bunch of different orthodontists to discuss options and ALL told me that there was nothing they could do since I was older and shifting my teeth/bite back to where it was, was not possible now. I should've written this a while back. Dr Grafman is amazing. I went to her with severe gum disease as young adult and decay in my front teeth (caused by the braces & wires I had as a child). I have a huge smile and gives me my confidence which at the time I was losing because of my dental issues. As a kid many years ago I cracked one of my front teeth and went to a local dentist for some bonding. For more than thirty years I've returned to various other dentists who repaired and/or did additional bonding work to the tooth. Dr. Grafman is not only a great dentist, but she is an artist. My issue was that I had a discolored front tooth. Other dentists wanted to crown my tooth even though it is still a healthy tooth. Dr. Grafman was confident that she could get my tooth to match my other teeth by simply bonding the tooth (far less severe than a crown). I opted to get whitening done first which is something that is always recommended before bonding, veneers, crowning, etc. A week later, Dr. Grafman performed the bonding, and as she promised, it matched my teeth! However, after the bonding I felt like my smile was still off. She pointed out that it was because the gum on my other front tooth was not in line with my newly bonded tooth and suggested the gingevectomy. Dr. Grafman actually offerred this to me when I went in for my initial consultation, but I did not see the importance of it until after the bonding. With that said she performed the gingevectomy (completely painless except for the novacaine shot). My teeth and smile look perfect now. Everything she did looks completely natural. My biggest concern was that my teeth would look fake. Rather, my teeth look white, they match perfectly, and no one can tell that my tooth is not natural. read more

Before I get into the amazing experiences and results I have had with Dr. Grafman, it must be said, that she is not only a talented dentist with an incredible eye but also an amazing person to work with! I also never write reviews for anything, but my experience with Dr. Grafman was so wonderful that there was no way I couldn't share it with others! I have had issues with my teeth ever since my teenage years...everything from grinding to TMJ. I have always been uncomfortable with my smile. My teeth always tilted inwards, they were small because of grinding, and my smile was uneven due to an under developed upper jaw. Due to these issues, I have had more retainers and appliances than I can count on two hands. Since I was 16-years-old, I have been to over 10 dentists and orthodontists. I have been told everything from, "You need to have your jaw broken and 'reshaped' in order to correct my problem," to "there's nothing we can do for you." I have been told that Invisalign would SOLVE my issues to then be immediately told by another doctor that Invisalign would do NOTHING for me. Needless to say, when it came to my dental history, I feel like I had been through the ringer and I had almost given up. Enter Dr. Grafman and her optimistic, open mindedness toward my dental situation. After taking a good look at my teeth, Dr. Grafman knew with confidence, exactly what needed to be done to make my mouth and teeth more physically comfortable as well as giving me the added benefit of cosmetically looking 1000 times better. Dr. Grafman explained to me what she would do to my teeth with great clarity. There was no question that I wanted to go ahead with her plan to reconstruct my teeth by building up my teeth using bonding to create height and then building out my teeth to fix my uneven smile and make my top and bottom teeth fall properly, top over the bottom (which they never did before.) My in-office experience could not have been better. It was absolutely pain free, down to the shot of Novocaine I needed in order for her to fill an old filling before beginning the reconstruction. Have you ever heard of a doctor who can shoot you in the mouth with Novocaine without you even feeling it?! Well, it happened! After the Novocaine I actually said, "Did you do it yet?" That's when I knew the procedure would be smooth sailing! Dr. Grafman was able to completely revamp my teeth and smile in a day and a half. Her assistant made me as comfortable as possible by having Netflix playing throughout my entire procedure :-) I was able to watch the entire 2nd season of "Orange is the New Black." The time went by in a flash! Dr. G and her assistant work really well together, are extremely efficient, and I never felt like time was being wasted while I sat in the chair. When I was finished, I legitimately could not believe the results! My teeth looked straight, bright, and beautiful! And not in a "fake" or "Chiclet" looking way which had always worried me. But rather, in a super-model, perfect smile kind of way. Dr. Grafman nailed the color using a combination of different bonding shades- they are definitely white, but not in a fake-looking way. She is truly an artist when it comes to tooth color, shape, and size. When I showed my husband, friends and family, they could not get over the results! So much so, that my mom is already planning to go in for the same procedure sometime soon! Amanda, the office manager, could not be sweeter and easier to work with. She breaks things down in a very easy-to-understand manner and is always willing to speak with me about any questions I have. Dr. Grafman's assistant is also absolutely sweet and willing to do anything and everything to make you comfortable as a patient! I was referred to Dr Grafman by a co worker who has one of the best smiles I have ever seen. Her teeth were super white, super straight, and when she smiled she lit up the room. I was a bit envious of her because my teeth were just the opposite. The biggest problem with smile was my 10x10 gap between my two front teeth that I've hated since I was a child. On top of that, I had a "gummy smile" which meant the majority of my teeth were covered by my gums which made me even more self conscious. I've seen so many dentist over the years and had bad experiences. I almost gave up hope BUT my co worker convinced me to see Dr. Grafman and looking back I'm so happy I did. My initial consultation with Dr. Grafman was very thorough. I told her how I envisioned my perfect smile and she in return explained the