Eggs were almost completely cooked through, bacon was crisp and tasty, hash browns were obviously reheated and a little tough. Use to be a 5 star rating but is going down hill. It's not the waitresses or owners! It is the kitchen. Some food is not done or overcooked. We've always supported the restaurant but found we had to go other place because of quality and portion size. The fruit cup is $4 but it was so little with 6 small blueberries, 5 grapes, 1 small slice of a strawberry and 1 small little square of watermelon. Barely was heaped up. Pretty much one layer in a very small dish. Rather prices be increased instead of quality and portion. The sausage patties used to be big cause I would split it with my husband. Not anymore. Also a waffle was served to company we had in town and she could even get her fork into it. I don't want to see Irene's close but just like owners to be aware of everything. We've run into people that are discouraged as well. Please try to get back to the way it was. read more

What a pleasant little surprise. We were headed back from an event at Maize Valley and wanted something to eat. Hopped on the YelpMachine™ and it directed us to Irene's. Old school diner feel, lots of what I assume are regulars filling all the tables. Our three top had a very short wait, and then we were shuttled off to a back booth. I think there's one, maybe two women running the whole place, which made their speed of service even more impressive. Asked what was good, and both the server and a food runner said the cinnamon French toast. The server said, and I quote "if I could marry a food, that would be it". With a recommendation like that, how can you say no? It didn't disappoint. It's French toast made out of deconstructed, thick, gooey cinnamon rolls. It was so good, it didn't even need any syrup added. Just put a little real butter on top, and went to town. 9/10. Though the French toast was the star of the show, the table also got an omelette, rye toast; some homemade corned beef hash, and bacon. I asked for the bacon to be crispy. And they didn't disappoint. It also was THICC. My guess, from a local farm. Overall, Irene's was a fantastic surprise. Not in Hartville that often, but you can bet your backside I'll be visiting this place again when I am. read more

Cute place at the end of the plaza. The servers were friendly, and the food was made perfectly to order. My friend and I got the same dish - 2 eggs sunny side up with bacon and home fries, side of rye toast. The thick cut bacon was perfection- I asked for extra crispy and they delivered! My rye toast actually seemed like a heartier thicker slice than average. The home fries (again I asked for extra crispy) may be the best I've ever had. Crisp on top and soft underneath - I was almost certain they would be hard and dried out but nope- perfect! The place was clean and well spaced for social distancing. We were in the area although we are from Parma. We decided to try this place for breakfast. We were totally satisfied with our meal. Portions are huge with decent pricing. Service was very good, clean restaurant and extremely good tasting food. We had the Hawaiian omelet, Reese pancake breakfast and Irenes biscuits and gravy which had eggs, potatoes, sausage, cheese, biscuits and gravy. My granddaughter wants to know why we didn't know about this place. LOL, we live an hour away. BUT will definitely take a trip out there and stop again. read more

Always choose local! My husband, our great uncle & I went to breakfast here last weekend. Their covid cleaning and general precautions had us feeling safe in such a small place. I had their quiche of the weekend (yummy, but a LOT of bacon), my husband had the bacon waffle (again, a lot of bacon) and uncle had the Hash and Eggs. We were all pleased with our meals (although I wish I had gotten one of the other 3 things I was deciding between because so much on their menu looks amazing -- like fried mush ) and the service was attentive and kind. Been going to Irene's for almost 3 years now. She's changed her entire staff a few times since then. Today we stopped at Irene's and I ordered the Greek salad for the first time and the menu says it comes with tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki sauce is a cucumber yogurt sauce and is usually included with Greek gyros and the menu also said that the Greek salad comes with gyro meat. The Greek salad was brought to the table with huge dollops of sour cream all over it. I tasted it to confirm that it was sour cream and told the waitress about it. She went back to the kitchen and returned, telling me that was their version of tzatziki sauce. I told her I didn't want it and she apologized, I ordered a cheeseburger instead and thankfully they didn't charge me for the Greek salad. Bottom line - if the cooks and wait staff don't know what's on the menu, then Irene isn't taking care of her business. read more

Food is always good, huge portions, friendly service - amazing cinnamon rolls, soup, fresh cut fries - we've never had a bad meal and we eat here pretty much once a week. Prices are reasonable - the only negative is that the place is small, not a good place for groups - and sometimes you have to wait for a table.
