I have never written a review before but my experience at iRepair on college street left me with no choice. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I took my macbook in for repair along with the diagnosis I had received from the Apple store. I was given a preliminary quote and told I would be contacted within 5 business days with a final diagnosis. I was not. After following up myself, I was quoted $475 for a complete replacement of LCD screen. This was reasonable, although higher than the preliminary quote despite the diagnosis being the same. I was told I would be contacted after a week and a few days after the part arrived and the repair work was done. I was not. After following up again on my own, I was told that the repair would cost $50 more and given the very detailed explanation of "you have a bad inverter". I was thoroughly disappointed by their lack of communication, misdiagnosis and length of time they had had my device without completing the repair. I was then contacted via phone and notified that the second diagnosis was incorrect as well and that I would need the entire top half of my computer replaced along with work on the logic board. Due to the amount the I had been inconvenienced they were willing to offer all of this to me at the low cost of $700 (more than half the cost of a new macbook and double their original quote). Nothing about the experience that I was receiving was worth paying for, so I asked for my laptop back in the original form I had brought it in. When I received it back, the screen would not turn on at all which was not the case when I brought it in. I can only come to the conclusion that the device was further damaged during the stores "repair work". It only seems fitting to mention that I am writing this review from the same damaged macbook that I was able to replace at a friendly, family owned repair shop for $350 with 6 month warranty. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way that there are lots of decent repair shops out there, iRepair on College is not one of them. read more

sigh...... last year when i broke my screen i checked the pricing here first and it was much higher than stellar cellular (this is not an ad i promise), so i got it fixed there instead and they had excellent service. i should have realized the price here for an iphone 5 battery would be more expensive than the other place too! anyway, my screen had cracked again but it didn't really need replacing (it is still fully functional) so i just went for the new battery since mine was really crapping out. the desk person said it would take an hour. great! i come back, and my phone screen is actually popping out, and won't snap back in place. i actually have to use masking tape to hold the screen down. there's a different person at the desk (she was really nice and tried to be accomodating) and she asked if the person i had spoken to before let me know that a cracked screen might affect the ability to put the battery in properly??? what??????????????? the first clerk did not mention anything about this, so the new desk person gave me half off even though i don't think i should have been charged for this at all. also i'm pretty sure the battery is still shit. SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE SHOP DOWN THE STREET. read more

really the only reliable option to fix your iphone. but be prepared for stumbling diagnostics which equal more days without your phone. in the end they solve the issue and are good people. just factor in some extra time, so you don't get all mad and hurt the feelings of these sweet computer elves. read more

Such a great place that I'm giving them 5 stars even though they couldn't fix my phone. I brought in my old 3G which after months of acting up had finally just stopped turning on completely. The guy behind the desk was super friendly, and with absolutely no wait he ran a few tests on it. When that failed to diagnose a problem he opened it up and saw severe water damage and a blown chip. He did a few more tests to make sure, and then told me the thing was a write off . It probably took him 20 minutes to do this, but there was no charge. Obviously it would have been great if he could have fixed it, but judging from other reviews if it is possible to fix, they will find a way. I'm planning on evangelizing about this place to everybody I know with an iphone. read more

so real talk iRepair is a 50/50 gamble... what i've figured out is that to us, lowly humans, when our devices break we panic because we can't fix it and we have no clue what's going on, as a result we treat the people who say they can like their geniuses... iRepair is not about genius ... some stuff is just easy and a no brainer, but for the stuff that takes a little more work iRepair can't be trusted. They will take your device promise that it will be fixed, make promises to inform you of any difficulty that they find with your product before they proceed with fixing it so that you can make an informed choice about proceeding but not in fact do so. They will do a half assed job of the repair and only if you notice the half assed job tell you they did the best that they could only after you return to question the repair. By then you're shit out of luck and money, having spent close to a hundred if not more on a shoddy repair when you could have invested that money in a new device. Linsey, the owner is a mess, who also makes promises in fake professional-ese to address your concerns but is basically just paying you lip service with no intention to get back to you in hopes that you'll just get tired and give up. Look I get it, they've been around for awhile and they look trustworthy because they are on college street and their sign is nice but their crooks... save your money and go to chinatown or pacific mall, they know what their doing and their cheaper. I have had four devices repaired at the College St location. Lindsay there provides excellent customer service. They were slow fixing my Playbook, but they were very apologetic, and in the end charged me very little for the work. So I can't really complain. These people are honest, highly competent, and provide excellent customer service. It's my go-to place for any repair. read more

