It was our first trip to iron duck tonight. We had heard mixed reviews but wanted to check it out. It was def not our taste. We ordered the whipped bone marrow. We are HUGE fans of bone marrow and were really excited to try it. They don't say that there is this overpowering pepper mixture put in it. And not a little bit, a lot. And the croistinis were also covered in pepper. The marrow had no taste other than pepper. I love pepper. This was wayyyy too much and not listed on the menu. We then ordered the duck tacos. All we could taste was iron. I have had duck and prepared duck many times and it has never tasted like that. Wine list was mediocre. Charging $20 a glass for a Willamette County Pinot is a little high. I had the mid range Pinot and it was good. My wife had the "house red" and it was trash. Service was ok. Bartenders were attentive and we ate at the bar. I was impressed that they comped both appetizers bc we literally ate one bite of each. This place is an acquired taste. It was not ours. I hate to write this review, I have been here a few times and had good food but this visit the food was not good. I ordered the chicken fettuccine and it didn't taste like anything. It really lacked flavor and that rich pasta feeling. My husband ordered the shrimp jambalaya...very little shrimp and sausage and a lot and I mean a lot of rice. And the rice was hard. So he passed on eating that. Cocktails were good. I ordered the margarita and the hubby got the manhattan. 20 bucks for a manhattan is a lot for Green Bay standards. Not sure if I will come back. 5 for ambiance and service but giving this one a 3 overall because of the food. EVERYTHING we had was spicy, even the cheese curds. I think it was an over peppering problem to be honest. The kids chicken sandwich was spicy as well. I had to wipe off the coating so my kids would eat it. They have a verbal kids menu so ask for it if you need it. This place is cute, inside railroad carts with a large bar in the middle. I had the duck tacos and I was a little thrown off because the taco shell was a soggy soft pancake. Exceptional at every level. First, the service from the moment you hit the door is first rate - host was welcoming and very friendly, waitress was prompt at attending our table, but not in a "I am going to rush you tonight" way. Bartender brought our bottle of wine. Servers were helping other servers with water refills, food delivery, etc. That right there made the night. But the food? Truly exceptional. We enjoyed the Duck pate for our appetizer - delicious and served with plenty of crostini. Duck tacos were a main course for one I our party, even though it was an appetizer menu item. The whole fam went here yesterday and it was our first time in a hot minute. Love the atmosphere and the dim lights as per usual! Food was super good and the preparation was so great, you could tell they put their blood sweat and tears in these dishes. My dad wanted medium rare, steak was a bit overcooked but no one complained. But then the owner came to our table because he had noticed it was a bit cooked and brought my dad a whole new medium rare steak with no charge! Staff is very friendly as well. We met some friends there for dinner. When our friends arrived they said we would be a party of 4 and that was accepted. When we arrived a few minutes later they said they made a mistake and could not accommodate 4, only 2. No apology just "we can't accommodate your party". A culinary experience! HIGHLY recommend this spot - super unique for the Green Bay Area. The space. Felt like we were in a mountain town or something. Cozy, with lots of wood walls, decor, accents. Unique space because they up cycled shipping containers for dining areas - but you'd never know! It's definitely a dinner date vibe type place. The drinks. I'm still day dreaming about the Moderne Margarita. There are literally no works for this drink. The server brought out the drink and I was confused as hell - it came with a large single nice cube, tahin rimmed glass - but it was CRYSTAL CLEAR. What is the sorcery is this magic?! I have never had a margarita that was crystal clear - it was confusingly wonderful. I was skeptical until my first sip. Wow. Just wow. Probably the best margarita I have ever had! It was refreshing, crisp and not sugary. I could have sipped on several more. All of their cocktails were super unique and I can't wait to go back and try more. Another awesome thing? They have a mocktail menu! And the mocktail my wife tried was DELICIOUS. You'd never know you weren't having a cocktail. If I had one word to describe their drinks - sophisticated. The food. First and foremost - one of the most gluten friendly places in Green Bay! All of their fryers are GF. And they offer A TON of naturally GF menu items. Including a Wisconsin staple... cheese curds! They serve them with 3 different, delicious sauces. Highly recommend. We got the Teres Major Steak and the Pork Belly for dinner - both were delicious. Unique flavor combinations. Party in my mouth. The most disappointing part of the meal was dessert. I'm not sure if we got a bad batch, or if that's how they do it - we got the crème brûlée and it just disappointed on every level. Our first time trying the restaurant. Earlier in the day we noticed they were serving a few food items at Ahnapee Brewery. So we tried the chorizo guacamole nachos and were so impressed by the flavor. So then we decided to try the kale salad to take home, turns out my husband ate the majority of it at the Brewery. We then went to the restaurant down the road to try their cheese curds and dipping sauces and to get another salad, haha. Wow very cheesy cheese curds and delicious! The atmosphere was really nice and lots of social distancing with seating. All staff wore masks. The building is a few old train cars. Very neat. This place is phenomenal. The menu can be slightly intimidating (especially the wine menu) but the majority of the food is affordable and well portioned. I finally was able to come here for a full dinner experience and it did not disappoint. I ordered a cocktail from the drink menu which was a delight. I love bourbon so anything with that in it is a win. We ordered the duck pate and it came with a ton of crackers. I loved the richness of the pate topped with the sauce. It was a lot to share but we loved that. I got a lamb burger medium and side salad. The burger was huge and someone for once cooked my burger properly how I asked for it! Lately at places I ask for medium and get rare or well done. Great work! I would come back here in a heart beat. