First time to have dinner at Iron & Grape on 7/31/26. Very nice historic building in the older part of Defuniak Springs downtown. The hosted was friendly and we were seated immediately for a 5 p.m. reservation. The menu was similar to what was posted on the website, plus the daily specials that were explained to reflect what is fresh and mostly locally sourced. I chose the cesar salad and lasagna. The salad was fresh, but not notable - I'd rate as average. On the other hand, the lasagna was the best I've ever had and the flavor was incredible with a perfect ratio of sauce, pasta, meat and cheese. It was served in a small cast iron skillet that seem to enhance the flavor. The service we received from Krystal was outstanding. Definitely ready for a return visit. read more

This is a favorite restaurant of ours for special occasions. I stopped in there on August 8 to make a reservation for my sister and her husband. It was their 51st wedding anniversary and a celebration of their visit with us. They live 5 hours away...The woman gladly took our information and got us set up for our "big night". She made note on our reservation that it was for the anniversary. We had our dinner. The waiter brought our check. NOT A WORD was mentioned by them about the anniversary. My husband and I go here for every occasion we can think of just to try all the different specials but mostly for the steak. You wouldn't think an Italian restaurant is where you go for the best steak of your life, but this one certainly is! This restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint. We arrived around 6:30 PM without a reservation and there was a small waiting list. Was told the wait was going to be 20-25 minutes and first available seating ended up only being a couple of minutes. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated and there is some limited outdoor seating. The menu had a nice selection. The portion size was huge and fair for the price. Our server, Laurel, was very nice and attentive. She checked on several times and the food came relatively quick. Taste was very good. read more

Best meal we've had in a LONG time! we went for the first time And had reservations on New Year's Eve. Love the atmosphere and ambience of the place and it's a lot bigger than it looks. We grabbed a drink from the bar upstairs while we waited on our table. We were seated right on time! My only real complaint is having to pay for the bread, it is $5 per serving. We had the calamari for an appetizer, and it was the best calamari I have ever had. For entrees I had the "big papa pasta pie" and husband had the shrimp linguine. We both said they were delicious!! We did feel that it was a very small serving of the linguine noodles though. Service was good. It is a pricer menu but very much worth it. We had 1 app, 2 entrees, dessert, and 2 drinks for $108. Definitely does not feel like youre in Defuniak. Highly recommend and we will be back often! read more

This place is a GEM! Everything we had was delicious, from the appetizer of smoked fish dip, delicious mezcal margaritas, the rigatoni with al a vodka sauce, to the apple dessert drizzled with caramel and topped with creamy pistachio ice cream... I was in heaven! The waitress we had was hilarious and personable. We had such a wonderful time dining out on the patio watching the sunset and eating all of the delicious things here at Iron & Grape. Everything about this restaurant exceeded expectations. The owner was bartending and managing, and the staff were all working hard to keep it running smoothly on a very busy summer weekend night. Our first visit to Iron & Grape was for Sunday brunch today. It was fabulous! We used to enjoy this location as Bogey's and love how the new owners have transformed the space into a bright, airy and uncluttered dining experience. My husband had the shrimp and grits which had wonderful depth of flavor with Italian sausage, Asiago cheese in the polenta grits. nice sized shrimp and a chili pepper sauce that had just the right amount of heat. I opted for the Italian Monte Cristo and it was one of the best I've ever had! A distinctive Italian flair with ciabatta bread French toast and loaded with ham, chicken and pepperoni in the center. It was topped with perfectly cooked poached eggs and served with strawberry preserves on the side. The portions are generous and served promptly on warm plates. (I needed a take home box for mine) Our server, Dave, was attentive, friendly and informative. He kept our glasses full and took great care of us. Chef Todd stopped by our table to inquire about how we were enjoying our meal. So nice when the owners and chef take the time to interact with their patrons! We dined inside, but there are many nice seating areas outside as well. We look forward to returning very soon to try the dinner options. read more

Defuniak Springs is such a cool and lovely place to visit! My first time in that particular area, and what a delight! So we had to try Iron & Grape and were not disappointed! A gem of a place in this little town. This was in mid-May, and in the evening so we opted to sit outside. Service was quick, and Dave was really helpful with an overview of the menu to help us make selections. I had their Sangria as it was that kind of evening LOL - $12 and delicious. My entree was the yellowfin tuna (fish of the day), grilled over angel hair pasta. Absolutely fantastic. We had ordered bread service as well - and at $5 it was super fresh, warm and oh so good. Having split the cost of the bread service with my friend, my tab came to $47 before tip - worth every penny! Would definitely stop by again and hope to in the near future. Great place! read more