I brought my phone in to have the battery replaced in early March 2017. They changed the battery, but then the phone would not turn on. They did seem to make an effort to fix it, but ultimately I brought my phone in for a small repair and the phone is now completely unusable. On top of that, they still have my phone (by mid-April) and they have not told me if a single thing can be recovered from it (and I am pretty sure they can't retrieve even one contact). I would not recommend using iRepair due to inconsistent, long, and potentially damaging service. read more

I stopped by with two devices not working. The staff person verbally took me through the repair process so I could repair them myself and charged me nothing. As he had described, each fix was simple and successful, and his honest service saved me from paying needless "repair" fees. After several smashed screens on my iphone, the irepair college and palmerston location is almost like home to me. i love love love this place. it's my saviour. the manager who works there, forget her name, but a blonde woman, is so great! she's super efficient, knowledgable, friendly, and really really fair. they will always be honest with you, never try to rip you off, and try to fix your problems as quickly as they can. thank you! i hope i won't have to go back, but knowing my butter fingers, i know i will be. read more

The guys at this place provided fantastic service for my aging iPhone at a price which was more than fair. I went in because my phone no longer charged, at all and had been failing with other operational issues before that. I was about to fork over another $700 to Apple or the Android folks for a new phone and stopped in as a last resort. I saw that they had had some negative reviews in the past but thought I should give them a chance as the location was convenient for me. Good news is they got my phone up and running again in about 45 minutes and for free! and gave me some great tips on fixing the operational issues which seem to work as well. I did buy a new screen protector from them but did so only after they got the phone up and running. My impression is that they were aware of the bad reviews in this site and were working hard to restore their on line reputation. Reminds me of that futuristic episode in Black Mirror where one negative on line review from a "friend" unfairly snowballed and ruined some poor girl's fictional life. Will definitely be back there for my next iPhone issue (for which i will blame Apple not Irepair). read more

I'm a klutz; I've broken 2 iPhone screens and one iPad screen and I inadvertently sent another iPad surfing through the slush. This is my second review of the same location. I went there when my 2nd brand new Macbook retina had Coke Zero knocked over the keyboard (just like in my first review). The staff i.e. Phil went above and beyond. I told them to do a replacement of the logic board vs. the cheaper repair because replacing would take 1 day and $800 instead of repairing which would take up to 14 days and $450. Amazingly, when I picked it up the next day, the manager (Lillian?) said Phil and the other senior tech stayed late to do the repair for $450 (in just one day!) because the logic board they thought they had was only 8GB vs. the 16GB that my Macbook came equipped with. Its been 2 days now and the Macbook is working like its brand-new. Thanks again iRepair! read more

Awesome. Love them! Had problems with my iPhone so i initially went to the Apple Store at the Eaton Centre. Tons of people, very uncomfortable. i waited for a tech guy who was helping someone else, then when it was my turn an attractive woman walked up and the guy pivoted like a professional basketball player and i was left standing dumbfounded and unimpressed so i left. I found out about irepair through a blog and went over to see what they could do. Two very cool and friendly people at the desk, no huge crowds, a technician unseen in the back, and a generally good vibe. I gave them my phone, went across the street and had a quick coffee and then went back to check on the progress. I was told it was fixed and didnt need any expensive parts, just a little love from the technician. And the cost was totally totally reasonable. So, these guys are great! If you have an iPhone with a problem, i HIGHLY recommend you check them out!! read more

Sent my ipod in and they could not fix it and thats ok but is not the extra you pay when you send for diagnosis the amount to send it back to you as they tried to charge me extra for that and now have e-mailed many times and no response and the ipod they said they would send back they kept. read more