treatment I would need to have, which included Invisalign and a gingivectomy. I was happy I didn't have to wear braces, because I already wore them as a teenager and more importantly I'm nearly 30 years old and wanted to be discreet about my transformation. I wore the Invisalign for a little over a year and believe me when I tell you that it works! I no longer have a huge gap and my teeth straightened out beautifully. The gingivectomy, involves Dr. Grafman using a laser to remove gum to expose more of my teeth and that was the icing on the cake because now when I smile you can see my teeth and not just pink gums! Nothing was painful because I was numbed and Dr. Grafman always made sure I was comfortable as she did her magic on me. It may sound cheesy but Dr. Grafman restored my confidence. I've been seeing Dr. Grafman for a while now. The wait is usually not very long and the staff is very pleasant to deal with. I've gotten everything from cleanings to cosmetic work and I have to say she's one of the best! Do not go to this dentist to get your teeth fixed. Dr. Grafman and all dentists for that matter are not qualified to be moving teeth. That is what an orthodontist is for. Orthodontists take extra years of schooling to actually learn how to move teeth safely. Dentists, on the other hand, either take weekend courses or rely on what Invisalign tells them to do. It simply does not compare. After going through Homeoblock appliance therapy with Dr. Grafman, my bite and teeth were severely disfigured. I sought out several opinions from orthodontists, professionals who actually take additional years of training after dental school to learn how to move teeth safely, and they all told me that what this dentist did was negligible and harmful. They told me exactly what I'm writing here, that dentists have no business to be moving teeth because they're not trained to do so. If you don't believe me, go ahead and consult with Dr. Grafman. It'll be clear that she has no idea what she's talking about when it comes to moving teeth. This industry is unfortunately full of snake oil products like the Homeoblock and DNA appliance. All they do is tip your teeth. If you want to actually treat your malocclusion, go see an actual orthodontist. You'll save your time and teeth. read more

I first started going to Dr. Grafman for bonding. After grinding my teeth for so many years I had worn down my front teeth. She completely built up my entire mouth. After that, it took a year of convincing me to choose implants, but I can now say it was absolutely the BEST decision I made. Dr. Grafman is an incredible visionary when it comes to the structural and visual improvement of a smile. Outside of doing general dentistry, her cosmetic work is outstanding. After moving to NYC I had a difficult time finding a trustworthy dentist. Not only has Dr. Grafman earned my trust but her office staff are knowledgeable and very pleasant to work with. Dr. Graftman is more than just the ordinary dentist who cares for your oral health, she cares about her patients and her bedside manner is incredibly personable. She picked up on numerous health issues I have had in the past (TMJ, muscle pain, etc.) and was able to explain clearly how my bite affects these issues. Dr. Grafman is a great dentist except she recommends numerous treatments that you may or may not need including fillings and Invisalign. She performs good work but similar to other dentists you will magically appear to have cavities in your x-rays that you didn't know were there. I never had a cavity in my life before I went to her for a routine cleaning. I now have fillings and other work that I may not have needed. I appreciate and trust Dr. Grafman's honesty when it comes to the health of my teeth and mouth. She always has my best interests at heart with whatever she recommends. I also appreciate that the office runs on schedule...and that they respect my time. They manage to run an efficient operation...but I never feel rushed when I get there. Dr. Grafman takes her time with me and allows enough time for procedures plus time to "socialize" and find out what is going on with me personally and how that could be impacting my dental health. This place is great. I would tell them that Dr. Grafman first is a woman...and how nice it is to go to a female dentist who understands women and who is attractive...as a woman, why would I want to go to some old guy? Second, I would tell them that her father was a dentist and that her grandfather was a dentist...so she comes from a family that really understands dental health. Then I would tell them that she is an NYU grad...one of the best dental schools...and that she continually keeps up with the latest in dentistry and patient comfort and that's why she has such a modern practice. Finally, I would tell them about all the work she's done for me...from porcelain onlays to cosmetic bonding and how each procedure has been a success. And I'd also tell them that her offices are immaculate and that she is all about patient comfort...from the amenities she provides to her "chairside manner.". The experience at Dr. Grafman's has always been excellent and is like night and day vs. my previous dentist. My former dentist was in Rockefeller Center...you would expect at that location that it would be great...but the office was cold, run-down and all the equipment looked like something from my childhood. The Dr. Grafman experience is just superior overall...superior work, a more intelligent approach, and an environment that is both warm and welcoming but completely up to date at the same time. Out of five stars, Smile Health Spa is off the charts at a 10. When you walk in the door, you are greeted by Amanda at the front desk. She is so friendly, knowledgeable, laid back and peaceful. She somehow finds a way of just making things easier. If I was hiring a personal assistant, I would be begging Amanda to be mine. Then there is Anna, the dental hygienist. If you get a cleaning with Anna, you feel like your teeth miraculously got whiter and brighter by two shades. Just when you think it can't get much better you will sit in Dr. Grafman's chair and any and all dental concerns begin to vanish as she finds simple solutions to your most complicated and obscure problems. She has fixed things for me that I didn't even know were possible. After working with her, my bite accommodates my jaw to perfection and I'm not complaining that she took my smile from a 3 to a 10 either!