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. The Iron Duck deserves your business! This was our first time here. We were greeted at the door by a pleasant young man. The interior decor is fun and inviting and rustic. The wait staff was friendly and responsive. We had a lamb burger and a mushroom Swiss burger. Both were very good! The seasoning/ sauce were excellent. Now there are many other things on the menu like steak and seafood which we will have to try the next we go. I had a wonderful experience at Iron Duck. Being from Philadelphia, the hospitality here was superb. I felt extremely welcomed. The staff, specifically Caleb, Uzi, and Hunter are phenomenal. I sat by myself at the bar, ordered the salmon cakes, seared duck breast, and lemon napoleon, all recommendations by Uzi and it was truly exceptional. The drinks were phenomenal as well. The interim and margaritas are truly one of a kind delicious. The ambiance was great. It was sexy, yet inviting and comforting. I cannot recommend this place enough. It truly is a hidden gem. Decided to try this place which was new to us. Let me just say this place is very unique with some delicious food. We started out at the bar and had a drink and the bartender was very knowledgeable with the cocktail menu. We then moved to a cozy booth in on of the train cars. Super super cozy atmosphere here. Our server was Evie and let me say she is just amazing!!! Loved it! Started out with the duck corn chowder which was good but a tad spicy. Then moved onto the duck tacos with white rice pancake. So amazing. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with house fries. These fries are homemade which are my absolute favorite! Just like at the fair when I was a kid! The pickles are homemade and so delicious too! Hubby had the fish tacos which were also great! Would definitely go back to this unique and epic place again. The food was good, not great but very good, service was excellent our waitress was very good. The establishment is very clean and well kept. The bad. Cost. You pay a premium price for good food, but it's not great. The modern margarita is not good. Beer and drink costs are too expensive. Service was solid--attentive and engaging. The food was of a very good caliber, but they could use some more vegetarian options that aren't deep fried. To be fair, their curds are outstanding--smaller than Milwaukee Burger Company, but bigger than Culver's. Breading wasn't overtaking the cheese, and the dips were fantastic. In fact, their tomato jam is enough to make me drive back 30 minutes to only eat the curds. Beer selection was decent for a craft beer connoisseur. My wife says the cocktail was the best she had ever had--sounded like a unique twist on a Moscow Mule. Tried walking in on a Saturday 11/12/22 night. Party of 5 we were told there was a 1 hour wait but that we could put our name down and receive a call. So we did. That's not a problem. We drove down to a local bar so my buddies can grab a drink. 45 min came and went. Nothing. 1 hour came and went and nothing. So I decided to to drive there with 1 from our group to check. Lucky for us "they were just about to call us". Great. Got the rest of the group and we walked in and waited for few minutes for them to clean a table off a table. Even this took longer than expected. While waiting we were literally looking at their merch and trying to decide what item we each wanted. The merch isn't great but we are visiting for the game and we are buying merch from places we are visiting. Cool. We decided on 5 pieces of merch to buy, 1 each. We get sat. Waitress was cool and nice. We order 5 rib eyes and a salmon dish. For an app we get gluten free curds. Curds. They were great. While waiting for food I see they have packaged margaritas for sale. We grab one and asked for 4 glasses (I don't drink). Welp. That's where it started going south. The owner. Not the manager. He identified himself as the owner, gave us some bs line about how we can buy the margarita but not drink it in the restaurant. Huh? Why? "Because it's discounted" Keep in mind. No signage saying this. There is nothing letting you know this is a discounted product and that you can't drink it in the restaurant if you buy it. The owner said if we bought wine we could drink it in the restaurant. Whatever dude. We wanted the margarita. It is what it is and things close at 8pm in this city so we were stuck and had already ordered steaks and salmon. Food comes out in 3 trips that weren't fast making us sit there and wait (so much for team work on the food running side) but the food looks amazing!!!! Then we stared eating. Again. Things close at 8 in this town so we were stuck. Cold. Cold steaks (Medium rare). I get it. Cool pink center. I know. But not cold all around. Cold mushrooms too the only thing with some heat was the potatoes which I liked. The main reason for the 1 star is the owners attitude towards the whole situation. Simple as that. It could have been handled differently. To be honest the service overall in this city just isn't good. From anyone. They're nice but the service is horrible so this was just the "I'm over it" part of the trip. We were excited to try this place and it's a cool looking restaurant. I've been enjoying their breakfast burritos rather frequently, however last night I went there for the first Time for dinner. It was my husbands birthday and wanted to treat him to a nice, delicious meal and I had a feeling this place would be good, based on the burritos. The food was GREAT! He loves Cajun food so he ordered the jambalaya and said it was delicious. I don't think I saw a single grain of rice left on his plate! Bartenders ignore you. I placed an empty drink in front of THREE bartenders who all looked and ignored me. One bartender even cleared the empty and started doing dishes. When we were finally seated, we ordered meals right away. In a time frame of 25 minutes no one checked on us to ask about drink or water refills.