I am writing this review from a laptop I thought would never see the light of day again. I am a happy camper. One day I decided it would be a good idea to balance a full mug of tea on my 13' Macbook Pro while I carried it to the couch. I sat down quite hard with said tea STILL SITTING ON MY LAPTOP (next to the track pad), splashing about 1oz. of tea onto the keyboard. This will long be remembered as one of the most bone-headed things I have ever done. I wiped it down, turned it off, and put it upside down in a bag of rice for a couple of days, fingers crossed. Like an idiot, I got impatient and tried turning it on a few days later, and got a mysterious question mark on the screen accompanied by a furious clicking noise. I turned it off and tried turning it back on. This time, nothing happened at all. The soonest the Yorkdale Apple store had an appointment at the genius bar was three days from them. I put the laptop back in the rice. When I brought it into Yorkdale, although I had a really lovely tech, was given pretty brutal news. Tea water had gotten into pretty much everything. I had broken the logic board, one speaker, track pad, keyboard, and hard drive. They estimated the cost of repairs to be $1100-1200. I hung my head and left, put the poor thing in a box and cut my losses. (I also had an iMac, so could make do until I could afford to buy a new one.) I had always had the intention of trying out an after-market repair facility, just to see what they said, but found the idea of them a little shady. I waited over two months before I started googling a couple of reviews. I came across yelp and decided that based on the overwhelmingly satisfied customers, and very genuine seeming stories, that I would give irepair a go. I was not very optimistic, and was mostly doing this to put the final nail in the coffin and move on. I brought my laptop into the College location, and was told it would be a $30 diagnostic fee, that would be applied to any repairs if I chose to have them done. (Apple's is $50, but didn't charge me due to my extreme sadness/politeness.) He put a piece of painters tape on my laptop with my name and number, and told me someone would get back to me the next day. As I brought it in on a Friday evening, I waited until Monday to follow up when I didn't hear anything over the weekend. When I called I was told it was sent to the Yonge location, as they took care of all the computer repairs. I was given their number, and told to call. I spoke with another receptionist, who let me know a tech would call me in the next day or so. At this point I was a little nervous, as my 'someone would let me know the next day' had turned into a week, but based on the amount of damage I had done to my computer, I figured they were honestly still looking it at. That day, I received a call from Phil who completely set my mind at ease. He is so friendly and funny, our discussion about the computer felt more like chatting with a friend. He let me know he was about 80% done testing it, but at this point was estimating the repair cost to be about $350 as long as he didn't find anything else wrong. I nearly choked. He said he completely understood it was a lot of money, and seemed very sorry. I laughed. I was giddy. I couldn't believe the assessment so I started drilling him, asking exactly what was checked, what was wrong ECT. He told me the logic board was damaged, but that it was repairable. He let me know Apple does not usually repair logic boards, which could account for the high replacement cost. He said that the hard drive was fine, and that they are not usually damaged by water. He let me know even if the next few things he had to check had damage, I would not be looking at more than $450. I was elated. I got a final assessment the next day, and was told that the keyboard needed to be replaced, but everything else was ok. The total would be, as he quoted the day before, $450. I asked about a couple of upgrades to my hard drive/memory, which he walked me through as well. I decided not to go with them right away, but plan to in the future. I was told it would be ready friday or tuesday after the long weekend. I didn't hear back from them after the weekend, so called in the next Friday to find out everything was good for pick-up. (I would advise future customers to follow up within a reasonable amount of time, and not just wait for a call. If I had needed it back right away I would probably have been pretty anxious with the lack of communication, but as I didn't, this particular aspect of the service didn't bother me.) I went to pick it up and received the same great customer service; we tested the speakers, (apple told me one was non-functional) and found they both worked great. Everything was alive and well on my desktop as I left it and I was ecstatic. I paid, was told to come in or call if I had any issues and left. Amazing experience, couldn't recommend it more! read more

Yes, they fixed my laptop. But customer service is not their expertise. After the date of when it was to be ready, and I heard from no one, I decided to call myself. No one seemed to know the status of the situation. My technician was MIA. The following week, the same thing, each time I called, nothing. No communication from anyone. All they could tell me was that someone would call me when it was ready. I gave up - eventually, three weeks after being diagnosed and worked on I received a phone call. They will not go out of their way to call you and let you know what is happening. You need to chase them down. Very sad... read more

This place did a terrible repair on my iPhone. I brought my 5s in because the screen had cracked. it functioned properly but I just wanted a screen that was not cracked. i like my phone to look nice. they said it would be a super easy repair and told me to come back in an hour. I come back and the woman at the counter asks if I had had my phone fixed before. i had not. apparently the home button no longer could read my thumbprint. she was saying "oh it must be some software issue blah blah blah" and i'm like "no, it should work as well as it did before considering the home button was not even the issue". so they ask me to give them 20 minutes more. I walk around the hood and come back. the issue is still not resolved. so they ask for 20 more minutes. i decided to wait in the shop and eventually they tell me they fixed it and everything is ok. it was my dead skin that had collected in there. at the time i accept this as the reason though in retrospect it makes no sense as why would the "dead skin" mess up the button only after the repair if it was there the whole time. the thumb scan works for like 3 hours and then stop working again. over the days since the "repair" the touch screen has become wonkier and wonkier to the point where it is basically unusable. my phone is now unusable. thanks guys. i will be bringing it in this week and if this problem is not fixed for free or I am not issued a full refund I will mention it here. so far i would recommend you avoid this place like the plague unless you want to pay $150 for them to blame you for their poor workmanship. read more