We showed up on a Saturday night without reservations. The wait for a table was going to be about 15 minutes or so so we chose to sit at the bar. Really enjoyed the red wine selection and our food was really great. We took home leftovers and ate them the next day. I had the chicken piccata, which was really really good. They did ask us if we wanted to start with bread which we did. They brought us a huge amount of sliced white bread, which was cold with some type of garlic butter. I would've preferred less bread, served warm, with some really good cold butter. That was the only drawback and we will definitely return- love the atmosphere of this restaurant and was so pleased to find it in such a small city. read more

So glad to have this new place in my hometown. The service has been exceptional and each time I've gone I have tried a new dish. Hands down their Cast Iron pies are my favorite so far no matter the flavor. Bruschetta and fried cheese are great appetizers and the dessert is great as well. I'm not sure of the name but it is a hazelnut chocolate cake and it is fabulous (and I don't really like chocolate). My husband is the chocolate lover and chooses the mousse each time. Wonderful place with nice owners. Clean family friendly atmosphere. I do wish we could reserve online somehow as they don't open until dinner so same day reservations or even remembering to call in the evenings makes it difficult but the wait isn't usually too bad regardless. read more

I made a reservation for Valentine's Day back on January 21, 2026. It was a good three weeks before we were to go. I got several confirmations, so we were good to go. We showed 15 minutes before the reservation time. We were shown to table in the bar! It was directly under a vent, and it was cold. I mentioned that I was too cold. She pointed at the vent and said, "yes, you are under a vent". She did not offer another table. I did not like being put in the bar for our romantic evening. I think with 3 weeks' notice a better table could have been prepared. As for the food: I ordered a Caesar Avocado salad that had a sour taste, almost like vinegar. My companion was afraid if I sent it back the chef might be upset and do something to our entree. I gave Iron & Grape two stars because the pizza was great. Service...not so good read more

Heard lots of good things about this place but I was not that impressed. Had dinner there on 12/26/2025 after viewing the Christmas lights around the lake. We ate outside. It wasn't cold but wasn't warm either. The food itself was good but I would not make a spec trip to eat there. The service in the upstairs balcony was horrible! One member of our party never got his drink. And when it was time to pay we had to chase down our waitress to pay the bill. read more

Two friends and I went to Iron & Grape to celebrate my birthday at the end of April. They'd only been open about 3 weeks at that time and we decided to just do cocktails and small plates so we could taste a "sampling of everything" and get a better feel for their menu and culinary style. I was thrilled 'cuz that's my favorite way to dine! We shared a couple of orders of the pollette, the crispy calamari, fried mozzarella and fresh bread. We ended our tasting sharing the tiramisu and an order of zeppole. Each of the dishes were freshly made and attractively presented by our server who was genial and knowledgeable. I personally love the new decor. It's contemporary and comfortable with a hint of modern Italy. Although there's always someone in the group who is not a fan of change and lamented the removal of the "African Queen/Bogart" mural. I think the owners made the right decision regarding the mural. It was rumored that the cuisine would be a modern take on authentic Italian recipes. On the whole the chef hit his mark. My only regret is that they didn't choose to offer calamari as it is served regularly in central and southern Italy: marinated in olive oil and herbs and quickly grilled over an open fire accompanied with warm crusty bread. With this said, my take away is that Iron & Grape is a welcome addition to DeFuniak Springs! I plan to stop by regularly!! read more

There is a lot to enjoy in this restaurant. The service was prompt and server was friendly. The food taste is very good, especially the lasagna with the traditional sauce was excellent. The amount of pasta on the other entrees was disappointing, could definitely have been more. The pork belly was two small chunks and overpriced. The biggest disappointment was the "bread charge" especially when the bread had a huge hole in the middle and you were left eating the crust. When asked if we could get more bread, was told we would be charged for a second helping. I guess I go to the wrong restaurants because I have never been charged for bread, especially twice. The tiramisu was largely whipped cream with a very thin layer of crust at the bottom. read more
