Excellent food!! Wife and I were greeted by courteous staff. If you ever like to eat, or try Goat Soup, this is the place!! Very hot, and filling and I ordered a cup that looked more like a bowl. Wife had the Goat Curry, and I had the Oxtail. We also had what they call 'Festival' which are Jamaican Corn Bread Fritters. Before I forget they have one of the best Callaloo. Actually we intended to go to another Jamaican Restaurant that was suggested by a co-worker. Upon arrival they were not prepared for food service and they suggested Irie Eats. I'm from the islands, so I expected the island flare when I walked in. But it looks like they had more alcohol than anything. And I definitely did not smell any food cooking inside. I've been to several different Jamaican Restaurants, and this is by far the best!...so I got half of Chickn jerked meal, came with fried plantains, cabbage, rice&peas, and the Portions are great amounts. A lot of Jamaican restaurants I've been to dont season the cabbage/vegetables, but the was grilled and seasoned to perfection. This was our second visit to Irie Eats. Great food, music and staff. Love the vibe of the place. They have awesome happy hour specials that go until. 8PM! Super helpful as I was ordering for a larger group of people. They gave me a time to order so I would get my food made fresh. I was a bit late getting to my order because of traffic. They took the time to replace some of my food to provide me with some fresh product. The plantains should not be missed! They are delicious and perfectly made. The Jamaican patties are wonderful. Aunthenic? No , Americanized? Very much. This didn't have the authentic taste and the only thing that was somewhat good to me was the cabbage which was way to buttery to be Jamaican, the oxtail? Tasted more like they added nutmeg or something but I can gaurentee that's definitely not authentic Jamaican taste ,Was so tough and I only got three pieces? For 14$? Well worth the drive for the authentic Caribbean flavors. Had take out and th portions were harty. You would miss this place from the street and i dismissed it every time i passed by bc of the unassuming storefront and quiet openning. My husband saw it on yelp and wanted to try it. So thank you yelp reviewers because the food was great. Real scratch cooking. Nothing was overly spicy, just a nice heat. We had beef and chicken patties, corn fritter things that were like donuts, fried plantains, curried chicken -- all fantastic. Nice location for locals/drinks but if you are going for the food - don't. Newly relocated from the east coast and was in the mood for some comfort food. Being half Jamaican oxtail usually always makes a bad day better...not this time. When we first walked in the employee who greeted us seemed surprised/shocked that we were there to eat and not for happy hour. We quickly learned why. Ordered 2 oxtail meals and at $16/a plate you'd think the portion would be generous but nope. I got MAYBE 8 pieces of bone with meat and more side dish than what I wanted not to mention the oxtail was not falling off the bone which is very disappointing. I realized when I got the $44 bill I should have cooked at home. Additionally there was no hot sauce on the table and the waitress never refilled my water lol. This was my first time eating at this restaurant and I must confess I was impressed. I got the jerk chicken, Curry Goat, Jamaican patties and all were good. I wish I would've gotten more jerk sauce and soaked the chicken in it but that's just preference. The flavors were also good as well as the spice level. Awesome. I was craving goat as it is not the most commonly used meat in St. Louis they had it. I ordered the goat curry with an extra side of plantains. It was awesome. This place was a gem! I love Caribbean foods and I'm just not easy to please when it comes down to Jamaican food! Nevertheless to say I had brown stewed fish, with rice|peas, cabbage, and the amazing Irie Rum Punch made with Wray and Nephew! Oh you might want to add extra plantains because they were soooo tasty! Tip: our waitress was on the phone practically the entire time of our duration and didn't check on us but maybe twice and didn't seem attentive. I always eat at the restaurants across the street from Irie Eats and always wanted to come here, and today we finally did it! First we ordered a chicken and a beef patty, and they were super great. They were not what I expected at all, but totally awesome. I ordered the goat curry (pictured) and my boyfriend ordered the chicken curry. The flavor was vibrant, the food was fresh, and my tummy is satisfied. The dining room is rather small, so it's an intimate experience. UPDATE: The restaurant messaged me and apologized and offered me a discount on my next visit . They have updated their hours so now it's clear when they are open. Curry goat is a YES!!!!!!!! Hats off the Chef and the servers. Customer service is excellent. My friends are I came here ready for some Jamaican food. It's 11:50am and there is no one here. The doors are closed. The chairs are still up on the table. There is no sign on the door to let us know if they will be back soon. The hours of operation say they are open at 11am. We called the number twice and no one answered. Asked the neighboring stores and they say they don't know what time they open. So disappointed. How does a simple attempt at a DoorDash order culminate in a nightmarish experience with under cooked chicken? Only Irie eats can explain how this is possible, all I will say is order at your own risks. Will I ever be back or recommend this place to someone? Here is a of things I would rather do, and strongly suggest you do rather than go to or order from here; have 8 root canals done simultaneously without anesthesia, run naked through a cactus field in 120 degree weather, jump in a tiger enclosure soaked in sardine oil, drink a class of kool aid offered by Jim Jones. I think you get the idea. Burgundy sweat shirt and gray sweat pant. I am not sure of the inexperience of the attendant but her disposition is very rude and it seems like she doesn't care about manners or customer service . I sat next to the speaker and they were not on of course . She turned on the music and it was so loud from where I was sitting that I could not hear myself think. I said excuse please and she turned with the look of disgust (maybe that's her usual face) as I asked her to please turn the music down a bit . Earlier before that I asked what kind of drinks she has , she responded it's the drinks up here . Well none of your drinks are listed in the menu. I had to get up and go behind the counter to read and see what non alcoholic drinks you have . She could of read those drinks out loud. That is rude and a customer should not have to endure any of that especially when you are already including 18% gratuity on all dine in tickets . The food was great but if i had to recommended a Jamaican restaurant place I would not recommend this one because of this young ladies rude disposition. I mean when I came in there was no greeting and she was on the phone talking about a job that she wanted to work at in which from my experience gave me the impression she doesn't really want to work for you . We just traveled to St. Louis from Chicago and needed somewhere to eat. The Google reviews were decent so we tried it. They were out of all fish items and it was only 2pm in the afternoon on a Tuesday...seriously? Another woman came while we were ordering and said their beyond burger was bogus and came to complain and get a refund. Not a great first impression especially if we are in the middle of ordering our food. My sister liked the curry chicken and I thought the Irie pasta was decent. Overall the oxtails were tasty, the peas and rice were bland and the cabbage was decent enough. I think plantains were tasty but too overpriced. I would come back again, however, customer service needs to improve. The lady who served me came seemed very uninterested that I was there. I understand that it may just be cultural differences. All the staff was extremely nice, made myself and coworkers feel welcomed best service we received in St Louis.