The guy behind the counter was really nice & between him & the other woman there, figured out how to fix it in about 30 secs and didn't even charge me...The first time was a few years ago when I dropped an ipod in water. Apple store told me would have to buy a new one ($150+), Irepair fixed it in 20 minutes with all the music still there ($30) still works, totally worth it! Came into iRepair one day with a 2G iPod Touch with a broken headphone jack. Was charged something like 50$ for a replacement. Came back an hour later and all seemed okay. A few months later with me in another part of the country, the problem comes back. I wasn't using it much for music so I didn't make a huge deal about it. Now, the battery was starting to go so I bought a replacement and a new headphone jack and set out to replace them myself. I opened the case, only to discover that the repair job I had been charged 50$ for didn't even get me a replacement headphone jack, but instead, a wire soldered to the connector on the board and to the polyimide ribbon cable on the headphone jack, partway up the cable. The plastic was just scratched a bit to expose the conductor, then soldered on top with a bit of scotch tape over it. Predictably, the solder didn't hold onto the ribbon very well and was no longer connected when I opened it. When I'm paying that much money for a repair job, I expect more than a cheap hack that fails under normal use after a few months. Considering a single replacement headphone port cost me around 3$ and installation is pretty easy with basic soldering skills, I'm not impressed. read more

I brought my macbook in last saturday and was told that I would get a call on Monday letting me know the diagnosis. I never heard from anyone on Monday, and so I called on Wednesday. I left a voice mail asking them to call me back. On thursday, I tried calling again, and I kept getting messages saying the number was not in service. On friday I called in the morning and left a voice mail. After a few hours, I tried again and finally got someone on the phone. They told me that my laptop was sent to the other location on Yonge, and so I was put on hold while they called them. When he came back, I was told that the technician was in the middle of looking at it, and he so he would have to call me back in a few minutes. I never heard back and called again just now (Saturday) and was again put on hold and told that the other location couldn't be reached. I still have no diagnosis - and so I asked that I be able to pick up my computer. They told me to come in tuesday, and hung up the phone on me without saying goodbye. The only positive thing I can say about this experience is that the woman was really nice who originally received me and checked in my laptop. Im really disappointed with my experience. A week later, I still don't have my computer or a diagnosis of what was wrong. read more

WORST experience ever!!! I went to them because of all the positive reviews I read here and I had the absolute worst experience ever. The screen of my iPhone 5 had come off the base but was still intact and phone was working 100%. The gentleman working the front said they would open it up and see if they could realign it and put it back in place without using any new parts. I returned 2 hours later to find my phone worse off than I left it. When opening up my phone, they had scratched up my screen protector, to the point there was a small perforation. I brought this to the gentleman's attention and he said it was not done on purpose. When I asked if they had a replacement screen cover, he informed me they sold them for $11.99. He would not even cover a replacement for something they had ruined, that was fine when I left it with them. Then, when I opened the phone I discovered scratches INSIDE the screen, in the text messages and, prior to bringing my phone to them, there was NO internal damage at all. I will NEVER go to an Irepair again in my LIFE and would strongly discourage anyone from going to this specific location. They are irresponsible, unprofessional and CARELESS. read more

cracked my iphone screen. they charged me $129 for replacement. the screen turned out to be defected and the side of the LCD has black lines. Took it back to show them that they screen they put was defected. They didn't want to change the screen and told me that I dont know how to use my phone and how I must have done it and told me they can't fix it as it's not them. I took the phone to another place, they checked and told me that irepair has used a cheap china screen replacement and was defected. I suggest never going to this place. read more

I had found Irepair online and decided to bring my iPod touch in to get my earphone jack fixed. It was still working but the sound would occasionally cut out if the head phone wire and connector would turn or twist. When I initially dropped it off they told me that they would call me the next day to let me know if it was repairable and would probably cost about $60. 4 days went by and I did not hear from them, I tried calling but no one would pickup and after leaving several messages no one retuned my call. Over a week had gone by so I finally just showed up, they had told me that they were unable to fix it and had returned to me. The worst part of this hold experience is that after going home and plugging in my my earphones the sound is now completely gone and it does not work. Aside from the terrible service, lack of communication and length of time that it took, they topped it off by completely breaking an iPod that was functional. read more

When the headphone jack on my iPod classic broke, I immediately brought it into the Apple store to see if they could fix it. I was told that my warranty expired six months ago and that I would have to purchase a brand new iPod, which I thought was absolutely ridiculous considering I googled the problem and it appeared to be a very simple fix job, certainly not worth forking over another $250+ when the only problem was the sound. That being said, I am pretty inept in the field of technological repairs and didn't want to attempt to fix it myself, so I brought my iPod into Irepair and prayed that they could help. Sure enough, I was told that it was a very simple fix job that would take about 45 minutes to complete. After wandering around the neighbourhood for 45 minutes, I returned and my iPod was as good as new. I would definitely recommend Irepair to anyone who has issues with any Apple product, as Apple are complete asshats when it comes to customer service and Irepair will potentially save you hundreds of dollars, as it did me.
