Whole Red Snapper. I've been waiting for this for awhile. Can't wait to enjoy. Thanks Mrs. Melissa.

Mrs Melissa will hook you up. Thanks for contributing to the community. My first time trying the Whole Red Snapper.

Best food in canton. It's a very inviting place. I felt so welcome there and honestly you could order anything and be thrilled! The owner is a very nice woman! I will be back. Fantastic selection and service.

    Curry/brown chick & curry chicken/ox tail

Just leaving Irie Island Restaurant, and the flavors were incredible. Melissa is so kind, and served us when she should have been closing. She was so generous. We tried curry chicken & goat, brown stew chicken and ox tail and you can't go wrong with any of those choices. This is definitely a special spot, and we will be back, even though we have to drive and hour to eat here!!

Authentic cuisine directly from Jamaica. Everything is homemade with TLC. A small family operated restaurant that needs the support of adventurous diners to help them succeed. Owners Melissa and husband Karl work hard to provide Stark County with their favorite dishes and recipes from Jamaica. They will offer a sample of any menu item before you order. The Jerk chicken is superb, the goat stew gamey and wonderful, the cabbage side dish could be a main course. Meat or veggie patties are on point. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. There is seating at booths and several tables and take out too. Everything is served in styrofoam boxes with plastic utensils. Just go with the flow, that is how it is done in Jamaica. Music from Pop Star Jamaican musicians is piped over tiny speakers to give a local vibe.

Really upbeat atmosphere! You have got to stop and check out the ox tail and plantains!!

This was my first stop when I moved to Ohio. Their curry goat and ox tails are amazing.

Yes, I brought my 3 boys in. No kids menu items, though; the boys liked the Curry Chicken which wasn't too spicy for them. You can get a side of homemade Mac & Cheese instead…

Their menu changes seasonally, and it currently lists food such as fries, Cuban sandwich, chicken-tortilla soup, tagliatelle, flat-iron steak, and Hokkaido scallops. I met a friend here for one dinner. The setting was more on the casual side rather than fine dining. (I wore jeans and a blouse.) I have eaten authentic foods in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, and I thought that the menu was slightly influenced by these regions. The waitress and waiter spoke nicely with us. Our dinner that included a BYO wine (with a $5 charge per person), appetizer, entree, and dessert lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. The foods had strong flavors, and we both enjoyed everything that we ate. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which also contained carrots, pecans, and a dressing, and the Hot Low Country Crab Dip, which contained a good amount of crab meat and was served with crunchy toast. For entrees, I ate the Cutler-cove Salmon, which was accompanied with asparagus, potatoes, and a spicy jerk sauce and habanero purée, and my friend ate the Arugula Salad, which contained fresh arugula, baby carrots, goat cheese, olives, and hot honey. For dessert, I ate the Kentucky Bourbon Cheesecake, which was topped with pecans, caramel, and whipped cream, and my friend ate the Maple Panna Cotta with raspberries.
