What history in this corner pub! Grandfather, father, and son owned and run since 1970 alongside some of my other Boston favorites like State St Provisions, Russell House Tavern, and Grafton St. absolute pleasure chatting cocktails with Aiden and enjoying a perfect pint. Will be a stop anytime I'm nearby.

Super cozy neighborhood bar. Really comfortable space. We went on a Friday night and it was packed, but we still managed to grab a booth. There are darts and a jukebox, which are fun! The area in the back has some cozy seats. Overall, place is clean, including the bathroom. Music is at a perfect level - loud enough to hear, but not too loud that it overpowers conversation. Drinks are great - plenty of draught options (including cider for ppl like me who don't like beer)! They also have food - "toasties" - toasted cheese with or without ham. They also allow you to bring in food if that doesn't float your boat. Bar staff are nice and knowledgeable. Overall, an excellent spot for locals. I will definitely be returning. I've never been so comfortable at a bar!

If you want an authentic Irish Pub, this is the place. I went in with a guy from Germany so he didn't get any shock waves, I am part Irish and my best uncle in the world was off the boat from Cork so I grew up learning a lot about the Irish. We would sing seafaring songs, dance jjgs, make fishing nets, splice ropes, and thankfully he was not big in the drinking department, although he did stash a bottle of Irish Mist for special occasions. Anyway, I waked in there and my uncle was sitting on every stool, I could hear the thick Irish Brogue and see the hard life faces of the working and retired men. The older gent next to me was quick to start a conversation with us and he bought us a beer and told us some of his life story. If I am ever in that area again, I will surely stop by for a cold one.

My favorite neighborhood Irish bar. Grab a pizza across the street and have with a perfect pint.

The beers are always cold, there's bound to be an irish rouge sounding in the air, and the jukebox blasts out only the finest pop music around.

Both of us got combo platters with, between us, had a variation of wings, ribs, pulled pork, cole slaw, mashed potatoes and fries. I am guessing this restaurant is trying to make things "their own" by going an non-traditional route with some things and I'm usually fine with that - if I know it in advance. Cole slaw, while it had good flavor, was very heavy on the mayo and contained very large pieces of onion which is not common. I know far too many that don't like onions and this would have been an unpleasant surprise. The mashed had a good flavor as well (but woah, a TINY side that was the same portion as the cole slaw) but it had a spice to it in there - no clue what it was but, again, would have been a huge no to folks like my mother, my kids, etc. Onto the meats. They were OK but so dry if you don't opt to add in some of the sauces. The sauce offerings seemed a little different to us so we went with the "Classic BBQ" and frankly, we both hated it. It seems to have a "Hunts tomato sauce" base. That's exactly what it tasted like. Hunts tomato sauce. I wish I knew it was a tomato sauce base (or tasted like it) because it's very thin and heavy on the tomato flavor. Since we didn't like the sauce, our meats were SO dry b/c they had no sauce on them. Anywho - someone next to us ordered a sirloin, I believe, it looked great. Maybe we just went for the wrong thing. But I could not get that BBQ taste out of my mouth all night. Two 2 meat combos (with $1 upcharge for ribs), one appetizer (queso), a diet soda and 2 Bud Lights ($10 ea!) came to just over $90 before gratuity. We came here while crushing some time while our older son was at an activity and we have to repeat this in a couple of weeks. We will not be back here... we'll have to find another place to spend some time and have dinner. Again, service was TOP NOTCH - no complaints about service. But the food left a lot to be desired. We had higher expectations for sure.

It is ok the smaller side, so I would arrive slightly early if you would like good viewing of a specific game; however, there is TVs throughout the small-ish space. I ordered the cheese curds to munch on, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that they were some of the best cheese curds I've had. The breading wasn't thick like most, just an ultra thin layer. Added fresh jalapeños. And for dipping it was a ranch-styled sauce. So SO good ! I had a local, canned beer to drink. Service was good and it gave off a local/community vibe since the bartenders seemed to know who the regulars are. I will definitely be back! I typically don't drink cocktails at this sort of establishment, but the White Russian 2.0 has perked my interest. If the food is that great and it's only $13 for a cocktail... I'll be back to give it a try.

Hanging out in Boston on business and it's #WingWednesday! So I did some research which lead me to…read morethe Shine Square Pub in Cambridge, MA which is a little east-northeast of Boston. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: It's a bit of a dive bar and there's nothing wrong with that at all. There's lots of seemingly random swag that covered the dark wooden/brick walls of the open floorplan style restaurant. There are lots of TVs and this place just gives off nice sports bar vibes! Service: Ron the bartender/owner himself was taking care of the entire restaurant so he was killing it! He still was quick, efficient, did things with a smile and still made time to chat! Food: I'm here for the wings and I was able to try out 4 flavors! There are 14 sauces to choose from, but I only had enough room for 4. Lol. First up were the Cinnamon Chipotle Dry Rub. They were a decent size, super juicy, crispy, cooked perfectly. The seasoning was a bit on the salty side and I didn't get a whole lot of cinnamon, but it was there to cut the sauce and give it a extra layer of flavor. Next up was the Honey Honey which had great sauce coverage. They gave me a bit of a grilled/caramelized feel. These had a good kick to them and the honey was blended in nicely. Next up were the Roasted Garlic & Aji! These had a more traditional flavor profile that reminded me of your favorite straight-up roasted chicken. Very class and very good. Lastly, was the hottest sauce on the menu, Chernobyl. These were a BRIGHT RED like a poison dart frog warning you not to eat it. Lol. It didn't smell too intimidating, but Ron did say it was a ghost pepper based wing. Upon tasting them, there was an immediate sensation of heat. Good, pepper-rich sweetness up front. These were very good, but not as spicy as I had predicted, which is totally okay! Value: You get 6 wings for $11.00. A little on the pricey side, but it's Boston, sort-of downtown, but it's okay! It's not bad at all and the food was totally worth it. I loved this place and I'm so happy I finally found a good wing spot here in the Cambridge area. I'll surely try some more flavors and other things from their menu!
