This place is a hidden gem. Absolutely delicious Morongo. Really friendly staff, explained some menu items we hadn't tried before.

A great spot that serves delicious and reasonably priced food!…read more I got the large curry chicken meal ($13) and a beef patty ($3). The curry chicken meal came with a few pieces of chicken, cabbage, plantains, and rice & peas. Everything on the plate was delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender, and it was flavorful but not too spicy. I really enjoyed the plantains, which had the perfect amount of sweetness. And I'm not typically the biggest fan of cabbage, but I like the way Gar and Mar cooks and seasons theirs. But oh my God, THE BEEF PATTY. Next time I come here, I might just make my meal a bunch of beef patties. The curry chicken was good, but the beef patty was absolutely fantastic. The crust was so buttery and flaky, and the filling so flavorful and well-spiced. The patty was so good that I ordered another one for "dessert," though the patty is very much savory. It was a good amount of food for under $20. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice and casual.

They talked to the waitress and paid with a tip attached that staff selected themselves!!!! After coming to sit back down they announced that it didn't go through and that they would need payment again. I offered to pay the bill with my money. But my partner said that this is common in some places where restaurants will double charge people! The said an automatic refund would happen and to give them a call if we never received one! Yeah no more like let's just call the bank and dispute it! Run. Run. FAR AWAY.

Their menu changes seasonally, and it currently lists food such as fries, Cuban sandwich, chicken-tortilla soup, tagliatelle, flat-iron steak, and Hokkaido scallops. I met a friend here for one dinner. The setting was more on the casual side rather than fine dining. (I wore jeans and a blouse.) I have eaten authentic foods in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, and I thought that the menu was slightly influenced by these regions. The waitress and waiter spoke nicely with us. Our dinner that included a BYO wine (with a $5 charge per person), appetizer, entree, and dessert lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. The foods had strong flavors, and we both enjoyed everything that we ate. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which also contained carrots, pecans, and a dressing, and the Hot Low Country Crab Dip, which contained a good amount of crab meat and was served with crunchy toast. For entrees, I ate the Cutler-cove Salmon, which was accompanied with asparagus, potatoes, and a spicy jerk sauce and habanero purée, and my friend ate the Arugula Salad, which contained fresh arugula, baby carrots, goat cheese, olives, and hot honey. For dessert, I ate the Kentucky Bourbon Cheesecake, which was topped with pecans, caramel, and whipped cream, and my friend ate the Maple Panna Cotta with raspberries.
